Deadline Day Surprises?

Are we short in defence with Calum Chambers on loan at Fulham and Kos out for most of the season?

Will some players who appear surplus to requirements be sold to fund the purchase of Livin La Loca?

Will Rambo either sign a new contract, or play the Club in the final year of his contract or seek to move elsewhere right at the death?

Will the spuds sign a new cleaner?

    Morning All,

I think our business is done apart from the possible loaning out aof a couple of players.

Could we see Nacho converted to CB or will the Greek boys come good?

That Spurs have managed to hold onto all their players is surprising. It shows how stupid their squad is or (more likely) that Levi has put ludicrous prices on them.

i scanned fake news and it is full of late Arsenal activities – Ospina to Napoli, Ramsey to sign a new deal, we want that Croat with blond hair – Vida?, joel Campbell to Olympiakos, nobody wants Welbeck (what a surprise). Dembele to stay at Barca.

    phew, all in one day?

Lucas Perez has signed for West Ham United on a permanent transfer.

The forward joined us from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016 and netted seven times in 21 appearances before returning to the Spanish side on loan last season.

Among the highlights of Perez’s time with us are his volley away to Bournemouth in January 2017 and his hat-trick in our UEFA Champions League victory over Basel.

We would like to thank Lucas for his contribution and wish him well for the future.

The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

Surprised to see Chambers moved on. At this stage of his career a loan looks like the end of his time here. I thought he’s looked better than Holding but… Liking Torreira and Guendozi.
Looking forward to Sunday. New faces, new plans. Growing pains for sure but the beginning of an opportunity to get better for a change.

Mary and Ted got married and had 4 children. Then Ted died of heart disease.

She married again and she and Bob had 2 more children. Bob was killed in a car accident, 12 years later…

Again Mary remarried and this time she an John had 2 more children.

Mary finally died, after having 8 children…

Standing before her coffin, the preacher prayed for her. He thanked the Lord for this very loving woman and said, “Lord, they are finally together”…

Ethel leaned over and quietly asked her best friend, “Margaret, do you think he means her 1st, 2nd, or 3rd husband”..?

Margaret replied, “I think he means her legs, Ethel”….

Haha GN5. Thanks for your post yesterday by the way, and thanks to Chas (I think) for this little debate starter.

I think the Dembele thing was just mates getting together in London. I rate Dembele but if Ramsey signs I feel we should look at Dembele as a future TW option, and have time to assess what our current players can do including the youngsters Nelson, Nketieh, and AMN. We may not need another one like Dembele once we look at these players more.

If Ramsey doesn’t sign then fair enough with Dembele. I am not a fan of including Ramsey in our plans if he is prepared to go past the TW without signing, and would have told him if he is not signed and committed then we will prioritise playing time to those that are.

Apart from question marks over our CD partnerships, and whether we are missing 1 quality CB, I feel we are good to go. I think I would play Lichtensteiner over Bellerin at the moment as Bellerin seems to be poorly educated as a defender, or at least he looks that way, and looks our weakest point that City and Chavs would likely expose.

Even with his supposed great pace I am surprised at how often players get a yard on him that he doesn’t make up and do question this so called pace of his and whether it is as real and clear cut as we believe.

Had a brief look back and Chas’ “Flexitarian” mate made me chuckle. I had to look it up to make sure it was a real thing. It must be one of those new trendy terms but in a nut shell it appears to be a weak willed (or pseudo) vegetarian…….so not a vegetarian at all then ๐Ÿ™‚ I think the older tried and tested term of omnivarian could quite happily still apply ๐Ÿ™‚

The discussion on Razor and whether he was a great was interesting. I felt he was a very important player, and in many senses an iconic player, that I really loved as much as those mercurial ones. For me he will never be as celebrated as the real flair or mercurial genius players but I believe his role and his style of play was vital for balance.

Maybe it is no co-incidence that we won stuff when he was donning the red and white and perhaps there is an argument that our (apparent) turning up of our noses at this style of player in recent years shows how important a player and character like Parlour can be. I don’t expect Torreira to be considered among the greats in the future but, with great flare players around him, he could turn out to be the most important piece of the jigsaw.

Oooh. Just seen a live update from the Ems on Sky sports deadline day. The rather aesthetically pleasing Gail basically said nothing is happening or is likely to happen, but I don’t feel that should stop them from popping back to Gail on a regular basis to keep telling us nothing is happening. I don’t think I have ever heard boring “nothing is happening” news and been quite so captivated till now.

Yet to see our new French hippy but you chaps seem to rate him.

Is he a Ray Parlour or a Manu Petit?

Liverpool have had a good window with some key signings, but the rest of the top 6 have done very little. We filled a few gaping holes, City bought Mahrez, Chelsea swapped keepers and got a couple in midfield, United got a LB and Fred, and Spurs have stood still. It seems the big teams are finding it hard to improve on what they already have. I put this down to all the very best players being at the best teams and none of them wanting to strengthen each other by selling. Also there does seem to be a lack of quality out there so crazy money is expected for unproven talent. It will be interesting to watch some of the lower sides this year as a few of them have paid the money and taken their chances. You wouldn’t have seen a promoted team paying ยฃ25m for someone that was linked with big teams (Seri), but that’s the norm these days with the amount of TV money and parachute payments that are available and some of the signings have been surprising (Seri, Soyoncu, Meyer, Mina, Bernard, Gomes, Yarmalenko, Dendoncker, Moutinho etc).

    Looking forward to watching:

    Lerma Bournemouth
    Meyer Crystal Palace
Bernard & Mina & Gomes Everton
    Seri Fulham
    Ghezzal & Soyoncu Leicester
Fabinho & Allison & Keita Liverpool
    Fred Man Utd
    Kenedy Newcastle
Wilshere & Yarmalenko & Anderson West Ham
    Dendoncker & Moutinho Wolves

Can’t wait for another cracking PL season starting tomorrow!
