Who’s coming, who’s going, who’s staying?

First may I say it would be great if someone could find the time to list all the players we are linked with in the months ahead as we did last year – it would give us all a damn good laugh.

What is not so funny is to try to decide who will stay and who will leave if Arsène goes ahead and buys a number of exceptional or  experienced players for immediate inclusion in the first team squad whilst at the same time extending the contracts of a number of current players.

What then will happen to the abundance of talent we know is coming through, as they see their opportunities diminish? Do we increase our costs by offering them increased contracts to stay? Indeed would you stay under those circumstances? I am not sure  I would.

I wonder what a tranche of our best young talent who are thinking of leaving us because they see their path to the first team squad blocked by these new purchases would say to any of the gifted youngsters who we plan to recruit for our academy? Word soon goes round in football, would they still be so keen to join.

Are we to abandon the position we have worked so hard to achieve or should we accept we are nearly there, settle for purchasing some short-term cover for older players who are nearing their time and concentrate on producing the ball playing winners that have been the hallmark of our academy in recent years? And can we achieve all this whilst bearing in mind the effect this has on the fair play regulations which begin to bite this year.

Additionally, if as seems likely the long serving Pat Rice will leave us this summer. How do we see Arsène reorganising the club? – from within with the devil he knows, or is there perhaps a DB10 or his like waiting out there ready to join us with fresh ideas to help AW deliver us to greater glory?

Remember DB himself was plucked by an astute Johan Cruyff from an academy side and plunged into the first team squad against the wishes of many staff members. DB of course blossomed  under the challenge and eventually became the epitome of what Arsenal’s football is all about. Without that single action by an inspired Cruyff would we I wonder, be the club we are today?

Perhaps we also need the specialist defensive coach that many suggested earlier this season to help stop the hemorrhage of goals from set pieces,  or should we take  our chances and use the pace throughout the team to defend by pressing all over the pitch, as per the Barcelona model? Would that work week in week out in the premier league, do we have the skill levels?

So many questions for AW to answer, but  what do you think.

Who will we buy?

 Who will we sell?

 Who will we promote?

Who will be Arsène’s next right hand man?

Are we likely to lose loanees and  top youngsters if they cannot see first team squad places?

How should we set up and defend?

How will our choices affect where we finnish next season?

I look forward to your comments.

  1. Galway Gooner says:

DB is a non-runner for number 2 as he wont fly. Unless he can get over that we shouldn’t even consider him.
Selling wise (assuming we can find buyers!) Alu, Denilson, Cham, Park, Carlos, Squigy, NikB (i would be open to keeping him as a decent backup). I dont think that Diaby is worth a squad place as he never plays but i would keep Yossi if we can continue the loan option as he is a good one to have. Flappy will likely leave as he now knows he is never going to be number1. Andre is unlikey to come back.
Hope that we can get Podolski and maybe one other big signing in the middle of the park. Would imagine that we will also pick up a young defender, perhaps at left back where neither Gibbs or Santos have been fully convincing.

  2. Great post DD
    Good morning all.

    Who will we buy?
I hope we buy a solid veteran back up GK.
Mvila would be nice along with Podolski, i pray that he will be not at the exit of RVP.
    Who will we sell?
    NikB, AA, Denilson, Cham,
    Who will we promote?
    miyaichi,Miquel, Campbell and possiblyAfobe
Who will be Arsène’s next right hand man?
    Steve Bould
Are we likely to lose loanees and top youngsters if they cannot see first team squad places?
Yes i think that part of the loaning out philosophy is make or break time, if they aint good enough they are also in the shop window….. i think Lansbury will go, but i hope not.
How should we set up and defend?
As we have last couple of games, as a team hunting in packs against Manutd or Colchester Utd.
How will our choices affect where we finish next season?
Current form is champions form, we need consistency, confidence and concentration for whoever we play whenever we play. With a couple of additions i don’t see why minnow spenders Arsenal can show the cash endowed daddies how it can be done. They will soon get tired of wasting money if success can be be gained from spending little.

  3. Stephen Q has probably visited the wrong site, bless him! 🙂

  4. John says:

Massive turn around and busy summer need. We have a good base squad but it does need investment for it to reach it’s potential. Podolski is good start, Vertonghen again looks as if he is coming. We need more then that to compete, Dempsey yes please to replace the out going Arshavin. Even if we get Podolski we need another experienced striker to take the pressure off RVP and Walcott. We need depth in our midfield to rotate over a season long campaign, which Wenger has not been able to do in the last two/three campaigns

An experienced back up goalkeeper would be handy, Rob Green springs to mind, cheap, Premier League experienced and is better then both Fabianski and Almunia. Mainly because Scezecny is our number one and will be for next 20 years.

One and crucial position a new midfielder behind the central striker, Rosicky is good player to have in the squad and Ramsey maybe one for future but we need some one in the middle of their ages.

    Morning Stephen Q,

Your first comment has gone in the bin because we don’t trade in childish insults on this site.

If you’d like to make the same point again using grown up language we will allow it. Your opinion is valid on this site – but not that type of delivery.

  6. Rasp says:

    Stephen Q,

Your second comment has also gone into trash now. How about you phrase your points as if you’re talking to fellow Arsenal supporters – its manu and the spuds who are the enemy or have you forgotten that?

  7. Makumyx says:

To Sell : ArshavinThe Assasin… forgets to cock his gun when shooting. Bendtner … Soo full of self, a liability. You dont want to always be on the news for the wrong reason accidents and all. Vela… though loved, with poldi coming… Djorou The Girraffe. With Mertesecker healed, he is financial baggage. Fabianski… wants out, and cannot out do The Fan Fav Chess. Mannone… too average. Galindo, Lansbury,….

    Buy: Podolski, Vortengen.

Promote: Miyaichi, Eisfeld, Yennaris, Le CoQ, Martinez, and Miguel.

  9. 1derman says:

Morning all, great discursive post DD, firstly apologies for my absence and name variation, I’ve had a nightmare with wordpress!!!

Who will we buy? Podolski, another midfielder, someone completely off the radar, possibly Dempsey

Who will we sell ? Bendtner (out of contract),Denilson, Almunia(out of contract), Squillaci,Arshavin,Chamahk ,Park, Lansbury and possibly Fabianski

Who will we promote? Afobe, Coquelin,Bartley

For me the standout candidate for assistant is Neil Banfield simples

In terms of setting up and defending, lets have aa look until the end of the season. We have been quietly keeping clean sheets recently perhaps nothing may need to be done lets see

Provided we dont get wiped out by the extraordinary injuries we seem to have received in recent seasons I expect us to be challenging for the title

  10. Abiodun says:

Mr AW should pls buy the liks of podolsky, dempsy, ventonghen,&m villa

  11. Makumyx says:

Slimgin…whatever *evil grin* good list but… Can we have Andres Villas Boas as a deputy to wenger? Or… eehhh… say FRANK RIJKAARD I certainly would love to see any of this deputise Le Boss.

  12. Gooner In Exile says:

Interesting post DD and lots of decisions to make for AW in the coming months. It would be nice to have 3rd secured a couple of games before the end of the season as it would be good to see some of the squad assessed in some risk free games….not sure if that is mathematically possible.

Like others I think it would be good to promote Bouldy if we are truly looking to replace Pat…..the thing is you cannot question Pats love for the club and watching him on the touch line this year tells me he has had as much to do with this turnaround as Arsene and the players. Bringing Bould through with some of his former youth team charges would be good for the squad.

Re acquisitions and departures that’s up to Arsene assessing the squad, I think ages are an important factor.

  13. Slimgingergooner says:

I forgot to add that i cant see any more youngsters being promoted just yet as we already have a load knocking at the door due to massive injuries this season. The likes of

    Ramsey (still a youngster!)

are first in the queue and i dont see any need to increase that number at the moment.

Also, regarding the GK situation, i think that Fabianski is a capable understudy so i think a young GK who can be brought through is a good option, though i can also appreciate the need for a more mature head in that position aswell. Either is fine with me.

  14. Slimgingergooner says:

    One last thing,

Even with RVP in the squad next year i see us just falling short in the PL. We will probably see a large turnaround of players at the club again in the summer and this is bound to have a disruptive effect of some sort. Also, teams like City and United will be looking to test the FFP rules to see what they can get away with and i still think big signings will be made in the summer. Chelsea are desperate to get back in the top 4 next year and i think they will be big players in the window. Overall, we will have a fantastic chance in the league, and i defs see us winning a trophy, but the league may be one year too soon imho.

  15. Makumyx says:

    Well said slimgingergooner

  16. boyo says:

You cant win the league straight away but what is NB is that we are in the fight. I will take a cup and a good fight for the league and who knows if you are in the fight you may just win

  17. luke says:

we needs to sell all our deadwood such as chamack squill etca possibly keep bentner and arshavin to moscow then we need diaby and wilshere fitt as they are pure talent and need to buy podolski then second striker possibly suarez or dempsey as suarez is very talented but dempsey is proven in the league. then wee need a strong denfender i like vertonghen as hes is a defensive rock who is very technically gifted and has the ability to play in many positions especially lb where we look kinda shaky. and then finally we need to talented midfeilders who can play in many postitions we need m,villa and eriksen players who do not need introduction.
obviously this will mean a massivly inflated spuad so we will keep it under wraps by revolving positions in the league and young promising teams in the cups.

  18. Zen-Shing Feng Holusuqunu Anqi says:

Not sure if this is a wishlist or arealistic list

Youth GK (promote the worthy youngsters so they don’t lose hope)

    New Coach:
    Couldn’t be bothered

    Bartley/ Miquel
Loan out (to Bolton, for magic, haha):
Ramsey (if Hoilett arrives…I’m being serious here)
    Joel Campbell

  19. dandan says:

Morning all thanks for your interest, it would seem that a settled view of who should leave exists, Although Zen I don’t think Ramsey will be one of those. It is the other questions that pose the problems I guess. It will be interesting to see what other consensus is reached if any as the day progresses.

Rasp. Thanks for dealing with our exuberant poster earlier on.

  20. Red Arse says:

    Gee, this is quite hard.

    I would need to check the current ages of our players at 1st Jan 2012, given the HGP rules, but as a first stab;

    Total of 25 Squad Players;

    Maximum of 17 Non Home-grown:

    (1) Existing NHGP already Arsenal Players:
Sagna, Kozzer, Vermaelen, Santos, Jolly German Giant, Song, Diaby, Arteta, Rosicky, RVP, Gervinho, Fabianski, Djourou. (13)

    (2) New Signings?:
    [Maybe?] M’Vila, Podolski, Vertonghen. (3)

    (3) Home Grown Players (Over 21 y.o.) :
Chezzer, Martinez, Lansbury, Coquelain, Gibbs, Bartley, Frimpong, Ramsey, Theo. (9)

That makes a total of 25 Players.

    In addition, we can have any number of HGP under the age of 21 y.o. including;
Little Jack, Miquel, Jenkinson, The Ox, Ryo, Joel Campbell, Benik Afobe etc.

By deduction, anyone in the current 1st team squad not included above has to go, together with the various over age loanees at home or abroad, such as, Chamakh, Park, Almunia, Arshavin, Galindo, Wellington, Vela etc.

OK, the age groups may need to be adjusted, but that is a formidable array of talent. EOE. 🙂

  21. Makumyx says:

Zeng shin. Promote Ramsey? I say the guy Rammed in his promotion long ago…!

  22. dandan says:

Red Arse, What about the coaching side, will Pat stay, Rasp is probably the authority on that, if he does’nt what would you do.

  23. dandan says:

GIE would you fancy AW’s potential for sleepless nights. 🙂

Thanks dandan, you half ask a lot of questions, hahaha.

Buy – Poldolski would be very nice

    Sell – I hope nobody.

    Promote- Who ever cuts it

Right hand man – Easy for me, “Stevie Bould, Stevie Bould, Stevie, Stevie Bould, hes got no hair but we dont care, Stevie, Stevie Bould”

Loan players leaving – Those that dont cut it will leave.

Defensive system – Theres nothing wrong with our defence per say, but i would like more protection by firstly keeping the ball better, and secondly by posing more of an attacking threat….in other words teams will be more worried about keeping us out than trying to attack us.

If we keep all our players and add 1 or 2 players of quality, it will be a 3 way fight with the Mancunian clubs for the title. Not bad for a team who seven months ago was written off as useless.

  25. Red Arse says:

    Hi DD,

I suspect Pat Rice will quietly retire at the end of this season, and join Kelsey in enjoying the Spanish idyll. 🙂

My inclination would be to promote from within, with big, bald Bouldy my own first choice. Failing that, and with an eye to the future, after our magnificent maestro Arsene inevitably decides to call it a day, I would go for a top talent, up and coming younger manager to ensure a smooth transition to the new regime, in a few years time.

I would not presume to name anyone for that role, because I am too ignorant to know who has the requisite qualities, but the above principle works in any business. 🙂

  26. evonne says:

Morning Dandan, fine post, thank you
Interesting questions and not one simple answer. Do we need to strengthen the defence? Yes
Is our second goalie good enough? Not sure
Do we need another midfielder? No
Do we need more strikers? Yes

That’s in my opinion, of course.
I guess much will depend on who will leave this summer; there are a few players with only 1 year left on their contract, RvP including

And of course any purchase would have to be viewed from the FFP rules perspective; no point buying over 21s from abroad if we were to exceed the 17 foreign players limit.

I suspect there are going to be inevitable speculations, but the summer buys will be minimal. I h ave a list of the players we were suposed to be biying last summer, will dig it up later

  27. MickyDidIt89 says:

    Fun stuff dandan, thank you.
Stevie Bould obviously. I say obviously because he’s Arsenal, he’s good, and he “got no hair” which makes all men feel good.
It does sound like Podolski might be a done deal, and although not my choice, that’s the additional goal threat sorted out. After that, I wouldn’t buy anyone unless there is something very long term about the Mert injury, in which case Vertonghen would be excellent, as I believe he also plays the DM role.
I think we have plenty of quality in midfield with Coq and Frimpong in the wings, so can’t see the point in M’Vila. Mind you, I’ve only seen him twice, but on both occasions felt that although he did a lot of running about and getting in the way and stuff, I did see many sideways passes.
The usual list of “outs” which will free up spaces for the young guns as well as freeing up cash for Robin.

  28. kelsey says:

    So many scenarios dandan.

I think we will see a lot more leaving than coming in.

My hit list to go out are Vela,Bendtner(character problem, regardless if he will become consistently good)Fabianski (who wants regular first team football) Almunia (contract expired)Squillacci (hopefully) Mannone (possibly) Ramsey(because he gets slated on the blogs 😉 ) and a number of our younger players.

    Mertasacker possibly.

benyahoun may stay if a further one year loan is feasable.

Coming in Podolski or A.N.Other and AW might review the LB spot as poor Gibbs is continually injured

my understanding is that Pat Rice is retiring.

Backroom staff will have to be a yes man to AW

Hold on a minute Micky me old china. Bouldys baldness only makes men with hair feel good. If Bouldy gets the job, Kelsey will probably throw a party. hahahaha.

  30. MickyDidIt89 says:

Clearly it will be a baldy to make Arsene look good. Why do you think Blair appointed Precott and Brown. Women employ only ugly babysitters. Its how people work. I bet you are a bit hairist 🙂

  31. MickyDidIt89 says:

    Jeepers Terry,
That’s the second time in minutes you’ve got in ahead of me 🙂

  32. MickyDidIt89 says:

    Back later.
    Terry speaks for me.

  33. kelsey says:

What’s all this about hair ? jealous 🙂

OK, Andy carroll, Enrique, Fellini and Aso Okotto (sp) haven’t got a patch on me 🙂

    Thank you Micky

On behalf of Sir Micky, i would like to say that none of you have know what your on about. Spouting all this rubbish about tactics and formations as though your some kind of experts…..according to Sir Micky you mugs just aint got a clue.

Sir Micky says cut out all the nonsense and for next season go all out attack . The line up should be this

    Keeper- GiE
    Right Back – Viv Anderson
    Left Back – Bob Mcnab
    Centre Back – Redders

    Sir Micky (Captain)
    Charlie Nicholas
    Ian Wright
    Big Randy
    Terry Mancini

Dont bother trying to disagree with Sir Micky’s line up….you havent got a clue.

  35. TerryDidIt says:

Rubbish line up Micky. Too defensive. Jeepers, its not hard you know.

  36. TerryDidIt says:

I mean, three backs!! Are you having a laugh? Who do you think we are playing, Brasil 70?

  37. goonermichael says:

    Who will we buy?

    Podolski and Vertingwhatever

    Who will we sell?

Bendy, Park, Chamakh, Lansnury and Denilson. Fabianski Squilacci and Almunia will go

    Who will we promote?

    Martinez, Frimpong, Miquel and Miyaichi

Who will be Arsène’s next right hand man?

    Steve Bould

Are we likely to lose loanees and top youngsters if they cannot see first team squad places?

How should we set up and defend?

    No Idea I’m a hairdresser

How will our choices affect where we finnish next season?

We’re going to win the league

I look forward to your comments.

  38. Andrew says:

For me all we need is three signings! PODOLSKI belhanda( always admired the guys technique) and verthoghen with ryo coming back and wilshire aswell it’s vital we find we find balance with our signings.. i reckon chamakh will leave along with park and nicky b. Denilson and Lansbury should also leave( what a shame though!) arshavin might be supremely talented but his attitude stinks. The squid will go ! And miquel hopefully will get a loan move I can also see fabianski demanding football so GK wise we might be left short as almunia has to go swell! Joel Campbell might get his work permit!!

  39. Andrew says:

Would verthoghen settle for a rotational squad player! ATM kos and verm have to be 1st choice

  40. Gooner In Exile says:

    Small points of order:

RA – Song and JD are HGP so if you want some more NHGP signing there’s room (as long as you release a couple of your HGPs)

TMHt/Micky – Thanks for the call up, but my knees are shot as are my ankles (and lungs). 🙂

DD – I most definitely do not want Arsenes job!

  41. goonermichael says:

    Forgot my Manners

Thanks for the post dandan. Love the ones that make us vote or write lists. Hope your wife is on the mend.

  42. Big Raddy says:

What I would like to happen and what will happen are very different.

IMO by far the biggest target of the summer has to be the new contract for RvP.

I fear that Song will be bought by one of the Big 5 Euro clubs. He has been superb this season and his form cannot have gone un-noticed. This being the case there will be a desperate need for a strong DM. No-one British is good enough (much the pity), so M’vila fits the bill.

If they both stay and we have signed Podolski then I see no-one coming in. Miquel will get promoted and cover the CB’s.

We could use another DM but the emergence of Frimpong and Coquelin is enough to persuade me they will provide adequate cover.

To be sold? All the normal candidates and Chamakh

  43. For this I would go by one of the most important thing, that is the club’s policy of spending less and also spending on youngsters.
For this i am going with our current team, our youngsters and possible new signings by their roles.

    Goal Keeper
Szczęsny – He is possibly the best we could have over a long period of time.
Fabiański and Almunia are a waste they both should go for sure.
Buy – I really liked the idea of buying a veteran as he would not be very keen on regular first team football and would also be a much better help than any inexperienced youngster.
Possible – Sell two and buy one veteran – Cost – None.

    Central Backs
Vermalean, Kosceilny – Both of them should be our first choice centre backs. They have been great later in the season and a little bit of experience would make them one of the best pair in the world.
Mertesacker and Djourou – One of them could be kept as our 4th choice centre back, my opinion would be to keep Djourou as bot of these men are almost equal at performing and also the sale of Mertesacker would yield us more money than Djourou.
    Squillaci – Sell him.
    Buy – Vertonghen.
    Possible – Sell Mertesacker around 8 million & Squillaci – 2-3 million, Buy Vertonghen – around 11 million – Cost – Zero.

    Left/Right back
Sagna, Gibbs, Santos, Jenkinson – I really do believe we do not need one. There cannot be a better player than Sagna at his position. Gibbs/ Santos also have just come from injuries so they would be good options.
In case if we need a person other than them Coqulien would be good to assist them.

    Midfield –
Song, Arteta, Wilshire, Diaby, Frimpong – First three world class players. Frimpong also is a very promising player .We also have seen Diaby play for 25 mins in the season where he was brilliant. He was very good with creating chances. So again i do not think we need any one here.

    Attacking Midfield –
Rosiscky – This is a place where we need a good player. As we know Rosiscky has played very well recently but we can not be assured of the whole season with him.
Ramsey – I think he should be loaned out for another year. I know many people would agree to this but i think he really needs to work hard. And at this young age it would not be an issue.
Eden Hazard – Even though i am not a big fan of him but he is a great player also our manager has an eye on him.
AOC – Promote AOC to this position in small games as we all have seen his eye for key passes is great.
    Cost – 20 million

Walcott, Gervinhio, Miachi – All of these are very promising players. Would get better and better as season progresses.
Arshavin – No point keeping him.
    Buy – Junior Hoilett.
Cost – Hoilett – free and Arshavin may yield us around 5-6 million.

Van Persie – Retain him at any cost, even if he wants double the salary.
Chamakh, Bendtner – Sell both of them we really do not need them.
Park – If he stays, he is good for our third choice striker as we have seen the season progress our second choice also has got very less game time so it is ok to keep Park as a third choice.
Buy – Podolski – He is very good at his price.
Cost – We could get around 10-11 million for both Chamakh and Bendtner.
Polodski would also cost us around 10-11 million. so Cost again is Zero.

The total cost for all of these transfers would be only 15 – 16 million. And with so many promising youngsters it would be a team to compete for the league.
Also Podolski can play in the wings when needed.
Arteta can play as an attacking midfielder as he use to with everton.
AOC also can play at wings and Mid-field.

We would surely have a great team with this i suppose.
Please let me know what you all say.

    Happy Friday Gunners. 🙂

  44. dandan says:

good shout thank you Harshil: I dont see Hazard joining, think he would be a trifle rich for AW in that position. The Ramsey debate is interesting as I would rather he stayed and earnt us points than go and earn them for someone else on loan. As for cost the buying price is only the tip of the iceburgh and we dont know what wages they would demand.

  45. kelsey says:

Not one single person has mentioned Park, until the comment befor last. Ooops.

  46. Slimgingergooner says:

I think Vertonghen is a great option. From what I’ve seen he looks technically gifted and can play CB, LB and DM. He’s also plays left CB and would give good balance to the side. If Vermaelen gets a knock then having a natural left sided centre half is so much better than shifting a right sided CB across. It may seem like a small detail but some players can only play one side. Also, with both Frimps and Coq out injured, he would give a much more experienced cover to Song. The lad looks like he could be a threat on set pieces aswell. Fingers crossed

  47. Red Arse says:

    Kelsey, you rascal!

I know that my comments are anathema to anyone living it up in Espagne, but if you refer to my 11:46, I think you will see that this Americano person did mention Park! 🙂

  48. evonne says:

    GM – ‘No idea, I’m a hairdresser’ – comment of the week 🙂 🙂

  49. oz gunner says:

Great post Dandan. I love this type of thing!

    Who will we buy?
Podolski, Alonso (if Arsene pays out that extra million or two), Dempsey, and Vert if BFG isn’t fit enough.

I don’t think we need M’vila, we already have coquelin and frimpong waiting in the wings.

    Who will we sell?
    The usual suspects

    Who will we promote?
Ryo, Miquel, Lansbury (hopefully), and Campbell

Who will be Arsène’s next right hand man?

Are we likely to lose loanees and top youngsters if they cannot see first team squad places?
Possibly, I don’t think players like Coquelin will stick around unless they see more game time

How should we set up and defend?
Just like we have done recently, we have been defending a lot better. I still would like Keown to come in and tighten things up a bit

How will our choices affect where we finish next season?
EPL title, FA Cup, Final Champions League (i don’t see why not!)

  50. oz gunner says:

As for keeper i have no confidence in fabianski. I think he is a good keeper but he is a confidence keeper that needs game time, he can’t be trusted to play bit parts and be reliable.

I’d prefer mark schwarzer to come in as a backup. He is sold and very reliable, experienced and could double for keeper coaching role.

    @ Micky

    trusting Terry your brave haha.

  51. Big Raddy says:

    Harshil. Good comment.

I don’t see Hazard at Arsenal.. There has to be a place in the team for O-C and with the wealth of talent we have on the wings plus the return of Wilshere, I cannot see AW breaking the bank for Hazard.

kelsey. Why would we be thinking about Park? Wenger doesn’t.

Oz. I hope Coquelin gets game time because he will surely want out if he cannot get ahead of Ramsey.

  52. RockyLives says:

    One more point about Ramsey…

    Just kidding 🙂

Dandan – great stuff which has prompted a range of fascinating answers.

I remember when we signed David Seaman and it was quite a surprise. Most of us had been perfectly happy with John Lukic, who was certainly one of the top four or five GKs in the league at that time.

But George Graham didn’t want “good”, he wanted the best. Of course Seaman turned out to be arguably the best we’ve ever had.

I wonder if that’s behind the talk of the BFG going and Vertonghen coming in? I really rate the BFG, but is he the absolute best we can get in that position? Probably not.

Similarly, TR7 has had a fantastic run of late, but if we were to let him go and bring in a Hazard or Goetze would that be the wrong thing to do?

I don’t know the answer, I’m just posing the questions.

If Podolski is as much of a done deal as the reports suggest, then I imagine that one of Park and Chamakh will be going (possibly both).

Like some of you, I would like us to get a veteran GK as cover if Fabianski demands a move. As number 2 we could guarantee the veteran a start in all the domestic cup games, plus any opportunities he would get with injuries to Szczesny.

Beyond that I don’t really see the need to reinforce unless it’s “super quality” in the manner of Seaman for Lukic.

I’m also not so sure why people are convinced that someone like Squiullaci will go. He’s probably on a very good wage which most other clubs will not match, so I see him staying put. The same could apply to Chamakh and Park, regardless of what we all think of them.

As for AW’s assistant… why not Stevie Bould? I always like the idea of Arsenal continuity and Bouldy certainly represents that.

  53. SharkeySure says:

    Cheers DanDan

My main fears are over the young players who I have yet to see the best of, with the two standouts being Le Coq and Miquel, who both look like truly tremendous prospects. Add to that the likes of Afobe, Ozyakup, Gnabry, Aneke et al…

To be fair I cannot think of a single player who we’ve let go that I lose any sleep over.

Jose Antonio Reyes* is the one exception, and I’ve missed out Miyaichi as there’s no chance of him being allowed to leave.

    * First person to tell me that Reyes was a poor player or that he got kicked out of the PL by the Nevilles wins the prize of a hefty kick in the bollox* !! Females win a cold stare. Herms get one of each 😉

  54. SharkeySure says:

Corky – Good point about Seaman for Lukic, and add Sagna for Lauren.

Sagna’s transfer dragged on a bit…and I doubted it the whole way until he appeared in an Arsenal shirt with a dodgy barnet, which I have since grown to love.

No Gervinho…theres nothing to be read into that for you.

  55. Red Arse says:

Reyes was a poor player …………………………………..never had two pesos to rub together……………………..great footballer tho! 🙂

  56. oz gunner says:

    @ Sharkey

Sh*t i remember the game Reyes got kicked out of the EPL by the nevilles like it was yesterday! It’s a shame though because he didn’t really settle in so i think he was a poor player for us!

  57. SharkeySure says:

If I knew Peaches Mum was having an afternon nap I’d really tell you two planks what I need to. As it is I’ll have to pay you both a visit to ‘express myself’ in the required manner !!

Bloody Ozzies and Planks oops I mean Yanks….Grrrrrrr !

  58. Red Arse says:

Oz, now you have put SS in a dither. Do you get the kick in the bowlox, a cold stare or one of each for being a hermaphrodite. (In Oz that would be a girl with a todger mate!! 🙂

    Don’t tell him…………………….make him guess!! 🙂

  59. Red Arse says:

That’s a bit unkind, son of FIL. I said Reyes was a great footballer!! 🙂

Of course you are right about Oz – go and do your duty!! 🙂

hahahahaha, what does the Herm get first Sharkey, the kick or the stare? Personaly, it there anything like “Pete the Builder” also known as “Pete the Tranny”, it would be me worrying about my balls…in more ways than one.

  61. Slimgingergooner says:

I would’ve loved at least one more season from Flamini. He was truly outstanding in his last year and suited the English game down to the ground. He was a rich man’s Lee Cattermole! Just a shame he was only performing for a big move otherwise he could’ve been a real gem.

  62. Red Arse says:

I thought the ‘award winning’ Cornwallian was back on AA.

But he has been conspicuous with his absence, and now I a fear the worst……………..he fancies those bullocks more than us!! 😦

  63. oz gunner says:

haha Sharkespeare, the Ghost of GLIC made me type it! He may have died via lesbian thigh strangulation but he still floats about the halls!

Plus any physicality towards my man part would enrage the Mrs, she has already enquired about freezing my Underpants Navy!

  64. oz gunner says:

Don’t mention his name Slim, he still makes me wonder what could have been had he stuck around!

Think your right there Redders. I might have to recount my experience with Pete the Tranny to entice him back on. hahahaha

One last thing on this matter, before i get myself in trouble. If Nasri wanted medals, why did he leave us to join City.? I wrote him a realy nice letter in the summer explaining that if he wanted to win things, there was a local Herm beauty contest in Bounds Green in which ime sure he would have won. His only competition would have been “Pete the Tranny” whos as ugly as sin, and John Terry.

  66. jnyc says:

Vertonghen isnt coming. U guys need to grow up. We aint sellin merts, cant sell djourou for much. And we wont pay alot for a versatile back up. I would love to have him, but forget it, and i will hate to see him at any rival.
i think podolski is coming, but would like one more attacker, but if we have to sacrifice that for a cam i would take it. Doesnt need to be biggest name, but our team needs great quality in that position, and rosicky is an injury threat. So a quality cam to take at least half if not most of the minutes. Marvin martin ? Ramsey should stay as late
sub and energy posession guy, not creative. Yossi for the
same if possible he would accept the role and lack of playing time

    playing time.
assuming we sign song, walcott rvp( only to keep this all simple) promote ryo coquelin and bartley or miquel.

  67. RockyLives says:

    haha jnyc
You picked the wrong site to tell people to grow up.
Half our regulars were old when Moses was a lad… 🙂

  68. jnyc says:

And mvila sounds great, as a luxury if song stays, absolute neccessity if song goes. In both cases it would should arsene is DEAD ASS SERIOUS about titles. Because coquelin isnt ready or close to ready to man that position for a contending club, and frimpong is much farther off with a real injury problem at his young age.
im surprised at people sayng coq should play alot , because theyre the same ones who criticized us playing kids too much. He should work in slowly in carling cup matches and late sub when we lead. Maybe something in a couple years.

  69. Red Arse says:

    Rocky, 🙂

And the other regular is Moses! 🙂

  70. SharkeySure says:

    “when Moses was a lad….”

….and threw sticks for pet dinosaurs to fetch….

  71. SharkeySure says:

Whilst I ordinarily agree re Flamini, I never saw him playing that well for AC. That mioght be due to the tempo or refereeing in anew League….or maybe not.

I’ve often wondered how so many players return to (or become) a shadow of their former self when they take off an Arsenal shirt. I guess its the ‘freedom to play’ that Arsene allows that makes a big difference.

I should write a post about it…just for Chary 😉

    Dear Chary….

How shit is Hleb these days..?? Who does he even play for. Discuss. I await your comments with bated breath.

If one of the mods would be kind enough to re-paste that as tomorrows headline post, I’d be grateful

  72. Strus says:

    Who will we buy?
Podolski and Wenger only knows who else

    Who will we sell?
Arsahvin, Chamakh, Bendtner, Squilacci, Lansbury, Botehlo, Vela, Shea
Almunia, Murphy, Hoyte will be released. Fabianski or Manonne will go

    Who will we promote?
Afobe, maybe Miyaichi , Campbell( if he gets work permit this time) Miquel(if SS18 goes), Martinez

Who will be Arsène’s next right hand man?
    Dragan Stojković

Are we likely to lose loanees and top youngsters if they cannot see first team squad places?
They will get first team places amny times if they will be good enough to play. When not, why bother? Let them go to find another club.

How should we set up and defend?
Wenger and his staff knows, I am no football coach at all

How will our choices affect where we finnish next season?
If we retain first 14-15 [it means van Persie a nd Walcott this time have to sign new contract, and no one will play Fabregas], we will compete for 14 title

  73. SharkeySure says:

Re ‘Pete – with a bit of both’ – the answer is steely glare for distraction, followed by swift kick to knackers, and a punch in the tits..??

(The spirit of GLIC lives on ??)

  74. barumgooner says:

Great post DD. So many questions. I think Bould for no2. Podolski and Vertongen look very likely to come in, as will imo M’Vila and probably Benny on a permanent basis. As has been said we do need a new back-up keeper as the others are gona go. Greens a possibility. Outs…. AA, Cham, Park, Vela, Denilsen, NikB, Keepers, JD, Lansbury(with regret), and I think we may lose Song. Pingpong Jack and Ryo back with LeCoq, Afobe, Miquel and Yennaris up to first team. Diaby to either retire or become the new club mascot.

  75. barumgooner says:

And yes we will lose younsters but we only really seem to develop left-backs or central midfielders anyway.

  76. barumgooner says:

Robins going nowhere by the way. Arsenal to the core !

  77. goonermichael says:

A bit late but here is Ramsay’s performance against Wolves

  78. kelsey says:

    Well done dandan.

It’s all a bit of guesswork, but are the club really going to stray away from previous years since the move.

There is no question that we pay players very well and some are hits and others not.
To accomadate new wage demands from possibly RVP,Walcott and Song I expect a bigger clear out than anything else.We may not recoup a lot on transfer fees but we will in wages.

  79. Big Raddy says:

Jnyc. Interesting comment though I think it a little insulting to tell people to “grow up” because they want Vert. Is he any less or more likely to come than Marvin or M’vila?

  80. Big Raddy says:

Strus. I think you have predicted our summer!

  81. MickyDidIt89 says:

Very disappointed in your earlier comment. So what if your knees and things are knackered and your lungs are filled with tar. Frankly, its a bit of a Me Me Me comment. Your a bloody goalkeeper for goodness sake. I suggest you man up, kit up and get out there.

  82. MickyDidIt89 says:

In fact, goalkeepers are a bit like drummers really. Moan moan moan. Usual advice: stay at the back, do your job and belt up.

  83. Oh dear, no-one has offered anything for tomorrow eeeeek.

Anyone got any thoughts they want to share for tomorrows post ……….

  84. evonne says:

Dragan Stojkovic – i have heard his name linked to AW on many occassions; it might be true

Micky @ 6:16 – I disagree, I think GiE is much needed during pre-match marches to the Ems, that’s his role and i have not heard one rumour of his replacement during the summer transfer

  85. LB says:

Does anyone know with some sort of authority what position Podolski plays?

  86. barumgooner says:

    second-fiddle to RVP !

  87. kelsey says:

Is there anyone on here with some sort of authority 🙂 ?

  88. Rasp says:

I believe Podolski can play centrally or to the left of a front 3 – he sometimes plays on the right too so he can cut in and use his ‘cannon of a left foot’. I think his right is not quite a chocolate leg but is nowhere near the quality of his left peg. He is a decent header of the ball and can act as target man and hold the ball up.

  89. dandan says:

Kelsey I have loads, when the wife gives it to me. 🙂

  90. Rasp says:

Incidentally, time is ticking away and we have no post for tomorrow 😦

  91. Big Raddy says:

I am sure I can knock up 400 words and a pic.

  92. VCC says:

dandan 7:18……..Me too. OOoooooohhhhh the power

  93. VCC says:

    gm 1:04.

How should we set up and defend? = answer ….No idea “I’m a hairdresser”

One of the funniest comments I have read on hear. I’m sorry I am going to run the gauntlet and temp being banned on here but thats F—ing funny.

You have made my night. God bless you.

  94. RockyLives says:

You can always rely on GM for the best deadpan one liners.

Although I notice we haven’t had one of your jokes for a while…

  95. chas says:

    Nice post, dandan.

Who’s coming (to dinner) – Sidney Poitier.

Who’s going (to be the next England manager) – Sir Harry of Redknapp.

    Who’s staying (positive) – me.

I’ve never seen Vertonghen and M’Vila play. Are they any good?

  96. kelsey says:

Ok the latest on Dempsey hot off the press.

2 PL clubs have made a formal bid for him and his words were “I am open to a move” but when pressed by my son if it was us , he just smiled.

I am purely guessing but the other club maybe Spurs with Modric possibly leaving and in our case I understand Chelsea want Yossi back.

These are things as they stand.

  97. Big Raddy says:

chas. If you – the master of the internet – can’t get info on them, who can?

    Rasp. Post in drafts.

  98. Big Raddy says:

kelsey. If we wouldn’t meet Dempsey’s wage demands last summer (an assumption), why would we this year now he is a year older?

I can see him at Everton.

  99. kelsey says:

Raddy, we have made a bid for him not once but twice..

he won’t go to Everton, want a bet 🙂

  100. Big Raddy says:

No. I don’t bet with Champions.

  101. Gooner In Exile says:

Actually Dempsey to Spurs makes sense as they will have an Adebayor shaped hole at the head of their attack. My guess is Dempsey would demand half of whatever Adebayor seeks and with new stadia planned (hoped? Winged and prayed for?) they need to count every penny. And Saha is injury prone (and only semi permanent?)

I assume Chelsea will want Yossi back to try and flog him for some cash to help in their FFP viability. May be worth a cheeky £2m bid with only 1 year left.

  102. kelsey says:

Arsene Wenger on Jack Wilshere’s progress: “He’s making slow progress. I will not take any risk with him.” #Arsenal @BBCSport_Sewell 6 hours ago

Are they not telling us something

Thanks for the info Kelsey. My question is though, does any one think hes good enough for The Arsenal?. Dont get me wrong, hes a fine player and is having a great season, but its a different ball game turning out for the greatest club in the world.

  104. dandan says:

GIE I suspect Chelsea realize they goofed letting Yossi come to us, without him we would have been in the brown stuff. Now they will keep him as a squaddie or sell him elsewhere, don’t think it will be a top club either, Somewhere like Fulham where he can play every week would tempt him I guess

  105. dandan says:

Kelsey, you see more conspiracys than MI5 🙂

  106. Gooner In Exile says:

Yes Kelsey, they’re not telling us that he is actually fit but he won’t be going to Euros so he might get a cameo against WBA and pull up with a tweak.

  107. Big Raddy says:

Bennie’s winning goal at Villa Park could be costly for Chelsea 😀

  108. Slimgingergooner says:

Re Jack, what they are not telling us is that Wenger wants him nowhere near Euro 2012! I have a feeling the same might be said about the Ox. Funny how his game time has been considerably reduced since talk of the England squad emerged.

  109. SharkeySure says:

If we were fifth in the table I wonder how that might affect Jack’s recovery ??

  110. chas says:

I was making an unsubtle point that those two have been touted by LG aficionados for a few weeks having read their agents’ publicity shots on goal.com for a couple of weeks now.
It makes me wonder how many have actually seen them play?
SGG, obviously, as he watches as much football from around the world as Wenger. 🙂

  111. 26may1989 says:

Hello there, am late to the party as usual.

I have little to add to the responses of others to DD’s questionnaire, so I’ll limit myself (thank Christ for that, say you…).

Vertonghen: Personally, I like Mert and feel he’s a good 3rd choice CB and offers a type of calm play that others don’t. I don’t really see a need to bring someone in at CB; but then I also didn’t get it when Wenger signed Sagna to play RB ahead of Eboue, so what do I know? But if we were to sign Vertonghen, I’d still be happy, he’s good quality and clearly likes us, having had TV bigging us up. But it would logically put Mert’s position under threat, and there is also the impact on our two very talented young CBs, Miquel and Bartley.

Dempsey: Like others, I’ve always admired Dempsey, a proper player. One thing I really like about American players is just how focused and professional they are: McBride, Donovan, Friedel, Howard, Hahnermann and Dempsey himself; no nonsense from any of them, just really good pros. Interesting inside knowledge from the Kelsey family, but would Dempsey join us? He’d get less match time, but then he’d also get a go at CL football (crossed fingers) and he may have looked at what Arteta has achieved and back himself to get his fair share of time. But Spurs might be almost as attractive.

Keepers: Fabs will definitely go, as will Almunia, but I would push Mannone forward as candidate for back-up, with young Martinez behind him.

Benayoun: If he can be convinced to stay, and Chelsea to sell him to us, I’d be keen for him to stick around, just love the guy’s attitude and energy.

Selling: We have plenty of players we need to move on, for their sake and ours. Loaning them all out doesn’t deal with all the problems, as it still blocks out future finances in terms of covering salaries post-dating the loan.

Couple of suggestions for recruits: There’s nothing to suggest these could actually happen, but having suggested these names in previous weeks, I would reiterate a couple of left-field ideas: Victor Moses, who has had a really excellent run over the past few months and has talent; and Giuseppe Rossi, a very talented striker, whose team, Villarreal, have had a very poor season – the trouble is Rossi is injured, and won’t be back from surgery before September, which pretty much rules this one out. But I still say someone, one day, will snap him up and will enjoy the benefits. Would love us to try and steal Ben Arfa too!

Well done to Red Arse for trying to work out how the home grown rules would impact on all this; makes the whole thing very complex.

Get the two or three signings in that we need, especially on the attacking side, and I really do think we’ll be fighting toe-to-toe with the Manc clubs, and possibly a resurgent Spurs, for the title next year.

  112. 26may1989 says:

BTW, I looked it up and Hleb has just joined a midtable side in southern Russia, Krylia Sovetov Samara, his contract with Barca having been terminated by mutual consent. How he must rue the day he left us.

  113. SharkeySure says:

Cheers 2*13…I had Sagna down as Laurens replacement whic he kind of was, but it was after a pretty impressive season from Eboue at RB.

Sagna’s signing seemed to make no sense at the the time…and then he played his first game !!!

  114. RockyLives says:

    A resurgent Spuds?
If they don’t make top 4 I reckon they’re done for a few years.
And if they go ahead with a new stadium, relegation will beckon.

  115. oz gunner says:

If we somehow manage to keep Yossi for a year or two more then is there really a need for Dempsey in our squad? I mean it can’t hurt but I could think of a lot more players I’d rather see come in over him. In saying that I do think his finishing is top notch

  116. 26may1989 says:

You might be right Rocky, esp if Spurs can’t keep all of Bale, van der Vaart and Modric, and don’t get the latter two playing again. And without Adebayor, they’ll be weaker up front. But they’ve managed their finances well in the last couple of years, having made massive trading profits last summer (easily more than us, even with our sales of Cesc and Nasri). I think we’ll see more from them yet.

All that said, am still smiling inwardly at Henry Winter’s comments from six months ago, that the only Arse player who’d get into the Spurs side would be RvP. Try Szczesny, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Sagna, Song, Arteta, Walcott, Rosicky and the Ox, Henry. What a wally.

  117. Red Arse says:

    Morning people! 🙂

Up you get — especially you Didits, your cousins UsetoDidits, and your older relatives; DoneDidits, it is at least an hour late for milking the bullocks! 🙂

  118. Gooner In Exile says:

Morning RA. I’m guessing we are all Evertonians today?

  119. MickyDidIt89 says:

    “Milking the bullocks”.
That’s low. That’s disgusting. It’ll be referring to UncleJohnDidIt then.

  120. MickyDidIt89 says:

And Chavs tomorrow GiE. Nasty thought, but we,ll have to live with it.

  121. evonne says:

GiE – nope, me is red, always

  122. Red Arse says:

GIE, 🙂 I have definitely developed a taste for toffee today!!! 🙂

Micky, I thought, at this hour, you might be out diving with your spear and molesting the local fish stocks. 🙂

  123. MickyDidIt89 says:

I did take my rubber suit to Ireland last week, but as for the fishing, I also took my fishnets and caught nothing but crabs.

  124. evonne says:

    RA 🙂

Mancini on the news, he looks terrible, a complete mess. He is too nice a guy to do such Shitty job
He said that they have it easy now – it doesn’t matter if they win, draw or lose. I wonder if he means that or is he playing mind games? But I’d say he is genuinde, lovely and honest man

  125. MickyDidIt89 says:

Apart from disliking Spurs and Pool in equal measure, there is the prospect of the post match interviews with the losing managers, and oh how I want those to be with Kenny and Harry.

  126. evonne says:

Micky – really? I always catch tonns of fish in Eire. One cast with the rod and pull 6-8 mackerel hanging of it.

Now the Syrians are doing the Poznan too

  127. MickyDidIt89 says:

He is simply uncomfortable as his thong is too tight. Always remember that all Italian men wear thongs. There are no exceptions to this rule.

  128. MickyDidIt89 says:

I fell out with fishing rods ages ago. Always getting tangled up, and I hate the thought of leaving broken line and fish hooks in the sea.

  129. Red Arse says:

    Micky, 🙂

    Morning, Evonne, 🙂

  130. evonne says:

Micky – and why did you think I liked Mancini 🙂

    Morning RA

  131. Slimgingergooner says:

    Morning all.

Just one last point about the possible Vertonghen/Mertersacker (who would win in scrabble!?) swap, at the moment we have 3 right sided CB in Merts, Kozzer and Djourou compared to 1 left sided in Verm. If Vertonghen came as a swap then that would even this out and give us a better balance (I’ve excluded Miguel and Bartley obviously).

Also, I was thinking about the Winger and AM situation, and with Miyaichi looking like the dogs nuts, I feel we may only need Dempsey in the squad. We will have enough wide players available. If I was Wenger I would try and sign someone early, as appears the case at the moment according to Kelsey, and use Benny as a fallback. We have been ok for midfield numbers this season even without Jack and Diaby, so the return of those 2 would leave us with more than enough cover. The only question is, is Dempsey better than we have right now? If so, sign him up. Personally, Rosicky suits our game and has looked world class recently, so give him a chance.

  132. evonne says:

Jeez, I have just a horrid image of Fergie and Wenger wearing thongs ….I hope Peaches is still in bed
    Micky started it anyway!

  133. Slimgingergooner says:

2 old men’s wrinkly arses are not was is needed on a Saturday morning!

How would you know who’s is who’s?

Fergies is the one with Howard Webbs lipstick on!

  134. MickyDidIt89 says:

All good thinking. Who, out of our present squad, do you think AW has inked in for the long term AM/Rosicky role?
This is something over which Arsene and I may fall out.

  135. Big Raddy says:

SGG. That is a disgusting image to start the day 🙂

    Come on you Toffees.

Micky. It never occurred to me that fisherman pollute. Shame on them. Tax the bastards

  136. Slimgingergooner says:

Surely it’s Jacks if he wants it?

If Jack prefers a deeper position, or god forbid he’s crocked, then I suppose at the moment it’s Ramsey, Diaby or maybe Ox. Realistically, I think we would get a signing in if it meant it had to be one of the latter 3 as they aren’t ready just yet.

  137. MickyDidIt89 says:

Oh nasty thoughts. My money says Fergie has one of those girlie tatts just above his ass, which roughly translates as absolutely anybody can have sex with me as long as they buy me eight pints of lager and a bacardi.

  138. MickyDidIt89 says:

Its really horrible pollution as it can get inside healthy creatures.

  139. Big Raddy says:

Didit. When AW played Wilshire as a covering DM he stated Wilshere would become our AM, and he was playing there purely to get experience for the future.

Such is the talent of the lad that he looks a natural sitting deep. If one Youtube’s Jack he has scored some crackers in the reserves and youth teams.

  140. Big Raddy says:

    I am cheaper than 8 pints and a bacardi…..

  141. Slimgingergooner says:

I’m assuming everyone wants Everton v Chelsea final?

I predicted a Liverpool FA Cup win on one of the blogs last month but would still prefer Everton to win it!

The modern day Liverpool disgust me. As for fuc-King Kenny, that guy lost touch years ago and some of his press conferences have been laughable.

  142. Slimgingergooner says:

Fergies got a tramp stamp! Ha!

Wouldn’t that be amazing sung by 60000 Gooners!!!

Of the 3 remaining trophies to be decided (that we competed in) I am in a horrible situation of there being few teams I can back.

I guess an FA Cup final of Everton v Chelsea is a start, but then Everton have to win it.

The Champions League id like to see Bayern win it.

And the Premier League I want neither to win it.

Maybe I will put a bet on all the others as some kind of jinx effect.

Has Raddy come through with a tip in the National yet?

  144. Gooner In Exile says:

Talking of new songs I have one for Arteta as he (as far as I’m aware) doesn’t have a song yet…..so based on Vieras tune.

    Arteta woooaahwoah
    Arteta wooaaahwoah
    He pops up everywhere
He has a hard man stare
    Arteta wooaaahwoah

  145. Big Raddy says:

The whole Suarez affair has tarnished Liverpool reputation.

I had respect for them thanks to the wonder teams of the late 70’s/80’s but that has dissipated. They have become a sanctimonious parody of the great club Shankly developed.

I really like your conspiracy theory about AW not playing Jack or Ox to keep them from playing this summer. He knows we have two world class players on our hands who will be instrumental in our monumental successes next season.

    Re Grand NAtional.

My tips would be ….. Sunninghill Boy and West End Rocker.

Given my past I would have a tipple on West End Racker, though my connections are suggesting SH Boy.

But as this race is a lottery don’t be too bullish

    Good morning

My three against the field are:

    Seabass 16/1
    On his Own 14/1
    Cappableu 14/1

  151. kelsey says:

As a neutral I would really like Moyes to win a trophy and on current form Everton would be the choice, but something tells me that Liverpool could well be outplayed during most of the game but will nick it by the odd goal.

Three weeks ago I would have gone for Spurs, but their fluency is not what it was and one could say the same of Chelsea but to me they have more options than Spurs to change a game, so its Chelsea for me, again by the odd goal.

  152. Slimgingergooner says:

Ive gone for West End Rocker, but i hear he prefers the soft ground so im currently in a grass skirt dancing round the garden with my own tramp stamp on show!!!

    Fingers crossed

  153. Gooner In Exile says:

BR I agree re Liverpool, they lost their way during the mid to late 90s and it has worsened. They could have handled the Suarez affair so much better. I see they have sacked a Sports Scientist and Commoli (Chief Exec) this week too. I think the Chairman is fearful of sacking Dalglish (surely he chose the signed underperforming players signed by Commoli) but a defeat at Wembley today could give them ammunition to do so.

  154. Morning all

    New Post …………….

  155. sam says:

sell mertersacker and park what do they do wrong?
maybe park could leave for not getting any game but hoping arsene will get rid of mertesacker for vertonghen it seems to me like most people still don’t understand arsene wenger at all. mertesacker is our third CB and at the moment there are 3 people battling for number 4 CB position at arsenal. djourou, miquel and bartley. if you think arsene wenger will overlook all of them and bring in a new expensive defender you don’t know what you are talking about. this is just another cahill/ samba illusions that will never materialise. he already said he will spend wisely meaning you should rule out any big money signing, unless ajax are going to sell him for peanut like podolski
