Football is back ……..

We’ve made it …………….. almost two months with no football to watch and lots of discussions about who we needed to buy and who we needed to sell. Ultimately it was a pretty exciting Transfer Window in which many football supporters – Arsenal and others – think we’ve done rather well.

We still have players out with injuries – Bellerin, Holding and Lacazette – who won’t be travelling to Newcastle tomorrow, plus new recruits who may not be ready to start. With that in mind we will probably see Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson in the line up and well done to them for working so hard to get to this point.

Reading the farewells from Alex Iwobi and Carl Jenkinson brought a tear to the eye as their love for the club shone through.

The club photographer, Stuart MacFarlane sent a message to Danny Welbeck reminding him that he was only next door and not to be a stranger. For those that don’t know, the Watford Training Ground is next door to Arsenal Training Ground.

The statement from the club about Ozil and Kolasinac not travelling because of fears about their safety following the attempted car jacking last week is worrying for everyone. Any further attempts of violence towards them puts the whole team at risk ……………….. a very sad state of affairs.

So, today we get to see Jenks lining up with Nottinham Forest v Nketiah lining up with Leeds. Best of luck to both of them ………….. obviously we want Eddie to get lots of game time and show what he can do.

Have a great Saturday ……………

It’s all irrelevant now. Jose Mourinho has signed with Sky Sports which means I’ll never be able to watch the channels again.

    Disgusting.

  2. Oh no ………………

  3. Sue says:

Ha and RVP has signed up with BT Sport… it just gets worse…….

  4. Sue says:

Been so long coming… I’m soooo looking forward to getting home from work to catch the 2nd half of City v Hammers… then catch up with Soccer AM (& Mr Bullard.. and Tommy from Love Island is a guest 😍) followed by Soccer Saturday…happy days…. and finally hope to see Grealish have a belter against the spuds.. come on Villa!!
    Happy Saturday guys & gals!!

Nice post peaches. We addressed most issues during the transfer window. Best one I can remember for many years. Very excited to see how far we can go this term. My prediction is third, behind Man City and Liverpool. Spurs will get fourth with the dirty Mancs not qualifying for Europe.

Bellerin is taking an age to recover to full fitness, and together with Rob Holding and Tierney its not helping us to get off to the best starts regarding our defensive line up.

Willock and Nelson may both get a start tomorrow, not sure I would start Nelson but my favourite, Willock , I would definitely start.

I’ve read the farewell from Jenkinson, but not the one from Iwobi. Carl Jenkinson left our club with dignity and class, unlike our once lauded Captain Koscielny.

The security problems with Ozil and Kolasinac is extremely worrying for all, especially with rich footballers. They are a prime target. Until our laws allow stern sentences we will hear this kind of crime grow and grow.

I’m going to follow Leeds and Nottingham Forrest progress this season and keep an eye on both our ex players. Good luck to Carl Jenkinson and see you soon Eddie NKetiah.

  6. VCC!!!!!!!! How the devil are you, how lovely to hear from you, hope you and the family are well.

  7. Have a great day Sue, catch up later

  8. Gööner In Exile says:

On the Kola and Ozil “security” no one seems to have said anything along these lines but is it a coincidence that both are practising Muslims? Or have they just peed off the wrong people with their foiled carjacking attempt. Would hate to think in the modern world it is anything more sinister but then in the modern world Boris Johnson and Donald Trump are world leaders so who knows.

  9. GiE – gosh I hope it’s not racist targeting, I just assumed it was envy and knowledge that they had stuff to steal.

But you’re right that the world is pretty nuts at the moment 😦

  10. VCC says:

peaches…we are all fine thank you, as I hope you and your family are. XXX

Boy, what exciting times we have on our hands. I’m like a kid in a sweet shop with a million pounds in my pocket to spend.

I think UE has spent well, but as you know me, I’m never happy when it comes to Arsenal, I want utopia. I would like to see the back of Xhaka, Miki and Mustafi. These three are causing us so much grief. Surely Willock is better than Xhaka and Miki? and Chambers, although he is still learning his trade, is light years above Mustafi.

Now the Arsenal have spent some money and look like they mean business I intend to frequent some home and away games again this season. Would be lovely to bump into you and some of the gang again. Where do you have before games cocktails?

  11. VCC – we meet at a lovely pub called the Faltering Fullback, it’s at the back of Finsbury Park Station towards Stroud Green. It’s a bit further away but it’s got an amazing three storey garden … if you google it you’ll see.

  12. VCC says:

That looks Idyllic Peaches. Trust you to find a Pub with a Horticultural theme, 😉 ….. looks like I will have to bring my secateurs with me, instead of a red and white scarf……

Whats the walking time to the stadium please. At my age I will need plenty of time to enter the ground and get seated.

RA looks like he is on the mend and in good order, would love to meet him before a game.

    Any news from Terrible Terry?

    Take care.

    COYG

  13. Actually it was the Vines brothers that suggested it ………….and secateurs are essential. We allow 35-40 minutes to get to the ground, usually make sure we leave 2.10 for a 3pm ko and make it with time to spare.

RA announced he wasn’t going to be around for a bit a couple of weeks ago so I hope he’s ok. Terry pops in now and then.

Looking forward to hooking up with you.

  14. GoonerB says:

Thanks Peaches. A marvellous post under the circumstances, considering you were flushed out yesterday……that can leave any horticulturist reeling 🙂

How are you VCC? The FFB pub is indeed very nice and I am just awaiting confirmation that Peaches is taking the credit for introducing such a fine drinking venue to A.A 🙂

I think Maureen could be an interesting one as I don’t think the Arsenal bias in his comments, we would assume will be the norm, will be there. He probably has more of a beef with both Utd and Chelsea now, and has never been keen on Liverpool. He could turn out to be our secret punditry weapon.

GIE, your comment later on the last post seems to tally with all my views and what I have been saying recently. You just seem to be able to say it more succinctly and in far fewer words though. It is like you type out what I would normally type and then apply an anti-waffling device to it to make it more concise. Now where would one get one of those little devices GIE?

  15. GoonerB says:

Oh you preempted me Peaches. Was it the Vines? Right LBG we need a word 🙂

  16. Gööner In Exile says:

GB 🙂 have you got two young children handy? They seem to eat all time so time to blog greatly reduced meaning brevity is the key 🙂

  17. VCC says:

Hi GoonerB. I’m well thank you. Hoping your well too.

I’ve got my Arsenal Mojo back. It’s been a tough few seasons as you may understand. Wenger really did drag us down in the last several years of his reign. Did he and Gazidis know something was brewing? The mind boggles, because why would he buy such inept players as he did???

No one has owned up to scouting such players like Mustafi/Miki/Xhaka/Kolasinac/Elneny????? So did Wenger make the decisions?

Whoever it was cannot have an eye for a competent footballer.

  18. LBG says:

Morning/afternoon all, young, old, the loquacious, the verbose, the concise, GoonerB, et al, happy new season. Thank God it’s back, and we can witness fact rather than speculation.
Third for me behind Liverpool then Man City. Glass is 80% full, hope no spillage tomorrow.

  19. LBG says:

Kieran smashes Aubang’s vertical jump record – now 55cm – to bring that broad smile onto the young man’s face. Golding’s reaction “Wow!

  20. LBG says:

    Golding otherwise known as Holding.
If we can improve Hector’s defending, what a future backline – Bellerin, Holding, Saliba, Tierney!! With, my man Mavrapanos in the wings.

  21. LBG says:

Following plenty of scrapes with Balotelli, PV begins his second season with Nice. If some predictors have their way and Dick is gone soon, we are ready Patrick. Personally I think Season 21-22 will be perfect for me, when all the youth will be ready for you, sir

  22. LBG says:

Sir Geoff says no reason why Manure couldnt experience the same 30 year drought as the Dippers for their next League win. What a shame that would be! Hope I’ll still be around to laugh!

  23. Sue says:

Wow, City (& Raheem!) are back with a bang!! Only saw the 2nd half… was happy to see Sergio’s thighs once again… thought VAR was good…. what the hell was Ederson wearing?? Gross!! Glad they went one better than Liverpool!!
Now onto the 3 o’clockers… dying to hear “Unbelievable” 😂

  24. Sue says:

Thank you John McGinn – was pi**ed off with listening to oh when the spurs & come on you spurs – that shut them up!! More of the same in the 2nd half please! FOYS

  25. LBG says:

    Oh Peaches…..you are awful!!

  26. LB says:

Looks like it is down to us to go face first over the banana skin

  27. Sue says:

Well, that really was a pisser! Gutted… don’t think I can face MOTD.. what with that & Liverpool! Urgh!! So the finale of Wentworth Prison instead then! 👍
Just looked at football scores.. Angers v Bordeaux… Reine-Adelaide has scored & Koscielny is on the bench….
I hope we have a good game tomorrow… so gutted about Kolasinac and Ozil missing out though 😪

  28. fatgingergooner says:

    GB,

Don’t listen to GIE. I have 2 small individuals running around my house but I seem to find plenty of time to write complete bollocks about Arsenal Football Club.

Or maybe he’s just a better dad than I am! 😂😂😂😂

  29. VP of Oz says:

I have 3 snowflake generation individuals running around my house who all think I’m an absolute loser for my daily reading and commenting on AA

  30. LBG says:

    FGG, VP, GiE, GB
Eventually the snowflake generation get old themselves, worry about their own snowflakes and leave you alone to concentrate on the greatest Football Club in the World. Peace and quiet is not overrated.

  31. Morning all

Got a technical problem with the pre-match ………… be with you asap
