EPL – Episode 10 – AFC hosts Liverpool

While many pundits and fans may see us as clear favourites for this game based on both teams’ current form, I would be more cautious for a few reasons:

  1. Liverpool is an injured animal and they will want to prove a point;
  2. Liverpool’s quality is still there with Alisson, TAA, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Salah, Firmino, Diaz and D. Nunez is a great CF so…
  3. We have failed to capitalize on our dominance vs Utd and got punished for it;
  4. We still concede quite some big chances
  5. We have often played poorly in games that mattered in the league under Arteta…

so there you go, while our form is clearly better than Liverpool’s, we need to put things into perspective and remind ourselves to keep calm, focused, committed and smart throughout this match. Win this game and LFC will have a hard time to catch up with us in the Top 4 race, Lose this game and they are edging closer to us along with other teams that won yesterday like City and Spurs…

No slip up today and a win is required but it will not be easy…not at all. Let us play 11 vs 11, a red card would doom us

Ramsdale – White, Saliba, Gabs, Zinchenko – Partey, Xhaka – Saka, Ode, Martinelli – Jesus

Players to watch: Robertson, Firmino, Diaz, Salah, TAA, Van Dijk

Players to target: TAA, Upamecano or Matip, Henderson

It will be important for Partey to closely monitor Firmino’s movement. Also Saka and Martinelli will need to watch LFC’s full-backs and White will not have it easy with Diaz and same for Zinchenko with Salah. Win the midfield battle and we will be ok. Big game for Partey, Xhaka, Ode today.

Predicted score: 2-2 with goals from Saka and Jesus for us and Firmino and Diaz for them

Wanted score: 2-1

Djoko with title 90…When he enters a tournament, he does not lose often…

  2. RC78 says:

Sorry I meant Konate, not Upamecano who plays for Bayern. Sorry about that.

Also Thiago will need to be controlled.

  3. RC78 says:

Laurent Blanc to replace Bosz at Lyon.

Lopes – Gusto, Lukeba, Silva, Tagliafico – Aouar, Mendes, Tolisso – Tete, Dembele, Ekambi

I think Laca will lose his spot in the starting line-up…Blanc always play 4231 or 433, with two fast wingers and a goal poacher in front that can also do runs behind defenses…

  4. fred1266 says:

Haha upamecano we not in champions league so we don’t need to worry about him

  5. Aaron says:

Got a fantastic early goal, pool crept back in it, then BAM, the team hits them on the counter with a smashing goal.

Let’s get control of the ball a bit, win a few more 50-50’s, and see what our sqaud can do.

Would be great to see the score hold as predicted.
    Let’s go!

  6. Aaron says:

    Check that, let’s get another…

  7. Aaron says:

Saka with a ice cold penalty!

  8. LB says:

    What an effing great gamr

  9. LB says:

I am so fucking sick to death trying for 20 minutes to post a comment

  10. RC78 says:

Tomy was quite amazing today so was Gabi and of course Saka…

Ramsdale – Gabs – Ode (after 30 mins) were more subdued than the rest of the team…

  11. RC78 says:

What a win! With Saka and Martinelli on the wings, Jesus up front and Saliba at the back, what a talented team we have…

  12. RC78 says:

    Ramdale – 6
    White – 7
    Saliba – 6
    Gabs – 5
    Tomy – 7
    Partey – 6
    Xhaka – 6
    Saka – 8
    Ode – 6
    Gabi – 9
    Jesus – 7.5

  13. VP says:

LB, I agree, I’ve given up many time in trying to post a comment.

    BRILLIANT RESULT COYG!

  14. 1979Gunner says:

    Great result and impressive performance.

Barring a dead end of season win a couple of years ago when Liverpool were already crowned champions, that’s our 1st win over them in 5 years.

    Enjoy and move on.
    😊🔴⚪

  15. LB says:

RC, how do you pronounce Saliba? With t tee sound in the middle or like the letter i in fib?

  16. RC78 says:

the I in French is like the ee in English like in Tee except your “ee” should be slightly shorter in length so it would be Saleeba but your ee sound is slightly shorter when pronounced…

  17. LB says:

I thought that was the case RC, couldn’t work out why the Brit commentators were pronouncing it differently. I should have known better really.

  18. RockyLives says:

Happy Invincibles Day to AA-ers everywhere.

  19. LB says:

    A Xhaka masterclass tonight.

  20. fred1266 says:

    Leno outdoing Emi

  21. TotalArsenal says:

    Hey AAers,

I hope you can sort out the technical issues and keep this fabulous webblog going. It would be a real shame if it all came to an end during this fabulous season.

    Best wishes,

    Total

  22. LB says:

I think the Liverpool win is a good game to end it all on. It was fun.

  23. RC78 says:

Heya everyone…sorry the workload has been tremendous here and did not get a chance to put a post up in ages. Hope you are all well. If some of you have a chance to write up a post, please do and I will check everyday and then copy and paste it as a new post!

    COYG!

Our subs did not do great yesterday and our squad may be too thin to sustain a top 4 bid. I really think we need to add 2-3 players to our squad as early as January.

  24. fred1266 says:

I think Eddie has been really disappointing in the league, expected more from him
