Ozil was magnificent. Alexis was sublime. Flies have hairy legs.

  2. Flies may have hairy legs but a more important question is how do they land on a ceiling? Is it out of a half roll or off the top of a loop the loop?

  3. RA says:

Very interesting Post, Carruthers, and I will home in on the most important aspect, which is this entirely understandable question of how does a fly stand on glass.

If the glass is lying flat, of course it can stand on it, just like anyone, or anything else, dumkopf!!

If the glass is vertical then that is more tricky.
In simple terms it can be said that the fly has disproportionately great big hairy feet, so it does not need to have the rubber suction cups fitted, at great expense, at ‘Furry Fly Feet R Us’ as the glass is not as smooth as you think your chat up lines are, and from a fly’s viewpoint the glass has dips and depressions that the huge hairy fly feet can grab and use as footholds.

What is even more interesting is why would a fly want to stand on a vertical glass? The thing is he maybe a moody bastard and just wants to hang out on his own – but you would have to ask him yourself.

As a related aside, you may have seen Terry with his trousers at half-mast apparently glued to the window in the Arsenal fans’ favourite pub — glued? not so.
In fact, he uses a variation of the disproportionately great big hairy fly feet and has a disproportionately great big hairy ass that works in the same way.

    Always at your service!

  4. Was winning the best result for the club? In hindsight, emphatically yes.

We still have a good chance of progressing to the knockout stage.

Any win is good for the players, fans and the club.

More games means more prize money, means more revenue, means more players like Mesut and Alexis.

More games means I get even better value from my BT Broadband subscription.

The down side is that I get to listen to even more of Michael Owen’s inane blethering.

  5. You can always rely on Redders to get to the bottom of the subject. ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. PV4 says:

@Norfolk – I think they specifically search for Artexed ceilings!

  7. Thanks for the post Rasp, I’m going to take a while to respond to some of the other questions.

  8. Rasp says:

    Lovely stuff anonymous (Raddy?)

Alexis and Ozil are a match made in heaven. I think there may be one more piece missing from the jigsaw but we are a much better team than 4 years ago.

Monreal and Bellerin are the best wing back pairing in the EPL, end of….

Flamini was disciplined yesterday and will be good enough for all opponents as long as he has the quality around him.

Campbell is improving and worthy of his place in the squad. he also needs to have our best players around him to flourish.

Empty seats due to fears over terrorism, lazy bastard fans and people with too much money ๐Ÿ™‚

The first goal was the best because of the speed we attacked with the ball from defence. We nicked it off them and then outpaced them and delivered the perfect cross. The finish was more difficult than it looked.

Chambers looked out of his depth at DM yesterday, I wouldn’t risk him in that position against better opposition. Who knows how good he can be – needs more time = catch 22

Giroud is an excellent striker in 2 of the required disciplines. If we play to his strengths he will continue to score goals. The problem is other players (Ozil, Alexis, Cazorla) prefer to play in a different way.

Winning last night was without doubt the best outcome.

I wouldn’t rest Alexis against Norwich unless it becomes obvious that he is below par – same for the other players. If we’re 3 up after 60 minutes we should sub Alexis or Cazorla. Start with Ramsey and when The Ox is back again, we can begin to rotate using The Ox and Campbell.

My fingers are sore now – over to someone else ……

  9. RA says:

Ah, I see you have an ancillary question, “Is Mrs Frith a force for good or evil?” and this too is very interesting, mein liebe.

Is this the woman of Mr Micky’s acquaintance? We must assume so, or why would you be asking such a scheissenhausen question?

So, the answer depends on what activity she is engaged in at the time, naturlich.
If, as one hears, she is trying to get his poor verdammt handy-pansy to function again after his three wheeler bike overturned, then by returning it to its usual strength and faculty when applying certain secret pressures to his flacid accoutrement, she is both good and evil – good – because she is assisting Herr Micky to stand up and be counted, but – evil – because she now lets you call him the Dude from Bude w***ker again. And you know you do when he is not around.

    Ask me another.

  10. GoonerB says:

Great to see Peaches, Rasp and the chuckle brothers for e pre-match drink at the Lucky Camel last night.

Cheers Viking boy for a thought provoking opinion stirring post. It doesn’t really relate to memuch thoughbecause I rarely have much to say or an opinion on anything to do with football.

Many questions though so I will give it a go.

Ozil and Sanchez the best combo since DB10 and TH14? Sorry to be pedantic Raddy but technically it is are they the best combo since DB10 and Bobby? Probably yes.

If looking at the DB10 TH14 combo the question is “are Ozil and Giroud the best combo since them?”………mmmmm. Or another way is “are Ozil, Sanchez and Giroud the best combination since DB10 Bobby and TH14? I let others answer that ๐Ÿ™‚

Monreal has massively improved and I don’t care why.

Flamster is still ok for certain games like this one, agreed.

Too early to say for Campbell. Likely decent back up though.

12,00 empty seats because Lucky Fish and wormer turned up and many ran away.

    I liked the 3rd goal.

Too early to say on Chambers.

Why can flies stand on glass? Forget Redders explanation, he doesn’t know what he is talking about. I shan’t go into full details but it has something to do with camel excrement, which I am an expert on.

I believe in Giroud for a certain role at the club, just not first choice striker, not at this level.

    Winning was the best result.

Some should be rested but they can’t “due to our bad luck” with them. I had a more scientific explanation but Chas very politely informed me he wasn’t convinced.

Mrs Frith is good but is being stalked by Cockie and Transplant so could soon be evil.

Bellerins pace helps everyone in the team.

DZ just aren’t that good. They did try and press early on but we put in a slick performance and by-passed it.

  11. GunnerN5 says:

I’m amazed reading the negative comments about Giroud, I’ve watched literally thousands of games and what you want to see are selfless players doing their part for the team. Giroud fits that bill perfectly he’s a consummate team player.

His work off of the ball yesterday (and other days) is fantastic. yesterday it was his long diagonal run towards Monreal that pulled the defenders away from Ozil that gave him the space to head home the first goal. It seems obvious to me that he’s only being judged on goals scored and not his overall contribution to the team.

We complain about how we can never break down a double decker bus defense but when Giroud shows us how he gets no credit. Very sad indeed.

  12. Just realised his excellent post was written by Big and Randy, we’ll done sir.

Best goal by far was the first. Super quick passes, very clever movement, great cross, brave diving header and none of that faffing about with dribbles, short passes, twisting, turning and forty-seven passes with no end product.

  13. chas says:

    Thanks, BR.
Great format for a match discussion.

    Alexis/Ozil combination – purr, purr.

Monreal has improved because Wenger has let the conditioning coaches near him.

Flamini is good enough for teams like Zagreb and Norwich because Wenger has not stopped the conditioning coaches from allowing him to improve.

Joel Campbell is much better since the conditioning coaches have binned Wenger’s old regime.

There were 12,000 empty seats because the conditioning coaches weren’t allowed to post their seats on the Exchange by Wenger until the game had sold out (which it didn’t).

My favourite goal was the 2nd because no-one’s said that yet

Chambers can definitely develop into a DM if Wenger doesn’t insist he becomes a namby-pamby, injury-prone midget.

Flies stand on glass by taking lessons from the conditioning coaches.

Giroud is like Marmite. Those who diss him would prefer another injury-prone midget as centre-forward

Yep, winning guaranteed a crack at the Europa. ๐Ÿ™‚

No-one should be rested on Sunday. I’d imagine you’d have to gaffer tape Alexis to a goalpost at the Emirates to stop him playing at Carrow Road.

Mrs Frith is the spawn of Satan if she is going to inflict DidIt’s cello on the world. But I am looking forward to the Chary-esque youtube video. ๐Ÿ™‚

Bellerin is wonderful. His minute blip at West Brom is over.

Zagreb hadn’t taken advice from either Poolis or from Wenger’s conditioning coaches on how to keep Santi quiet.

    Thanks again, Mr Radford.

  14. Haven’t heard so much about reconditioned coaches since Sir Henry Norris flogged the team bus.

  15. chas says:

  16. Big Raddy says:

Ah, the old conditioning team ploy. Cunning.

I am off to Malmo this evening to see Ibra return with PSG to his home club. All sold out so the Great Man has arranged for there to be a free Big Screen broadcast in the main square in Malmo.

Fine gesture. Top bloke (if a little egocentric ๐Ÿ˜€ )

  17. chas says:

Man U v Eindhoven has more riding on it, but Juventus v City will probably have more quality.
    Hmmmmm, which to watch?

  18. chas says:

    BR
Are you in the ground or main square?
Do you go with Mrs BR or some other football nut? ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. chas says:

Olympiacos tickets are still available for Red members if you fancy getting a sneak preview of Mrs Frith’s efforts to pollute the Devonian soundwaves. ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Chas, watch one and record the other for later viewing?

BR, do they have a nice big bonfire in the square to keep all you hardy Vikings from freezing your nuts off

  21. chas says:

Nah, it’s live or nothing. I need my beauty sleep

  22. Why has Monreal improved so much?

He has been injury free for a while now and so has managed a run of games mostly with a settled defence, a top class ‘keeper behind him and someone in front of him to keep the oppo’s fullback fully occupied at the other end of the pitch. On top of that I think he, like others in the team, has benefitted from the Coquelin effect.

  23. Big Raddy says:

I am going to the game with Fat Bob who has written the West Ham pre-matches on AA.

His son is Malmo’s fitness coach.

But we are going for a sherbet or two in the main square before the game

  24. Sounds like Malmo’s fitness coach could do some work on his son, Fat Bob.

  25. Rasp says:

Where did all this stuff about fitness coaches come from – apparently they are the cause of all our problems? ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. Of course fitness coaches are the cause of all our problems Rasp.

If they just kept our players fit there would be no need for them. So they get the players to do too much, get over fit and susceptible to injuries, thus needing a fitness coach to get them back to fitness, when the cycle can happen all over again, thus ensuring the safety of the fitness coaches’ jobs.

  27. Rasp says:

Oh I see NG, do you think Arsene knows this? ๐Ÿ˜†

  28. Rasp says:

I read somewhere today that Ozil has provided more assists to Giroud than any other ‘assister’ to any other ‘scorer’ … if that makes sense.

I think it means they have a pretty good understanding/partnership which somewhat refutes my point about Ozil preferring to play in a different way.

Maybe it shows that Ozil is such an intelligent player that he will bring out the best in whoever he plays with once he understands where their strengths lie.

  29. LB says:

The brilliance of the Alexis/Ozil combination. Best since DB10/TH14?
Last nightโ€™s performance certainly was. It makes me wonder how on earth did we lose to WBA and draw with spuds?

Why has Monreal improved so much?
This is obviously all down to Arsene Wenger.

Flamini is good enough for teams like Zagreb.
Flamini is certainly good enough to play against Zagreb and he is going to have to be good enough to play against many other teams too.

    Is Campbell any good?
Still, not sure but he is improving every game but he hasnโ€™t got a lot of time left because there is no way he is going to keep Ramsey out.

Why were there 12,000 empty seats?
Because the ticket prices are too high this encourages a wealthier band on supporter who can afford not to turn up as they chose not to do last night. They missed a blinder, serves them right.

    Which was the best goal?
The first, the build up was superb as was the execution.

Can Chambers develop into a DM?
I am doubtful but we certainly have to give him a bit more time.

How do flies stand on glass?
Are we talking Arsenal supporting flies here? If so it is because they are cool.

Giroudโ€™s record is good, make that very good. Why do fans not believe in him?
Because we can all see that things could and should be better.

Was winning last night the best result for the club?
Off course, as we are going to win in Greece and progress into the knock out stages which is good for the club.

Should Alexis or any of last nightโ€™s team be rested on Sunday?
Sanchez should always play no matter what, Wenger clearly agrees with me.

Is Mrs Frith a force of good or evil?
I donโ€™t know Mrs Frith so I cannot answer.

Does Bellerinโ€™s pace allow Campbell the freedom to play with confidence?
It helps but Bellerinโ€™s pace would help anyone.

Why did DZ allow Cazorla so much space?
DZ didnโ€™t have much of a choice; he was at his very best last night.

  30. mickydidit89 says:

Thank you. I really like the format. Very amusing and highlights all the key talking points from the game, as well as one or two cunning additions ๐Ÿ™‚

    RA
    Superb spider work ๐Ÿ™‚

    GN5
If your complaint about some appallingly insensitive remarks about our Ollie are in any way pointed at me, then please blame Crystals and Arnie for the constant provocation ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. GunnerN5 says:

Micky’ no not you, Crystals for sure, and anybody else in general who fails to see what a massive contribution he makes to the team.

  32. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening all, Thank you Raddy, Good questions.
Giroud is holding his own, doing a good job, Ive Knocked him a few times, i must admit, but he is proving me wrong. The question of Players working together is a good one, only one answer some times they do sometimes they dont.
Was it a good result for Arsenal last night, Always good when we win.
Should we rest players, definitely not. Not until we can play a player that is as good. Campbell, is he good enough, answer, a sight better than a long term injury.
Monreal, is he good enough, answer, He is proving he is
Flamoney, should have been released the same as Arteta and Rosiski, but we kept them and they are doing what we kept them for. Rosiski will probably show later.
Chambers will become a great player if he ever gets a good run. At present he is worth more to the side than Walcott and Wilshere and Welbeck.

Last one, Glass to a fly, is like craters on the moon.

Great result last night, we played well GZ were not that good but you can only play who turns up. 3.0 suits me fine…

  33. Le Coq Monster says:

The brilliance of the Alexis/Ozil combination. Best since DB10/TH14?
I need real names !….who the fcuk are they ?

Why has Monreal improved so much?
Since Ford stuck a Zetec engine in it.

Flamini is good enough for teams like Zagreb.
Yes !….Why doesn`t he fcuking join them ?

    Is Campbell any good?
Legend !….to leave the Spuds for us and be an invincible and his soup is OK !

Why were there 12,000 empty seats?
What a stupid question !……it`s obvious !….no one was sitting in them !

    Which was the best goal?
The North Bank one on a sunny afternoon !.

Can Chambers develop into a DM?
With the help of Eddie he can be a decent Doc Marten….in fact where them on the pitch and he might be a better midfield enforcer with Eddies knuckledusters to help !.

How do flies stand on glass?
I don’t wear jeans with flies, I have button ones, but it they are the same I suppose, as when I`m plastered, I will fall on a coffee table with my knob hanging out and that will stick to the table for sure !

Giroudโ€™s record is good, make that very good. Why do fans not believe in him?
They are just jealous of him because he has a hairstyle like me and sounds like me with my fake French accent….which pulls the Gilf`s.

Was winning last night the best result for the club?
It wasn`t before the game started, but is now the game has finished !.

Should Alexis or any of last nightโ€™s team be rested on Sunday?
I thought playing on Sunday was a day of rest !….it`s days away !.

Is Mrs Frith a force of good or evil?
Depends on whether she keeps her false teeth in when blowing !.

Does Bellerinโ€™s pace allow Campbell the freedom to play with confidence?
Don’t ask me technical questions !……That’s GIE`s department !……the way he lines up his fags, beer and kebab in a 433 formation should have Wenger envious !

Why did DZ allow Cazorla so much space?
They either didn`t see him as he`s quite small or he had some bad case of flatulence !.

  34. Le Coq Monster says:

Mrs Raddy helping with Raddy`s moobs before his date with Fat Bob !………………trimming his Viking helmet will be left to Fat Bob !

Sorry everyone, worrying about my mental, dental and ocular health, I’m OK, just caught up in a lot of rubbish. ๐Ÿ™‚

Brilliant post, Raddy, ๐Ÿ™‚ and great comments. My favs of the day: Redders, Chas and Cockie.

Just a word on good ol’ Ollie. Unfortunately, the blame lies on Specsavers, who are more keen on saving on glasses than saving eyes from glasses. Note Kelsie. ๐Ÿ™‚

Giro is obviously one of the most fav Arsenal player, as evident from the times this rings out in the Ams and in away games. ๐Ÿ˜›

  37. kelsey says:

Micky, I never took you to be a tell tale ๐Ÿ™‚

GN5 we are good friends but will never agree about Ollie though every woman I speak to thinks he looks like a greek god (never mind about MY hair)
He does all the things you say occasionally but we were playing a very very average team. When he can score goals regularly that win us matches against top opposition I might change my mind, but up to now I don’t see it.

Wenger likes fluid quick passing skills and intelligence on the field helps a bit as well ๐Ÿ™‚ Ollie is a nice fellow but would be better suited to a mid table team, not one who has every chance to win the title this season, unless we run out of players.

  38. Red Arnie says:

Really happy for Campbell. He looked good to me yesterday. ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. kelsey says:

I know nothing about flies on grass, sorry.

  40. kelsey says:

  49. Eddie says:

THAT is not an Arsenal outfit

  50. chas says:

Apparently they were going to do it for the Bayern home game but couldn’t get approval from UEFA in time.

  51. chas says:

Oh, OK, Chas, I should’ve factored Crystals’s gift in, rather than thinking he was a lying git! ๐Ÿ˜€

  53. Eddie says:

so many questions, I don’t know..

Sanchez/Ozil combo is awesome, I am sure Wenger planned it. They are as skilful as TH14/DB10 duo, but why do they not feel as indigenous as Thierry and Dennis?

Nacho improved because it is his 3rd season with us, time to start producing. Also, his contract is up in summer 2017, so perhaps he is either looking for an extension or a lucrative move. Smells of a traitor

Cazorla doesn’t need much space, he is tiny ๐Ÿ™‚

  54. RA says:

Couldn’t get permission from UEFA? Don’t they know whose palm leaf to grease? ๐Ÿ™‚

  55. RA says:

    Eddie,

So Nacho – ‘Smells of a traitor’? Really?

And Cazorla doesnโ€™t need much space, he is tiny – says you – and he was useless – says I. ๐Ÿ˜€

  56. RA says:

My apologies Crystals – don’t blame the 12,000 – they were doing it just to make you right! ๐Ÿ™‚

  57. chas says:

  62. Eddie says:

  63. chas says:

    Nah, all became “indigenous”.
Only TA6 and Wrighty were born to it.

  68. Gรถรถner In Exile says:

    Nice format Raddy…..

Ozil/Sanchez….I text my Dad and Brother who were at the game and said couldn’t you just watch them two play football all night. So yes probably best since DB10/TH14

Monreal…..I’d ask a different question….why has it taken so long for Arsenal fans to realise he was that good? Reads the game exceptionally well, passes forward whenever he can, good tackler, as Rasp says he and Hector are probably best wing backs in PL.

Flamini….has to stay disciplined and play a different game when he starts to conserve energy, can’t be as all action and everywhere as he seems to want to be when he comes off bench.

Is Campbell any good? Possibly, he seems eager enough, and shows good work rate and some good vision.

Why were there 12,000 empty seats? As others have said game went to friends and family, so normal midweek no shows could not make use of Ticket Exchange to sell on their tickets as there were still tickets available, very noticeable that the most full section seemed to be the Clock End where the least season tickets are sold.

Which was the best goal? Alexis second the pass by Campbell and the two touches before he finished.

Can Chambers develop into a DM? I have my view last night, for me not got the body shape for it, but needs must until January.

Giroudโ€™s record is good, make that very good. Why do fans not believe in him? I personally think because some fans only recognise the glory, I truly believe that we are a better team with Giroud because he gives us options, but I also think when watching last night he will struggle to keep up with Ozil and Sanchez due to his size, takes a lot more effort to manouvre his frame round the park, he looked like he was blowing about ten/fifteen minutes before he was replaced, think he needs more rests than others especially because he has to get through a lot of body hits and trying to give the team a platform to build from.

I am very much in his camp and his strike rate is as good as most others in PL from memory.

Read most of the comments… the Coq Monster ๐Ÿ™‚ love the photo of Robbie Savage. and Chas for the photo of Frank Lampard LOL

MWG in Greece on the 9th December if not, relegated to Spursday night football…. and who the fuck wants that?

  72. oh and by the way Redders…. flies can walk on Glass and ceilings because they have a sticky substance on their feet, not little hairs which grip the surface. When they walk on level a surface they only use three legs so the substance doesn’t slow them down.
