Arsenal Huddersfield – Player Ratings

Was it going to be another difficult day exacerbated by yet another appalling ref?

Unfortunately, yes.

First half

So many fouls it was difficult to keep track. Laca missed a simple one by slipping just before shooting.  The half finished with us on 4 bookings and the dirty Udders on 3. That sums up how poor the ref was.

Second half

More of the same except the good guys sneaked a goal via a glorious overhead kick courtesy of our Uruguayan genius.

Summary

Justice done. A team of journeyman turn up running their arses off hoping for a point. Thank Dennis they got diddley squat in return for contributing absolutely nothing to a game of football.

Awful game but three points – on we go.

Bus parking with man for man marking has always been surprisingly effective. Ask Moaninho!
That the Terriers weren’t interested in tickling the chin of the Spirit of Entertaining Football, was not surprising. That, together with the assistance of a piece of shit in black, we were unable to turn them over comfortably was not really surprising. But AAers would we have won last season? Progression, Arse followers! Chin up, onwards and upwards. Dick is considering playing some of the Arsenal Ladies to fill the gaps against Carrier bag and, by the time the Spuds are allowed back into the Home of Football, Southampton will have been squashed with the assistance of a new Kos, a rejuvenated Mesut, and Mrs disMay will be seen running through her fields of wheat chased by Boris begging for sex.
Have a good week, one and all.

Agreed mkhitaryan should have been brought on in the 120th minute

Why you all think he having such an awful season, he getting games, theirs confidence in the team yet still he isn’t playing to his potential

Is this another Ozil situation were because they not comfortable on the wings it affecting there game

  5. Oz gunner says:

    I’d sex LT

    Morning All,

    Nice early post 😀

This sums the afternoon up “Thank Dennis they got diddley squat in return for contributing absolutely nothing to a game of football.”

The referee was so weak he gave no protection to the team trying to play football. Thankfully, our team are capable of standing up to a battering and still conquer.

One negative though …. 3 of our 5 bookings were for “simulation”. All were dives. Is this a policy from Emery? If so, please stop it immediately – it is not the Arsenal Way.

I don’t know if you saw but I actually posted it last night and then this morning woke up and realised that the title with s*** in it wasn’t going to pass the news now filter so I reposted it this morning with a different title and that’s why I copied the two comments which we’re on it last night over to this one.
The title was something like ‘…another shit ref….’ 😊

  8. chas says:

I ‘wrote’ it on the train on the way back. We were stuck at Luton for 45 minutes while we waited for an emergency crew to turn up for a medical problem.

We were then informed that our train would terminate at Leicester, so we’d have to get off and get on the next one going to Notts.

Ant really enjoyed the extra hour of my moaning company. 😅

As you say, the match report is simple – shit match, shit ref, great result.

  9. chas says:

Kanu’s assist made this goal easy……………

  10. Big Raddy says:

    True. No Kanu, No goal

  11. Rasp says:

Thanks chas. Good to see you and the Vines clan before the game yesterday.

I’m afraid my language was a bit too industrial during the game. How many times have we been serially fouled only to receive a yellow for the first foul we commit?

The ref would have ruined the game for me had it not been for the wonderful goal by the flying Uruguayan. I thought Ouzi dived … which was crazy considering he’d got past the fullback and could have delivered a killer ball into the box. I hope he gets that out of his system. Unai has said that he doesn’t want to see simulation, let’s hope he gets that message through to the players.

  12. GunnerN5 says:

Thanks Chas – easy conclusion – it was indeed a foul game.

Overall the refereeing this season has been very sub standard – thank goodness that the video referee is just around the corner, although with the amount of errors we are seeing the games may extend to several hours………………….

  13. Red Arnie says:

well done, Chas. That must be one of the earliest posts on AA. 🙂

Yes, important thing is that we won. Would we have won last year? Yes, likely, which shows we are not going backwards. Onwards and upwards.

Diving? Please dont. We have “class”.

  14. Red Arnie says:

wonderful summary: “Justice done. A team of journeymen turn up running their arses off hoping for a point. Thank Dennis they got diddley squat in return for contributing absolutely nothing to a game of football.”

  15. fred1266 says:

Don’t think video ref would makes things any better G5 , have seen some appalling decision given by them

  16. Aaron says:

Just a question: Are the ratings satire?
As the team played as well as expected given the changes and opportunities to score from hudds. Leno kept a clean sheet, the team played 3 super physical games in one week, and got no protection from the ref. And as usual the Laca goal was overturned. If the Arsenal can just get a goal in the first half, these games would be much easier to see out as the other sides would have to come to play. I think all the ratings should be 7 or higher especially given our team won.

Chas those videos are priceless. Made me spit up my coffee with laughter, as those 2 clips perfectly epitomize those 2 young lads!

  17. GunnerN5 says:

Fred, video is used effectively in most major sports, as in any new innovation there will be teething problems but in the end it will be far more accurate than us mere mortals.

  18. chas says:

    Aaron
To begin with I gave everyone a 7 apart from Terrier. Then I thought that it was a pretty poor game so just about average was right for ratings. They’re only there to give readers something to bounce off and they always depend on your starting point for an average performance. Besides, I watched through a drunken haze and no one really stood out except LT11.

Here are some proper ratings from Arseblog for comparison.

    https://arseblog.news/2018/12/arsenal-1-0-huddersfield-player-ratings/

  19. RC78 says:

    Leno – 5.5
    Bellerin – 5.5
    Lichten – 5.5
    Mustafi – 5.5
    Sokratis – 6
    Kola – 6.5
    Xhaka – 6.5
    LT – 8
MG – 7 just for the pre-assist and the usual drive
    Laca – 6
Auba – 7 for the chance and the assist

    Iwobi – 5.5
    Mikhy – 5.5
    Monreal – 6

    Squad for next EPL game:
Leno – Bello, Licht, Monreal, Kola – MG, LT, Xhaka – Laca, Auba, Iwo

  20. RC78 says:

I think that if Ramsey is set to leave, we should do a swap deal with Rabiot from PSG. Rabiot would enjoy playing in the EPL and likes to play as CM so he would compete with MG, Xhaka, Mikhy. He wants to play more up front though and Emery likes him too.

In the summer, we need to try our luck with Douglas Costa of Juventus.

  21. Big Raddy says:

RC. I can’t see Rabiot coming to AFC, especially as he would not be certain to be a first choice player. IMO Xhaka is the better player, though I have seen far more of Xhaka!

I think Rabiot has stalled in his development. When I first saw him playing for PSG in Malmo, Rabiot looked like a top class MF prospect. Now, I would say that he may not be as good as Guendouzi can be.

Douglas Costa I would love to see at AFC

  22. Red Arnie says:

Still bringing a smile every time I think of it. That Didley Squat sentence is the best laugh I have had in AA in a long time. 🙂

  23. LBG says:

    GN5
Describing that referee as a “mere mortal” is being unfair to mere mortals!!

  24. LBG says:

If Mav is not ready, please give Dominic Thompson a go on Thursday. I predict a significant find.
