Arsenal do Brazil?

Our Brazilian players’ contingency is growing since Edu has arrived, no?

  1. David Luiz, Martinelli last year
  2. Willian, Gabriel this year

Two older players in Luiz and Willian and two young promising players in Gabriel and Martinelli. Two defenders and two forward players.

Below two major hypothetical questions:

  1. We are just missing a player like Gilberto Silva and/or Edu to have a Brazilian player in each line. So, here is a list of Brazilian DM/CMs players that could be looked at if we were to, hypothetically, engage a player purely based on nationality and position and known by the many not the few:

DM: Fabinho, Casemiro, Fernandinho, Luiz Gustavo, Ramires, Lucas Leiva, Mattheus Henrique

CM: Allan, Guimares, Paqueta, Coutinho

2. Shall the fanbase come up with a song with a Brazilian air for Willian and Martinelli when they score and Luiz and Gabriel when they put in a great tackle or a goal? If so, which Brazilian air/song should it be? There are well known pop song classics like La Lambada, Samba de Janeiro, Ai Se Eu Te Pego for example…

Anyways, the point of this post is to know how you feel about the growing Brazilian contingency in our ranks. At PSG, we have a history with Brazilian players and one thing is for sure is that even if they are not the best players, they always play with heart – which is already a big plus ๐Ÿ™‚

    love it

  2. Els says:

I love the brazillian sway of our team. But what ARE the rules on homegrown players and possible new santions after leaving the EU?

It’s becoming obvious to me that there’s a concerted effort by bigger clubs to use more homegrown talent and that more emphasis is beimg put on academy graduates too. That’s great in my eyes however it’s at odds with our hoarding of Brazillians.

Arsenal will always have Angel Gabriel

Please dont give up on Partey. A combination of Vieira and Gilberto was the description yesterday on the BBC. I know that that MUST be an exaggeration, but the double centre half, central holding midfielder triangle is so important to ou future success, I believe!!

    Hi, RC,

It is possible to sometimes forget that footballers have all the usual human characteristics just like the rest of us.

OK, they are skilful players and highly remunerated, but for those who are born overseas, I suspect that if they are the only one in the team from South America or Africa or elsewhere in the world, they possibly feel lonely, even if they get on well with their other team mates.

Take David Luiz, for example, he is probably delighted that an ex-Chelsea team mate, the Brazilian player (Willian) has joined Arsenal, and off the field they and their families can keep each other company.

Additional Brazilian players would reinforce that bond, and make Arsenal feel like their home from home.

This bonding would apply to others too, like the French contingent, or players of African origin, or our Spanish players, etc, so I hope more top players find a home at Arsenal, and meet up with their fellow countrymen, and together help us take the next step towards the top four, or even the title.

    The more the merrier. ๐Ÿ˜

We’re all partial to a Brazilian, RC ๐Ÿ˜œ
Looking forward to seeing our new recruits out there.. 9 days to go… yippee!!

  8. Sue says:

Sokratis fairly close to joining Napoli. Probably in the coming week.
Kolasinac has several suitors, as mentioned a few days ago. He will most likely leave for around ยฃ10mil.
Torreira currently considering 3 offers from Italy. He wonโ€™t be an Arsenal player much longer. #AFC

RC.. Looks like Allan is joining Everton, along with James Rodriguez (๐Ÿ˜ณ)… and Doucoure!! Wow, imagine the look on Tony Bellew’s face right now!!

  9. fred1266 says:

    Good luck in Germany sue

    ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ love it, Fred ๐Ÿ‘

Ceba’s loan deal to be announced any time now ๐Ÿ™‚

Nobody has told me yet which Brazilian player they would take nor which song should be the basis for our Brazilian anthem.

I d take Casemiro and Coutinho, of course to have the following line up:

Martinez – Bello, Luiz, Gabriel, Tierney – Ceba, Casemiro – Coutinho – Pepe, Auba, Willian

And for the song I vote for Samba di Janeiro – there is also a dance to it:

For those who watch it or know the song – it will go well for Willian

Willian lalalalala Willian lalalalala Willian lalalalala

  12. LBG says:

The day we signed Igor Stepanov! “Not one of Wenger’s best centre back purchases” says Ray Parlour. Strange how many dodgy centre backs Arsene could be (partly) “blamed” for!!
Remember that 6-1 against Manure, anyone? The ignominy!!

  13. LBG says:

Bit sad to see the Terrier nearly gone to Fiorentina, but money for a “Partey, Partey, Partey”. Yes please.
Sokratis and Kola also nearer the door.

  14. LBG says:

But Anderson from West Ham… thanks! We will be changing our colours to blue and yellow next!

  15. LBG says:

Happy National Fish and Chips Day, AAers

  16. RC78 says:

@LBG – the question is: do you eat your chips with salt and vinegar and dip your fish in the tartare sauce or the other way around?

  17. LBG says:

Dip my chips in tom sauce ( unless I am at The Arsenal, when its curry sauce!). Freshly cooked plaice with tartare sauce essential. Salt and vinegar less necessary! Happy days!

  18. RC78 says:

@LBG – what about mushy peas: minted or unminted?…
For me – cod fish with tartare sauce, fries with tom sauce and a little side of minted mushy peas…My mouth is watering…I may just try to go to our local fish and chips guy for lunch

  19. LBG says:

Never mushy peas or otherwise; …”ffaaar too northan” for me! Liquor with pie and mash sometimes when up East. Or a drop of cockles, with salt, vinegar and tabasco.

  20. LBG says:

    Salt beef in crusty bread!

  21. LBG says:

Sanchez ” I asked to leave ( Manure) after one training session”
The grass is never greener when you leave The Arsenal, Alexis!

  22. fred1266 says:

There was a 6-1 against Manu damn only know about the 8-2

  23. Sue says:

    Mmmm tartar sauce ๐Ÿ˜‹

  24. LBG says:

You youngsters never realise how lucky you’ve had, man! Get some time in!

  25. LBG says:

Mesut training positively with a big smile on his face. If he is not leaving, use him, Mikel! Bola looking pumped! COYG

  26. LBG says:

Ben Sheaf on loan to Coventry. A solid, central midfield player, in the Arsenal mould. Good on the ball, (very right footed), gets stuck in to tackles. Probably too much senior (and now junior) competition at the Club in midfield.

  27. LBG says:

    Anybody else awake today?

  28. fred1266 says:

  29. RC78 says:

Ceba is back! It z official

    Hope that means day staying

  32. fred1266 says:

Yea saw that sue, where was saka though

  33. LBG says:

More evidence of pettiness from Arsenal. Pat Rice and Stuart Houston removed from scouting staff in favour of “data”. Computers know nuffin!

Didn’t even know we had a game today

  36. fred1266 says:
