The transfer saga has ended and our squad will remain as such (barring injuries) until the end of the year. Given our current squad, our management, the current spirit around the club as well as given our competition at national and European levels, what would success look like at the end of May 2018 for you?
A short but interesting post from

Arsenal News 24/7

Cheers, RC.
I’m not even sure what my expectations are for the Bournemouth game this weekend, so I’m definitely not the person to ask about what to expect of May 2018. 🙂
RC. Thank you.
Obviously some silverware..
Challenging for Top 4 (we must be realistic)
Development of our young players – in particular Iwobi, Lacazette, Holding and Bellerin
A glorious swan song for Santi Cazorla
a successful season would be a mid table finish with perhaps reaching the quarter finals of the cups. we are not equipped to reach the top or even near the top. We need a Saudi Arabian prince to buy the club and invest a couple of billion pounds. Then we would stand a chance. My favourite is Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Not only is he rich but he is super intelligent. He would know how to get the media and authorities on our side.
I just want to see fight from the players
From over the horizon does gallop Brave Erik on his noble steed to save the day. Hooray.
Thanks RC
Top Four would really surprise me, and I’d be more than happy. I have developed quite a liking for The FAC, and would love another one of those bad boys.
The next two games, Bnmth and Chelsea will tell us all we need to know about our chances as it will be down to attitude and togetherness
Thanks RC. A successful season for me would be to have Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in charge come May.
If not then my second choice would be an ownership consortium comprised of Merson, Robson (Stewart) and Townsend….with a face twitching 2nd hand car dealer as manager.
I hope this is a visual metaphor for the Club’s season.

Mohammed Tinned Salmon.
May be swimming against the tide but he is gathering pace, definitely the one for me……………….
Thanks RC, like others, I’m in no mind to predict …. but at this point I’d take a top 4 place and progressing as far in the Europa League as we can.
To be fair RC I always set the bar high. I still think that we have an incredibly strong squad and one capable of challenging. As long as no-one plays up and creates disharmony in the squad, and AW gets his team set up and balance right, I don’t feel we have a squad that is less talented or inferior to anyone else.
I would look at the season in 2 halves. The first half till January is to get back to consistent good strong performances and winning games regularly. I would like us to be in the mix come January. If that is the case it sends a positive message to players we want to bring in and has likely quashed the media negativity. The club looks positive again.
At this point I would look to do deals on those with contracts winding down who are looking to leave us. Lemar in and Sanchez out I am fine with. If Ozil hasn’t re-signed then I think I would like to see if either of the Spanish giants would be prepared to do a player +/- cash swap deal on a player we could do with.
Hopefully even with the ins and outs we would still continue well through to the end of the season and my ambition (whether realistic or not) is to be EPL champions.
From January a front 3 with 2 10’s behind a 9 of :
Lemar Lacazette
Bale
🙂
Lemar Lacazette
Bale
My drugs aren’t strong enough. Can I have some of yours GB 🙂
GB. Are you “in the know”? I certainly hope so!
Is there anyone who looks at the telly guide, sees England are playing, and thinks….that’s it, cancel all plans, and get the pizzas in?
No
Win EPL, Win FA cup, Win Europa league, simple as that.
Chas ROLF
Are there any other international games you’d get the pizzas in for?
Saw Spain playing Italy the other night, and maybe should have bothered
Micky, no, I don’t think that either. In fact, having just heard the team full of totnum players and some guy called Oxlade Chamberlain, I’d be quite happy if England lost 😡
Totally agree rasp
We want our old football back!
Micky
I don’t really watch any football anymore apart from games I attend. 🙂
Hi Chas what games u attending this year
concentrate on Europa cup, win it, play for CL next season, fire Wenger asap and appoint someone who can deliver something different, something exciting, something worth waiting for.
No more the same dull season after season fighting for top four, more excuses than good deliveries, 2 players short to be real title contenders…I sent myself to sleep now zzzz….
Golaso
7:24 absolutely marvellous, and I swear one of the players is even wearing a scrum cap
Prepared for action I’m sure he called it
Perhaps Arsene should tool our defenders up in body armour on Saturday
Sending out a clear message we mean business. Like those American footballers with Dallas style Joan Collins shoulder pads and shit like that
Norway Germany micky
To be frank fred, I think I’ll mirror chas, and save my footballing energy for Saturday
Liverpool fans starting to realise what Ox’s final ball is like!
England losing 1 nil and the Ox playing wide left …. not his favoured position …. maybe he’ll defect and play for Wales?
Yes FFG, the Ox is all huff and puff and no end product
Lol @ rasp
7.24 Proper football
maybe he’ll defect and play for Wales?
ha ha ha very good Rasp 🙂
Nite all
He’s not much huff or puff either Rasp to be fair. He’s barely broke into a run this game.
No anti-Arsenal agenda in the media at all………
I seriously think Jack could be more influential in the team than the Ox FGG
Does he pass any more
Hi all – thanks for all your replies. I will go all in and aim for 2 cup wins:
– Europa League
– FA Cup
As in the league, a top 5 would be more than ok.
I think that we should rotate our squad in the league and league cup and play the Europea league and the FA Cup seriously
What about Cababo cup Aaron
A Successful season would be a combination of about 3 or 4 of the below –
Top 3 finish
FAC or Europa win
Pep quits and ManCity finish 5th
Mourinho stays and finishes 6th
Spuds finish 8th
Ozil & Sanchez re-sign
Lemar (not Kendrick) arrives in Jan
Kroenke buys Arsenal FanTV
Lacazette golden boot winner just pips Giroud
Would it be greedy of me for wanting all of the above
fred1266,
Already won that myself a bunch of times, surfing after hurricanes.
We’ll count that as a win for the Arsenal.

chas. You are on a excellent run of form.
Library? Better leave it to the expert Didit.
Statue is fab
Good Morning,
A simple question RC, but requiring a complex answer — probably.
I note you ask ‘what would be a successful season for Arsenal?, which is more difficult to answer, in some ways than ‘what is your prediction of where we will finish in May 2018?’
The latter is just a guess and you would receive as many predictions as there are personalities – and is pointless.
So you have chosen the best question, but will receive just as many different answers.
I would like Arsenal to win the Premier League – but the likelihood of that is remote.
I would not want Arsenal to be relegated or even to flirt with relegation – and again, the likelihood of that is remote.
So what then would be acceptable? First, that the warring gangs of supporters grow up and realise none of them have a god given right to tell anyone else that they ‘do not know what they are talking about’.
The club need to regroup and explain what the roles of the various managers are, including the coach’s, one Mr Wenger.
That would stop instantly the boring and incredibly stupid guesses and counter-guesses as to who is responsible for what is seen as a supposedly ‘catastrophic’ transfer window.
Whooo – and now to what would be ‘acceptable’ for the team.
Any position in the top 4 would be more than acceptable, although it would be sneered at by those as ‘not good enough’ by those who might not be too wonderful in their own lives. And top 4 is possible – if probably unlikely.
Where then? Anything in the range of 5th to 7th would act as a red line requiring the Arsenal owner and management to stop and look at where they are taking the club — and then act – calmly, decisively and immediately and take the steps necessary to restore this great club to its place competing with the other elite clubs — and that is not an arrogant and puerile demand to win every competition we are eligible for. That never made any sense.
I know this is a simplistic summation of some very difficult issues, even if we get into the top 4, and so the only way to resolve all these issues is to win the premiership — early days, blah, blah — but the alternative is not appealing – especially concerning fan relationships. 😦
Morning all. One thing I don’t want this season is for the Ox to step up and play well. Nothing against the lad but that will just put even more negative focus on Wenger and why he couldn’t get it out of him.
If Jack is fit then I would start to give him games. He still potentially has that inherent rare talent. I actually think the ozil position wouldn’t be a bad idea to try him in. The right side of our 2 number 10’s.
Belated Motning all
Library. Norway. Cheated 🙂
It annoys me, as so often with contemporary architecture, it’s about the design rather than the function ie an ego trip. There is more air in that library than books 🙄
As for the rain clip, I’m still watching because I’m sure any second now a cat will come skidding around the corner
a successful season for me would be watching Le Fraud walk out the door, followed by the Yank..
NEW POST
1. Getting back into the Champions League.
2. Signing Lemar in January/next June (Wenger said we would try for him again)
3. Ozil & Sanchez being sold in January ( think we should have sold both in the summer and used the money to bring in new players)
4. The board making it clear they are working with Wenger to bring in a new manager and new structure for the 2018-2019 season.
