Brilliant brilliant brilliant stuff, Rasp. 🙂
Merry Christmas everyone. Dont forget the Boxing Day fun! 🙂 🙂 🙂
The service last night was brilliant. One of the best I have attended. The minister dimmed the lights and then converted into a comedian, speaking about politics, the me generation and the ills of society.
Very unusual and good fun. 🙂
GIE. Very festive!
arnie. Sounds great, wish I had been there. We were ploughing our way through duck and grouse with the trimmings. Heavy work
GiE. Fantastic. 🙂
Evonne. what can I say. Very happy that we are all in your thoughts today. 🙂
Raddy. 🙂 it was really nice. particularly liked the allegory of the three shephards coming from the south to spread the alternative word on DEVOLUTION! 🙂
Merry Xmas everyone
Hope you all have a special day. Thanks for all your friendship in good times and bad and for helping to keep the blog going.
Lots of love peaches
Here’s a turn up for the books, we are having a green Christmas here in London, Ontario, Canada it’s a balmy 4c and raining.
Merry Christmas everybody and a big thank you to Rasp and Peaches for all of their dedication in keeping AA as one of the premier Arsenal sites.
Thanks GN5, a healthy and happy new year to all the family.
Barolo? Oh go on then….
Tricky situation Mrs Exile shouldn’t really be drinking, we forgot to chill any white or bubbles so had to reach for the Reds, Barolo was the first one my hand came to, like fate. Then realised Mrs Exile should only have one or two before leaving three hours otherwise Harry might get all drunk and disorderly. So that’s a lot of a bottle left for me ….. first world problems.
Oh dear the problems of motherhood –
Merry Xmas one and all!
All you Gooners, Merry Xmas and Happy holidays!
Barolo! You guys live high off the hog
Merry festivus AA’era
Look what Andy Murray got for Xmas …

Haha Raddy, it was a gift from a client, not a bad drop at all
Merry Christmas to all.
Merry Xmas my dear AAers
I had a great day. Last night was waiting by the chimney armed with the shotgun when all of a sudden Terry Wogans head appeared from under the floorboards.
“Fuck off Wogan. Ime not in the mood for wry one liners”
“haha Transplant. The charm of a Nigerian blarney stone it is. Well, if you dont go round your brothers for Christmas dinner, you will spend the rest of eternity wearing sequins and getting nada points from the German jury”
Went round my brothers and for the first time did not have a punch up over the political career of Archbishop Makarios
Instead, had a fist fight over whether the English should adopt Olive Oil as Turkey dressing. Cant breath through my nose at the moment, but at least it eliminates the sacrilegious aroma of that non oiled Turkey
For some reason I am now softened. No longer scaring passengers by admitting to an alluring fascination of crashing the car with oncoming traffic or warning my annoying nephew that the beating of flash teenagers excites me.
I feel changed. Tomorrow I might even answer the door wearing clothes and telephone people without the involvement of heavy breathing
The Ghosts of the Thirties are Stirring
Appears I have made a Barolo boo boo, it seems 2010 was a return to form, and predictions that some will be good for decades, I do hope mine wasn’t one of them as I’m sure both my boys would have enjoyed drinking a wine older than them at some point in the future.
Expected it to be much heavier but was good for drinking with or without food.
just to add to the tanks to the custodians of this site, and especially Peaches and Rasp, for the fantastic service to us Arsenal fans. And congrats! 🙂
lovely photo, Ant n’ Duck. 🙂
HO HO HO Merry Christmas AA’ers and scappy yard nude xx
Morning all.
Match Day
Damn had a good sleep, and that after a two hour kip on a sofa yesterday.
Feeling guuuuuurrrd
People slow out of the blocks this morning
Not looking good for a freshening Boxing Day Surf, but snow forecast for tomorrow. Yippee. Got hills, have sledges, can build jumps
Best of the transfer gossip is Schneiderlin. Mind you, that’s pretty good news.
A merry christmas to you all from snowy Norway. Terry’s input yesterday evening was brilliant and in some way i think we should use it every festive season as an AA ode to christmas.
Micky you are up at silly o’ clock even on boxing day. Do you never have a lie in? My hat off to you Sir crack of dawn.
Gie dont concern yourself with having drunk the vintage barolo. It would probably take until your kids are mid 30’s before they distinguish a barolo from an alcopop anyway and in that time it would have driven you mad looking at it. You are going to be Arsene’s succesor anyway so when you are on your shiny 7mil pa salary you can buy up all the remaining barolos from that year then.
Off up onto the slopes soon Micky.
Morning GB
10 Hours sleep in the last 24 🙂
Norway? Sounds wonderful. What’s the Christmas Day/Eve grub of choice>
Noticed Raddy went through Grouse and Duck. Mighty impressive, I thought.
I believe some Norwegian speciality is smoked sheeps head 😦
Yip, sheep head. Smalahove, just looked it up.
you cannot beat jellied pigs’ trotters, delish!
what did Santa bring you micky and GB? I’ll be judging if you were good guys
2014 sporting highlights on beebs, fantastic!
Morning Eddie
I got this book.
If you love superb photography, the Outer Hebrides, Harris Tweed, and the art of connecting lansdscape, seascape, culture, craft and tradition, then it’s unbeatable.

Eddie
Looks like I’m going to Poland early in the New Year. Never been. Really looking forward to it.
Micky we had Ribbe for xmas dinner but on the 24th as is the tradition here. I was actually the cook for the day. We drove up to the mountains yesterday while all in blighty were having their dinner. Only a mere -14 degrees while unloading the car.
Sounds great GB.
Ribbe: “The Ribbe (roast pork rib) is a classic on the Norwegian Christmas table. The rib, which is actually a whole side of pork rather than just spare ribs, is very rich and juicy and is therefore served with equally rich and juicy trimmings: Cowberry sauce, sauerkraut, potatoes, thick gravy, Christmas sausage, apples and prunes”
When you say “unloading the car” up the mountain, to do what? Nordic Skiing?
Just checked the temperature guage Micky. -17 degrees this morning.
Ok, GB, I’ll admit that’s now getting a little chilly
Morning All
Jellied pig’s trotters? Surely a joke
We were blessed yesterday – first time I can ever remember snow on the 25th (without snow beforehand) and then a clear sunny sky. Effing cold but beautiful.
Today – not a cloud in the sky which means a drive up North and then a walk along the serene coastland of North Sjælland. Can’t wait.
Mrs Raddy will no doubt go swimming along with her Viking mates. I have been appointed official towel holder. Don’t know if I can handle the responsibility.
Right …. short post to write….
No I am doing downhill or “alpine” skiing micky. I have done “langrenn” as they call it here but not this time. You can do it from where we are though. We are at Halfjell resort, one of the 94 winter olympic venues.
Eddie, merry christmas to you. I cannot let you know what i got for christmas as it is far too early and cold to be judged as a good boy or not.
Well shiver me timbers. I was sure it was supposed to get warmer as the day moves on but it is now -18.5 degrees.
Had to look up Cowberry Sauce
moun′tain cran′berry
n.
a shrub, Vaccinium vitis-idaea, of the heath family, growing in northern regions and having tart red berries. Also called cowberry, lingonberry.
micky – are you? Which part? my brother’s new partner is a private tour operator in warsaw, I could negotiate you a special deal 🙂
I got a fab book with photos too, it is called ‘The Arsenal Shirts’, big fat book it is
Do you mean cloudberry micky?
GB
The recipe I found and listed above for Ribbe, says Cowberry Sauce, so I looked it up
Eddie
Don’t know where. Probably somewhere nasty as I want a factory to make sauce for me, so inevitably industrial and grim. Hopefully, though, I’ll fly into somewhere interesting.
Oi, you rude buggers. I said Good Morning ….
Oh ok micky. Just i had heard of cloudberry sauce over here but not cowberry.
Morning raddy. For the next few days i am a fellow scandi to your goodself. Lots of Dansk up for some skiing where we are btw.
Raddy
Run away with the towels. Obviously 🙂
GB. An expensive undertaking. I was asked by some friends to go with them. Too rich for us.
Micky 😀
Wonder whether NB and Cockle got a “picture book” for Xmas?
Anyone heard anything from Kelsey???
His absence over Xmas is worrying
Ding ding !…….round one…… Boxing Day !.
I awake to minus temperatures every morning with a frosty frigid missus !.
Hope you`re right, Didit, about snow tomorrow, I too have my own Piste….5 acres of generously sloping fields !…..not exactly Norway, but beggars cant be choosers !.
Cockie
The only thing missing is the -18 degrees, so I have the answer.
Sledge in Speedos. The effect will be the same, saving £’s on travel.
Ok, we’re ramping up the numbers even further today. Up to about 16 for lunch. Good news is that every single male is a Gunner, so all well come KO time 🙂
On the bubble lift. Ski conditions seem good. Bit brass monkeys and all that. Just seen some looney zooming past only in a pair of leopard print speedos shouting “ger off my laaand me old china”……..
No-one around but there is a
New Post
Oi! Oi! BR, where’s the pre-match?
‘morning all, I do hope all you AAers are feeling fine this St. Stephen’s Day.
All this talk of food just highlights how widespread the AA family is, and how spreadwide some individual members are. 😀
In this particular Norfolk household, Christmas was put on hold until Sunday. One section of the family being away in the French Alps for a week’s skiing.
So just myself, my wife, one son and his wife sat down to a meal of English roast beef and in the absence of noisy grand-children, some sensible conversation. Bliss!!
Last!!! Ha Ha.
Morning!
