It’s A Knockout

The Round of 16 kicks off today with a couple of belting fixtures.

Neither France nor Argentina have hit anything like decent form as yet. Perhaps the do or die nature of the knockouts will inspire them to bring their A game to stage.

Uruguay v Portugal in the evening could be the tie of this round. Therefore it’s a guaranteed nil nil and penalties.

  2. mickydidit89 says:

You Croats sure do know your stuff 🙂

It’s hard to imagine a finer looking weekend. Sun, swim, football, pizza, football, cigar

  3. chas says:

    Home made pizza?
    What toppings?

  4. chas says:

Cigars are still on the menu?

  5. mickydidit89 says:

    Fags? no, never again
    Cigars? Are you kidding?
Homemade pizza on a busy day? No way. LIDL pepperoni

  6. Eddie says:

i’d imagine, in the sticks, it is faster to make a pizza than to drive to a Lidl. No?

  7. mickydidit89 says:

True BUT I had dull yesterday to plan ahead and boy am I ready

  8. mickydidit89 says:

Trying to decide who I want to win today’s games

Historically I like Argentina , but, I’m in France from Thurs to Monday next weekend so would be good to have them playing as it’d be on big tellies everywhere

Like Portugal as well as Uruguay about equally, but can’t stand Ronnie, so that could be the deciding factor in that one

  9. Big Raddy says:

    Morning All,

Cracking couple of games today. France and Uruguay for me (which is the kiss of death for them).

Never tried a Lidl pizza but if the Gourmet recommends them they must be OK.

Mr & Mrs Raddy are off to Italy tomorrow for our annual tour. Intermittent internet access and therefore less BR AA activity for a few weeks.

  10. Big Raddy says:

I have become a table leg. Deep joy.

  11. Eddie says:

    enjoy your hols Raddy

  12. chas says:

I’m having barbecued courgette, sweetcorn and rib eye steak.
Got some meringue so may go for Eton mess for pud.

  13. Eddie says:

did you know that mammals don’t digest sweet corn? It comes out the same form it went in. Use baby broad beans, much better for us

what about booze from Booze Galore?

  14. chas says:

Does that mean no footy while in Italia, BR?

  15. chas says:

I love that caramelised sweetness you get from charred sweetcorn.
    Broad beans on the barbie?

  16. Eddie says:

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, no, probably not a good idea. Toms then.

  17. mickydidit89 says:

    Wow Chas, impressive spread.

    Erik
Have a great holiday. The only downer on this World Cup is the absence of Italy but hopefully they will still bother showing games

  18. Big Raddy says:

Hopefully there will be a bar somewhere showing the football and with free wifi so I can blog

I predicted the the final would be England vs France. It is still possible.

  19. Big Raddy says:

We will be roasting a wild boar, served with salt herring, and mead. Vegetables are for wimps

  20. mickydidit89 says:

My pre tournament chart had Brasil Germany final 🙂

I’d now go for Brasil Spain

  21. chas says:

Pretty much what I’ll be doing later

  22. Big Raddy says:

    Thanks chas. Enjoyed that

  23. mickydidit89 says:

    Superb article Chas

“Pepe and Diego Costa – clashed. It was the irresistible prick meeting the immoveable arsehole, and a tit-for-twat exchange of epic proportions”….amongst many wonderful lines

Re the beware bad language…I think we can move on from those days 🙂

  24. mickydidit89 says:

No striker at all for Argentina 🙄

  26. mickydidit89 says:

    Nah, Argentina for me

  27. mickydidit89 says:

    Isn’t Benega on Arsenal’s radar?

  28. mickydidit89 says:

    wow Mbappe is fast
A goal now would be excellent

  29. mickydidit89 says:

    game on

  30. Big Raddy says:

    Get in.

Mbappe has a sharp turn of speed, doesn’t he?

  31. Big Raddy says:

Wish we had managed to sign Mbappe – he is absolutely the chiens couilles.

    We were close.

  32. mickydidit89 says:

    close Erik?
If we offered 100M for you but only gave you 30 seconds to fly over and complete a medical, I have my doubts the deal would go through 🙂

Surely Argies should have a natural goal poacher on ie Higuain Aguero or Cavani

  33. mickydidit89 says:

    wooooooowwww

  34. Big Raddy says:

Lloris should have saved it. Tottenham Twat

  35. mickydidit89 says:

  36. Big Raddy says:

Oh dear, not going to plan atm

  37. mickydidit89 says:

    Unreal strike for that goal

    brilliant match

  38. mickydidit89 says:

    Lloris in disguise? 🙂

Feel sorry for Messi. Diabolical team selection

  39. mickydidit89 says:

ah ha, Aguero . At bloody last

  40. Eddie says:

5 goals already, are you having kittens mr didit?

  41. Big Raddy says:

Agueo and Higuian on the bench?

  49. chas says:

    Classic shithousery. ☺

  50. mickydidit89 says:

    absolutely brilliant game
fucking idiot of an argentine manager
no strikers for messi to work with. unreal
    still, 7 goals

  51. Big Raddy says:

    Fantastic entertainment

  52. Big Raddy says:

Agree about the Argie manager. Worst since Leopoldo Galtieri

  53. mickydidit89 says:

THAT Pavard goal…. for me, best so far

  54. mickydidit89 says:

ha ha ha…yeah, he was crap for sure 🙂

  55. mickydidit89 says:

    Ok, back for more later

Be warned, I now really really detest Ronaldo, and although at some point I wanted Portugal to win the thing, those days are way behind me

  56. fred1266 says:

    Not after Monday

  57. Big Raddy says:

Portugal for me am a big fan of Ronnie.

Never liked the Biter since he turned us down, and it has to be Europe over S. America

  58. mickydidit89 says:

I’m going Uruguay. So there 🙂

  59. mickydidit89 says:

Me thinks Cavani and Suarez will score more than Ronnie

Eeeks, not terribly confident about that

  60. mickydidit89 says:

Thinking of Uraguay and Montevideo, anyone seen the film with the Graf Spee stuck there with british battleships waiting in the Atlantic

  61. Big Raddy says:

How can anyone in their right mind suuport a team with a national anthem like Uruguay? Awful – even worse than Spain.

I miss the Italians – they have the best anthem along with Scotland and ROI

  62. Big Raddy says:

Oh dear, Portugal’s is even worse

  63. Big Raddy says:

Forgot Portugal have the despicable Pepe 😦

  64. Big Raddy says:

    I want a draw

  65. Big Raddy says:

Excellent to see a referee dressed in black again

  66. mickydidit89 says:

    6 mins
    1 goal
    nice
    🙂

  67. mickydidit89 says:

Just noticed Uruguayan flag has same sun on it as Argentinian

Looked it up. Wiki say: “According to the historian Diego Abad de Santillán, the Sun of May is a figurative sun that represents Inti, the sun god of the Inca religion”

  68. chas says:

    Classic shithousery from Suarez
    Fingers brush his scalp.
Result – he’s been hit on the head with a baseball bat.

What a banging goal from Cavani.

  69. mickydidit89 says:

    WHAT A PONCE

  70. mickydidit89 says:

Sorry Chas, my poncery comment was re double rolled up shorts from Mr Mince himself

  71. Big Raddy says:

Uruguay = Cynical but I like the cut of our potential new boys jib.

  72. mickydidit89 says:

    Goals? Please 🙄

  73. chas says:

    Pepe hahaha

  74. mickydidit89 says:

    3 goals
    bit better

  75. mickydidit89 says:

I’ve been part-time comparing Torreira and Carvahlo
Kinda weird they do the same job and yet are physically so different
Verdict: Carvahlo is an Elneny (if Mo was told to play that position) whereas Torreira is more Cante-esque

  76. Big Raddy says:

    Kante-esque would certainly do.

  77. mickydidit89 says:

Not sure France have too much to worry about

  78. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

    Evening all. Great football today

Know what you mean about the Uruguayan amthem. As a National Antthem fantasist I didn’t know what to make of it? At first I contemplated starting a Coup but the thing is to long. By the end I remembered I was a cheap skate Accountant with shit hair so made myself a cup of tea

Cavan i is a strange player. Brilliant, but feigns injury to go off when knackered? Cavani is the type of guy who would leave a loved one for ever if faced with an exceptionally large flight of stairs.

Felt sorry for Messi. It’s a very difficult thing to accept when you are the use to constant adulation to realise that actually, your not all that. This is compounded when one looks up to the stand and spots a fat drunken oaf with high blood pressure and it dawns that he was and still is better than you.

Harry Kane is a creep. It’s a well know fact that men with protruding chins should either be a welder or a 1970s football presenter.

Neymar fascinates me. This is a guy that knows the whole world is watching but yet shows no embarrassment at falling over at every opportunity. He is either a snivelling diving coward or has the bravery to announce in a Northern Mans working club that he is an outrageous homosexual who supports Fulham. Which one is it?

  79. mickydidit89 says:

Always good to hear from you Transplant 🙂 🙂

    Nite all

  80. Big Raddy says:

    Tense and exciting finale.

Uruguay superb in defence and if we get Terreira we have a fine , if somewhat diminutive, defensive shield

  81. Big Raddy says:

    Terry 😀 Neymar? The former

  82. fatgingergooner says:

Torreira needs to happen. The player we’ve needed since Flamini left the first time! Looks an absolute talent who could be our Kante. The type of player you can build a fabulous attack minded midfield around. Please get it done!

  83. bluesdomain says:

France vs Argentina was a good game and came close. Uruguay is doing very well and surprised me in the end. I’m looking forward to Brazil vs Mexico!

  84. VP of Oz says:

  85. VP of Oz says:

i”m spending too much time watching 442oons between games

  86. Big Raddy says:

    Morning All,

FGG. Who gets dropped or sold for Terreira. I guess Xhaka or we will play 3 at the back and an extra MF, which means Monreal will ride the pine.

    Interesting.
