A controlled game for the most part, some intricate plays at times and some players really having a good season so far…A great result and happy faces – NL is ours!
Ramsdale – did not have to do much
White – I would say it was his best performance for us as right back
Saliba – Continues to impress and started to look like our defensive leader
Gabriel – Mostly good except for that PK given. Needs to also close the opposition better at times.
Zinchenko – Bringing the X-factor to our game. Steady and tidy.
Partey – We needed the best of him and we got it! Now let s hope he keeps fit because when he is fit, he forms a good partnership with Xhaka. What a well taken goal too!
Xhaka – Another great performance by Granit! What a form he is in! We need him and focus and we can then chant his song all season long! MOTM
Saka – A timid start and then was roaring! Shame he did not score but he did create plenty of problems for the Spuds
Odegaard – Not his best game but industrious enough to help control the midfield.
Martinelli – What a young player we have in him! Constantly badgering defenders. A delight!
G. Jesus – Defending, scoring, creating spaces. An excellent recruit so far!
Arteta – Found his system and best XI and also keeping the team focus and grounded. Nothing has been won so far.
COYG!
The team to beat is Man City really…With their midfield (De Bruyne-Silva) supporting Haaland, they are going to score many goals…Haaland is a future Golden Ball, forget Mbappe…
Did you write that RC, if so thanks for the read.
Hi LB – indeed. How did you like the game yesterday?
I am still on a high RC, can’t stop singing the Granit Xhaka song.
Although, I think if there was a Thomas Partey song I would be singing that.
What the xhaka sound LB?
Granit Xhaka, we got
Granit Xhaka, we got
Nobody else buzzing still from NLD victory?
One player that has impressed me is Ben White on Saturday – by far his best performance as RB for us. He has taken that spot now and Tomy is the back-up, which means that Soares is…a utility player at best at the moment.
I think that in midweek, we will play a lot of our usual subs but am hoping Ramsdale plays and Granit may have to play since Mo is injured:
Ramsdale – Cedric, Tomy, Holding, Tierney – Sambi, Granit – Marquinhos, Fabio, RN – Nketiah
All good points, RC.
Partey and Xhaka work really well together in Arteta’s system.
Also agreed on your points re Ben White.
I am the biggest fan yet, but I thought Martinelli was amazing. The lay off to Granit shows he is maturing.
Top performance by all. They made us proud.
*not the biggest fan yet..
Martinelli is really a gem. He can really take on multiple players, he is brave, fast and skillful. He needs to be better at decision-making (when to stick to the line, when to drive inside, when to lay off, when to cross, when to shoot…). I think that he will move to a CF position in the future, a bit like TH14…
I think that Edu-Arteta will want to bolster the squad at CB, DM-CM and FW in the next transfer windows.
For CB, it will be a big choice on whether Gabs remain our main CB with Saliba or if we upgrade on Gabs…
For the DM-CM, I think D. Luiz may be the right fit for us but we could also look into Fofana from Monaco.
For the FW, I think we will go for a wing player or a “Giroud” type of player and Gakpo is certainly looking strong on the wings but may be too expensive so options like Barnes, Bowen may be explored and then if we go for the other profile, we could go for a player like Arnautovic, Muriqi, Destro, Delort, Slimani or De Jong or even Benteke.
Anyways…TOP OF THE LEAGUE still but Man City looks unplayable with the De Bruyne-Haaland axis
Fofana, Sambi – Vieira could work out well
Marquinhos, Eddie, Barnes too
The squad is pretty good, but I guess you like to do these squad-growth comments. We need another experienced goal scorer in the squad for those tricky away games when nerves and inexperience still show too much. But getting this right is not easy as we have seen recently with the flops Willian and Mkhitaryan.
Hi Total – I agree the squad is already pretty good indeed 🙂
Balogun doing well in the French league. I think that if he goes for another loan next season, he will come back as a complete player. He is learning fast in the French league but will be nice to see him in the EPL outfit next year, maybe with a promoted team.
