Home Run to Continue?

Huddersfield Town F.C. was where Herbert Chapman won Div 1 twice before arriving at Arsenal. We owe them but the debt should be paid by allowing them a few minutes of parity before scoring a a hatful.

One of GN5 mates

A hatful is possible but unlikely because, as H’field showed against City, they are a very good, well-organised team. Scoring is a problem, as far as I can see, they have scored only 3 goals away from home all season and all three were in the same game! But, they have beaten Man Utd so this is unlikely to be a walkover.

Much is made of Wagner (the manager not the composer), and he does seem to be more than just Jurgen Klopp’s best friend.

Expect PTB and loads of possession, something we witness so often at The Emirates.

My Team (the one I expect to play, not the one I would pick)

Mustafi    Koscielny    Monreal

Bellerin    Ramsey   Xhaka   Kolasinac

Lacazette    Sanchez

If it were my choice we would play 4-3-3 with Welbeck starting and resting  Kolasinac. I don’t see the need for the extra defender when playing a side who are certain to defend in depth and play on the break.

What would be your chosen team?

We need these 3 points and to continue our wonderful home form (well results rather than form). With a hige game on the weekend we need to maitain confidence and drive.

So, welcome to the Emirates Huddersfield, it is excellent when such a small club proves money is not the only driver in football. I really hope you have the opportunity to play here next season and get beaten again 😀

The capitulation of the Spuds is laughable and that should give our boys more motivation. I expect a gargantuan win. COYG

  2. Eddie says:

fred – did you manage to arrange a meet with chas and peaches?

  3. Eddie says:

hi raddy, thank you for the post. If I read your post just before the game, we win. So I am not reading it now.

cats like computers, it is a fact

Lilly La La is googling MICE.

  5. Red Arnie says:

    Motning all.

Good work as ever, Raddy. I expect a tough game, and look forward to us scraping it by an odd goal of 1! better still if the goal come in injury time! 🙂

6th. And that too only because Eddie went on overtime drive this morning! 🙂

  6. fred1266 says:

Apparently they not attending the hopefully for United

  7. VP of Oz says:

    Another fine post BR

I’m finding it interesting how well managed the back of house at Arsenal is getting.

    Starting December:
Sven Mislintat – Head of Recruitment
    From Borussia Dortmund.

    and now starting in February:
Raul Sanllehi – Head of Football Relations
Former Barcelona Director of Football for 14yrs

Lots of other back of house changes. Looks like an orderly changing of the guard is going on.

  8. VP of Oz says:

I would be pretty happy if the rumours were true and he joined us

  9. Eddie says:

    oh no, so sorry fred!!
Yes, November evenings in London are hardly inviting to venture out, not exactly Trinidad, is it?

  10. Red Arnie says:

yes, VP. I have been observing this as well. People in the know say these are major coups. 🙂

the key appointment should be replacement of Bonkers. I have the feeling he has not really worked for us. this has probably put the transition back by 2-3 years.

  11. Red Arnie says:

can we perhaps do a post, at some point, on the orderly changing of guard?

  12. Big Raddy says:

    RA. Get writing …

  13. Big Raddy says:

Poor Santi has had another operation on his ankle 😦

  14. Rasp says:

Thanks Raddy, I see tonight’s game as a potential banana skin. Huddersfield played well against City, and we often fail to capitalise when teams around us drop points …. so here’s hoping.

Fred, peaches is going this evening although will do well to arrive much before the start, so meeting up will be difficult.

    From Sky Sports

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has confirmed he has suffered a setback to his return to first-team football after undergoing further surgery to his injured ankle.

The 32-year old has not featured for Arsenal since October 2016 after he sustained an Achilles problem during their 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets.

Cazorla – who was initially left out of the Gunners’ 25-man Premier League squad earlier this season – has endured eight surgeries since the issues with his ankle began in 2013.

Santi Cazorla confirms he has had further surgery to his injured ankle which has kept him out of action for over a year

The Spaniard confirmed he has lost eight centimetres of his Achilles tendon as a result, and feared he may lose his foot after suffering an infection earlier this month.

A statement on his social media accounts read: “Some discomfort in the tendon that had dragged the last few days, I have had to undergo surgery. It is delaying the date of return to the playing fields, I maintain the illusion and motivation to enjoy my great passion, soccer.”

Former Arsenal striker and Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas hailed Cazorla a “stunning talent” as he urged the midfielder to be patient in his comeback.

Nicholas told Premier League Daily: “A lot of guys get bad injuries. I had a broken leg in the early 80s and it was tough to come back from that then.

“This is a mental fight that you have to pursue and just wait to see.

“All I would say is ‘Santi, take care of yourself, get yourself right and see where we go from here’. Arsenal can wait all day.”

  16. GunnerN5 says:

Thank you for the post Raddy.

Unfortunately HC was also before my time but he was always a major topic of discussion with my Dad’s brothers.

  17. LB says:

That is a very interesting comment VP

It does look like and orderly change is going on.

    Thanks for the read BR

  18. Red Arnie says:

ha ha ha, Raddy. let’s see. 🙂

Bonkers and Freddie together at Wolfsburg. hmmm.

  19. fred1266 says:

Anyone outside stadium waiting to get in

  20. GoonerB says:

Thanks Raddy, I like your team. We have 9 games till new year. 2 tough ones in Utd and Pool, but both at home, and 7 that have potential banana skin written on them, including tonight’s. Do we think the team can manage 4 points from the 2 tough ones and 19 from the 7 we should win on paper?

  21. Red Arnie says:

    Yes, GB, we can! 🙂

  22. Red Arnie says:

    GN5. Santi. sad! really sad.

  23. Red Arnie says:

Fingers crossed, but more generally, our injury situation has improved. No?

  24. GunnerN5 says:

Yes Arnie very sad indeed, the phrase “It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy” applies 100% to Santi, what a bloody shame!!!

I doubt he will ever make a comeback so I hope the club has a testimonial for him so the fans can give him a proper send off.

  25. LB says:

The Oldroyd tonight, 334 Upper Street

Goose and Dijon rillets followed by roast Hake all washed down with a glass of Rioja reserva.

And that is my travelogue for this evening.

You can take the boy out of the council estate but……..

  26. GunnerN5 says:

That certainly does not sound like dinner on a council estate. Let us know if it was up to your expectations.

Not like us to score so early. Was it a good one?

  33. Red Arnie says:

hmm. Raddy. I was fumbling trying to find a decent stream, somissed it as well. Beebs says excellent goal

  34. Big Raddy says:

Played some pretty football in that half. Just need one of those intricate plays to come off and we are kushti.

Thankfully we are not playing a better attacking team as some of our passes from defence have been woeful.

  35. chas says:

  36. Red Arnie says:

OK, good half. I think we played well without exerting ourselves. Good attacks that looked dangerous, but the oppo was also dangerous on the break.

Missed the goal. But that Bastenesque curling lob from the goaline, over the keeper and curling in, stooped on teh line was superb. wow Lac.

That apart, Kos gets a special mention for some good defending and heart wrenching and well timed runs backwards.

  64. GunnerN5 says:

Fred I hope you enjoyed the game did any of the AA regulars meet up with you?

  65. Rasp says:

Fred’s our lucky charm …. someone kidnap him and force him to come to every game 😆

  66. Rasp says:

The first half was a bit lack lustre …. but the goals in the second half were pure poetry …. particularly the quick passing of the 2nd and 3rd

  67. mickydidit89 says:

    5!!!!!!!! Oh joy

Great to get home to the Chas clips. Superb footballing goals. And I get to read LB’s superb report first, so thanks very much for that also.

And hark, did I hear someone say Spurs are down in 7th. Now that’s a shame 🙂

  68. mickydidit89 says:

So, it’s goodnight from him also on a very good night for Gunners Goodnight

  69. Brilliant night at The Emirates, just the thing before Man U come to town. Mesut was superb, some of our passing was divine partly due to Mesut but also it seemed something just clicked and off we went, on the rampage. Excellent fun.

I’ve taken LB’s comment to use in the morning, it’s got player ratings too 🙂

  70. fred1266 says:

Some one needs to give me a list to the words all the songs

  71. fred1266 says:

  72. fred1266 says:

Does Drayton station always close so early all didn’t make it home

  73. Morning all

    There’s a New Post

  74. Hi Fred, Drayton Park can’t cope with the crowds after games so it’s not open. It won’t be open at all on Saturday. There are plenty of other stations nearby, Arsenal on the Piccadilly Line is the nearest or Finsbury Park on the Piccadilly and Victoria lines is a 20 minute walk from the ground.

Hope you enjoyed the goal fest 😁

  75. fred1266 says:

Hi peaches yes I I did, more of the same Saturday

Thanks for the information on the train station
