DLLLLLL
No, I haven’t just mashed my forehead onto my keyboard, the above letters are the recent record of tonight’s opponents Wolves since they sacked Mick McCarthy. Drew one, lost six, a run of matches that sees them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League with a measly 22 points, six away from nearest relegation battlers Wigan.
Each club to their own, and we’ve enough to keep us occupied, but I think it was folly to sack McCarthy, after the transfer window and seeing as the players were playing for him, he could have kept them safe yet again. What was even worse was that they replaced him with Terry Connor – a man with no experience of managing a team at senior level or any other level at that. Talk about throwing the poor man to the wolves (not pardoning the pun).
Wolves have been inept to say the least since McCarthy departed. They have no shape, no belief, nothing. Since the commendable 2-2 draw against Newcastle they have been hammered by Fulham and the Mancs, beaten comfortably by Blackburn and didn’t have the nerve to get results against Norwich, Bolton or Stoke. To add misery to their already massive mountain of misery, they have the insufferable Roger Johnson as Captain – the same one that sees fit to turn up to training drunk and pick a fight with their ‘keeper Wayne Hennessey who has had some fine games for Wolves.
As it is, I don’t see Wolves causing us much trouble tonight. A draw isn’t much good to them, so they will have to try and come at us some bit. They don’t have the nerve to defend for the 90mins either, so the only ones that can beat us are ourselves. We were fantastic against Man City on Sunday – Sagna, Song and Arteta particularly impressed, as did RvP who was unlucky that Kompany was the one good Man City player to play well on the day. We need to keep this going into tonight’s game and not get complacent. With the Spuds (and Chelsea) having the FA Cup next (and after losing to Norwich), we have a real chance to put some daylight between us in 3rd and everyone else. A good night’s shift should see us grab three points.
Gibbs is out with a groin injury (or groin fatigue as AW likes to put it – draw your own conclusions), and Koscielny is suspended. Santos will come in for Gibbs which is no bad thing – he will torment Wolves down the flank, as will Sagna down the right – and, is it just me, or are Bac’s crosses getting better and better? Wenger has said that Squillaci and Park will come into the squad but probably won’t get their arses off the bench (AW didn’t say the last bit).
Expected starting XI:
We need to win this game so no “resting” of Rosicky or van Persie, they can rest themselves all they want at the Euros. I’d give Yossi another start because he works so hard off the ball, and with Santos going up and down the wing like a mad man, he would provide good cover and has more experience than the Ox or Theo in doing that kind of job. I do expect the Ox to come off the bench with about 20mins to go.
I’m calling a 3-0 win for the good guys.
Before I let ye go debate the game, a shout-out to Tomas Rosicky for winning the Arsenal Player of the Month. He has been immense in recent weeks, this is the guy we signed from Dortmund, the player I’ve been harping on about that is so needed in the Arsenal squad.
Oh, and did you also know that you can do this and its all fine and dandy?
Nice one FA ….

Arsenal News 24/7

Fantastic, Irish.
I wish I had a tiny fraction of your linguistic ability.
‘It mightn’t be much’, my ar*e. 🙂
So poor Kieran has groin fatigue.
A bit like Terry after our recent fine run of results, I suppose. 🙂
Irish if I was 40 years younger I would come over there and elope with you!!!, ye gods a women who not only knows her football, but can write about it with style and panache. (We would have to discuss the Gaga bit but I guess I can’t have it all) 🙂
Not much to add to your excellent review except I expect RVP to get back into scoring mode and Theo to run riot, apart from that just another boring day at the office beckons. 🙂
Irish, 🙂
When I saw the Post had been written by you I knew it would be good, and it was. Thank you.
By the way, as a celebrity gooner, this guy was apparently seen doing the Poznan at the Emirates on Sunday. 🙂
http://bit.ly/IgjFBp
Nice post Irish, I agree 100% with your starting line-up.
With the persistent and recurring injuries to Diaby I think Benayoun has earned not just a place in the team but a contract for the next couple of seasons. Sign him up Arsene!
Is the FA completely stuffed to the gills with numpties? Not only does Balottelli get away with it but they uphold the red card that Derry got for a non-existant foul on Young. Oh! Wait a minute though, doesn’t Young play for Manure?
Fantastic post Irish
Wengerball 4.0 with a purpose of heralding the beginning of a glorious era of trophy haul in the history of the club at Ashburton’s grove is finally taking the right shape to achieve. Wengerball 3.0 served its purpose-to play the fluid passing football to attract fans to the newly built stadium with minimal fund while offsetting the debts of building the new stadium. Right now, the wolves game is just one of the games that must proof the readiness of Wengerball 4.0 to achieve its purpose in the coming season. This is to a great season ahead. Up gunners to all. Thanks
Evonne,
You naughty girl. I fix my computer’s shenanigans and get back to find you had set me a word puzzle! 🙂
At 8:02 you said;
— “RA – here is something for you, in case you didn’t already know:
‘Stewardesses’ is the longest word typed with only the left hand.
And ‘lollipop’is the longest word typed with your right hand.
No word in the English language rhymes with
month, orange, silver, or purple.”
Wow! I did not know about the left hand keyboard or right hand keyboard longest words. Thank you I shall remember that.
Technically, you will find many people would agree with the viewpoint that there are no rhyming words for ‘purple’, ‘orange’, silver or ‘month’. It was what I was taught too.
However — 🙂 There are a couple that rhyme with ‘silver’, one of which is an old English word (sometimes still used in Yorkshire for example) for a new born lamb — called a chilver. [True]
GIE suggested that turtle rhymes with purple, but that would not meet the rhyming rules that require words to match in all parts for sound, syllable stress and vowels.
However — 🙂 There are a couple of words that rhyme with purple; ‘curple’ is a word meaning a horse’s arse (or rump to be polite) 🙂 Then there is the word ‘hirple’ which means ‘to limp’ or ‘hobble’. [True]
How am I doing? 🙂
It has become accepted that the onomatopoeic word ‘umph’ or ‘humph’ meaning ‘to move’ can be used as an acceptable rhyme with ‘month’.
Finally, and the most difficult one is the word ‘orange’ but I used to read Winnie-the-Pooh and I remember that he and his great friend Eeyore had a favourite word, which was ‘eeyorange’, because he loved them so much, so I guess that might count.
Bet you wished you had not asked me now.
Zere are vays of makin zee vorld go round!! 🙂
If my computer throws this into the aether I will be officially cross!! 🙂
Norfolk,
I understand Benny has been told he will be returned to Chelsea at the end of the season. [The usual caveats apply – until Arsenal officially announce it etc, etc.]
Ha! Brilliant post Irish. Cheered me up no end!
I think Gerv or Ox might get a start tonight, and maybe even the man of the moment Ramsey. It was a tough shift on Sunday against the Mancs, and one or two sets of fresh legs might not be a bad thing. On the other hand though, we could look to wrap the game up by half time and make changes then. We will see.
As for the old codgers at the FA, they are an absolute disgrace and completely out of touch with the modern game (a bit like Kenny Dalglish, but I will save that rant for another day!). They are a hinderence to this countries football teams.
How can they justify making England travel 900 miles for each of their Euro 2012 games when they could’ve waited until after the draw to book accommodation, making Chelsea, and others before them, play a stupid amount of domestic fixtures so close to a massive CL semi final, and allowing the kind of refereeing decisions that could put a players career in jeapordy.
They need to grow a spine and ban the official who thought that decision was acceptable. They also need to hand out punishments to officials who give shocking decisions that could cost the likes of Wigan and QPR premier league football next season, instead of moaning at the managers for having a go in a post match press conference. There an embarrassment.
Brilliant Irish and I think you have the team down to a tee,
however we invariably shoot ourselves in the foot and tonight is a must win game.
Slim, gervinho and Gibbs are out.
Chamakh might get a cameo, remember his header at the Wolves 2 seasons ago.If he could reproduce that form and we are winning he may just get a chance, but I supose that is wishful thinking.
On an entirely different matter it was upsetting to see some of our regulars lambasting each other yesterday, and as Rasp said it is best kept off the blog.I hope it is not repeated today.
Top drawer pre-match Irish
I love all the little quips.
That wolf up there doesn’t look wounded it looks like he wants a big cuddle.
And it appears that Rasp is guessing that we will be playing in coral pink tonight.
Come on you coral pinks.
Nah, it’s not going to catch on. lol
Spot on, Slim. 🙂
Morning all, still grinning after the victory of the
forces of good against evil on sunday.
Maire, I know you’re not around now but cheers for your caustic and entertaining pre match and for stepping into the breach in Big Randy’s absence.
Actually the FA are showing how near sighted they are because if they had extended Mad Mario’s ban they would be helping their leader, Bacon Face, in making the run in for the title even easier for the Old Toilet tossers.
In their continued mission to give the Premier Leagues carthorse players carte blanche to kick/maim Arsenal players they have forgotten their prime directive – make things easy for the red-nosed glaswegian, alchy shiester.
No doubt the hair dryer awaits for Riley and his mendacious muppets at the referees association.
Irish my beauty, you are very special and I recon Lady Gaga should have you tattooed on her arm.
Thank you for an absolutely fabulous post
We’ve got to treat these weaker teams with the same respect we treat the bigger teams. We can’t afford to adopt an attitude of “We’re so good we’re bound to score.” If we show the same work rate and committment as we did last Sunday we should win comfortably.
Cracking post. We are going to have to be very focussed tonight to ensure we don’t slip up.
Wolves have their threats in Kightly, Fletcher, Doyle and Jarvis but we can match them.
The only concern I have is if Arsene swaps players to keep them fresh for the game against Chelski at the weekend
WG
Wigan it’s Wigan next. Chavs not until 21st.
Nice post Irish. I think the only reason poor old Connor got the job is because no-one wanted it…including him. We can only lose this tonight if Arsene has a mad moment and buggers-about with the team by maybe adding a certain gormless french bloke to it.
Oopsie, that’s a bit of a boo boo 🙂
WG
Quick WG, back to your pre-match and a swift edit! 🙂
WG has written a great pre-match too on his own site, together with a stirling defense of the Arsenal comedian Alan Davies. Well worth a read. 🙂
Absolutely true Dominic, even a whiff of complacency and we could see another QPR type debacle.
I know it sounds like a cliche but with the N17 Looters and the Bar codes breathing down our necks we have to treat each of the last 6 games as Cup Finals.
Intenstity and concentrations are a must – I’m looking at you Djourou !
@RA
Haha, damn you noticed!! 🙂 I cant believe I did that…I started my pre-match by being right, then cocked it up later on…my befuddled brain!! 🙂
WG
Anyone seen Chamakh’s comments on Sky.
He’s had his problems in the last 12 months and i for one have stated on many occasion that he should be shown the door, but i have to give him credit for wanting to stick around and prove himself. Bendtner has shown in the past that sulking and moaning gets you nowhere, and its nice to see Chamakh wants to be an Arsenal player. Fingers crossed he can prove himself, though i feel he is going to have to settle for being 3rd choice next season…..if hes still with us!
I’ve always liked Chamakhs attitude slim. I do feel for him because if it wasn’t for RVP being so good i’m sure he would’ve got better and better instead of being pushed back onto the bench. Strikers in our system are a little like 2nd choice keepers, they rarely get a game and when they do they have to instantly hit-it-off. Coming on as a sub for 10 minutes here and there just isn’t enough to build a players confidence. Arsene is not going to revert to 4-4-2 so his only real chance is if Robin plays for his country and gets injured again.
I agree Barum. His stats as an Arsenal player show that he is more than capable when starting, but his record as a sub is pretty dreadful. Some players just need playing time, others are able to do it from the bench at the drop of a hat. Chamakh isn’t one of em!
id give the ox a game instead of walcott,,theo has played a lot recently and should be given a rest, benayoun has to start out left,,outstanding against spurs and man shitty,he really deserves a run in the team,,0-3 id say,rvp to break his goal drought aswell
Cracking stuff Irish
100% in agreement with your team selection, JD will be sound i’m sure. No other necessary need to spoil the winning team from Sunday.
I’m still grinning from Artetas wonder strike, its amazing what can happen should one elect to shoot.
Just hope the game is well won before Rambo comes on and i pray he can bag a goal for his confidence.
whoops forgot about Gibbs as a forced change but then again i see Santos as a like for like replacement, where as DJ is some way behind our best CB Bosscielny.
COYG
oh i give up (DJ? = JD) i type too fast for my brain…… and i don’t actually type that fast at all 😦
You’re right there TommyS, as long as the Verminator defends responsibly and doesn’t go marauding forward incessantly then JD should be ok.
I think Yossi on the left is better as his work rate should pin back attacks from the Wolves right flank as we need that because Santos is not as mobile as Gibbo.
Excellent pre-match Irish. You have a lovely writing style.
I haven’t anything to add to what you said.
Bring on the game!
Irish – just a little poke about Rosicky – ‘the player I’ve been harping on about’ 🙂 Nothing to do with his skills, is the facial bone structure you devil x
Crikey, how long to kick off – early goals for Robin and Theo so we can relax, that would be nice. 🙂
Cracking post Irish, great read and definitely gets one in the mood. Nothing like a spot of rabble-rousing to make you stiffen the sinews and summon up the blood, eh!
I’d give anything for your forecast scoreline, but matches like this always give me the willies – away games against the more, ahem, workmanlike sides of the Prem don’t tend to bring out the best in the red and white (unlike a clash with the natural resource-raping oilers).
I still think that looks like a cuddly wolf up there.
Brilliant post Irish, Big Raddy would be proud of that.
We should meet up in the Tavern one day. ime already in love with you, and once you meet me you will fall in love with me…but dont tell Redders, we dont want the big man getting jealous. hahahaha
This should be a tough, physical encounter. If we overcome there pressing game, and i think we will, it should be a delightful 3 points. Five points in front of Totnumb hey. I know i shouldnt laugh until after the game……but i cant help myself. hahahahahaha.
Afternoon all
Irish – classy pre-match, I should press you more often. Really looking forward to the game tonight but as evonne said earlier only five to go after this 😦 😦 😦
Thankfully Wolves is not too far to travel so I’m hoping we can show some desire to end the night five points ahead of scum hahahahahaha
Mustn’t laugh I know, I’ll be more serious later 😀
While I’m around, any volunteers for the match report?
Also we’ll need posts for the weekend as we don’t play until Monday night …………… all offers considered 😆
Peaches
It’s not on live here but I think it will be shown later on a delayed transmission. If that’s the case I’d be happy to do the report. The only problem is I’m not 100% sure about the delayed transmission…
Anyone seen this brilliant headline from the spoof news site News Thump:-
Player who won’t play for Man City again to be replaced by player who won’t play for Man City again, reveals Mancini
Man City manager Roberto Mancini has insisted that controversial striker Mario Balotelli won’t play for the club again, with Carlos Tevez, who has recently returned to first team action after a spell of not playing for the club ever again, set to replace him.
Brilliant!
5-0 to the Gunners tonight with an RVP hat trick.
Rocky,
It’s due to be broadcast on SNWLH at 8:30 pm.
I’ve also heard that it will be streamed live on http://www.bleacherreport.com but I’ve never tried the site myself – heard it can be quite “colourful”
Evening all – glad ye liked the post 🙂
LB – I had been looking for a tired looking wolf with a hint of anger in his eyes but came across the fellow above and he made me smile, so I went with him ha ha
Slim – I follow that site on Twitter and have it on Facebook as well, they come up with some classic headlines
Kightly is a useful player, he used to play for my local team Grays Athletic. I saw him play in a cup final at Villa Park a few years back in a minor league competition.
Brilliant writing Irish. Bloody love it.
DublinDidIt left NorthWalesDidIt in a deep hole. All is well and I’m raring to go after that pre match.
I’m never sure about the respect thing. Sometimes I feel we show too much to supposed lesser teams. Commitment, energy and concentration, yes, most definately.
Cheers Gn5 – that’s good news.
Peacher – in that case I can do the report.
Well done Rocky, thanks, I’ll look forward to reading it 🙂
Rocky,
I thought of you yesterday, well your Cooper Grandfather to be exact, as we drove through Dublin past the Guinness Brewery
Hello Didit Senior
Did you stop for a tour and a pint?
Sadly not. We had driven from West Cork on the way to the ferry, and I thought best zoom through the City Centre.
Hi Irish, apologies for my late arrival and thanks for a typically celtic PM 😛
I bow to your omniscience re Tomas – he’s been fantastic this season and there was me thinking you had purely carnal motives 😳
Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Djourou, Santos, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Benayoun, Walcott, Van Persie.
Great pre match Irish.
I just looked at that arsenal truth site. What an arsehole
Interesting line up. Maybe play Ramsey in one of the two deeper positions with Song (my preferred position for him anyway) with “Scoring Booted Arteta” as AM.
Good side, I’m thinking comfortable victory tonight. 0-4 to the good guys.
GM,
He’s an areshole eh? He could team up with the Grove and form a tunnel.
Haven’t had a chance to read comments yet, but I imagine the discussion has turned to Ramsey starting and going against Irish’s wishes…big decision from the boss….any surprise its for an away game?
Great pre match Irish, I feel we need to be wary tonight, hopefully get a stream for kick off.
Terry
“This should be a tough, physical encounter”.
I thought you were dreaming about meeting Irish!
Eeemh – at least Ramsey will be played in the middle so he should have more influence on the game.
I’ve got a feeling Ramsey will run this match.
GM – 😆
He always does a lot of running. Harsh GM 🙂
Agreed, Ramsey will be more effective centrally as he doesn’t stay wide when in that position. He needs to learn how to feed off Arteta’s distribution not try to take over that role. I reckon he’ll have a blinder tonight.
You did say run not ruin GM 😉
Actually I am quite nervous (as usual) about tonight.
Anyone know who the subs are.
And how can you have a fatigued groin.(Gibbs)Maybe better not to answer that.
I’m nervous too Kelsey. Could be QPR again. i hope that the team still have that in thier heads though.
An early goal and I think Wolves may chuck in the towel for the season.
Kelsey, have you discovered the subs yet? Oxo, Cham, Ros and who?
https://twitter.com/#!/ArsenalGent/status/190141319316905984
https://twitter.com/#!/ArsenalGent/status/190142955405852672
Ramsey will score and Mugabe will die O_O
Let’s hope so Irish
3 – Ashley Young has defied medical experts by returning to the United lineup just three days after Derry’s horror challenge on him. Soldier
2 – Wigan have launched appeals for both men sent off in tonight’s match against Manchester United. Justice.
Ha ha love the Wigan one 😆
Subs: Fabianski, Squillaci, Park, Oxo, Chamakh, Rosicky, Jenkinson
easy win guys, breathe easy. thanks for the pre-match irish. i hope peaches pressures you more often because i really like your writing style.
Wolves have not kept a clean sheet since August so there will be goals. Man uinited and tottenham pumped them. Fletcher is there danger man and isn’t starting. Doyle hasn’t scored against Arsenal ever! Wolves used to be a challenge, now they are as tough as a puppy!
Arsene never learns Ramsey?? please
haha thank you tottenham scum!
I fear Piressleepy will never learn…..8 wins from 9 and questioning Arsenes decisions, has he not earned the right to choose a team without question yet….it’s not like he is Arry and playing 4-4-2 “cos people tell me we’re better like that”
My stream is behind sky sports news lol
so I know this is going in
Btw I’m not saying we shouldn’t question his selection at the end of the 90 minutes. 🙂
My stream is still on 1 nil
2-0 lovely jubbly
The ball keeps going sidewards when Ramsey has it.I see us losing this game watch this space.
haha this is going to be a great match, it’s all too easy from here! The scum beat them 5-0, lets out do them!
I know we’re winning but I have to feel sorry for Wolves it’s not like you want to be down to ten men 7 minutes into a relegation fight for your life game.
What game are you watching ?
Trouble is GIE we need the goal difference just in case, so we cant go easy on them.
i would GiE if they weren’t calling walcott a w*nker! What was he supposed to go? the scum player shoved him over.
All the best for Mrs Dandanite also
Kelsey. Give me a ring when you can. Mate
*do
Van Persie after 9 mins, Walcott after 11. 2-0 and Wolves down to 10 men………………
Thanks oz. there is no change I am afraid.
If Ramsey doesnt score in this game then its game over for him at Arsenal.
Sorry to hear Dandan, i look forward to hearing the change for the better soon!
@ piresleepy
if you aren’t going to speak some sense kindly buzz off. You will eat those words when he’s our future captain and Arsenal great!
Wigan giving the Mancs a run for their money and we have to play them on Monday TV
Wigan are a good side.
We would be foolish to underestimate them….
Wigan had a good goal disallowed lucky Mancs again
Bit of a suprise, not!
RVP has now scored 45 goals in his last 50 PL matches, how good is that
Hope he gets 30+.
Think the best since the War was 47-48 when Rooke got 33.
he is lucky that’s not his second yellow. A lot of their players are pushing the boundary a little.
How many points have ManUre accumulated in recent games from dodgy ref decisions?
It must be 8 or 9.
Perhaps al Fayed is right Rocky
Off course it’s biased.
Run to the car from training with three 11 yr olds in townal 2-0 up. Switch on radio to just catch ‘down to 10 men. Great start from Arsenal 2-0 up’ .
Happy days !!!
of not off
Dandan
You mean that Man Utd had Princess Di murdered?
Yep, I can buy that.
Nice, very nice.
Goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal Wigan
LOL Rocky you sound like my wife 🙂
What price ManUre get a penalty from Dowd before their game is up?
what a save!!!
My boy Wojtek! what a save
Fergie crying 🙂
Looks like ramsey is injured. We need to focus a bit more, getting a bit sloppy.
I would hate for United to f**k it up after what we did for themon the weekend, but I do want Wigan to stay up, and 3 points tonight may mean they try less next week 🙂
My streams poo, but I can still see we are playing far too relaxed imo, only takes a second to score and we should be trying to put this game out of sight, fresh legs please.
Thanks, Bennyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Why not take off walcott and RVP and chuck on park + ox. RVP deserves a rest, and gives park some game time. I wish yossi was staying longer, he really is a class act, great finish
Really poo just missed that goal!
Yessie – Yossie…………..
santos worries me.
Fergie has just had a word with the linesman
Wigan doing to the Mancs what they did to us last year
5 mins Fergie time how does he do it
dont worry they’ll get plenty of stoppage time
right, ManU have 5 mins extra time
God, I so want them to lose. If they win they can win the league by Sunday
Called the score right 🙂
YES! take that manu!
S.t.r..o..l..l
Glad Benny got a goal he works so hard.
So were we watching the Arsenal game or the ManUre game?
Good win tonight, just what the doctor ordered a nice calm 3 points and 3-0 win.
Kelsey re Santos
He just has that Brazilian attitude to football that it is purely a game of entertainment and should always look beautiful.
But I agree he can worry, but he excites in equal measure 😀
Am actually glad Wigan won as they will be bouyant before they play us and that is when we get the best out of Arsenal, if you get my drift.
I’m gutted hat Ramsey didn’t score…absolutely gutted
Just saw LOF’s snippets of the Wigan game …worthy winners. Fantastic crowd scenes at the end of the game
Felt sorry for Ramsey, he so nearly scored.,A yard further out and it was a goal
snap
Seeing that Man U lose at Wigan it kind of puts some of our results in to context, they were just being crowned champions and all of a sudden they are only 5 points ahead, and the Manc Derby looks very interesting again.
Quick dash from a hard night’s work (don’t ask): with the three goals tonight, we’ve just reached a positive goal difference on away games. About time!
Interesting re United, shame Shitty bounced. Still, continues to look good for us. I’m going to be gutted when this season comes to an end.
OK, back to the work…..
Fergie should get rightfully slated for resting Howard Webb.
GiE – I watched both. I must admit I was terribly excited about Wigan’s performance and Fergie running in the technical area, hillarious 🙂
The mancs are a shit team. I’d love to play them niw.
now
I think city are a better team
GiE – I watched both games. I must admit I was terribly excited about Wigan’s performance and Fergie running in the technical area, hillarious 🙂
RA – a BIG thank you for this morning’s answer. I sent it to the originator, my very posh neighbour and he is speachless for once 🙂
https://twitter.com/#!/SamiNasri19/status/190183817246556160
Well, that was all very easy.
I am impressed by Irish calling the score and by Chary for saying that he wanted RVP and Walcott to score early. Is is too late to get into your weekend Euro Lotto syndicate?
Does anyone have a call on MOTM, I think this is the the first time ever I don’t have a suggestion, maybe Benny for being a good guy?
Every time I press refresh I see that cuddly wolf’s face, it’s so sweet.
Chas
Just seen your 9.53, very funny.
Can’t believe I’m witnessing LB’s whimsical side….
For once my predictions worked, now what did I say at 4.48 – early goals for Robin & Theo?
Good job gunners.
By the way, United’s defeat means we can still win the title.
Grrrrrrrrr.
lol..
You speaking to the wolf?
The win has improved Rambos win stats also! Hooray!
I have a funny feeling Shitty are now going to win the title, Mancini is a weird fella when he is being interviewed. It’s like he is trying to play mind games but doesn’t really understand.
Fergie on the other hand knows exactly what he is doing:
” they’ve been saying big teams get decisions, we got none tonight”
“I’ve always said decisions even themselves out, we got them Sunday, not today”
The unsaid message is: Dear Mr Riley, please make sure your team are aware that we have been paid back for the mistake and aggro we caused you all, go back to giving us decisions”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V-lzWA_ZtQ
Morning all.
I’m with LB on the Wolf.
I’m also with 26 in not wanting this season to end. Apart from our own games, I think we are in for a lot of fun watching Chelsea and Totnum lose here there and everywhere in PL, FAC and CL.
Let the good times roll.
Oh dear.
GiE is feeling sorry for everyone. Evonne is marching the Germans and Kelsey is doing his hair and putting his shades on.
Oz and rURp, is there something I need to know about events in the Southern Hemisphere?
Morning DidIt,
Robin’s pen was a bit of a pisstake, don’t you think?
I can see where the sonic boom boy is coming from.
As if the Wolves goalie wearing wellies wasn’t bad enough?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6273ldq6OkE
Morning Chas,
Yes. I prefer the blaster type pen. Those don’t half look silly if they go wrong.
Oscar just read the Hapgood book on holiday.
Morning Micky.
I had expected a far harder game beforehand and even with the sending off I don’t think it made much difference as Wolves had set themselves out not to lose.
LB asked who was man of the match and I find that a little tricky to answer.
I am impressed with benny the more he plays and I expect him to feature in the rest of our games as I believe his loan spell ends at the end of the season.
Two really great saves by our Pole in goal but he is still not distributing the ball well when he kicks and I noticed he was throwing the ball out more than usual which was far more effective.
Theo scored a really good goal,at first I thought it was easier than it was, but not for the first time he drifts out of the game.
Another observation is that RVP is riding a lot of hard tackles this season to no ill effect, and with regards to the penaly I ask is hennesy actually allowed to move across the goal when he is actually beyond the goal line, not that it matters as Robin sussed him out with a really good cheeky penalty.
Wigan had their 5 minutes of glory last night and we will put them in their place come monday.
finally congratulations to RVP who equalled the record in the PL of scoring against 17 teams in one season.
Morning Chas
Morning Kelsey,
All good points. I bet you will still be nervous come monday night 🙂
On the Benny loan. Do Chelsea really want him back, as I see no future for him at the Bridge.
He blow-dries his hair when he wants, he blow-dries his hair when he wants…….. Morning, oh hirsute one.
Wigan’ll be tough, but I always like it when we play teams that want to play football. Roll on Monday.
Chas,
Roll on monday indeed. Tough? I don’t think so. We’ll have a fresh Rosicky and we are brimming with confidence and purpose.
To keep us going until then, we have Spurs losing in the FAC Semi 🙂
Kelsey…Hennessy is allowed to move wherever he wants on or behind the goal line he is not allowed to move forward before the ball is kicked.
I need to watch Chas’s vid again as I think Robin only goes for the chip because Hennessy moves so early off his line. If so it shows what control the man has at the moment. He is on a different footballing level right now, not just goal scoring but awareness of everything around him, space, players etc that the game is so easy.
Quick mention for the Ox last night he excites every time he has the ball but even against tired legs he found himself overplaying occasionally which is possibly why Wenger doesn’t see him as a starter yet.
GiE,
Ox is not a starter as you say, more an amuse bouche.
Micky every game is tough….and I’m bringing my bad luck to the game on Monday so the team have to overcome that.
I thought Santos was the amuse bouche?
GiE,
Now that is seriously bad news, and changes everything.
Morning all,
Welcome back Mickster. The mornings aren’t the same without you. Nothing to report down here, although reports are going around in regards to LB’s new found softness (words spread by 26).
@ Kelsey
good points. I however couldn’t care less about his distribution when kicking. I mean when your kicking it to walcott, yossi, RVP, gerv, AA, and Ox it’s pretty much pointless. If we had players who were good in the air it’d be a different story. I prefer the short option , or the throw anyway, as long as he’s making those saves after doing nothing for 70 minutes he can stay there until he retires
Morning all, especially the globetrotter Micky, good to have you back!
No, Evonne is in pain, not walking yet; knocked herself out with a garden fork and has a lump the size of a lemon on her face, it hurts 😦 I had a horrid day yesterday, until the evening and the boys in red and white cheered me up no end, them and one furious Fergie 🙂
The penalty was awesome, thanks Chas for the link, watched it again and again…
Morning Oz and Evonne.
No globetrotter here. Been to Ireland!
A few weeks ago I wanted Utd to pip City to the title. Then we trounced The Oilers and the terrible realization set in that Ferguson would bag another. I’m now moving back in favour of a hollow bought City title. Tough choice.
I’m not worried about the Wigan game, but the arrival of maloney changes things a touch. The goal last night shows what he is capable of, as did his game for Villa against Chelsea in 2007 when he scored a brace in a 4-4 draw. He is a short quick player that will buzz around similar to that of Nicky Hunt, so our defence must be on it’s toes. Also he is a set piece specialist so we must not concede free kicks around the area.
I hate Gary Caldwell. RVP has to be on his toes because he will look to clatter into him every chance he gets. Victor moses has a new lease on life as well but i how no doubt Sagna will control him with relative ease
Oz,
Worry not about Wigan, rather about keeping GiE as far away as possible.
Micky – nay, I still prefer United to the team of money grabbing primadonnas and bench warmers.
Funny country Ireland, don’t you think? I remember seeing shocking powerty there some 30 years ago, old people renting rooms to tourists, rooms vacated by their children who emigrated to Oz, US and UK, it was sad. Then it was the boom, Eire was a mad place to be, like a big building site. And now we are back to the times where old people rent their children’s rooms to supplement their small pensions again. My sister-in-law has a big house in Dublin where her 4 children grew up – 3 are in Oz, no intention of ever coming back and 4th in London, a Gunner, some of you met him. She spends christmases in her big house on her own. Sad times again.
Ha-ha I’ve heard stories about GiE and i don’t think I’d stand a chance containing him ha-ha.
Don’t worry Micky no worrying here, I always go into games thinking we are going to belt the opposition 3-0. Maybe naive, but I prefer optimistic and I think the team is the bees knees
@ Evonne
We’ve all could learn a valuable lesson through your experience:
1) forks are used for eating
2) don’t garden ever
Also would you say you are walking around with a ‘Sour’ look on your face today then Evonne?! sorry couldn’t resist ha-ha.
In saying that though, Peaches i may need to ask you (the AA gardening wizz) about some advice in regards to starting a vege patch
Evonne,
All very true about Ireland. But jeepers, they didn’t half blow the money during the recent good times. Sad all the same, and you’re right, everyone is packing their bags.
Personally I would rather United (i hate them with a passion), but I hate Nasri more. After seeing that smug comment the other day and seeing him run around the pitch on Sunday I hope he never EVER wins a trophy in his career! Not for France, not for Man City, not for his 5-a-side team when he’s 50. I’d get great satisfaction in that, especially when at the same time we are winning trophies willy nilly.
Oz!!!! Not anymore, my sourpuss is smiling with you 🙂
Peaches doesn’t know about veggies, that’s my forte. I grow all my own fruit and veg, and keep bees 🙂
What do you need to know? Get my email from Peaches
Let’s assume we win the next three games and secure third in the process, are we then allowed to loan our entire first team to Newcastle for the final two games?
Micky – yes they did. Did you see all the ghost towns, whole villages of luxurious brand new houses empty 😦 My nephew bought a house for 700k euros 5 years ago, he is in Oz now and has to work to pay the mortgage in Dublin; he cannot rent it out, because there are so many properties to rent.
Last year I paid 15euros for a hamburger and chips in Eire! Mind you, paid 10 dollars for a jar of coffee in Sydney 5 years ago
Where did you goto in Ireland micky.
My son is going over there next week with his partner and her dad has a stud farm in Kilcock (just outside Dublin) and things are really dire thee. The parents bought an investment house in Dublin 4 years ago for 550K euros and can’t get 200K for it now.
The Irish are the biggest property owners in europe and for many it has got so expensive they drive across the border to shop for essentials such as food.
Evonne this gardening lark seems dangerous. 🙂
Need a blue rinse today as the Sun is turning my silver grey hair yellow.back in a few hours 🙂
Brilliant idea Micky, the rest did you good 🙂 The Chavs and Scum in mid table, yeeees
I am still half worried about Chavs winning the CL, then only first 3 teams go to CL next season
Kelsey,
Ferry to Dublin, then drove across the country to West Cork. The amount of new houses is staggering.
Kelsey – leave your hair alone, it looks great! Gardening is ok, I am the dangerous part of it
Off to see a doctor, head really hurts 😦
Just one more thing – Rooney was substituted and looked well chissed off, anyone knows why he was replaced?
Evonne,
I’m hoping for a 4-2 win for Barca in the first leg next week at the Bridge, leaving the Chavs tired but still with a little hope for the second leg with our PL game with them sandwiched between the two. Then Barca to finish them off in Spain. End of worries.
I bet they are cheap Micky.
The guy i told you about has been looking at new developments and the builders are so cash strapped he has bought an apartment priced at 175k for 105k cash.
In case you haven’t been reading our never seen authors need a multitude of posts in the next few days. 🙂
Kelsey,
Its a tragic mess, but often what hapens when you spend other peoples’ money with nothing other than immediate personal gain as the driving force.
Kelsey,
I’ve already done one on hair, so that’s out. I’ll have a think.
Morning peeps, everywhere! 🙂
Evonne, I had no idea I was entertaining your neighbour, yesterday, with my linguistic musings. 🙂
LB had a point about that wolf, he looked more quizical than fierce, altho’ my impression was that he was thinking of having a scratch, if only he could be arsed!
Great result last night – the game itself was a bit of an anti-climax because it was like a relaxed training session — who cares? it was another 3 points!! 🙂
Nasty thought. Some work awaits. Best go and face some music. Back later.
Morning all,
I can’t stick around today – very busy 😦
Observations on the match:
Yossi was my MotM – would have been Theo but he lost momentum like most of the team.
Ramsey was shakey at first but improved as the game went on and deserved a goal
Sz made 2 fantastic saves
Wolves were unlkucky to get a man sent off. I’d much rather they stayed up and QPR went down – but it’ss not gonna happen
Wigan are full of confidence, we need to be at our best on Monday and restrict their chances on goal. Djourou did well last night but will need to be at his best against Wigan’s mobile forward play.
Awesome Evonne i’ll have to get back to you on that. But basically I’ve got the seeds…and then I’m stuck!
Oz – seeds are a good start 🙂 now get my email and then you are sorted, simples 🙂
cheers for that evonne, much appreciated
@kelsey 8:36am: “stud farm in Kilcock” – love it! 🙂
26th.
it is absolutely true.
Morning all
New Post …………….
