Merry Christmas, Sanity is Over – Arsenal v Liverpool player ratings

Woo, that turned out better than I expected a good way into proceedings.

Slightly disappointed that we didn’t come away with all three points just to be able to rub their noses in it but hey ho, we could be feeling a whole lot worse over Christmas.

Cech must love playing for Arsenal there is always so much for him to do.

Bellerin: the great excitement was not knowing how far Hector could go, there was a moment when in the heady days of his upward trajectory that people thought if he added goals to his game he could be one of the all time greats — never gonna happen. Hector is what he is, a perfectly ok right wing back.

Koscielny, pre Sanchez goal, all over the place, post Sanchez goal a commited determined CB

Nacho, defensive player of the year, was replaced by Mustafi who was back from extreme bought of embarrassment which he suffered during the man u game.

Maitland-Niles pre Sanchez goal post Sanchez goal the young Tory was a joy to watch all game long.

What happened to Wilshere? He was bog standard average at two down, then Sanchez scored and then he turned into a super hero.

Xhaka’s game was something akin to a Wild West performance if there were such a thing, talk about the good the bad and the ugly.

Iwobi was a bit sub standard, I found myself actually wanting Walcott to come on and replace him; I never thought I would ever prefer Walcott over anyone ever again. Theeeo, Theeeo, Theeeo.

Sanchez, went from needing to be throttled to wanting to be carried around the ground on everyone’s shoulders in the space of ten minutes, but he is one of a small few who can change a game in a moment and that I suppose is the reason that he is always picked.

Ozil, there is television Ozil and live Ozil, the former is slow and not committed the latter is a regular genius, we had both today in that order.

Lacazette, got to say he was the only one who looked like it mattered to him that we were getting played off the park; it really was set up for him to grab a winner and all three points but as we know that was not to be. Maybe next time?

    Cheers, LB.

It was an absolutely insane night.
Like the ’79 5 minute cup final but with us scoring all three rapid fire goals this time.

As Ant said, the only way we were going to come away with all the points was by scoring a fourth.
Shame we couldn’t rub their noses in it but we have to be happy with a point after those first 52 minutes.
Simply awful, morons booing at half time.

I also didn’t understand booing The Ox.
Bang average player we got a fortune for.
    He’s history.

    Cheers LB

Interesting how many players you say had varying games according to the Sanchez goal.

    Morning Chas
    Agree with the morons bit

Right, I go get goals as the moment our third goal went in, there was a minor incident here and the laptop went down so I didn’t see replay

Great report LB, I still feel the unrest with the manager and the ‘important’ players contracts is really having a big impact on performances. You’ve got me on Ozil live/TV point, seeing as I watch it thousands of miles away, I wondered if it got worse the further away I am. But he has played well recently in patches. And on the point of Sanchez, we’ve had; Sanchez arriving, Sanchez staying, Sanchez realising and Sanchez going to leave performances, which I think are steadily getting worse. But all worth a punt. Awobi doesn’t look like a footballer when he’s in full flow, more like someone in a hurry through the crowds to get to work. But one in a hundred does come off. It was a typical modern Arsenal performance, And unlike the Man Utd game I’m not sulking today. Teams tend to play like their managers demeanour and christmas dinner at Arsene’s house would be to eat all his food, and he brings a bit more out of the kitchen. If that makes sense. [Although the turkey wants to leave].

    Morning All,

Looks as though I missed a cracker.

LB. Thanks. I trust your judgement, JW must have had a brilliant second half to earn your praise 😀

    kfd. Great comment

Inline goals for the lazy and those not wanting to see adverts.

Haha, this sums up how us having a corner seems to leave us more susceptible to conceding than for there to be any likelihood of us scoring. 🙂

  10. Rasp says:

Morning all, excellent ratings LB … thank you … nothing to disagree with.

Great to meet up with the Vines clan before the game … thanks to them all.

A crazy game, summed up Arsenal …. I experienced all the emotions …. in the end we were just very ‘Arsenal’

The booing is pathetic …. good luck to The Ox, he gave as much as he could when he played for us and he chose pastures new and took a pay cut!

“christmas dinner at Arsene’s house would be to eat all his food, and he brings a bit more out of the kitchen. If that makes sense.”

Hahahahaha, this made me laugh, what on earth are you on about?

  12. LB says:

I am surprised that no one has picked me up about TV Ozil and live Ozil, because if you think about it how on earth could I know there was a difference — you can’t watch the same game in two places.

  13. LB – how do you know about TV Ozil and live Ozil? I know I’m going to be sorry that I’ve asked 😳

  14. LB says:

    Peaches

I have often said that Ozil seems to be so much better when you see him play in the flesh; when at the game you can notice all the selfless running he does where as on TV they usually focus on his exaspertated expression at the end of a lung busting run from which another player with less skill was unable to find him with a telling pass.

By the way, I hope you and your family are all well.

  15. kfdickie says:

LB you’ve forgotten German Ozil as well, its said in some places [probably Germany] he plays better for Germany than Arsenal. As for the dinner at Arsene’s, you think they’ve done well to equalise…..

  16. GunnerN5 says:

    Good day all.

I don’t blog very much these days but I will finish off our 13 top season posts in the new year. I’ve already forwarded the next one to Chas to post when it’s suitable.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a merry Xmas and most of all a fulfilling, prosperous and most of all a healthy 2018.

    GN5

  17. mickydidit89 says:

Come on Burnley, stop being so wet and score

  18. kelsey says:

    Hello everyone
Just popped in to wish you all a Merry Xmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

  19. mickydidit89 says:

Crystals you old git, how nice to see you

    Any predictions oh mystic one

  20. mickydidit89 says:

    And don’t say “relegation” 🙂

  21. GunnerN5 says:

It feels surreal but we are 21 points behind at the mid way point of the season!!!

  22. VP of Oz says:

Some Arsenal fans are blaming Cech for the loss, saying he is past it whilst some Liverpool fans are saying Mignolet is garbagel

I say COYG and to one and all Merry Christmas

  23. Big Raddy says:

    Morning All,

Day of Celebration (Jul) here in Baconland.

Wishing all AA’ers a Merry Xmas and thank you for your company throughout the year

  24. chas says:

Now that’s what I call a santa outfit

  25. Big Raddy says:

The Xmas Santa Advent calendar has been a delight. Today’s chaps are brilliant.

    but I like 7.48 best 😀

  26. mickydidit89 says:

Tidings of comfort and joy to all

Wish some bloody snow was laying around all deep and crisp and even

  27. mickydidit89 says:

    Erik

Of course you like 7:48 best. Chas puts more effort into his “one for the gentlemen” than he does his “one for the ladies”

I refer the honourable to 7:43 as evidence

  28. mickydidit89 says:

Bloody knew that’d prompt you to show your weak equal ops. side 🙂

  29. mickydidit89 says:

Of course what you should have done was to ramp up the gentlemen’s seasonal offerings

  30. mickydidit89 says:

Hey, wee bit of football talk

I was at the keyboard yesterday morning, so thought I’d have a peep at the Real Barca game. Only had time for 10 mins, but left thinking Real were going to thrash Barca from the little I saw.

    Just seen 0-3

If Pep wasn’t a Barca DNA man, he could have been the big Jan transfer as surely Zidane is history

  31. Big Raddy says:

    Anceotti to replace Zizou?

  32. Rasp says:

Afternoon everyone ….a very Merry Christmas to one and all 🙂

  33. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

    Cheers chas

Once again it’s that time of year when we all wish we had more wealth and a buxom wench. Despite all those in need, I can honestly say that every time I pray for a win on the lottery, it’s I that am the winner.

I have tried to change, I really have. Last year, my neighbor Reg lost his wife. A real tragedy, for Reg that is. She on the other hand ran off with a bloke who unlike him hasn’t got an unhealthy fixation on 17th century corsets.

Even for a Totnumb fan, he was in a terrible state. One night I could hear terrible screams coming from his gaff, so worried for his safety I kicked his door down and what transpired next really shocked me. He was on his couch wearing a really tight bodice and was attempting suicide by watching a video tape of Totnumb Hotspurs 1994/95 season. I think I got there just in time because they were about to show a clip of David Howells passing range.

He was really grateful for me saving his life and that night I prayed to the Lord that he look after him and that I win the lottery.

A few days later I found out that he had made me the sole beneficiary on his will. I was moved and really humbled by his gesture so the next day I went out and bought him a present, a video of Totnumbs 1975/76 relegation season

    Happy Xmas all.

  34. Just grabbing 30 minutes sitting on my backside ………… Wishing all my favourite Gooners a very Happy Xmas, eat drink and be merry. Lots of love xxx
