The press is indicating that Newcastle is interested in purchasing some of players currently playing in the EPL, including at AFC:
- Apparently, they want some Man Utd players like Lingaard and Van Den Beek
- Apparently, they are also interested in AMN, Holding and Chambers
So the question is to see whether we should actually consider serious purchase offers from Newcastle…if they are willing to invest in some of our lesser used players…
What is your take on:
- Chambers
- Holding
- Mari
- Kolasinac
- Pepe
- El Neny
- …
Shall we consider an offer from Newcastle for them in January?
Once we getting back our money for pepe he’ll yea
But if Newcastle has any ambition can’t really see them going for secondary players
If they offer anything over £25m for Pepe we should bite their hand off.
I think with Howe, they want to build a mid-table team for now with strong foundations that will see them bring some exciting young and home-grown players. For that, they need players that know the EPL and are good but not necessarily stars. I think that summer 2023 will be the big spend…until then, top 8 will be ok as long as they get the fans back to their side…
Of course.
25 pete oh my
Tbh Fred I would take £20 million…
What about Chambers and Holding? What is your take on them?
Thanks RC, interesting question. IMHO
Chambers, Kola, Mari even El Neny can go if there is a good price.
For Pepe I want to see him flourish in red, but sadly I don’t see this coming. So and the end if the day I would accept an offer around 30m£.
But I wont’t let AMN go at any price. He is good and getting better and better. Partey is as much injury prone as often Xhaka is brainfarting so we need AMN. And don’t forget he is also coming from Hale End, through and through Arsenal.
Ohh, as for Holding… I really don’t know. …. Gabriel/White is unbeatable at the moment but sooner or later we will need backup for them. If Saliba is really coming then I would let Holding go but otherwise I would hold him for a while. 🙂
It all depends on the price offered I guess, I’ve seen £5m quoted for Chambers but is that enough? Not for me. I’d extend his contract by another year and try to sell him in the summer.
A few of our players recently have already looked as if they’re halfway out the door before signing new deals, it’s why I haven’t given up on Eddie re-signing or even Lacazette if he agrees a short term deal?
Reiss Nelson signed at the end of his contract as did Saka, Balogun and Taylor Hart whilst Niles has had a total change of heart.
Good question RC
I start from the perspective of which players (from your list) I feel we ought to keep.
We need two back-up CBs, one lefty and one righty. Therefore Mari is a “keep” as back-up to Gabriel and the other spot is a toss-up between Chambers and Holding. Personally I’d keep Chambo because he’s more versatile (and is certainly worth MUCH more than £5m). Holding would be a good acquisition for Newcastle – a solid, seasoned defender.
Kola – obviously sell for whatever we can get. I like the lad but he’s not good enough and we have good cover at LB.
Pepe – it’s not working out for him at the Arsenal. Again, I like him but he has never recovered from that ridiculous price tag. If Toon offered anything above £20m I’d bite their hand off.
Elneny – take anything we can get for him. He has played well for us at times but is no more than a fringe squad player and I would rather we invested in AMN instead.
How’s Willock doing up there this season?
Mari (Pablo Marie as Sky seem to refer to him) despite a few glimmers of hope is clearly a cart horse. He has the turning circle of an oil tanker and is one of the slowest professional players I have ever seen.
Another of those mysterious loan signings when Don Raul was pulling the strings.
Newcastle can have him for £10m.
Holding and Chambers are back up.
Smh @ Pete 20 damm
Holding and chambers it all depends on who would be CB next season
If saliba back in contention and Ballard staying with us next season guess we could let them go but personally much rather we sell mari and Cedric I called it a waste purchase then and boy was I right
Rocky kolasinac is no longer cover at lb he he actually LCB cover and I prefer him there over mari any day
It not the price tag is probably because pepe was never good enough for the league prime example gervinho doing bits in France and trash in prem
Another prim example is guendouzi who doing well over there
By my logic we might have to worry about saliba
Willock hasn’t been getting games and struggling when he does
Yeah, I think I’m more in the keep Holding camp and sell Mari, Holding can do a good job as the left centre back and seems more mobile than the Spaniard, even if there’s not a lot in it.
Ballard is an interesting one Fred, he’d be a home based player so that would be a plus and whilst it’s a long shot Harry Clarke is having another good loan and playing right back up in Scotland, possible long term cover for Tomiyasu perhaps?
If Newcastle take all the names above we should throw in Pepe as a freebee.
Lol
Please, please Moaninho, (never ever wanted anything from you before) resurrect you interest in our “top of the range, five star, only true leader in our squad”, Granit Xhaka. He is nearly back to his magnificent best fitness wise and will guarantee you years of Champions League football. Honest!!🤞
