Alexis to score. Ozil MotM.

If I said I was totally confident I would be fibbing.

A year ago we were a goal-line header away from being 3 down after 20 minutes to Hull, and Villa are a better team. Much better.

Under normal circumstances having beaten a team 3-0 away and 5-0 at home I would be planning my trip to the Victory Parade but Sherwood has transformed Villa, more importantly he has transformed Benteke. In my opinion, Villa’s chances rest on the big fellow’s shoulders. Yes, they have other weapons but nothing our heroes cannot cope with if they play as per normal.

How to rate Sherwood? Tim “Nice But Dim” – or is he? I like the cut of the man’s jib; he is a very different manager to Mr Wenger who eschews passion and fire (and gilets) for logic and intelligence. Mr Wenger’s management style fits his team- we are artists who play with the brain first and foremost, whereas a Sherwood team plays from the heart and stomach. I prefer our style, don’t you?

Statistics all point to an Arsenal win – Villa have beaten us just 3 times in out last 34 games, Alexis has scored more goals this season than the AV team added together etc etc but stats don’t win games, players and luck do.

We have the players, we will have to see about the luck but I was up early cycling down to the forest to sacrifice a virgin (I had to import her from the Faroe Islands as there are none in Copenhagen), I have feng shuie’d my living room so the TV is correctly positioned (which meant blocking the doorway with the sofa), I have donned the lucky socks and pants, wearing the lucky shirt, will drink the lucky wine and Mrs Raddy will buy the lucky cake from the lucky cake shop. If we lose it will not be my fault ๐Ÿ€

As to tactics ….. mwaaah. I know very little and leave that up to the AA tactical wizards.

One thing I have yet to mention is just how excited I am that Arsenal are in their second FAC Final in two years and have the chance to win it two years running for the second time ย – the only club to do so, and this is our 19 FA Cup Final – another record.

17.30 kick off. Anyone know why?ย What is wrong with 15.00? Is it to sell more beer to the fans?

Referee: Jon Moss. This is the lemon who did nothing when Debuchy was pushed over leading to his shoulder injury and to his season being ruined. He also allowed Crouch to repeatedly elbow our CB’s in the face. Let us hope for a better performance this evening.

We have many AA’ers going to the game and I hope we can have some wonderful pre-match commentary from A & D along with some pics from other attendees. For the rest of us it will another afternoon hiding behind LB’s sofa.

I am hoping for an early goal to settle the nerves. I expect Alexis to score. I expect our midfield to weave their intricate magic and set up chances for our forwards. I expect Ozil to be voted MotM.

And in the words of one of England’s greatest heroes “Arsenal expects that every man to do his duty”

    Superb, BR.
I hope we match Villa today for heart and guts and it’s our superior wit and intelligence which eventually wins the day.

    I am 50% confident.
In a one-off cup tie I can’t see the point in going any higher.

As you say, BR, we must have some of the luck on our side – you don’t win cups without it.

  2. Gรถรถner In Exile says:

While you are all enjoying cup final build up I’m driving. What’s the weather like in Cornwall?

    “Sammy’s Dad” ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Raddy, you have really set things up nicely these last few days. Much appreciated.

I’ll go with Chas’ 50% and predict the score will be 3-1 ๐Ÿ™‚

Ha, I didn’t see the caption for the photo.

  10. kelsey says:

    Thanks Raddy

Let’s for once do a Walker Brothers ๐Ÿ™‚

Their full backs need to be harrassed and are their main weak link in defence so Theo might start.

  11. kelsey says:

I stand to be corrected but the last time we won a Cup Final without hiding behind the sofa was when we beat Newcastle and Anelka scored the winning goal or was it both goals.

  12. arnie says:

How about Rambo coming off the bench to score the winning goal on 119 mins? ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Rasp says:

Excellent Raddy, this has all the makings of a classic cup final since the teams and the managers are polar opposites. My stockings are half way down on this one. For sure Villa have the style and player(s) to be our nemesis, as chas says, we must play with our heads …. and take our chances when they come so the choice of who plays up front could be pivotal.

BTW, I make you a special cup final PM banner and you forget to put it up ๐Ÿ˜†

  14. arnie says:

The player to fear is Tim (but Dim)! The ignorable others are only worth half a mention, including Benteke! ๐Ÿ˜›

    Good Morning, BR,

Lovely Post – the big day is here, at last. ๐Ÿ™‚

What a day for sport :-

5:30 pm ARSENALl v Villa; Ummm

I will be exhausted – just watching on TV – No alcohol tho’ ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    Yee Gods – I have become a Briton!! ๐Ÿ˜€

  16. arnie says:

Redders. You have staked your claims to your roots! ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. arnie says:

    Nice one.

  18. RA says:

    arnie,

Like you, I have lived and worked in a number of countries — in my case it has been, from time to time, Europe, Middle East, Australasia and of course the US – and now, the number of years I have lived in the UK are about to exceed the years I lived in the US.

Slightly weird. I do not belong anywhere!! ๐Ÿ˜€

But Arsenal are my Centre of Being!

  19. LB says:

Wow, two mentions in two days. Great read BR thank you.

I know this got a lot of talk yesterday but here is my tupence worth. I am with Norfolk.

  20. ‘morning all,

Aaah! The magic of the Cup. So sad that the days of the cheap Cup Final suit are over. No more creased beige terylene with wide lapels and flared trousers. What a shame.

Redders, home is where your football club is. You belong with Arsenal…despite your colonial roots. ๐Ÿ˜€

I want a good game of football, no refering cock-ups and may the best team win…. and that’s Arsenal of course. ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh! Thanks BR, a pre-match to match the best.

  21. The Cockie Monster says:

    Thanks Biggy !.

It`s my birthday today and unfortunately all the well wishers and opening of cards to find hundreds of pounds will not make it a happy day unless we win the FA Cup !โ€ฆโ€ฆ……. this could be my best or worst birthday ever and it`s all down to The Arsenal !.

##BREAKING NEWS##โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.. so far it`s a shit birthday as no bastard has put any money in the cards !.

  22. Redders, one bit of sporting entertainment you missed f4rom your list, The French Open where Andy murray is at this moment on court against some Greek/Aussie called Kirgios.

Current score murray 2 – 3 down in the first set.

  23. Fear not Cockie, here’s a fiver, Happy Birthday.

  24. Gรถรถner In Exile says:

As well as missing build up and Ant n Duck show I’m also missing a full days FA cup programming on BBC, well played them for giving the competition due respect.

  25. Gรถรถner In Exile says:

Fine PM Raddy, my worries from them Benteke, Grealish and Cleverly.

  26. That’s all very well GiE, but where’s Kent Walton and the wrestling from Wembley Town Hall? Mick McManus and Steve Logan versus The Royal Brothers. ๐Ÿ˜€

  27. Sav from Australia says:

    Nice pre-match Raddy.

  28. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

Cornwall, why didnt you say? I would have sent you that rubber doll you wanted. You know, the one that looks like a deflated Rhianna hahaha. Happy Birthday mate.

Nice Raddy. I have a ticket in the neutral section. If we are losing you should be able to spot me, I will be facing the wrong way. This habit normally iritates the f*uck out of the person behind me, but I put them in there place with “Imagine how I feel, your a right ugly bastard” If its a fit bird, then I face the wrong way even if were winning. Last time I did that her father took offence and punched me in the nose but she was so fit I kept staring. By the time the game was over I looked like Louis Van Galls flatter brother

Theo and Jack on the bench. You cant start players who have not completed 90 minutes for ages in a cup final, they will be dead on there feet after half an hour.

A tough and close game awaits. Thats why I predict 5-0 to the Arsenal

  29. VCC says:

Here’s another fiver Cockieโ€ฆ..don’t spend it all at once. Come on you Gunners.

  30. arnie says:

one quid, Cockie. I usually live in Botland, you know! ๐Ÿ˜›

have a nice one. no doubt about the winner. I have even raised by confidence level to 35% in celebration that you are one year wiser. ๐Ÿ˜›

  31. arnie says:

    good fun, Redders. ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. Ajinkya says:

What a well written article..!! Like my fellow gunners, I have been trying to search every Arsenal material that I can get hold of over the past week to try and make sense of our team selection for the big day and how things will pan out in general. Let me tell you, after reading your blog, I am feeling less of a nervous wreck and to be honest 56% confident as well:)

Fantastic write-up, Raddy, as always! Love the work on the header, too!

Big day for all of us – not going to the game myself. We only got 1 ticket out of the 2 I went for and would rather spend the time watching it family (particularly the kids)…but there’s a nagging regret about that decision!!

Hope you all have a great day, sing up if you’re there – it’s ours if we want it enough!

    I…am 60% confident.

  37. The Cockie Monster says:

Thanks for the contributions, Guys !……shall I wait in for the late post to collect your cheques ?.

Dont bother Stretch !……..my bedrooms still like a bomb site after Al-Qaeda blow up doll you sent me last time !.

I`ll be in Plymouth for the game…….it has the nearest DFS store where Gooners of a nervous disposition will meet to hide with friends behind a fantastically discounted amount of Sofas !.

  40. Eddie says:

Great pre-match Raddy, big thank you!
Agree about Ted Sherwood, the bugger turned out to be a very decent manager, damn him. And as for them playing with their hearts and us with brains….cough cough cough…what brains?

I don’t want to spoil everybody’s fan so I’m going out. Bad, bad feeling about this game that I cannot shake off. Soz for being a doomer

  43. Wemberley Wemberley we’re the famous Arsenal and we’re going to Wemberley

Only I’m going to the Emirates ……….. Still watching with 40,000 Gooners though ๐Ÿ™‚

Great pre-match Raddy, love the FA cup, love football, love The Arsenal. Looking forward to the game big time.

Happy Birthday Mr Cockie Monster, could be a good omen ๐Ÿ˜‰

  44. Beautiful banner Rasp, well done xxx

  46. Sorry Cockie, there’s no cheque in the post, it was cash and I gave it to Micky as he was taking the hat round for you. He’d collected quite a bit so you should be really happy when you next meet him. ๐Ÿ˜€

Didn’t we play cup games in old gold and black, back in the day?

  47. It’s all going well on the sporting front, Murray won in straight sets, England off to a goodish start 54 for none at lunch. Bath v Saracens next and then the BIG one.

    C’mon the Rip-Roaring Gunners!!

  48. RA says:

    Hi Norfolkian, ๐Ÿ™‚

You have clearly, by now, been for your windy walk, had a whole half pint, chatted up the bar maid, and you are feeling good.

The fullsize, naked cardboard cutout of a winsome maid, with the strategically placed hole, made to the appropriate size, that you sent to Cockie for his birthday was a bit cruel.

When he saw it, Terry said that he did not know why Cockie would put his cigarette just there — his face when he heard Terry’s comment was a sad sight apparently.

    Shameful, NG. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Birthday, Glic, and don’t worry – size isn’t everything. ๐Ÿ™‚

  49. kelsey says:

Happy Birthday GLIC and RA speak for yourself ๐Ÿ˜‰

  50. RA says:

Sssh, Kelsey, I am trying to make Glister feel better. ๐Ÿ˜€

  51. arnie says:

  52. The Cockie Monster says:

Thanks Redders and it is true ……….size isn`t everything !……..it`s all about whether the sperm are good swimmers and my little budgie smugglers is like a hotel full of little Johnny Weissmuller`s !.

In fact, this is the sound that emits from my budgie smugglers on special occasions !. hahaha

  53. Better nervous than “so sad” eh Arnie ? ๐Ÿ˜Š

  59. Cheers Redders.

The shenanigans at FIFA yesterday were enough to wind up and sadden anyone to be fair Arnie.

  60. GoonerB says:

Thanks raddy. Not too sure about the keeper. I am not a fan of giving a cup final place to a player you know is leaving if the alternative is as good and they are staying. Didnt agree with fabianski last year and if the rumours of monreal leaving are true i would prefer gibbs to get the nod. Up front it is walcott for me, but probably not for wenger. Le coq should start and Sanchez has to start at attacking left so the toughest decision imo is to choose 3 from 5 out of ozil, santi, rambo aoc (if fit) and jack. I think both ozil and santi will start so it is 1 from 3 likely. That is where it gets tough because it is likely for the attacking right role. I agree raddy how do you drop rambo? Then again i think aoc and jack are slightly more suited to an attacking right side position even though all 3 could be considered as better centrally. Tough calls to make.

  61. wally says:

It was over a month ago when I agreed to play in this bloody golf tournament. Didn’t know it conflicted with the final. So I’ve put it on PVR and will watch it tonite.
Pretty confident. Just don’t let those fbs get caught too far forward and everything should be allrighty right!

  62. custard says:

    100% Arsenal win!

  63. kelsey says:

Monreal leaving, Gooner B. I would say he is our most improved player this season based on ability.

The media are split as to who will be in goal. If it’s the Pole and he makes a ricket all hell will break loose if it’s Ospina and he makes a ricket not much would be said.Hard to call but I think the bridges are burnt between Szsney and AW.

Walcott should start and if Giroud is on the bench and a goal is needed would you trust him to get it ? Me, no. Rosicky would have more chance.

  64. Eddie says:

    Happy birthday Mr Glic ๐Ÿ™‚

Raddy – my little pugglet ate some rat poison today. I had to rush him to the vet, stomach pumped, drip, injections, blood tests and all other money spinning procedures. I don’t want this to become a lucky omen and try to poison the bugger before every big game

  65. kelsey says:

Szsney and Walcott start.Jack on the bench.

  66. Big Raddy says:

Oh Dear. LB’s bike is lost.

    Theo starting as is Szczesny

  67. kelsey says:

Arsenal: Szczesny, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis, Walcott

  68. Big Raddy says:

    Eddie ๐Ÿ˜€

  69. kelsey says:

I just said that Raddy ๐Ÿ™‚

  70. Big Raddy says:

Ramsey’s hair is a disaster. Must have a Welsh hairdresser

  71. Rasp says:

At the Emirates now with arnie and co, is that correct, is he starting with Sz and Theo?

  72. arnie says:

In the Ems now, with Peaches Rasp and Mrs. Where are Ant n Duck? COYG. ๐Ÿ™‚

  73. LB says:

    Yes Sz and Theo start.

  74. LB says:

    I loved that bike……

  75. Rasp says:

  84. Big Raddy says:

    Get in……..

    Theoooooo

  85. Rasp says:

    Coquelin has been outstanding. Theeeeoooooooooo

  86. fatgingergooner says:

Well you got the ร–zil MOTM bit right so far! He’s absolutely running this game. Some of his touches and passes have been sublime. Great to see him going past players too.

Should be 4-0 up which is a bit worrying but play like that 2nd half and we will be fine. Just need to be wary of Villa coming at us in the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half.

Excellent strike by Theo and his pace is really worrying them.

Ramsey has also been good, as has Coquelin.

  87. Big Raddy says:

We have been good everywhere. Both full backs doing well, etc etc

Like FGG I worry that with so much possession we are only one up. Be great if we can score early in the second half.

  88. Big Raddy says:

How the hell can JW’s goal not be in the best MotM gaols? Rooney’s was just luck – he shinned it

  89. fatgingergooner says:

    There you go BR!

    Another scuffer from Sanchez!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  90. RA says:

I told you Sanchez was useless!! ๐Ÿ™‚ 2:0

  92. Big Raddy says:

    FGG. Believe Uncle Raddy ๐Ÿ˜€

  93. fatgingergooner says:

Stunning so far. Hope it continues.

  94. Rasp says:

Why are we playing for a 3rd, we should be battening down the hatches?

  95. fatgingergooner says:

If anyone still needs convincing about ร–zil after the first 58 minutes of this game then there is no helping them!

    He’s been unbelievable.

  96. fatgingergooner says:

    Coquelin has been outstanding too.

  97. Eddie says:

so much for my gut feelings, fooking useless me

A brilliant performance and one we can be proud of.

    I love The Arsenal

  102. RA says:

    What an average performance – only 4 : 0 ๐Ÿ˜€

  103. RA says:

  104. Big Raddy says:

Alexis was 27m less than Di Maria ๐Ÿ™‚

  105. Jeremy says:

    Yes! Well done lads

  106. Aaron says:

    That was sick!
Passing, movement, team D, glorious goals!
Arsene made all the right calls-period.
    Just total ownership.
Szcz proved me right, got the early crosses, punched them clear of the box, looked calm and steady with a solid back 4 and team D.
Ozil and Santi passed them to death, Coq made the stops and quite a few slick passes. Theo converted, Bel and Ram ran their brains out, and just plain oleโ€™ Sanchez blasted that ball through the roof!
Thinking about that happy song all dayโ€ฆ.
    Way to go Gunners

  107. kelsey says:

That was a truly magnificent display by the whole team, and it would be unfair to single anyone out.I am really proud of the team and we were a joy to watch, well actually I could watch Sanchez’s goal over and over again. ๐Ÿ™‚
    .
Men against boys is quite apt

  108. Adrian says:

Fantastic win. Absolutely brilliant performance today!

  109. kelsey says:

When was the last time a final was won by 4 goals ?

And Ollie blonde highlights don’t suit you.

  110. I hope it never has been before kelsey and we’ve set a new record ๐Ÿ™‚

What a game, bloody loved it ๐Ÿ™‚

  111. Rasp says:

I agree, 11 MOTMs, total team performance and AW got everything right. There was me worrying about us being too adventurous at 2 nil up ๐Ÿ˜€

  112. Kelsey – I’m really pleased you enjoyed it xx

  113. Big Raddy says:

They did it for Horatio – Every man did his duty ๐Ÿ˜€

I think that was our best performance for many a year (in a big game)

  114. Big Raddy says:

Strange how I didn’t mind Arteta doing a John Terry and going up in the full kit.

  115. Well, well, well.

So the good guys get in more silverware and in a much more relaxed manner than last year.

    Excellent match tactics executed perfectly.

Well done lads and well done Wenger.

So where and when do we meet up for the parade tomorrow ?

    I am in for that ! !!

  116. Eddie says:

Raddy re Arteta ๐Ÿ™‚ Me too, I thought it was his place to accept the trophy ๐Ÿ™‚ Mind you, Arteta is a nice guy, whereas JT aint

  117. Big Raddy says:

    No Ant

Not a proper Cup Final without them

Oh Bolleaux, of course it is ๐Ÿ˜€

  118. kelsey says:

The Londoners sealed their biggest winning margin in a final of the world’s oldest knockout competition.:) aha

  119. kelsey says:

    Was Rosicky and Welbeck there.

The media don’t stop. Not even 5 minutes after lifting the Cup they are asking is that good enough, can Arsenal really challenge Chelsea.

Villa just didn’t turn up their fans are saying, or weren’t allowed to is nearer the mark.

  120. LB says:

Doesn’t it feel great to be an Arsenal supporter?

It was the perfect performance from eleven players all playing at the top of their game. No one individual shone brighter than any other, every one of them deserved the accolade of man of the match. I feel very proud in my very small way to be part of such a great club.

The selection was predictable; that’s to say, that Wenger picked the right side for the job in hand. Walcott’s greater mobility made him the right choice to start ahead of Giroud.

Perhaps the only slight surprise was Sczcesny ahead of Ospina but the pole does have a greater reach and was able to pick off the high balls sent in for Benteke with greater ease than Ospina might have and if you think about it that was Villa’s only threat, once that was removed they really had nothing else.

The substitutions fascinated me more than usual, not one of them was tactical; well, not tactical in the sense that any single one would improve our performance, that would have been nigh on impossible as that was arguably the best performance of the season. No, the substitutions were designed to give each one of Wilshere, Giroud and Oxlade-Chamberlain the sense of being part of this great day and each one rightly deserved it for their contribution to this season’s collective FA Cup success.

Did you notice at the end of the game that the players who were interviewed: Walcott, Cazorla, Meresacker and Ramsey all talked about winning the league next season. This doesn’t happen by accident, this is clearly the party line put to them prior to the game by Arsenal’s PR team. I found this very interesting.

As for the details, you all saw every minute of the game, the team was great the goals were great and the fans were great.

I am going to carry on laying here basking in the after glow.

Oh, and I want my bike back.

  121. Rhyle Adcock says:

    That went well, didn’t it?!

Watched with family – my eldest boy was still singing She Wore when he went to bed. Days like these are what it’s all about..!

    Enjoy your celebrations, Gooners!

  122. We won The Cup, We won The Cup, Ee-aye-adio we won the Cup!!

    What a performance.

    What a show.

    What a team.

    That’s Arsenal!!

We won The Cup, We won The Cup, Ee-aye-adio we won the Cup!!

  123. Gรถรถner In Exile says:

    Bastards the lot of you!!

I had a shit journey to Cornwall (M4 closed), arrived as Sanchez scored second, missed third and fourth as we were trying to get in touch with agent to tell them they better find us another property pronto (which they are doing)….who allows a family with a toddler to book a cottage with a bedroom that opens half way down the stairs and to which you can’t fix stair gate too, and in the same bedroom a window that can’t be locked at climbable height that leads to the flat roof above a 7ft drop to a patio….in fact the list was endless.

  124. fatgingergooner says:

Absolutely buzzing about the performance today. Yes, it’s great to win the FA Cup, but it’s even better when you do it playing like that! The big boys really stepped up to the plate and grasped the game by the scruff of the neck.

If last year was a nail biter, then this was like a 90 minute full body massage!

The result was never in doubt and hats off to the manager for making the right choices, and hats off to the players for justifying their selection.

People accuse some of our lads of going missing in the big games, but today we probably saw our most complete performance of the season at the time it mattered most.

    same again next year!? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  125. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

Great day, great performance, and great bird sitting a row down to my right. Only stared at her when villa had the ball so didnt see to much really.

The players were all fantastic. Why wouldnt they be? Arsene is piecing together a team after enduring almost a decade when he had to sell his best players and our rivals had ridiculous money to spend.

We are getting closer to the top, no doubt about that. We will win the title next year.

In my mind Arsene has proved himself every day he has been in the job. He was magnificent when winning titles, fantastic when despite financial hurdles was securing champions league qualification, and now he is building another brilliant team

Arsene is, and will, have the last laugh on all his doubters

The Ghosts of the Thirties are Stirring

  126. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening, Nice one Raddy.
A few surprises from the manager, In Walcott Out Giroud, In
Monreal out Gibbs, In Czezesney out Ospina . Reasons for those changes, was it tactical, or was it just to stop the moaning.

Theo who scored a hat trick in the last game, was really a no brainer He showed form he scored goals and he also made Aston villa’s defence back away from a high line.

Theo of course was the reason that Villa couldn’t get going, He was caught offside a few times playing off their last man, and them knowing his pace, only held them back and they dare not give him a yard. Giroud would have allowed them forward. Shrewed move by Arsene.

As for Gibbs and Monreal, Gibbs injured his shoulder in the last game so a natural change there.

The strange one was the goal keepers, everybody picked Ospina to be Wengers choice, He has done very well, but he is short in height. And you know what Wenger feels about a player who is short.:) I believe Wenger wanted to combat the threat of Benteki’s dominance in the air, he of course had Mertsacker’s height but Mert’s is usually a bit slow, and for high crosses Czez looked the obvious choice.

Where the Manager usually makes changes around the sixty minute mark, he left it later, i felt he wanted a bigger lead so if he made a tactical mistake a cushion would be in place so we would still win,

Arsenal to a man. played exceptionally well, Theo and Alexis were electric, Bellerin and Monreal played their role as wingbacks superbly for the whole game Merts and Kos was solid, often doubling up to stiffle the threat of Benteke, he didn’t get a chance. Czez after a public row with his Father complemented the defence but did rush out a few times.

Santi Cazorla was voted MOTM played superb, ran the show. Mesut Ozil has often been accused of not doing enough but not today he was outstanding Coquelen again showed the strength we have needed in front of the back four, his workrate and determination again has shown why he has a great future. Aaron Ramsey worked very hard he pressed when he could and also worked back as well he is improving with every game.

Alexis Sanchez brought from Barcelona for ยฃ35 million what were they thinking, has proved in his goalscoring and his workrate that he was worth every penny, utterly brilliant, in fact they all was.

Goal scorers were Theo Walcott a fine opportunist left foot volley that opened the scoring. Per Merts shoulders a cross to make it two. Alexis Sanchez scored number three with an exquisite outside the box swerving shot, which will go down as one of the finest goals ever to be scored in an Arsenal cup final, and to round up the evenings play Substitute Oliver Giroud with a magnificent side foot flick past a flailing keeper.

Arsene Wenger got the tactics right, he also got the players right, but most importantly he sent the supporters into ecstasy, and sent them home happy.

Arsenal turned up to day, from the start they were suburb, by the end of ninty they had been magnificent, The engraver etched the name of Arsenal for the twelfth time on the sought after FA cup, no other team have ever been on more, but now it sits at The Emirates for the second year running. A fine day to be a GOONER

  127. The Cockie Monster says:

Ladies and Gentlemen !……..It gives me great pride and pleasure to introduce you to the most successful team ever in FA Cup history ……………………..The Arsenal !.

  128. The Cockie Monster says:

Oh and Chelsea !…………that`s how not to park a bus !.

Stunning lesson in the artistry of football.

  129. Jeremy says:

Absolutely delighted with the win and so proud of the lads today but I do want to give respect to Villa who never tried to make up for the difference in skill by resorting to thuggery. The game felt like two teams who wanted to play the game in the right spirit. Also I think it’s fair to point out that the referee called fouls as fouls and never encouraged foul play which is all you can ask of a referee. Fair play to Villa and Moss.

  130. fatgingergooner says:

    ร–zil v Villa

  131. fatgingergooner says:

We’ve been asking for some pace up front for a while. Is it time to give Theo a chance? He was excellent today, but more importantly he makes ร–zil’s job so much easier. Threading passes is simple when you have runners.

Obviously there will be many games when Giroud is a better option, but surely Walcott deserves the chance to prove he can be a ST when pace and movement are needed.

Or do we just stick with Welbeck as the 2nd option?

  132. LB says:

I think the fact that there is debate that both Walcott and Giroud suit different types of games shows that there is room for an upgrade; someone who can impress in either situation, on paper it should be Welbeck but he is not ready yet; he might be in a couple of season’s time but he is not the striker who is going to win us the EPL yet.

  133. LB says:

Great comment at 11.57 Steve, one of your best if I may say.

  134. mickydidit89 says:

WHAT a great day, and superb performance.

    Very good morning all.

  135. mickydidit89 says:

    Quick question
Do Club Level ST Holders get cup final ticket priority over regular ST holders irrespective of away points?

  136. LB says:

I have heard that is true but I am not 100%

  137. mickydidit89 says:

    Love this guy (commentator)

  138. Big Raddy says:

    Morning All,

Yesterday was tip top all round.

Some great comments last night. Perhaps we could use Steve’s as today’s post unless someone would like to write something

  139. mickydidit89 says:

    Cheers LB

Must say to enjoying yesterday (chums house. All Gunners) much much more than being at Wembley for the game itself last year, but at the away end

It’s very nice screaming like a banshee every time Arsenal score

And to do it four times ๐Ÿ™‚

  140. mickydidit89 says:

    Big

Beginning of season we had a bet. Me: Ollie would leave before start of next season.

I had heard a rumour he was miserable, but I really really hope I’m sending you a fish this summer. In fact, I’d happily send a crate of the slippery fellows right now to be wrong.

To watch those precision “mesmetrons” (Arse Gent) slide ruling through the Villa lines……oh, what joy

  141. mickydidit89 says:

    Ok, final comment.

Shall we all promise right here, right now, to never mention “Full Kit Mikel” ever again ๐Ÿ™„

  142. mickydidit89 says:

Sorry, sounded wrong. Never mention The Incident, rather than The Footballer

  143. Big Raddy says:

I thought the bet was whether Ozil was staying next season.

Was it that Ollie will stay?

    The Incident is forgotten

  144. mickydidit89 says:

    Ooops

Big, yes I typed Ollie, should have been Mesut. Durrr

Ok, now back to well deserved boiled eggs and marmite soldiers (double portions today) ๐Ÿ™‚

  145. chas mobile says:

Wasn’t the bet about whether Ozil left in January?

  146. mickydidit89 says:

Oh god, really off, but Chas “I think you need to moisturize. Ant’s skin always looks so much fresher”

I think I can speak man to man like this to a chap who makes things out of ribbons ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope The Vines had a great day

  147. Big Raddy says:

Mmm that sounds good. I think we have some marmite.

chas/Ant. Lovely pics. Did you have a decent view and was there a fit female in your row?

  148. chas mobile says:

Had a great view, BR, and a magnificent day.
No tasty women alas, though the tasty goals made up for it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  149. Eddie says:

I am here to spoil your party

I watched the game again and will probably watch it a few more times, I loved it, loved it, loved it

BUT we still don’t know how to shift a bus. Any team including Villa that allows us to play gets punished, we are better than any other team in EPL (Phil Neville and Danny Murphy said so after the game last night).

Park a bus in front of their goalie and we become impotent. Yes, it happens to all other teams, but some teams can break through the barricade – I am thinking Barca. No point trying to stop them from playing.

Otherwise Eddie is very happy and PROUD as if I scored a couple of those goals myself ๐Ÿ™‚

  150. Big Raddy says:

Eddie. Have a day off from ANY negativity. You are unlikely ever to see a more comprehensive victory in a Cup Final by any team than AFC yesterday.

Even our “realist” Kelsey is buoyant

    Just enjoy it

  151. Eddie says:

    even Kelsey ๐Ÿ™‚

I am afraid I am as happy as I can get. See, LB still wants his bike back and I still want all the fooking buses shifted. Some people are never completely happy ๐Ÿ™‚

    Wenger out

  152. mickydidit89 says:

    Raddy
Maybe Eddie has had a visit from the Doomer of all Doomers, Mr Bunnyman himself, aka Captain “Let’s sit back and defend” Rasp ๐Ÿ™‚

  153. mickydidit89 says:

ps hope you found the marmite ๐Ÿ™‚

  154. Eddie says:

oh pee off the lot of you! I am happy in my own way, but something inside me wishes that every game we play was like that

My Santi was unplayable, gosh a love small Spanish midfielders

  155. mickydidit89 says:

Loved Kos standing, shirt over head, appealing for a penalty when the ball was already in the back of the net ๐Ÿ™‚

  156. Ant says:

    ๐Ÿ˜‚Micky

  157. Motning all, about to leave home for the parade.

Hope to get a better view than last year.

Great to be a gooner today !

  158. kelsey says:

    Morning

Unless he is the greatest actor I have ever seen in a football shirt, Theo really looked like he enjoyed every moment he was on the pitch and seemed to enjoy all the other goals as much as his own.I have never seen him so bouyant.

Charity Shield will be interesting ๐Ÿ™‚

We want Cech and also are looking at Schmeichal. I don’t get all this “Ospina is too small”.AW knew what he was buying, he hasn’t suddenly shrunk in our climate, has he.

  159. kelsey says:

By the way I keep seeing this old navy merc in our street with the number plate PM (something). I saw it yesterday and who was it ? It was Pete Murray who used to sit a row in front of me in the West Stand. He is only 89 so there is hope for me after all ๐Ÿ™‚

  160. Morning Happy Gooners

I’ve taken Steve’s comment off to use as a post for today. Raddy are you around to do some editing as I have to go out and I’m not sure I can do it justice. It’s in drafts ……… can you let me know on here please.

  161. kelsey says:

12-0 isn’t bad against one PL team in three games ๐Ÿ™‚

I wonder in Randy and Stan had words after the game.

  162. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
Still feeling elated, but feel i must disagree with our Eddie, She talks very sensibly, but i feel that the parked bus situation was still in place yesterday only our players worked down the flanks, players made the runs to stretch the Villa defence, Alexis’s fine goal was a prime example, Monreal made the run down the flank and pulled a wheel off of the bus and allowed one of the finest shots i have ever seen fly in. Alex the Ox also worked his magic along the flank streatched the bus again and set a superb side foot tap in for the good looking Frenchman.. Theo’s magnificent left foot volley also started from wide a fine cross which had drawn a bus wheel also stretched the parked bus, the flanks are where the parked bus has flaws, if you use the flanks as we did it gives you spaces and with players willing to get in those spaces enable the parked bus to go for a service.

  163. arnie says:

Can’t stay for the parade but on our way to soak in the environment a little bit. No chance to exchange phone number

  164. Ok done it ……………..

  165. We have a New Post ……………

no time for pics, have to add later
