“Always pick your strongest XI, Arsene”

So, here we are in December, and what a great month of football we have ahead of us, which continues with Everton on Saturday, I mean Sunday!

Couple of comments caught my eye the other day:

LB: “I expect Walcott, Rosicky and Flamini to start on Wednesday with Wilshere, Ozil and Arteta moving to the bench; we could even have something as radical as a start for Bendtner”

Followed by:

Rasp: “Nah, we have to start with near our strongest side on Wednesday, it would be dangerous to underestimate Hull. We can sub the likes of Ozil and Giroud if we build a commanding lead”

Well, I’m in the camp that says always pick your strongest X1, however, there must be times where one of the 2nd XI’ers will be more effective than a First XI’er when the latter is knackered. In other words, by picking the Former, you would still be selecting your strongest XI on that particular day.

Of course there are some players that just do have that Eveready Battery Syndrome, whereas some appear to have more complex wiring, and unless everything is fully operational, their performance dips dramatically. I don’t know whether this is a mental or physical failing, but it does appear to be true.

I guess that with every aspect of today’s game being so carefully monitored and scrutinized by complex computer models, then Red Zones would pop on our Leaders’ Screen, but these things can never take in the full picture.

I say always pick the strongest XI, but how do you work that out? Sure we have a multitude of options in midfield, while fewer in defence or as striker. Does Ollie really show signs of fatigue and a vulnerability to injury? I can’t see it. Yesterday there was some talk of That Dutch Bloke. Would Utd have won the League so easily last term without him playing every game. I doubt it.

What is our strongest XI? The one that will perform most effectively on the day given the variables such as type of opposition. Then, these variables will vary as the game progresses and create natural opportunities for change. We effectively rotate two or three players every game by way of substitutions.

The real solution is to charge into an unassailable 4-0 lead inside 20, then make the changes 😛

Maybe the strongest XI is simply the one that is able to take the three points.
Isn’t it great that we’re not even sure what the strongest XI actually is?
Shame Micky had to go out to sort the missing Tara situation but he’ll bloody love that banner. 🙂

  2. Norfolk Gooner says:

Well done Micky,”once more unto the breach dear friends”.

The simplest solution is often the best. Just play the strongest X1, I couldn’t agree more.

err, just what is the strongest X!? 😀

  3. Georgaki-pyrovolitis says:

Is Arsene’s strongest 11 the same as your strongest 11? Do you have any more gems like that one? Sometimes I cannot resist the temptation of reacting to a stupid blog……sorry

  4. JanMan says:

Thanks for the post Micky. Best 11 is always the way to go but I agree with Norfolk, what is the best 11? When everyone is fit we probably have a best 14 or 15 so then it comes down to tactics based on who we are playing and any pertaining fitness issues.

  5. chas says:

Gooner, civil servant, toxicologist…………..makes sense why you think spreading poison is a worthwhile occupation. Twat.

  7. Georgaki-pyrovolitis says:

Really Chas? Hurling abuse because of Internet anonymity. Brave man.

  8. Norfolk Gooner says:

Time to go, things to do before watching The Clash of the Mid-Table Giants. 😉

  9. Norfolk Gooner says:

    Troll Alert!!!

Ignore him Chas, he’ll go away on his own.

  10. Räsp says:

George you are a guest on here and I presume new to reading posts. The author today is a long standing blogger who always writes in a tongue in cheek manner …. perhaps his efforts are wasted on those like yourself who lack humour.

  11. MickyDidIt89 says:

Ha, back. Daughters opposition wimped out and didn’t turn up. Nothing to do with the 7-0 last time I doubt 🙂

Thanks for epic banner. Superb 🙂

    No offence taken Georgaki-pyrovolitis.

  12. MickyDidIt89 says:

Can I point out, I wrote this as a quick conversation starter before the Hull game, but I reckon main points about rotation still stand.

  13. Georgaki-pyrovolitis says:

I apologise, this is my first time on here, thought it was another of the many negative blogs. Sometimes I surf the blogs with the newsnow aggregator and sometimes react to the numerous negative sites.

Just read your “In Praise Of Ivan The Not-So-Terrible”, excellent stuff.

  14. chas says:

    Wow, my profound apologies, Georgaki.
    Excellent stuff.

  15. Räsp says:

Hi Micky, apologies. We’ve had internet problems and it was all a bit of a rush. I amended your text slightly (as the Hull game has been and gone) but I think the points you raise are still valid.

As you wrote, I was in the ‘don’t make too many changes’ camp. We made 5 against Hull and it paid off – the early goal was key.

I reckon we now know what AW believes is his best 11 …. Sz, Sagna, BFG, Koz, Gibbs, Arteta, Jack, Ramsey, Cazorla, Özil and Giroud. Flamini, Nacho and Rosicky are all just about as good as their counterparts and the likes of Theo, Gnabry the Ox and Podolski are all able to come in and offer a different option.

  16. Georgaki-pyrovolitis says:

    Thanks Chas!

Just to let you know, I’m in the pro-Wenger camp and only accept substantiated opinion. I’m open to be persuaded one way or another if the evidence is compelling. The doomers who rant against everything Arsenal cannot support their positions. And I try keep my insults on the mild end of the spectrum (a subjective measure I admit).

  17. Räsp says:

G-p, if you read back through our posts over the last 4 years you will see that your opinion is shared by the majority on this site

  18. Georgaki-pyrovolitis says:

    Thanks. I’ll visit more often.

  19. MickyDidIt89 says:

I think it’s probably the first time in years Arsene knows his strongest XI. I’d say the question mark remains over whether there are games in which you’d start Arteta and Flamini together.

However, I remain firmly in the rotation camp a la Hull game.

  20. Räsp says:

I’m not anti rotation, just not too many changes unless the opposition is very weak = lower league in the FA cup. Generally 2 or 3 changes is find because everyone plays the same system, but there are players like Mertesacker and Giroud who are less easy to replace.

  21. MickyDidIt89 says:

Pre Hull, the valid point was made (Raddy I think) that the Hull three points are as big as say the Chelsea three points, however, I’d argue that somehow you need to have your 1st XI’ers in peak condition for the big clashes, and hence the need to rest/rotate against sides you are expected to beat if you are to be considerd Champions material.

With luck in terms of injuries, this can still represent few changes over the course of a season, but changes there must be when you consider the sheer amount of games.

  22. Räsp says:

We’re going to be without Sagna and Flamini tomorrow, but we’ll still have an excellent side and a very strong bench.

  23. MickyDidIt89 says:

True Rasp, but did we really feel the impact of replacing Ollie with Bendy? I don’t think so. The shape and style remained.

  24. MickyDidIt89 says:

Sagna will be a loss for sure, but as for Jenks, well I have a different set of rules for him because he is a Gunner 🙂

  25. MickyDidIt89 says:

Right, I now have two children to entertain.

  26. Räsp says:

I don’t think you can tell from that one game Micky. Against the better teams we will need to convert our chances. Bendy worked hard and took his goal well but also missed a couple but more importantly his first touch, ability to hold up the ball and general awareness is not as good as Giroud’s.

  27. alan says:

debatable to be honest, fatigue can cause injuries and therefore lose the player for more than one game if not given rest at some time. Podolski return couldnt have come at a better time, the only position where we need to rotate and dont have the similar quality is upfront

  28. arnie says:

Good afternoon everyone. Late start today.

Micky, fantastic stuff. Very cleverly constructed argument, very difficult to argue against, but still it has to be done. have to say personally am in the other camp, but Micky has managed to put sufficient doubts in my mind. For eample, by referring to the home game against Napoli. Anyway, nvertheless, a strong counter attack has to be launched, and will do my best.

But later, because other duties call now. Back later, guys, keep em coming. 😀 😀

  29. LB says:

Are we sure this Flamini injured story is true? According to AFC.Com everyone is fit who played on Wednesday.

Hi Micky, I know you have described your posts as “fillers” but there is much more to them than that unflattering term suggests. I have been trying to think of a way of describing them and the word that comes to mind is “friendly”. They are not political, they are not trying to redress the status quo and they are not designed with a trip wire to a hornets nest, no they are “friendly”. I like them.

  30. chas says:

    Lukas is back in training.

  31. LB says:

I can’t wait to see Podolski and Ozil play in the same team. 50 games together already for the German national team; Ozil having someone he really knows to play with up front and not to mention the fact that Podolski’s presence will lift Ozil no end.

Ooop I am getting carried away and forgot that we have a weak squad and can’t possibly win the league, silly me.

  32. dandan says:

Nice one Mickey good to see that fans have the confidence to compare the quality’s of our squad members for different situations. My problem is that I keep being reminded of this “see below” and know in my heart they are only sitting on their hands waiting to become the keyboard warriors they think they are.

The revival this season has taken many by surprise, not least the club’s own fans, many of whom had begun to question the manager. The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust issued a statement at the start of the season warning that it would be “inappropriate” to offer Wenger a new contract at the time, and he has been widely criticised during the trophy drought of recent years.

Who would deny him a new contract today.

  33. MickyDidIt89 says:

Utd 0 1 Toon. Not over, but worth pointing out 🙂

dandan, I was really sorry to read about your holly tree. Like a few of our native species, it is much undervalued. Love them with their beautiful leaves and bark. Beautiful wood inside as well.

    LB, thank you.

  34. evonne says:

manc leaving the stadium 5 mins before end of the game. Disgraceful, I mean it. After all the trophies they won, a few bad results and they are unhappy. Shocking

  35. MickyDidIt89 says:

    It is over now ROLF

  36. MickyDidIt89 says:

On a more serious note, which one of you bastards has hidden my helicopter remote controller?

  37. RA says:

LB has it right that your Post ‘fillers’ are rather more than that, and are always cleverly spiced with humour, a point also mentioned by the Rasper! 🙂

I could not help but smile at your Rumsfeld-esque summary as a summation to substantiate the Post headline. (Secretary of State – the known knowns, the known unknowns etc)

    (a) “Always pick your best X1”

    (b) What is our strongest XI?

    (c) The one that will perform most effectively on the day given the variables such as type of opposition.
These variables will vary as the game progresses and create natural opportunities for change.

    That is priceless logic! 🙂

  38. LB says:

How on earth did we drop points to that shower of shite?

Cleverly and Jones……manu’s midfield, I shake my head in incredulity.

  39. pickford says:

What’s the worst case scenerio if Wenger was replaced, fans moaning, “at least he got us in the top 4.”

  40. MickyDidIt89 says:

They had the Dutch Bloke’s shoulder on that day!

  41. Norfolk Gooner says:

Am I dreaming? Man U playing at Old Toilet have penalty appeal turned down…AND have a goal disallowed for off-side. I see, though, that Fergie time still applies… three minutes added on three minutes forty seconds played.

Great support for the Mancs, no fans booed at the end of the game…they had all left by that time. 😀 😀

  42. Norfolk Gooner says:

Pickford, the worst case scenario is we get a manager like Moyes and the team fall apart while the rest of the league fall about laughing.

  43. MickyDidIt89 says:

Don’t go picking on my illogic RA.

Just because your man enough to withstand the 10 minute plea for a post and I’m not 🙂

  44. chas says:

    Moist In
    Moist In
    Moist In.

  45. chas says:

NG it’s a minimum of 3 minutes so could be anything up to 3 minutes 59 seconds added on.

  46. Norfolk Gooner says:

OK Chas, two out of three aint bad, as Meatloaf might say.

If Villa win away at Fulham, and that’s not an unlikely result, Manure will drop to tenth!

Then the pundit’s faces will be as red as Fergie’s nose. 😀

  47. RA says:

I love your logic, Micky! 🙂

  48. chas says:

Haha, NG, I’m probably wrong again anyway.

  49. chas says:

  50. jnyc says:

Rasp, what was the consensus on how many points Fergie was worth per season? Most people say 10, i always said ridiculous, more like 20.
cabaye better than anyone in utd mf, and we have no room for him, even though he wants to come to Arsenal. Debuchy looks good also.

  51. Norfolk Gooner says:

Ooh! Ominous, Oilers and Chavs both one nil up, only thirty minutes played.

    Nice one Micky

I always enjoy your posts. Theres a touch of left foot right shoe right foot left shoe about them that i like.

Yes Micky, always pick your strongest team

My theory is this. As a Gooner, I trust that Arsene always picks our best team

Now, if I was a Utd fan, I would have more faith if Moyes wife picked it.

Its a question of faith. I have full confidence in Arsene, just like Utd fans have none in Moyes.

  53. RA says:

I think you are more right than wrong, Chas, if perhaps a little more precise than the actualite. 🙂

Extra time is always expressed as a ‘minimum’.

    — If a 3 minute minimum was announced and then there was a substitution that would add another 30 seconds.
    — If there was an injury which took 2 minutes that would be added too, so 3 minutes plus 30 seconds plus 2 minutes becomes 5 minutes 30 seconds.
    — In Fergie’s day if he needed another 5 minutes he would wave his giant watch and he would get it, plus another minute, (just in case).

  54. Bayonne Jean says:

Saints and Orcs just tied their fixtures!

  55. Norfolk Gooner says:

That’s better Southampton have equalised against the Oilers.

  56. Norfolk Gooner says:

    I missed that BJ, Stoke 1 – Chavs 1

  57. Norfolk Gooner says:

Scousers got lucky again, own goal puts them one up.

  58. RA says:

So Mr Terry are ‘strongest’ and ‘best’ synonyms? 🙂

  59. evonne says:

I predicted some boring results for today.
No wonder Micky couldn’t understand a word of my gibberish

    I’ll get me coat

  60. Hi all

Sorry, I’ve been a very busy grandma today, no excuse I know.

I had no internet this morning and had fully intended to make sure that Micky’s post was bang up to date so I apologise if some of it reads odd today.

I think Arsene does know who his best 11 are and luckily his best are more than 11 so there’s room to manoeuvre where there hasn’t been for a while. We are in a lucky moment I think and we jolly well deserve it.

I watched the Manu game hahahahaha – no penalty!!! goal offside!!!! How low can they go 😆

Musn’t laugh at others’ misfortune but how quiet was Old Trafford???? And as others have said how did we lose to them??

    Probably not Redders.hahaha

I dont mind who plays as long as Arsene picks the side. Arsenes sides are always delicious.

  62. Also, I have a spare ticket for tomorrow if anyone wants to talk to me about it …….. email me at arsenalnuts@live.co.uk

  63. arnie says:

Absolutely fantastic stuff, Micky. Really, really love it. Who can argue against the idea that the strongest XI should play. Surely, this is unrefutable.

There is one side of the counter argument, that Micky alludes to, which is “What is our strongest XI”? This, he says depends on the state of fatigue “Eveready Battery Syndrome”, on the opposition, and as he indicates on the stage of play. Back to this third issue later.

Assume for the moment that our objective is to win a specific game, handsomely. This objective is not a given, back to this point later. But, leaving this broader issues aside, let me focus on the fine print. “The real solution is to charge into an unassailable 4-0 lead inside 20, then make the changes.” This is the bit on which I raise my first point of disagreement. Mind you, I am not necessarily saying I disagree with Micky, actually far from it, just raising points of debate here.

We have a relatively young team, and to my mind we score at least as many goals in the final 20 as the first 20. Then, given the objective of winning the game, why must it necessarily be true that we should start with the strongest XI? Suppose the counterfactual happens, that is we are not ahead 4-0 or whatever in the first 20, our first XI then has to play the whole game, or at least 70 mins. In the process, fatigue, or even worse injuries, may follow. Should we not ensure that the best XI is out there in the final 20, when we are more likely to drive home the advantage?

Second, surely our objective ultimately is to do well in the season as a whole. From this alternate and broader objective, we need to look at team selection more strategically. Keeping in full view the fact that the team has to do well in future games as well, which may be against potentially stronger teams. The Hull game then comes into perspective.

Bottomline: clear as mud! But, my only point is that team selection is partly strategic. The strategic pursuit of a dynamic objective means that effective team selection is like shooting a moving object. Not so simple as playing the strongest XI, even if we know what this strongest XI was!

    On with the debate!!!! 😀 😀 😀

  64. MickyDidIt89 says:

    “Musn’t laugh at others’ misfortune”
This is football not people’s health, so yes you can 🙂

  65. MickyDidIt89 says:

Rule number one, wait until it’s stationary, then shoot it 🙂

  66. arnie says:

    Stoke 3-2 Chelsea – Oussama Assaidi 😀 😀

  67. arnie says:

Micky, ha ha ha!!!! 😀 😀

  68. MickyDidIt89 says:

    Stoke 3 Chelsea 2
    Laughing yet Peaches?

  69. Tongue in cheek Micky ……….. if you knew how many spuds I’ve had to spend time with this week you’d understand my need for control 😉

  70. Splitting my sides 😆

  71. MickyDidIt89 says:

There’s a sordid side to your otherwise elegant life, isn’t there Peaches 🙂

  72. RockyLives says:

    Well done Saints.

And who’d have thunk – well done Orcs 😀

(And well done Micky for a very enjoyable post).

  73. JanMan says:

Taxi for Moyers and Mourinho 🙂

  74. RockyLives says:

Just Sunderland to do the biz now…

  75. RockyLives says:

I can’t see Moyes being there at the end of the season.

We need to step up our campaign:

Moist In! Moist In! Moist In!

  76. LB says:

Mark Hughs …….always said he was a top man lol

  77. That’s a bit of Karma, that chav result isn’t it, didn’t Maureen say something spiteful about us this week?

  78. arnie says:

ha ha ha, what a day!!!!! What remains is giving Everton a good old-fashioned bashing!!! 😀 😀 😀

  79. LB says:

Oussama Assaidi (Stoke City) is shown the yellow card for excessive celebration…………………what?

Anything less than running around totally naked, in my opinion, is not excessive in this situation.

  80. chas says:

  81. JanMan says:

Rocky. We just have to capitalize when results go our way. Hopefully we will do the business tomorrow.

  82. arnie says:

Rocky: Yes, Moist in!! But, Moist does not matter much any more.

Maureen in! Maureen in! Maureen in!!!!

  83. JanMan says:

I am sure the twats on MOTD will make all kinds of excuses for UTD and the Chavs!!

  84. chas says:

I’m still seeing people on twatter saying that tomorrow’s game is now massive. As if it wasn’t before and as if it’s been made more massive by the oily clubs dropping points. Strange.

  85. arnie says:

Maureen: “Sometimes mistakes kill an organisation.” ha ha ha 😀 😀 😀

  86. LB says:

Don’t you worry, they will find some.

  87. Very nice goal by the Stoke player …………. I watched them the other week and Hughes seems to have taken the Orc out of them.

  88. LB says:

Today’s results make tomorrows game far LESS important.

  89. Thats one way of looking at it 😛

  90. JanMan says:

At the end of the day we just have to concentrate on our game. I don’t believe in the “massive” game theory as in my opinion it does not matter who we are playing…the only thing that is massive is taking three points whenever possible in each game that we play.

  91. chas says:

Precisely, Janman, they’re all massive and as BR said, each 3 points equally important.

  92. chas says:

    Happy Birthday, JT. 🙂

  93. chas says:

Reminds me a bit of this one…….

  94. Gööner In Exile says:

Haven’t had time to check in for a couple of days.

Just popping in now to have a bloody good ROLF at today’s results. Come on Sunderland make it a perfect day!

4 points clear and a game in hand 😀

Tomorrow is no more or less important….if we get 3 points we are 7 points clear, that would be bloody fantastic. Especially considering the upcoming fixtures.

Anyone think Lady Luck is smiling down on us this year?

  95. LB says:

I find it quite scary sometimes to think just how good Thiery Henry was.

  96. Oh LB, weren’t we just the luckiest supporters in the world to get to watch him week in week out 🙂

  97. Gööner In Exile says:

LB I think quite a few fans forget that….and Bergkamp and Pires, and Vieira.

How many players in the PL (not just Arsenal) since come close to them for footballing ability?

  98. LB says:

Amazing collection of players, just amazing.

All we have to do is play to our potential, and then we will win this league.

The sad thing for our rivals is that we are doing it one year early.

I believe bext season we will be much better and fully expect us to win 3 leagues in a row, just like the thirties side.

I want that Champions League too

  100. evonne says:

Just read your post Micky. You have a habit of asking some awkward questions! Did anyone provide some sensible answers? Sorry I had no time to read, I was a busy grandma too today 🙂

All I can say is that it is a terrific problem to have – what is our best/starting XI; a problem we wished we had last season! But now with our paper thin squad we are struggling to pick the best 6 players! Ha, how pretty are we sitting? Very pretty

Thank you for the great post and apologies for not answering it, it is too deep/meaningful for my current state of mind (scatty).

  101. Kgööner says:

we want the ucl title. win it and defend it!

manure fans are spoilt rotten. makes me wonder what they’d have done in a 7 year trophy dry spell. slit their wrists? whiners!

And when it comes to Arsenal i am a realist

I would also like loads of tasy women, tons of cash, and a hairline like Shaking Stevens, but fully understand these aims could be difficult

  103. chas says:

How about this one from Mr Rolled up sleeves. 🙂

That would be something Kgooner. Winning and defending the UCL has never been done before but in the future we have every chance of doing it.

  105. chas says:

So we win it this season in Lisbon.
Where do we win it when we successfully defend it? 😆

  106. RA says:

We have been privileged to have seen some of the most beautiful football ever played in the EPL or any other league in any other country – ever!

And as Big G, Peaches and Micky have said what a blessing to have witnessed Thierry, Patrick and Denis among so many others in their pomp.

Apparently Arsene Wenger had something to do with all of it. Imagine! 🙂

  107. chas says:

  108. chas says:

All of the Geordies have fallen for the Beijing Red. 🙂

  109. chas says:

    This started it.

  110. chas says:

  111. Kgööner says:

well Terry, would be great to pull a surprise on bayern this year. I worry they may retain it this year. I’m becoming increasingly confident of our chances in the UCL this season as we continue to defy our own expectations. the next 3 weeks should set me clear.
no harm in a bit of self deluding day dreaming

  112. chas says:

Right no more after this one else the site won’t load!

  113. evonne says:

nobody to pinch me so I keep on dreaming, come on Sunderland

  114. arnie says:

Sunderland 1-0 Tottenham – Adam Johnson

  115. arnie says:

Evonne: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!!!! 😀 😀

  116. arnie says:

oh dear, TotNumbs equalised straightaway. 😦

  117. jnyc says:

Chas! thanks so much for posting the chinese kid tweets, he is hilarious. I would love to watch matches with him!

  118. evonne says:

i hope not Arnie, I dream some truly nasty stuff 🙂

    Sund~ gave spurs that goal

  119. evonne says:

jnyc – I don’t think he is a Chinese kid at all, he is a prankster, could be an African woman for what we know

  120. chas says:

The Arse fans on twatter were speculating that he was probably Wayne Gooney because he’s been giving Gooners such a laugh.

  121. MickyDidIt89 says:

Although I’m cheesed off the game was moved from Saturday, as I now can’t go, boy is it better for the lads, as on the back of today’s results they can go into the game nice and relaxed.

  122. Gööner In Exile says:

Just read your post Micky, strongest XI for the match in hand has to be the order of the day, but as we are reminded so often this season there are no walkover a in this league.

But what is our strongest XI….I have no idea because I can’t fit them all in, strange Arsene hasn’t trotted out this is my best ever squad, because we all know the Invincibles lacked depth, we can arguably cover injuries at full back and one centre back. We can cover two injuries in midfield at the moment and not look weaker or change our style. When Ox is back we can probably lose three. We can lose 1 up front (actually 2 because we are already without Pod and Nik B has stepped in and done a job.

You know the results have been good for you when you look forward to MotD even though Arsenal aren’t on.

  123. Gööner In Exile says:

You know Altidore wouldn’t be a bad back up striker.

  124. evonne says:

even if Spuds win they will still be 6th

  125. evonne says:

The best result for us today was Southampton Shitty draw. If Southampton can do draw, then we can win

  126. arnie says:

Michael Dawson on Sky Sports: “It was massive, we have had a big game at Fulham and a big game today and two big results. It shows the togetherness of this squad to come back from the disappointment at Man City.” Speaks for itself!!! Fulham 19th and Sunderland 20th at teh moment. 😀 😀

Hello chums, just back from Asia. Man U lose at home? Ho ho. Man City dropping more points on the road? Ha ha ha, brilliant. Chelsea lose? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hilarious, bloody hilarious!!

I’ve read Micky’s post and, before I read through the comments, I just wanted to say good stuff, Mr Didit.

Personally, I think too much is made of the starting XI, there can be arguments that subs often have a more important role in securing a result than various players who start the match. I’d put Monreal in that bracket.

    Ok, back to those comments.

Just watching the Chelsea game and N’Zonzi looks a really good player for Stoke. Would fit in well at Arsenal as a DM I reckon. Think we were linked with him a season or 2 ago and I can see why.

Not that we need any players right now!

Are you one of those accountants whose idiotic customers get their accounts in at the last minute, leaving you with a massive workload in the lead up to Christmas.
My accountant is not very pleased with me 🙂

  136. MickyDidIt89 says:

Have to say how surprised I am that Utd under Moyes, given the same personal (bar the addition of Fellaini) as runaway leaders last season, are failing quite so spectacularly.

  137. MickyDidIt89 says:

    Morning all

Are you up looking after little George GIE?

Kids are great arnt they? I myself am blessed with two girls, 17 and 22 now.

I always wanted a son to complete the set, if you know what I mean.

Make the most of it GIE, they grow up so fast. I remember those wonderful sleepness nights. Feigning a coma or narcolepsy can only get you so far.

I can recall been ordered by my wife to help my eldest build a doll house. The answer “ime not gay love” is not a good response. Three hours spent in A&E whilst a Doctor attempts to dislodge Prince Charming from your ear is not a nice experience

Such a rewarding experince when they become teens to. If only someone had told me I would become a Cab Driver? My dream job for sure, and unpaid to.

Now my eldest is going out with a guy I dont like. Hes a PE teacher whos into martial arts. Intimidating me with strange kicks over my head.

Ive tried to split them up many times, but it always backfires. I offered him money, he took it, and then stayed anyway. i threatened him with violence, so he practiced a weird martial art death grip on my groin.

In desperation I tried to honey trap him but he was to clever and reversed it on me. The doctor who removed Prince Charming rememberd me, as he kindly removed the hair brush from my nostril.

    Wonderful times GIE.

Afraid I have to up sticks and go.

Enjoy the game all who are going. Raddy, Rasp, Peaches, Ant ‘n Duck, LB, 26, GM, GoonerB, Transplant. That probably just about covers it 🙂

    Come on you Gunnnnners

  140. Gööner In Exile says:

    Morning all and sniffer.

Micky I’ve brought the extra work on myself, I don’t normally do year ends, more monthly on site Financial Controller for small OMBs. But it’s profitable work so have recently started going that way creating more work.

Terry Mrs Exile had a girls night out yesterday that started at 2 in the afternoon so George has been my responsibility all afternoon and for breakfast. He is getting more of a handful everyday, the first baby gate was installed yesterday as he is a fast little bugger! As you say all goes so fast can’t believe we are only a month away from being a year old. He has inherited his mothers looks and my appetite 🙂 I’m about to serve weetabix, fruit and toast for his breakfast.

  141. evonne says:

that Assaidi goal, woooooow!!! The player looked surprised too:)
Chelsea defence is pants, absolute pants. Bring them on, we can have them for breakfast with weetabix, fruit and toasts 🙂

  142. Gööner In Exile says:

  143. LB says:

And tea, I like a cup of tea.

  144. evonne says:

    milk and sugar pet?

Oh GiE…..what can I say, he is just a doll, chunky gorgeous doll…and those hands yum yum, edible. And he is showing no nerves before the game 🙂

  145. Gööner In Exile says:

Haha Evonne, nerves of steel, he was laughing his head off as me and his Grandad were laughing at ManUre and cheering the results coming in on Soccer Saturday.

  146. evonne says:

oh, he is such a joy, you lucky lucky man!

My granddaughter slept right through the United game, despite both grandmothers giving a few shouts here and there. No, I don’t think she is even remotely interested in footy 😦 Mind you, there wasn’t that much to shout about 🙂

  147. chas says:

GIE, It’s about time you got another in the oven, isn’t it?

  148. You’re a grandma evonne?

  149. Räsp says:

    Morning all.

Gie, the expression on young George’s face is that of a centre back looking at a striker saying “there’s no way you’re getting past me son” 🙂

  150. evonne says:

yes GM!!! A happy, proud emergency grandma 🙂 Peaches is the proper grandma and Nicole looks just like her, drop dead gorgeous

  151. evonne says:

Rasp 🙂 I thought the face said ‘You’re having a larf mate’

  152. I would never have guessed 🙂

  153. evonne says:

you chancer! are you going to the game today?

  154. No. I gave my ticket to my son. regretting it now

  155. I may go to the Tavern anyway and watch it there

  156. evonne says:

I think peaches has a spare one

  157. evonne says:

    i phoned her already

  158. I’ve got an Australian over who’s desperate for one. I got him a Chelsea ticket.

  159. gm – I have a spare, do you want it? It’s upper tier opposite Arsene – you can wave – row 13. Come, you know it’s going to be great 🙂

  160. I don’t think I can magic two for you 😦

  161. I want to go but i feel sorrry for the Aussie. One of us will take it. I’ll see if there’s another one around

  162. I just tweeted a pic of the baby, can’t work out how to get it onto the blog ………… can someone help please …..

  163. Ok, see you in the pub.

  164. Räsp says:
