We are all being subjected to the usual summer torture inflicted upon us by the click harvesters who will go to any depths to get you to take the bait. We know we’re being conned, but we still can’t resist clicking on that ‘exclusive’ story to see if we really are going to sign that world class player.
The title of this post is just such an example … oops! … but rest assured, no one on AA profits from a click … we just want to get you involved in a healthy debate whilst we while away the days/hours/minutes/seconds before the new season starts and we experience a different type of torture all over again.

It is a strange paradox that while the grief of football fans (and it is real grief) is private – we each have an individual relationship with our clubs, and I think that we are secretly convinced that none of the other fans understands quite why we have been harder hit than anyone else – we are forced to mourn in public, surrounded by people whose hurt is expressed in forms different from our own.
Now I know that you (like me) won’t be able to do it, but if you really want to reduce the self flagellation, here are some of the phrases in headlines just this morning that you definitely should avoid clicking on ….
“Arsenal star” … who ever says that?
“Arsenal fans react to” … yeah right, lazy journalism and some tweets from muppets!
In fact anything that uses the word ‘fans’ … fans are for geishas … we’re supporters
Any headline containing the phrases containing “hint, rumoured, set to happen”
“Transfer boost”
“Set to leave”
“The player Arsenal should …”
I could go on and on … but as this is a return to an old AA format of Rant Friday, I’d better stop … no one reads on a Friday any way … so I’m wasting my time …. and that’s another rant off my chest 🙂

Untold Arsenal keep a lot of all rumours. I wonder how many of the rumours are completely fabricated. We all know it, we do nothing. It’s like we are powerless when offered the chance to hear bad news. Same for world news and politics too.
To tell you the truth though this summer I’m taking everything with a pinch of salt. The fact that we are going more academy based means I can concentrate on the likes of Nelson, Sako, Bielik, Willock and the possible line ups they could play in. It all seems a little less fantastical than boring big money signings, that financially f*** the club.

I’ve no issues with rumours & gossip and if somebody can make a few bob putting players names out there then best of luck to them. TBH I find it all a bit of a laugh and if that other blog which takes exception at least twice a week goes into melt down over it then all the better.
Hi SR, we all need to employ our own filter dependent on whether we find rumours entertaining or aggravating. Personally, I know when I read the headline it’s bollix, but I then I usually still read it to see just how crass it is. The post was meant to be light hearted … maybe I should have included more smiley faces.
It appears that Gooners are not as gullible as I supposed because the headline hasn’t attracted that many hits …

Thanks Rasp. I love all the rumours. False hope is what keeps me going. It consoles me that with all the players we should have bought over the last 10 years that we would have won the quadruple 10 times in a row. What’s not to love about that?

As for the rumours, it seems they all start up
– with “Arsenal set to lose out on……due to budget restrictions” – recent examples include: Tierney, Carrasco.
It is rather pathetic – last summer, we didn’t bid for Ndombele or Pepe and those two players’ value has now soared even more.
I think that Klopp was also right when he says that you have to splash the cash to be successful in football these days.

I was playing with the meaning of ‘fan’. 🤪
‘Fan’ as in sports supporter is an abbreviated form of ‘fanatic’, so when other fans have heard my accent and light-heartedly asked whether or not I am a fan — I deliberately ‘misunderstand’ and describe myself as if I am a mechanical cooling fan – which baffles those involved, especially when delivered in an innocent but deadpan way.
Usually results in grins or laughter as the penny drops. 😳
Maybe the joke was on me, as I never imagined it could make me sound like a sex-robot. — true though that is!! 🤴

Zagadou has apparently asked to leave Dortmund as Hummels returns to the Yellow Wall team. Former Psg youth player that has done well for Dortmund, imposing defender but a bit slow. Wouldn’t be my first choice and Saliba is actually more well rounded.
Zaha would be OK as a signing but we don’t necessarily have the funds for him. I d take a more hard working profile like Perisic even if holder and not as fast. The ideal would be Douglas costa from Juve or Rafa Silva.
