Smash and Gnab … You Gotta Laugh

Thanks to RockyLives for the title …

Now everyone knows it’s not becoming to take pleasure from the hardship of others … but on this occasion how can we resist 😂

Some comments during and after the game …

They’re playing a German team … so schadenfreude is appropriate

Kane penalty … who dived for that?

I wonder if Rose practices diving or if it just comes naturally to him. maybe he’s been having lessons from Ashley Young.

When does the DVD come out?!

No doubt Vertongen has gone to seek solace in the arms of… Eriksen’s wife….

Tiny Totts dispatched with Sergical precision.

Boris Johnson offers Mauricio Pochettino job as new Brexit secretary. ‘Nobody can get us out of Europe faster than this guy!’ explains the Prime Minister

Thanks for laugh dear neighbours … we’re looking forward to celebrating St Totteringham’s Day with you this season.

I was already in seventh heaven 😝 but to have a ‘let’s slate the spuds’ article on top of that, well, it doesn’t get any better does it?! Thank you Rasp/Peaches/Rocky 👍
Can’t wait for the return leg….
Best get out the St Totteringham day banners!
    Oh happy days……

  2. allezkev says:

Thanks for the post, a good laugh to start the day.
I saw Serge Gnabry make his Arsenal debut at Carrow Road a few years ago, if I recall he got injured shortly afterwards and was out for the rest of that season. He had an indifferent debut.

Arsenal are a lot more switched on these days when dealing with young players since Serge left us, Ben Knapper runs that side of things, it’s what most clubs do now. It doesn’t mean that you can keep every promising young player, that’s impossible, so Xavier Amaechi might do a Gnabry/Malen in a couple of years, it happens.

Man U might regret not signing Martinelli in time, that’s football.
Their loss will hopefully be our gain.

  3. VP of Oz says:

New stadium and the new records start – Mauricio Pochettino called for “calm” after his Tottenham Hotspur team had just suffered the club’s biggest-ever home defeat by losing 7-2 to Bayern Munich

  4. VP of Oz says:

and another record – heaviest home defeat by an English club in European competition.

  5. Thanks Rasp. If we don’t take the opportunity to laugh when the occasion presents itself then where’s the fun.

I’m sure it’ll bite us on the bum at some point but hey …….. not today 😁😁😁

  6. Sue says:

181 days in their new stadium, is all it took, for us to witness the humiliation, the capitulation of last night!!
The first English team to concede 7 in any European competition, since Spurs themselves lost 8-0 to FC Koln in the UEFA Intertoto cup back in July 1995! I have a feeling we’ll be seeing much more of this 😉🤣 Bravo!!

  7. RockyLives says:

To repeat a joke I’ve used on here before…

The Germans take far too much pleasure in the fact that we Brits don’t have a word for schadenfreude.

  8. GoonerB says:

Thanks Rocky and Rasp. One I heard earlier to add to the anecdotes.

There hasn’t been a hammering of this magnitude witnessed in North London since Eriksen arrived home unexpectedly early from training last week.

  9. RockyLives says:

    Poor old Spudders.

There really does seem to be “something rotten in the state of Spudmark…”

Which is seventh heaven for the rest of us.

  10. GoonerB says:

Sorry all. I think mine was a bit uncouth. Doesnt pass Peaches mum test. It was doing the rounds on social media earlier

  11. Sue says:

Maureen is the bookies’ favourite to succeed Pochettino…
Losing to Colchester, getting annihilated 7-2… the spuds certainly don’t disappoint… whatever next?!!

  12. Mike M says:

Morning all. It’s so much fun to enjoy this moment, I’m sick and tired of listening to how magnificently Spuds have done to get into their shiny new stadium. Well here are some facts/comparisons:
    1) Emirates cost 450m and finished on time, on budget. Toilet Bowl finished 9 months late and 400m OVER budget at a cost of about 1 bn.
    2) We went through the demise of a phenomenal team. Went to the C/L final the year our stadium opened. We have never recovered to the level we were at when we moved but are hopefully back on the upswing because the stadium is no longer a significant financial burden. It’s taken 13 years and counting…………. How long will it take them?
    3) We continued to sell our best players because we had to. But our manager stayed and got us into the C/L for 11 more years. Let’s see how they do.
    4) We have staged a few international games and the Emirates Cup every year. They will have concerts, NFL and all other kinds of circus acts. Let’s see how that pans out.
    5) They’ve had more managers than we’ve had centre forwards trying to get to our level and every one has spent money. sure they sold some good players too but let’s see if they can hold on to them now things are starting to go tits up.
This is a little bit of coughing back up all the crap that’s been rammed down our throats about Daniel Levy’s fantastic model. It’s not easy to do what they’re trying to do. We’ve been there, done that and suffered the consequences. I’m watching and waiting and every time it look like they’re going to flounder, I’m going to call them out. The smug Little Spuddies – our noisy neighbours.

  13. LB says:

It would be good if we could put some real daylight between us by playing a bit better.

I have been mulling Monday’s game over, can you think of one flowing passage of play, just one, I can’t, it really is poor state of affairs.

  14. RC78 says:

LB – Emery s team only play well offensively in transition, so basically when we are countering. If you want a nice flow, you need a different coach. At Psg, players told him to back off and they wanted to play possession footie again. He had to accept for L1 but they followed his lead for CL with the success you know (amazing losses to Barcelona among others)

  15. Actually LB, there was a passage of play in the second half when I thought to myself – oh we’ve strung a few passes together 😁 Can’t tell you when or who but I remember it happening.

  16. Sue says:

Well no surprise there then – to learn that Liverpool won’t be thrown out of the carabao cup, they’ve been handed a fine instead!

  17. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

    Excellent Rocky.

I watched the game on silent and how I laughed.

Pochitino seems like a decent man? Kind to his wife and possibly owns a dog, but as the years go by the shattered illusions of emulating Robbie Kean with the glory of Milk Cup victory become more and more distant.

Unfortunately, Poch is now more likely to be remembered as just another fat Totnumb manager to win eff all. As Martin Jol, Gross, and Gerry Francis scoured the planet for belts fitting for a 1920s silent comedy star, there hopes of Coco Pops victory rescinded.

Indeed, I propose a tribute silent comedy movie remake were, Poch, endowed with a magnificent moustache, becomes so irate with Stan Laurel he swings a punch at the perfectly body mass indexed comedian, but like Dele Ali, misses the target and hits Hardy instead. At this point, the perfectly cast Kane playing the gormless twat, falls over and appeals for a penalty.

They got what they deserved, and so did those with a love of a genre long gone but not forgotten

The Ghosts of the Thirties are Stirring

  18. LB says:

Great to read another of your comments Terry.

  19. LB says:

There was one Peaches? I must have missed it……..

  20. Sue says:

Omg after the excitement of 2pur7 last night, I didn’t think tonight would live up to that… but… Salzburg have scored twice at Anfield 😝 Chelsea are drawing…… oh come on!!!!

  21. RC78 says:

LFC and Chelsea getting away with it…

  22. RC78 says:

There were two standout plyaers for Inter tonight vs Barcelona (they shouldn’t lose this game but oh well): Barella and Brozovic. great midfielders.

  23. Sue says:

Talk about jammy, RC!! Oh well, I’m happy Salzburg scored 3..
I thought you were going to say Sanchez 😜

  24. Morning all

We have a New Post ……………..
