Has Arsène been out in the sun to long? Playing Volley ball on a Brazilian beach in searing heat, God he even had a smile on his face. Here we have a man who for all the time he has been with us, he has only ever had Arsenal football club on his mind, and now we see a demented 64 year old prancing on foreign shores in, wait for it, swimming trunks of all things, bearing his ripped six pack, and ogling Brazilian beach babes, bugger me, he thinks his Ronaldo.
Sun stroke can affect people in different ways, some are sick as a dog, some have hallucinations, and some spend money which is not normal to them. Well Hallelujah, Wenger needs a holiday like this before every transfer window. I have to wonder what he does at night but I don’t think I would believe it.
Here we have a man who has always spent Arsenal’s money like its his own. He is known as the tightest Premier league manager, he goes down in the world of football Managers as one of the most steadfast boring buggers you could wish to meet, but a bit of sun and the man has turned into a jet-setting spending machine, someone said he also offered to buy a drink.
We have to get him back, and get him back quickly, as the way things are going we will start to look like a club that have ambition, people will start to talk, the press will have a field day. I can see the headlines, Wenger on his hols, drinking and partying into the early hours, and low and behold, scantily clad babes rumoured to be on the same floor at his hotel.
What of Arsenals future? The stiff upper lips of Arsenal FC, I can see their faces, What the hell is he up to out there, prancing half naked on the beach, without a tie, what is he doing, just glad he hasn’t an Arsenal logo t shirt on.
Arsène Wenger is showing us, that there is still life left in the old dog. He has signed that new 3 year contract and when people of his age take time out and start enjoying life they start to realise that its not always best to carry on the same way you always have. Life is very short and if you don’t start grabbing the bull by the horns you can easily slide into oblivion.
Arsène has had a taste of victory with our latest FA cup win, 9 years he had to wait, sometimes he may have thought he would never see another. After a bad defeat on the opening day of the season he bought us Ozil.
Arsène, as normal, came out and said this was a disappointing result but we are focused and we have belief and we are together. Many of us thought O my God not another season of misery, don’t lie that’s what you thought. Well low and behold Arsenal dug in they started to pull together, within a few weeks we pulled that defeat back and was heading the table, yes it was touch and go at times and the top of the league changed hands a few times but we were always there, come Christmas we were still there, we had seen the so called big clubs all have catastrophes and we were still up there in fact in front of them.
Injuries of course is what stopped our progress and injuries just as we hit the top so called teams, a few high scoring results against knocked everybody’s socks off and heads went down. We lost our top spot and to be honest we never came near to getting it back, but we did hang in there, we got fourth spot and we won a cup. That is a lot more than many thought after the Villa game, and look at us now FA cup holders and now in the market for 30 odd million pound players.
Yes Arsène and the boys have been holidaying but the time to start work has never left them, they will be coming back to training knowing that new blood is also coming and a new season awaits. Wenger would have got over his sunstroke and he will be pushing for more of the same, could this be the year for the league, keep spending Arsène and it most certainly could be.

Very funny but you may have a point. The FA Cup win has obviously taken a lot of pressure off AW and having money burning a hole in his pocket has freed him of all the guilt he was suffering from for not winning anything in 9 years. Good for him, he has been able to relax in Brazil and he probably got his chorizo wet with some gorgious beach babe as well. 🙂
Well played Steve, he is still spending money like it’s his own though, because he now has the coffers to spend.
As for your comment about rotation I wrote a post on the subject quite a while back, it’s not only reason for injury due to wear and year but also those staccato performances when he puts too many in in one game (Carling Cup, CL, Xmas Fixture pile up. Much rather 2/3 per game astounding suggested.

Ime not fooled for a minute per Arsenes ‘new’ demeanour.
I am exactly the same whilst holidaying on the beach. I enjoy the young nubile bodies and they in turn are equally repulsed by mine.
I willingly allow them to use my hirsute body as a towel substitute and tie me to a deck chair at seas edge to scare of sharks. You can always tell when ime on a beach, the crabs start legging it to water.
Though we all have a great time, like Arsene, my mind is always on work. As Arsene stared intently at some Brazilian beauty’s posterior he was now doubt thinking “Sanchez would look great in that”.
As I said, I am the same, always thinking about work. Even whilst making love I can not switch off. Deciphering a complicated Inheritance tax question etc. Ive lost count the amount of times that straight after the throes of passion I will utter “oh baby, an effective tax rate of 24%”
Arsene hasnt changed. Hes just got more money to play with and hes excited about it, and so are we.
Great post Steve, the change in Arsene’s demeanour is probably due to the fact that he now has the resources to buy the quality of player that really enhances the squad.
Previously he had top scrape around a bit to find affordable run-abouts rather than the supercars he (secretly) yearned for. He has never once complained about or in any way criticised the board over the financial situation.
I’m sure that he is a much happier man now that the crippling level of debt has been cleared.

This has been a carefully laid plan showing AW on the beach eyeing up the crumpet whilst all the deals had already been done to be announced spasmodically over these current few weeks.

Sorry to hear your story Terry, many people suffered and i can understand how you feel, But those Germans were close on 70 years ago, i Know people have long memories especially when you have lost someone close, but we cannot blame the children for what their parents did. England did their fair share of bad things and although i feel bad about it life goes on, I just hope we have all learnt by what has happened in the past, and Make sure it never happens again. That’s up to us, and our kids.

I think the Germans have suffered the guilt for long enough, but some of them still do. I have a few German friends and they are lovely people, sorted out their guilt and would never become involved in anything again that was fascist. I also know many Greeks and they seem to have forgiven as well. It is hard I know, but we have to move on…. the world is still not a pretty place, but some of us have to start somewhere. Ohh fuck… I normally say I’ll never get involved in this sort of thing in pubs or the internet. We just have to be careful of the Italians lol

I am glad the Germans won for two reasons.
1] The Argentinian team posed with a poster saying the Malvinas [Falklands to everyone else] is ours in a recent friendly. So screw them.
2] Argentina have wonderful players but love to cheat and dive.
Anyway Germany are the better team.
The best team, and not just on the night, won deservedly.

Ozil will be knackered will take him months to recover,Mertesacker will go into his shell as having been dropped deep down he will lose confidence and Podolski will just keep smiling if he plays sits on the bench or buggers off.
We only need about 7 more players to really complete as Theo is out for another 6 months,Sanogo is the king of the air shot,Campbell is in the soup, Jenkinson isn’t ready yet, Arteta is slowing up,Szsney needs some decent competion,Wilshere needs to get up off the floor,Vermaelen wants regular footbal, Kosceinly needs to be careful about getting carded,but the trump card is that we have Diaby and now Sanchez will lead us single handed to the title.:)

Really enjoyed the game last night, thought both teams were looking to win it without leaving their back line exposed which meant it was very tactical but at the same time full of special moments of football.
This thing about Messi not being able to be considered a true great of our game without winning the WC is absolute bollocks. Cruyff, Platini, Puskas etc, there are a number of greats than never quite had the team, and if you look at Messi’s teammates he is the standout player there are a few good players and then there are makeweights. Very hard for even the best players in the world to drag average players to glory, just ask Christiano.
Whilst the cameras focussing on the losers kept going back to the Messi, the ones looking at the winners didn’t know which player to look at next, and the clearest message to me was they were going to live and die as a squad together, no one looked to blame anyone, no one was the star, they were all equal.
Definitely more Germans please.

Congratulations Germany and commiserations to Argentina.
A world Cup we all looked forward to, but many of us the thrill left the competition when our own team exited, Myself Gutted as i really felt we had a chance, England had 2 losess and a draw, so nothing to shout about, but importantly as it is with Arsenal the future is not all bad.
England fielded a young team, maybe they lacked experience and were exploited a little the nerves were probably frayed and the nations hopes weighed heavily on their young shoulders, Who knows what may have happened had Theo and the OX had been available for that we will never know but i admire Hodgeson for his picks, Gibbo could have been included but maybe his time will come.
Our old enemy has won the world cup and although we won wars in the past you dont get Knighthoods for that.
Germany have had many enemies in the past and some still hold grudges, we understand some of the bad things they did and i hope we never forget. But that was then and now is now. The Germany today has helped people all round the world, they are a member of the EU and they pay out millions to charities, yes we cannot forget the past but we also have to admire them as well.
Germany have built a team of youngsters and they could be right up the top for a long time but so has England and we will never be that far behind them, yes this world cup we had our arses spanked but like Arsenal we are building for the future.
