Our Cup Final.

This is a game to get the blood coursing through the veins. It is almost winner takes all and possibly our most important game of the season (huge exaggeration but you get the drift!).

If I am honest I am not optimistic. I know we won there last season, I know City have just lost an important game, I know that they have a few injuries and those who are fit are misfiring and for City this could be “After the Lord Mayor’s Show” …

But We are The Arsenal and in recent years we struggle when the pressure is really on.

Living in Copenhagen I am often asked why the Danes are The Happiest Nation on Earth (THNOE), amongst my answers is this- Happiness is directly linked to Expectation. If I expect to be first and come second I will be disappointed whereas if I expect to finish third and finish second I am happy with my result. I expect Arsenal to lose this afternoon 😀

The game would have been even more interesting had WHU not blown up yesterday. They are playing Man Utd midweek with the winner having the chance to gain CL qualification. Sadly, their bubble has burst (:-D )

Pellegrini, whose final home game is the honour of facing The Arsenal,  has been a fine addition to the PL. Had he been a few years younger (62 y.o) I think he could have been a good successor to Mr Wenger.

Do you think that Coq-elny are a copy or as good as the MC Fernandinho midfield defensive axis? And will AW play both Coq and Elneny in order to give us more protection against the pace and strength of Aguero and Sterling/Navas? He hasn’t in recent games.

Will Cazorla get pitch time? Or Wilshire?  Will Sanchez start on the right? My guess is that we will start with  the following:

Bellerin   Paul Easter    Koscielny    Monreal

Ramsey     Elneny    Coquelin

Sanchez     Welbeck    Ozil

Mr. Wenger, please, please, pretty please, do not start with OG. I like the Big Galoomph but as an impact substitute, Welbz gives us pace and a different dimension plus he hates City.

We are reaching the point when the bench is a difficult choice, we have such squad depth when all are fit. Had all been available throughout the season we would be hailing AFC as PL Champions but the fates have not been kind.

A point would be very, very welcome but ff we lose today we always have Aston Villa to finish the season on a high and leave me with a happy summer.

Should be an exciting afternoon – especially for those in the Prawn Sandwich section.

    Super stuff Raddy, thanks.

I’d play your team but with Iwobi in place of Ramsey (never gonna happen).

Because of everything that has gone before, this is the most important game of the season.

Unfortunately the spuds play first and if they beat the saints a little of the MWG’ness will have worn off, but 3rd is much better than 4th so I hope we give it every last bit of energy and commitment.

  2. GoonerB says:

Thanks Raddy and thanks for yesterdays post as well. Just read it.

So you live in THNOE that boasted TBSTEL do you Raddy? No need to rub it in pal.

We can turn Man City over by being hard to break down and play the counter-attacking game.

I go with your back line and would also play both Elneny and Coq together. Santi and Jack can give us good options from the bench. Ozil sits in front of those 2. The key is having your 3 quickest players who have an eye for goal. For me I would go with Theo up top specifically for this game with Danny to the left and Alexis to the right.

We have better options out wide than Theo so he doesn’t get a look in there for me but this game could suit him up top. The right tactics wins for us today. As such I am expecting the teachers pets of Ramsey and Giroud to be shoehorned in Raddy and then probably lose the game 🙂

    Cheers, BR.
    Deffo a MNL game today.
I’m sure I’m going to have a good day regardless of the result. 🙂

  5. Ant says:

Theo up top.. That’s brilliant GB.

  6. chas mobile says:

    Theo up front Hahaha.
Why come out with negative stuff like that at this time in the morning?

  7. Ant says:

The Arsenal Ambassadors are on their way..

  8. Eddie says:

first AA blog I read in yonks, oooohhh it is so good to be able to read Raddy’s PM’s again 🙂

Yes, MWG, we will lose, OG will start.

Are Danes really happy? I thought it was the Irish. Not being racist or sarcastic but I am sure that stupid people are much happier than the clever clogs. Look at Chas 🙂 🙂 🙂

why the suit? are you getting married?

  9. mickydidit89 says:

    Excellent Erik

Can’t wait for game. Quick picnic by the river first.

At last, Chas looks “acceptable” 🙂

Don’t think OG will start, and think that without Kompany, we will thrash them

    See yarl at KO

Enjoy Chas and Ant. Pics from the executive resto much appreciated. Thank you please

  10. Ant says:

You’re always very happy Eddie when you are with us as part of the Ant and Duck match going experience

  11. Ant says:

  12. chas mobile says:

    I is a bit fick.
I is mostly happy as a happy bunny.

I feel sorry for you miserable intelligent ones. 🙂

I’m hoping to meet someone nice at the game, hence the suit. Hopefully someone from Thailand minus any extra appendages.

  13. Big Raddy says:

Nothing quite like a Thai friend with benefits (so I am told)

Eddie. Probably true about thicko’s. I guess the Viking genes do not make for an enlightened population 😀

GB. I give up …. what is TBSTEL ?

  14. Rasp says:

I think that light blue suit may be a bit tight on Ant 🙄

Eddie, they’re guests in the upper echelons of corporate so have to dress appropriately

  15. Rasp says:

The Best Story Teller That Ever Lived? … too many Ts, but they are obsessed with HCA

  16. Rasp says:

In my brief sojourn to Denmark, it did appear that HCA was a bit overhyped – statues and references all over the place …. he wasn’t exactly Shakespeare 🙂

  19. Big Raddy says:

Agree about HCA. Most of my guests are hugely disappointed with TLM.

  22. Rasp says:

Raddy, your predictions about my visit were spot on.

Far too long spent in the car. Skagen was great but the 650 mile round trip tedious. Once you’ve seen one chalet bungalow with a perfectly symmetrical window arrangement set amongst miles of flat farmland in Jutland – you’ve seen it all.

The half day I spent in Copenhagen was the best part, topped by the meal in Papiroen in the evening – a great atmosphere, live music, fantastic food and beer 🙂

The biggest squirrel that ever lived?

  25. Big Raddy says:

    chas 😀 😀

  26. Big Raddy says:

    Rasp. It is my job!

  27. Rasp says:

Do you take parties to Papiroen?

We hired a very slow battery powered boat and just about got to the edge of Christiania before we had to turn back. I was a guest so couldn’t complain, but it would not have been the itinerary I would have favoured.

My nephew hates the new opera house, says its a waste of money – I rather liked it. The architecture is quite stunning. Even the factory/office buildings are striking and somehow never look out of place however whacky the design.

  28. Rasp says:

Apologies, I shouldn’t be hogging the blog with personal stuff …. back to the footie …..

What a fitting end to John Terry’s career. His team fail to get a European place next season and he gets sent off, missing the last home game of the season where presumably he would have received some kind of send off 😆

  29. Ant says:

  30. chas mobile says:

    I like your personal stuff.
Might have to plan an AA trip to Copenhagen.
    Know any good guides?

  31. Rasp says:

Hi chas, Copenhagen is well worth a visit (if you haven’t been there before). It’s spotlessly clean but not as cosmopolitan as I had expected – quite white middle class in fact. The diet isn’t as healthy as I’d expected either. You don’t get much veg with your meals and they seem to put cream in a lot of their drinks as well as having a penchant for pastries 🙂 But the people are very nice and the architecture worth the visit alone.

I can’t think of any good guides – perhaps Raddy can suggest someone 😆

  32. chas mobile says:

Been to Copenhagen but only for 2000 UEFA cup final. 😦

  33. Rasp says:

Hmmm, we lost on penalties if I remember correctly 😦

  34. Eddie says:

it was funny on the radio today – Spuds were phoning and complaining about poisoned atmosphere at the Bridge, oozing with hatred, their poor unexperienced lads having their heart ripped out …ha ha ha, that really hurt them

  35. Eddie says:

Southampton have nothing to play for but their pride

  36. Cheers Raddy

Yes, the Etihad? Hope the Vine boys have a good day out.

Never been there, but went to the old Maine Road a few times. What a place? The sort of gaff were some poor Syrian refugees are sent as a punishment

Was having an argument with some geezer in the pub last night “Terry, these Syrians ain’t proper refugees, there all middle class”

I thought, right you fucker, they risk there lives crossing the sea coz they’ve heard it’s a good school catchment area and as soon they get of the boat they ask for a quiche.

The Maine Road area is so shit that those poor refugees now have to wear wrist bands to identify themselves. Why? Because when the locals found out aid agencies were handing out free food, all the locals turned up pretending to speak Arabic.

What is it with us Brits and wrist bands anyway? I recall a few years back everyone wearing a wristband “make world poverty history”

I remember waking up the day that campaign ended thinking “thank fuck for that, world poverty is now ended”. Fantastic.

I reckon we will beat them 3-0.

  37. Whils I’m at it. All that money City have come into? It’s not right. Like a fat man with a nose picking habit given a handkerchief

An obnoxious twat with a chequered employment history shouldn’t be given millions of pounds. When a solicitor gives me legal advice I don’t want to hear that last week he fitted my neighbors carpet?

What will he say to the Judge? Let him off yer honour, he’s got laminate flooring?

City will always be upstarts. Mind you, it could be worse, they could be Chelsea. That’s like finding out some neo nazi wanker has just won the lottery and because he don’t like foreigners, rather than spend his money travelling the world, he plans to blow a million quid on the Butlins slot machines

  38. Eddie says:

    ssshhhhh…….say nothing, don’t jinx it

  39. Rasp says:

Ozil has a thigh problem. That’s an attacking line up, I hope it’s not a mistake to start with Giroud 😦

  40. mickydidit89 says:

Not saying a word but…. get outa here, just seen the score 🙂

  41. Rasp says:

Haha, the tiny totts lose 🙂 , that means we only need a draw against city, and then for toon to do us a favour in the final game.

  42. Eddie says:

    what fecking bottlers 🙂 🙂

  43. mickydidit89 says:

    he he he he

  44. Rasp says:

twitter is awash with spud fans calling themselves bottlers

  45. mickydidit89 says:

I just always feel so damn gloomy when I see Ollie’s name on the team sheet.
Oh well, lets just thump it long and hope for that it pings off him nicely
Ok Didit, think positive. He hasn’t scored since 1908, and all bad runs come to an end eventually 🙂

  46. Gööner In Exile says:

Been out to lunch just back seen Spuds score…today just got very interesting

  47. Rasp says:

Micky, if we slag OG off enough he’s certain to score just to spite us.

I don’t know what level of fitness Jack is at, but if he’s up to it, I’d have put Welbeck up front and Jack behind to pull the strings and left OG on the bench.

  48. Rasp says:

Assuming we don’t lose today, the important game becomes Sunderland v Everton on Wednesday. We need Everton to win so that toon need to beat the totts to have a chance to stay up on Sunday.

  49. fatgingergooner says:

Big game this. Don’t want to be playing qualifying games for CL next season with the Euro’s on aswell.

We could still finish above Spurs too which would be hilarious given how special everyone says they are!

  50. Big Raddy says:

Not sure about that team. Where is Coquelin?

  51. Eddie says:

a ya ya ya yay fattie, this is such bad thing to say, bad luck….

  52. mickydidit89 says:

If one of the caterers were “up to it” as you put it, they would get the nod over Ollie if I was in charge 🙂

  53. fatgingergooner says:

You can blame me if it goes wrong Eddie! I don’t fancy us today anyway, think a draw might be most likely result.

  54. fatgingergooner says:

I’d have gone with Coquelin next to Elneny and Ramsey at 10 with Iwobi wide and Welbeck upfront. We keep seeing teams winning with 30% possession and I would’ve liked to have seen us play in the counter. City leave themselves wide open at times, although I notice they’ve gone with 2 workers in midfield rather than Yaya so they might be a bit stronger defensively today.

  55. RockyLives says:

    Hello Peoples
Got to love footy – always gives you new reasons to get excited.

Suddenly today becomes much than just a fight for third.

The Spuds couldn’t bottle it all the way to third place…

    Could they?

  56. mickydidit89 says:

    Ahoy Rocky
With or without anything to play for, it may be Toons last home game in the Prem. With the sun on their backs, and ale in the fans, they will beat Totts.

    Come on you Gunnnnnners

  57. Rasp says:

Hi Rocky, I pray we finish above them. The bastards are crowing already and in the next breath branding themselves as bottlers. Massive chip on the shoulders of totts supporters 🙂

  58. mickydidit89 says:

    Here’s the bench
Ospina, Gibbs, Coquelin, Wilshere, Cazorla, Campbell, Walcott

    Coq is fit. Weird

  59. fatgingergooner says:

Terrible start ever since kick off. Awful

  60. RockyLives says:

Santi on the bench – wonder if we’ll see the CoqZorla pivot reunited before the end of the day…

  61. Rasp says:

And then we play like twats 😦

  62. Olliieeeeeeeeee yeeeeees

  63. mickydidit89 says:

    The Catererrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 🙂

  64. Rasp says:

And then we play like geniuses 🙂

  65. kelsey says:

    hahaha 😉

  66. Rasp says:

I told you Ollie was good Micky 😀

  67. fatgingergooner says:

Pretty obvious why these teams are not title contenders!

    Awful defending

  68. Excuse me Raddy, I haven’t had a chance to read the pre-match but I will.

  69. Big Raddy says:

    OG ………..

  70. kelsey says:

    Stop dooming FGG 😉

  71. fatgingergooner says:

    6-6 draw?

  72. Helloooooo everybody 😃😃😃

  73. fatgingergooner says:

Sorry Kelsey! I need some of your positivity! 😉

  74. fatgingergooner says:

I get the feeling Welbeck on the counter could be key today

  75. Rasp says:

I wonder if chas let out a subdued cheer when we equalised? 🙂

  76. Will our ambassadors be able to sing Arsenal songs in the posh d’you think?

  77. mickydidit89 says:

You moan about awful defending, but we’ve had two goals in the first ten minutes

While this makes you sad, it makes me a little closer to calling for an outright ban on defenders. Dreadful creatures

  78. fatgingergooner says:

    That’s Welbs out of Euro’s!

I won’t mention any more players as I seem to be bad luck! 😄

  79. RockyLives says:

    Mention some of theirs, FGG

  80. fatgingergooner says:

We’d be fine Micky because we’ve only got 1! 😂

  81. fatgingergooner says:

That Otamendi and Mangala pairing looks solid. I’m glad Hart is England’s keeper too because he looks safe as houses.

  82. Unlike Cech who obviously wants the madcap award for the season

  83. Rasp says:

They’re saying that Welbeck has done his knee – that’s the one that has been troubling him all season 😦

  84. Proper cup final this 🙂

  85. Rasp says:

    Yellow cards on the way?

  86. fatgingergooner says:

Lots of players slipping. Nearly cost us there.

  87. kelsey says:

  88. kelsey says:

sanchezif he upped his game might just do the trick or Ramsey’s first goal in 3 seasons might help.

  89. kelsey says:

Did you know Barnet FC have four different kits for next season,Fact.

  90. kelsey says:

Did ytou know Clichy only shakes hands with opponents or anyone when he has gloves on.Fact.

  91. Have we actually been able to have a passage of possession????

  92. Rasp says:

Bring on Santi in the second half, we’ve missed his control of the game.

  93. Big Raddy says:

Getting a bit hairy. We need some possession or are we playing Rope a Dope?

  94. kelsey says:

I blame those shirts and the answer is no.peaches.We will have to really defend well.if it remains 1-1 Aw will play for that banking on winning next week.Dangerous tactics with our defence.

  95. fatgingergooner says:

Awful half! Thank Christ City are as terrible as us!

I’d like to see Cazorla on but don’t like the idea of having Wilshere, Cazorla, Ramsey and Sanchez at the same time. I think we need someone with pace who can threaten in behind as we’ve lost that with Welbs going off. Dare I say Walcott!? 🤐

  96. Oh gosh Thierry looks worried 😦

  97. Big Raddy says:

Major negative of a half where we were second best was the injury to Welbeck. Really sad for the man.

    Sanchez looks tired.

  98. Do we actually even bother to protect the ball when we have possession …….. so gung ho

  99. Agree about Danny, poor lad, he’s one of our proper footballers 😦

  100. Aaron says:

    Thank goodness for Giroud! lol
Feel bad for Danny, as I assume it is medial or lateral ligament damage…grrr
An aside Jack looks up for this. Really….
Come on Arsenal nick this one..

  101. fatgingergooner says:

  102. Awful awful defending again

  103. Aaron says:

Spoke too early De Bruyne runs forever…sound familiar and scores from miles out…

  104. Rasp says:

Pathetic defending once again. Was no one man enough to stop De Bruyne?

  105. kelsey says:

nothing new,we have been like this for months. How we are still in the top 4 is a miracle.I have a feeling this won’t be the last goal we concede today. Was cech partly at fault for both goals or not

  106. Gööner In Exile says:

I believe many other keepers would have kept both goals out today.

  107. Big Raddy says:

We should have had a penalty before their second

    Homer referee again 🙂

  108. Gööner In Exile says:

    We have missed Ozil today

  109. kelsey says:

ozil handed in a transfer request and got dropped

  110. Rasp says:

Like most teams this season, city are working harder than us. It’s like we’re always playing against superior numbers because the pressing and movement of the opposition is irresistable

  111. fatgingergooner says:

    Theo’s first touch 👎

  112. mickydidit89 says:

  113. fatgingergooner says:

Great goal! That’s a proper first touch 👍

  114. Gööner In Exile says:

    Get in.

As soon as we have started moving the ball on first touch we’ve looked better (and that’s only been for 2 minutes or so)

  115. Aaron says:

  116. mickydidit89 says:

my hat is doffed to Ollie. Great assist

  117. Rasp says:

I agree GiE, all of a sudden the one touch football returned, superb goal

  118. kelsey says:

That was a great goal in our best period of play. What would we do without Sanchez

  119. kelsey says:

You don’t wear a hat unless you bored one from Boy George

  120. fatgingergooner says:

What a touch from Giroud 😍

  121. fatgingergooner says:

We are trying to play out when we’d be better using Giroud to hold it up.

  122. fatgingergooner says:

City have to go for it so maybe we can sneak one on the break.

  123. Rasp says:

This games has had glimpses of how good we can be and long passages of what’s been wrong with us all season

  124. kelsey says:

maybe we should get mourinho for a couple of seasons,at least he defends a lead not a draw. for the onlytime in the match we had City rattled AW decides to go defensive trying to hold on,when we could win this.

  125. fatgingergooner says:

Good result. Finally played ok for last 30 minutes. Beat Villa and we are at least third.

  126. Eddie says:

    great game.

  127. fatgingergooner says:

I’m not sure United will beat West Ham in their final match at Upton Park so City will still probably end up 4th.

  128. Gööner In Exile says:

I’m trying to understand why we were happy with a point, that leaves us as open as City surely? Ok I know we “should” get a point against Villa, but is anyone really banking on it.

For the brief couple of minutes leading up to the second goal we moved the ball first touch, all started by Rambo’s great pass into Theo behind Clichy. We then pinged it round scored the goal and went back to two three four touches.

  129. kelsey says:

in defence of Giroud he does try his best and can lay the ball off well but will never be the answer to be a poacher come striker.Anyway a good result overall and considering what city have spent we came out the better but we are still a long way off.

  130. kelsey says:

i actually agree with you GIE.Villa will be totally relaxed and our home record isn’t great against the lower teams.Every time we play it isn’t a given.

  131. Rasp says:

Sanchez may not be a happy bunny, but he has scored 2 very important equalisers – against the spuds and city

  132. kelsey says:

He needs better players on the pitch with himI bet he is really frustrated as shown last week .no major signings and he will be off

  133. Rasp says:

Kelsey, where did you get the ‘Ozil has asked for a transfer story from?’ – or were you joking?

  134. fatgingergooner says:

We have the second best home record in the league since August 2013.

We are happy with a point because it means it’s in our own hands to finish third. If we go for another goal and end up conceding then we could finish fourth even if we beat Villa. Now all we need is a point and we finish 3rd.

Hopefully Newcastle will need a win last game of season and we can nick second.

  135. Big Raddy says:

There is as much basis in Kelsy’s Ozil comment as there is in Rasp’s one about Sanchez.

Has Alexis said he wants out or is unhappy?

FFS Ozil was in the press today stating how he has many targets at AFC and is very happy.

    You guys …..

  136. Rasp says:

72% pass completion tells a story, we still need to address the problem of losing our fluency when being pressed. Having said that, I’d have taken being in this position a few weeks ago.

  137. Big Raddy says:

Today was a terrific game which had my emotions swinging all over the place. We scored two great goals and conceded two awful ones.

Leaving MC with a draw is a laudable performance and as FGG says, it is in our hands now.

Arsenal will beat AV …. anyone want to bet me a fish on it?

  138. Big Raddy says:

If I had been told that we would be 20 (yes, 20) points ahead of Chelsea with a game to play I would have thought it was a joke.

    I guess it is.

  139. Gööner In Exile says:

I think whenever I’ve been to Emirates to watch us play Villa we have lost…..(including one last home game). Thankfully I’m not going on weekend and also Abonglahor our memos is both games isn’t playing either.

  140. kelsey says:

I was joking for god’s sake about Ozil, though it wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted out. 😉

  141. Big Raddy says:

    Doomer 🙂

  142. mickydidit89 says:

I can see City losing in Swansea, and Utd maybe drawing in East London, so Villa won’t matter, and therefore we will win 🙂

  143. mickydidit89 says:

Right now, I am a little concerned about our great club’s reputation as our ambassadors move on to the complimentary crème de menthe chasers

  144. fatgingergooner says:

Man City have won 1 game this season against sides in the top 8.

That’s shocking! And they say we should spend more money! What’s the point?

  145. kelsey says:

I like Welbeck buti looks like we have bought yet another injury prone player.AW certainly has a knack at this.Anyway he can have either Diaby’s or Rosicky’s bed in the sick bay.

Actually we can still finish 2nd,3d,4th or 5th.

Seriously, just 6 new great players, a new younger manager and chuck those old gold shirts away and we are there.Simple. I still think Koeman might at least be interviewed.

Now Walcott is a post in itself.Never seen a player that drifts in and out of a game as he does, regardless when he starts and at 100K+ he should have scored when we had the momentum.

  146. Rasp says:

Excuse me Raddy, I didn’t claim Sanchez wants out, I was referencing those who say he does if you read back 🙂

  147. fatgingergooner says:

I don’t remember him being injury prone at United, Kelsey. He’s had a bad injury and quite often a couple of others follow.

Apparently that’s our 44th injury this season. Leicester have had 9.

  148. mickydidit89 says:

I carried on watching the sky bit after the game, and 90% of fans hadn’t bothered to stay behind for the players wavey thing, let alone say ta ra to Pellegrini

Wow, talk about spoilt brats and how money changes things

  149. kelsey says:

No FGG injury prone since we bought him and why did unitedd sell him. I truly like him but that stat is staggering about injuries. We have the money it needs a full investigation as all our injury prone players are quite different in physique and positions they play.

Do any of you really think Ozil and Sanchez will hang around if this inconsistency keeps repeating itself.
I maybe a broken record to some, but this season and last we could have won the league and that is what annoys me.
if we were mid table year after year it would be a different scenario. Not spending last Summer has cost us dear and as someone else said 9who blogs on here) there could well be 7 or 8 clubs fighting it out next season. All the so called big names have to buy and how much quality is available and we will never compete with at least 3 clubs in wages that i can think of.

I weigh everything up and we need a complete clean sweep from coaching, scouting and manager even if that means have a few really bad seasons, but it isn’t going to happen.I am proud of our club but everything and everyone from Kroenke down is so predictable.

Fantastic draw, well played boys, 3rd place sorted

  152. Ant says:

    Chas is asleep

  153. Ant says:

    Come on you Gunners

  154. fatgingergooner says:

We do need to improve, but let’s not forget that out of all the ‘big teams’ we are ending the season highest in the table. That would suggest we need less improvement than others and I expect us to strengthen in the summer. We will be there challenging with the others and fingers crossed we will be the side that only has 9 injuries and gets 12 penalties in the season, just like Leicester did this year. Those are the little things that make a massive difference to who wins the title.

  155. Ant says:

Agree FGG. Always look on the bright of life.. Especially after 34 units of alcohol

  156. Ant says:

  157. mickydidit89 says:

effing well wake him up now Ant
At least loosen his jaw, wait ’till the dribbling begins and snap. post.

  158. Ant says:

Nibbles were good but I still prefer Chas’s pack up… But 28 alcoholic units on Nissan is a bonus

  159. mickydidit89 says:

Was the wine good with the nibbles
(the wine was the grape juice that came in the tall glass bottles)

  160. Ant says:

We’re at Sheffield.. And Chas thinks we’re in Nottingham.: another nap required

  161. Ant says:

We only resorted to wine when the beer had been drunk

  162. mickydidit89 says:

    put something on his head

  163. Ant says:

    Like a bag or what?

  164. mickydidit89 says:

Soft fruit is best, but a bag is an excellent substitute

  165. mickydidit89 says:

Did you enjoy the sesame tuille with your blackcurrent compote, or are you more of an aerated mousse man?

  166. mickydidit89 says:

I apologise if I’m dragging you down to my level, as you may prefer to discuss defensive strategies.
The only problem is this, I don’t give a shit

  167. mickydidit89 says:

    I better go.
Been surfing with my son this weekend, went to a bloody party with them all last night, had a picnic today and now they want me to go and talk to them.
    Unbelievable. So demanding.

  168. Janman says:

Such a shame and a disgrace to learn that Arsenal fans were fighting between themselves in the away stand over the stupid banners. I have to concur with an earlier comment that in spite of all the doom and gloom from the regular suspects we are currently in third place and could still possibly finish 2nd and out of all of the so called previous top four teams we are actually ahead of all of them. Remember no one has an automatic right to win the EPL. Could we have done better, of course we could but I see the glass as half full compared to half empty. Oh and unless you are God no one controls injuries, they simply happen in any sport so not sure how injuries can be blamed on Mr. Wenger! As for Sanchez and all the comments about him being off because he was subbed are just plain stupid, no player is happy to be subbed and in my opinion that is a good reaction from Sanchez as it only proves how much he wants to play. People should stop believing every story that is made up in the English newspapers. A win next week wraps up 3rd place and for now that is all that matters.

  169. Ant says:

Sorry Micky, battery nearly done, love it! Cheer up Kelsey!

  170. Gööner In Exile says:

I’m trying to figure out what Aerated Mousse is sounds like a posh way of saying “we over did it with the espuma gun” and it’s just foam now.

  171. Gööner In Exile says:

On injuries it’s worth looking at Danny’s today. He was hungry to get the ball back, tackled with the wrong foot (should be using his left leg imo) and gets a shin into his knee and gets the lateral movement and hence injured.

Could be a weakness from recent injury but can’t say the lad isn’t ripped, his thigh muscles would put most to shame and his calf doesn’t exactly look limp, but you know what there is absolutely zero you can do to strengthen ligaments they are what they are and they can only suffer so much stress before moving, they are also only designed to move in certain ways, for a knee backwards and forwards and to allow your shin to go as far as the kneecap but no further.

The two most common knee injuries in football are hyperextension, (foot slides away from you while weight is behind your knee and tour shin ends up ahead of your kneecap) not pleasant the damage I did to my cartilage when this happened has never repaired so if I just turn my head while walking in a straight line on uneven ground my knee can give way.

The other is caused by lateral movement of the knee whilst everything else is rigid, if Danny gets impacted an inch higher or lower he probably plays on so its just bad bad luck caused by a smidge of poor decision making.

Soft tissue injuries are preventable, most joint related injuries come down to the incident in question, some can be totally innocuous and lead to months out, others can be the result of challenge.

  172. Ant says:

Aerated mousse was rubbish..and as for the tuille and Prosecco and ginger mirror… What a load of old bollox….as Catherine Tate’s Nan would say

  173. Ant says:

    The beer was excellent

  174. RC78 says:

    Wenger has targeted:
    – Xhaka
    – Kante
    – Sturridge

How do you feel about these 3 players?

  175. TheArse says:

‘The’ (???) Arse can go fcuk it in The Ass coz they not getting The Champions League footy The next season.
The in fact, they’ll be falling down The Table before The Season ends and The fans will be moaning again and calling for The Arsenes The Head .. as usual!
    The got it?

  176. njstone9 says:

They would be good signings, in general. Kante would displace Coquelin and may make our somewhat fragile defence get better results. Xhaka sounds like top quality and with Wilshere, Cazorla, Ramsey all vying for those central slots, we’d have a lot of variety in there.

Sturridge is a bit risky. Worried about his injury record and whether he would be a big enough upgrade on Giroud or Welbeck to justify the outlay. On the other hand, he’s grown up in the Premier League so we wouldn’t have to wait for the season of bedding in.

If those were the main players we signed, and some cheaper ones for backup slots, I would be satisfied but not delighted, mainly because of my doubts about Sturridge.

Incidentally, how do we *know* who Wenger is targeting? We can only surely theorise about who he is *likely* to be targeting. Unless Arsenal actually start negotiations, I really find it hard to believe anything because as far as I see it, newspapers and websites can freely invent any transfer news they like. There’s no requirement of proof and these days, not even any quotes to back even the flimsiest rumours up!

Having said that, Wenger was directly asked about Leicester and he said something along the lines of “no” but then added it would be “disrespectful” to Leicester to talk about it while the season was ongoing. If there was zero interest I’d have thought he’d simply flat out say so. But then again he does like to tease…

Look, I can assure you Sami Nasri looked cool yesterday when he came on after the game 🙂

  182. Big Raddy says:

    Morning All,

I do not believe that Nasri looked cool.

chas must be sleeping off the effects of a fun-packed afternoon. Thinking of which …

chas can you write a View from The Balcony describing how the other half watch football.? Do they cheer? Do they sit outside or inside watching the TV? Can they smoke cigars? etc etc

  183. Eddie says:

never mind ‘can they smoke cigars’. I want to know if he met someone nice and did the suit do the trick

  184. Eddie says:

    silly DidIt

  185. Big Raddy says:

Amazing what you can buy with unlimited finance.! The salesmen must have laughed when Sami left the shop having dropped a couple of thou on his ensemble.

  186. Eddie says:

I know a girl who wears trousers like that, maybe even worse. I once offered to reapair them for her, but she declined the offer telling me the price – chocker!!

But that’s the thing with clothes. When I was still a church goer I would sit there guessing what people did for a living. Shabby trousers and t-shirt to church = well paid job. Unless they had a purple nose, then an alkie waiting for the communion wine. Chinos and shirt = probably a builder or unemployed. I had lots of fun, maybe I should go again

  187. Rasp says:

Morning all, not for me the ‘Nasri look’.

I think it shows a total lack of class and is disrespectful to the club and the supporters – but he is the epitome of a mercenary footballer after all.

  188. Eddie says:

careful Rasp – you know the girl I’m talking about 🙂 She is a very classy lady

  189. fatgingergooner says:

West Ham have sold 50,000 season tickets for a 60,000 stadium! Strikes me as a bit odd. I would’ve thought more revenue would come from visitors rather than season ticket holders.

Having said that, I imagine the atmosphere will be far better with 50,000 regular fans in the stadium. Maybe they will show Arsenal where they’ve gone wrong with the Emirates?

  190. chas says:

I’m doing a quick post. Might be 30 minutes

  191. chas says:

Some friends have West Ham season tickets for next year. I doubt they’ll go to more than half a dozen games.

  192. Rasp says:

Eddie, I have nothing against the split jeans look – it was just not appropriate for that particular occasion. Added to that you could see that fatboyfat didn’t want to be there and couldn’t give a hoot.

They didn’t deserve Pelegrini, what a charming and dignified man he is.

  193. mickydidit89 says:

50,000 season tickets at say £1000 is £50M banked now as opposed to the money from visitors who won’t go. I

    Very sound business practice

  194. mickydidit89 says:

    Thanks for the pic

Agree with Erik about the shop salesman “Ah, hello. Are you a squillionnaire footballer with regional Frenchman taste in clothing. Come over here to my special rail, I have just the thing.

  195. chas says:

I think the Hammers season tickets are £200 a pop.

  196. mickydidit89 says:

    What a rip off 🙂

  197. njstone9 says:

If I lived in London I’d pay that to see regular football. I’d get to see Arsenal once a year and for £150 extra and being objective, the entire range of the best football players in the country. And hopefully cheer West Ham taking points off all our rivals as well. Bargain for 200 quid. In fact for that price I could afford to make it a family event and bring my son along.

  198. Eddie says:

the taxpayer paid the £800 per ticket when they built the stadium

  199. njstone9 says:

Ah yeah that’s true and it definitely rankles, given how much our stadium cost us.

  200. mickydidit89 says:

Bloody hell, I thought Chas was taking the mick. They start at £289

  201. chas says:

  202. chas says:

Sorry for the lack of quality – I’m still a bit pissed.
