Three Lions versus The Blazers

Goals from Maguire and another England player saw off Sweden in a surprisingly comfortable victory for Gareth’s boys.

The waistcoat is still working its wonders.

Eddie and VP’s Croatia luckily beat the host nation on penalties setting up Wednesday’s semi-final showdown.

    Aaron is Croatian too

Who was the other english goal scorer, why no name?

  2. Eddie says:

so if you beat us, ie England win against Croatia we will have England v France/Belgium final. That is tasty. Frenchies for me

A group of #England fans celebrating the teams 2-nil win over Sweden were filmed jumping on furniture and throwing things around at an #Ikea store in London. Staff at the Swedish-founded shop watched in horror as fans flooded in #WorldCup (video @KingMo786 )

  4. Aaron says:

Was Eddie, was….next game I am back to the English.
Croatia better have some good treatment tables as 2 games in 1 week that went to OT and then to penalties-their legs and nerves are shot.
    England onward and upward!

  5. Eddie says:

you is fickle fan Aaron 🙂

i am reading about Planck’s constant and photon energy trying to work out if the outcome of this WC has been decided a long time ago in the parallel universe

Alan Gilzean RIP. Played in my first game at Highbury (v Dundee)61-62. Less attractive a memory when the big man alongside Jimmy Greaves with the Spuds.

  9. RC78 says:

Hope to see you in the final BUT I am not convinced that we will make it. On your side, things are looking “OK”.

  10. Eddie says:

don’t be silly RC, France look awesome, so many fantastic players including our Ollie

  11. RC78 says:

France has great players but we are not really playing as a team and we have liabilities:
    – Umtiti and Varane are not playing well together and Umtiti is really poor on the ball
    – Pavard is often exposed
    – Griezzman is only scoring from PKs and Giroud is not scoring

Belgium is the favorite to win the WC now, followed by England and France.

I am hoping for a France – England final as this would add another reason to argue at hime with my wife :-p

Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira and France Under-20 international Matteo Guendouzi are set to have medicals at Arsenal on Monday.

The Gunners have an agreement in place with Serie A side Sampdoria for the £26m transfer of 22-year-old Torreira.

He is seen as a key recruit by new Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who has already made three signings.

Midfielder Guendouzi, 19, will join from Lorient and is viewed as a top-level prospect for the future.

A deal for defensive midfielder Torreira – who is 5ft 6in and has been capped eight times by Uruguay – was agreed before the World Cup, where he helped his country reach the quarter-finals, where they were beaten 2-0 by France.

Arsenal have also signed Switzerland defender Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer from Italian champions Juventus, while Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno has agreed to join from Bayer Leverkusen.

Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has arrived at Emirates Stadium from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

    I will go with
France 4:2 Belguim (with France finding their team and goalscoring form at the right time)
    Croatia 3:1 England

    Belguim 2:1 England

then Croatia 2:1 France (a reverse of their 98 semi-final)

    good night

  15. RC78 says:

    Belgium 3 – 2 France
    England 3 – 1 Croatia

    Belgium 2 – 3 England (after ET)

  16. RC78 says:

A nice article about Torreira. He is going to be our Kante.

We know that Torreira, Xhaka and Ramsey will start. We also know that Auba will start. Now there are 2 spots left for 3 players: Miky, Mesut and Laca. Who will start and at which position?
