Following on from Rocky’s finely researched post about the curse of the Carling Cup:
Another lunch time fixture, another outing for our dreadful blue away kit and a tough fixture.
I am from the generation which remembers Anfield as the toughest fixture of the season. Win up there and you were a quality team, you had to be because for many, many years Liverpool were supreme: The Liverpool side of the late 80’s was the best team ever seen on British soil until the arrival of The Invincibles.
However, times move on and this Liverpool side despite having been expensively assembled is nowhere near good enough to win the PL (not that we are!), they are as unpredictable as a Nik Bendnter finish. Scraping past a very average Cardiff is proof of their weaknesses.
The hugely expensive purchases of recent years have shown that money cannot buy success – our record signing is Wiltord at £16m approx; in the last few seasons the Scouse have bought Aquillani, Torres, Downing, Saurez, Mascherano, Carroll, Henderon, Johnson and Keane, all of whom cost more than Wiltord. And what have they won? The CC. How many times have the been in the CL? Not enough for the investment.
Still swallowing the King Kenny Dream
However, they remain a potent force at Anfield and it must be remembered they beat us at THOF. They are unbeaten this season at home and yet have won only 4 out of 12.
Liverpool have some injury problems with Agger out but Stevie Me is likely to have recovered from his half hour for England. Carroll may be a laughing stock but we are prone to concede goals from players of his stature. Had Mr Wenger had his way Reina would be playing for the good guys, he remains the best GK in the Prem (IMO). Their defence is shaky without Agger. Midfield will be where the game is won and lost. The impression I get from L’pool blogs is that Adam has not been a success, nor has Henderson and the loss of Lucas has been costly. Which brings us to Liverpools’s most potent weapon, Suarez.
Is there a less popular player in English football? It cannot be denied Suarez is blessed with huge talent but his cheating and demeanor are appalling – he is the new El Hadj Diouf. As to the racial abuse case: Dalgleish’s stand and the general support from the fans was shameful, in particular at a club with the proud heritage of LFC. There is no possibility Mr Wenger and The Arsenal would have supported the player in this case. It has harmed the standing of a great club. Will Liverpool sell Suarez in summer as I hope would be the case at Arsenal – probably not, just look at the way MC have handled Tevez. One insincere apology from the media dept and all is well …. shame on them.
Arsenal have the usual injury problems. There are doubts about key players: Vermaelen, Rosicky and RvP, without whom we will struggle. Diaby is back in the squad but is unlikely to play.
My team:
Benayoun played very well last weekend and it is hard to drop him but I believe Gervinho’s pace will cause the Scouse problems. Mozart is on his best run of form in his Arsenal career and will surely start ahead of the fit again Ramsey.
Inventor from Liverpool: Mr Frank Hornby. Inventor of Boys Toys Extraordinaire. Not just the Hornby train sets but also Meccano and my personal favorite, Dinky toys. At one time Meccano was the most popular toy in the world.
Calm Down now
March is Mr. Wenger’s most successful month with a Pl 52. W36 D10 L6 record. A win today could knock one of the 3 challengers for a CL place out of contention.
Beating the Miscreants was a result of team play and pressing all over the pitch, if we can reproduce this team ethic we can win …. Let’s Stay Together!

Arsenal News 24/7

If we do win and the chavs win. The scum will be worried about dropping out of the top four altogether.
Hope your team is right Randy 😉
I knew you would chose a song title hence my last post.
let’s hope it’s not a long and winding road. Help. Anyone got a ticket to ride.Hope we make it a hard days night for the scousers even with arshavin backin the USSR,do you want to know a secret, Suarez can’t buy me love.1-0 to us, hello, goodbye.
Kelsey 🙂
Heven’t read the post yet. I’ll give it the attention it deserves later
Kelsey. Class
Nice one BR
There’s no doubt this Liverpool team is beatable today, and hopefully they will have a few heavy legs in their side after a gruelling 120 minutes against Cardiff and a midweek International friendly.
If we can press like we did last week then we will win. My only concern is if Liverpool get the home crowd going. Let’s hope an early game silences them.
Start with high tempo today and we will be fine. Need kos, verm, sang and Gibbs at the back though. Start with walkout and bring the ox on after 65 mins. 3 – 1. To the mighty arsenal.

Quality as usual Raddy, will be delighted if that side starts. Kelsey a few more 🙂 Henderson has to be the original nowhere man, Caroll the fool on the Pil-sners, Our day trippers, know all things must pass, and pool wouldn’t make top four even if there were eight days a week, cos when your 68, you are glad all over, that kenny has to let it be, cos this boy, thinks we can work it out, with a little help from my friends. So all together now, SHOUT, guys and HELP,cos Ive got a feeling, it wont be long, before kenny starts to cry baby cry,
Have a house full of pool supporters in today so we definitely need to win.
Nice one, BR.
CMON you Gunners.
Nice one Raddy, another top pre-match post, lets hope we continue where we left off.
Evonne @ 8.07 prev. post – If I had to bet money on somebody not liking the clip, and commenting to make the point, all my money would have been on you
a) You lack any semblance of romance
b) You wait like a shark to pounce for any excuse to snipe at anything I post.
I only put it up because I heard he’d been selected to represent the UK in the Eurovision, and I thought some might not even know who he is. And it took me back to my childhood.
Not everything has to be commented on, just enjoy it for what it is, or don’t watch. I didn’t put ‘specifically for Evonne’..

Herb those were the days when the all guys could sing, not just the odd one we get today. he tried with three or four names before making it big with that silly name then he was stuck with it.
Wow BiG,
I thought you really had the “bile bit” between your teeth following the Spud pre match. Given that today we play the most vile supporters in the land, I strongly suspect you are on some cuddly pills.
Still, its got me in the mood, so thank you for that.
Techy question:
When I plug my laptop into the TV for the onlinefooty coverage, I only get sound from the laptop. Any ideas?
Nice one Chas, some serious miming going on there!
True dandan, the world and his wife were ‘crooners’ back then. He and Tom Jones had the same manager, and E.H. only got ‘Please Release Me’ because Tom Jones turned it down.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxEZ4J-wRU4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC0S5LHnq5k
Micky you need a HDMI lead if your laptop has a port for it.
Hi Micky – you need a sound cable to run from the ‘headphone’ socket on your laptop to your tv – goes into the ‘audio IN’ sockets. Its a single cable from your laptop that ends with 2 dins into the tv – mine have red and white plugs 🙂
I do wish some bloggers would stop sniping at each other 😦
……. and I don’t want to hear ‘he or she started it’ ……..
Chas I was at that match the Merson one, with my son the pool fan, we were right inline with the ball as it rolled into the goal.
Kenny had resigned that week and as the teams ran out all the gooners sang “where’s your kenny gone” to be fair the scousers around us laughed, as they did when they sang we won the league on Merseyside. Happy days
Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Arteta, Song, Walcott, Rosicky, Benayoun, van Persie. Subs: Fabianski, Diaby, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jenkinson, Gervinho, Chamakh, Miquel.
Herb if you like singers this girl is a favourite of mine that a lot of people have not heard of.
dandan and Peaches,
Thanks, I’ve got Brains on the case.
And dandan, my hatred of Pool supporters excludes anyone in your family 🙂
Chas,
That team will win.
Here’s a couple of screenshots of Szcz, Chambo and Bacary from SoccerAM

Pool’s line-up: Reina, Jose Enrique, Carragher, Kelly, Skrtel, Henderson, Downing, Spearing, Adam, Suarez, Kuyt.
Carroll and Bellamy, along with a load of unfamiliar names, are on the bench.
26,
Is that all they got? What a load of old rubbish 🙂
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxlzU3scwQU
I’ve got the sound off already!
Looking good ain’t it Micky. Just start the game with a bit of that vim and verve we had last week and this could be fun.
Points at Anfield, I love ’em.
Come on the rip-roaring navy-and-turqoises!
No Gerrard, no Carroll, no Agger!
These boys are there for the taking. Let’s get at them early and be RUTHLESS!
OK chums, I have to sign off: a scouse mate is coming round to watch the game at mine, and it would be downright rude to be tapping messages to you guys when I should be lording it over him (or taking a right old piss-taking).
Catch you lot later.
26,
Nah, I say give them a two goal start 🙂
Diaby on the bench!
Come on you Gunners
Quic check in pre kick off…great prematch as always Raddy. Anfield is one place I never fancy us, today is no different they have enough players to hurt us. Especially Bellamy coming off the bench. A horrible player on the pitch a decent bloke off it (especially in unsung charity work) and someone every fan would like in their squad.
Quiet trepidation here, just had the pre match phone call with the Dipper bro in law, and like me he is cautious not to predict a win for his teams.
cheers for the pre-match randy.
expected defensive lineup from liverpool. Why play adam and downing when they can only cross the ball, yet carrol isn’t in there and suarez isn’t winning a header against anyone.
Come on ARSENAL!
Raddy – great prematch ‘Calm down now’ 🙂
Same team as Sunday?
Herb – you are either completely mad or have no sense of humour whatsoever!! No, no, no, I am not going to say anything anymore because it is not worth it. Just get a life mate
Apart from assualting women GIE. And hitting people with golf bats
yep GM. Damn i hate you Suarez!!!
two weeks in a row screwed by a dive!
Justice is served! awesome follow up.
Might be the kick up the bum we need.
Total dive, though.
was it another dive? front bottoms
sure was GM. He put his put into szcz and pretty much front flipped. Worst than Bale’s
* foot
damn damn damn
Is the ref a bent one like dowd, dean and webb?
Kozzer doing a Rosicky finish. Crap.
Our MF needs to get a grip.
But with Song just back from Cameroon, Benny from Israel, TR from CZech R they look knackered.
We’re getting murdered right now.
apparently his field of view was impeded. Sure pure guess work. When in doubt award a penalty so it seems.
We have started very very slowly. We look very flat and are getting hit badly on the counter
They are dominating midfield.Rosicky and Arteta need to get into this game.
I just celebrated a Kozzer goal until I found out it was the wrong end. It’s shit following on bbc text
hansen and the lawrensen will be happy. wankers
MF needs to work as hard as last week
our away support is fantastic, haven’t heard them stop singing all game. Can hear them very clearly
what a bloody cross! that was amazing!
Spurs gave us acres to play in last week because they thought they could outplay us.
This Liverpool team have flooded the midfield and we are struggling to create anything.
Until now!!!!!!
And they say he can’t cross!!!!!
Oz – what are they singing right now…. ‘he scores when he wants’ 🙂
ROBIN!!!!!!
Carra give it up mate hahaha
Have we scored? The bbc is shit
haha he sure does evonne. If it’s money he wants i’ll rob a bank for the cause!
GM – are you serious??
yeah GM. Sagna sent in a ripper of a cross, RVP got goal side of Carra and headed it home. Great cross, and great positioning by RVP
I am evonne. They are so slow to update the “live” text
Great cross from Bac, great header from Robin 1-1
Oz – it’d better be Australian bank, British owned banks are broke
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
GM – don’t you have the liveonlinefooty subscription?
Nah Evonne i’m going straight to dubai, steal me some gold bricks. Hopefully ones that belong to man city. RVP can get paid in gold
Is Halsey blind? High tackle on TR7. The refs 1 yard away and he gives nothing.
I can’t evonne. My next client is having her colour washed off so I’ll have to do that in a minute.
not blind just corrupt Rocky
Chesney’s having a blinder.
Benny off for Gervinho second half.
Maybe bring Diaby on for Rosicky aswell.
Need to freshen up because we look tired going forward.
these flicks by Liverpool are starting to shit me off. Suarez wouldn’t be a problem if he wasn’t a diving cheat, the players are scared to tackle him
GM – ha ha ha, just be careful with the scrisors 🙂 i hope they are genuinly from Germany
Arteta gets done under Halsey’s nose – again no FK
it’s a joke Rocky
Our defence cannot cope with Suarez
Oh my God, oh my God, post… post
You’re right evonne, we are struggling with the low crosses behind the defense, and the little dinky flicks. Hopefully yossi can do a walcott because he hasn’t done a thing
‘Pool hit the post. We’re riding our luck.
HT – we need to be MUCH better in MF in the second half.
Rosicky, Benny and Song not really at the game. Song and Arteta wasteful and sloppy.
But it’s 1-1 and we can improve 🙂
Surely we can’t be as poor in the second half?
Bloody cheating diving scumbags …… I’m fed up of them 😦
They are so lucky, nearly every one of their flicks and punts find a player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps we need more help in the MF as we are getting over run. Yossi should move more centrally, just like last week with. It’s a shame enrique isn’t as attacking as assou because Walcott has got no room to move.
Well we have definately been ruthless because we have only had one decent chance and scored.
We have ridden our luck first half. Need to keep and move the ball 200% better than we did in the first 45.
This game is still there for us if we move up 2 or 3 gears.
“ARSENE SORT EM OUT” I used to hate when we had to sing that to GG, but I’d like to sing it now.
Liverpool working hard to flood midfield and good strong running from deep which is bypassing our midfield. Who look a bit too static.
Szczesny having a blinder.
We are not holding the ball, need to work hard for each other to give options and play as tight/narrow as they are, we are trying to keep our width and it’s killing us.
I’ll take the point now go home and get ready for Milan.
Glad they can’t finish as well as Koscelny!
Still, I don’t think they can play any better, whereas we certainly can.
Agree Rocky,
Our midfield look knackered.
Still believe we’ll win.
Let’s hope they’re going to run out of steam soon 😦 and Wenger gives everyone some speed at half time craftily disguised as a salt tablet.
Lot of heavy looking legs out there.
Have been a catalogue of poor decisions tho,
Suarez dive
Skrtel on Theo near corner flag
Spearing on Rosicky
well said GiE
We’re getting zero protection from Halsey.
Don’t think he’s bent GM, just a typical homer.
Two games in a row and 2 disgraceful dives. The FA must look at these incidents retrospectively and start handing out bans.
Chas – are you not there?
how unlucky is that! hit by a shoulder on the way through
TSN2. (the channel I’m watching on in Canada) have finally woken up to the fact that it was a dive by Suarez for the pen.
Diaby on for MA may be a blessing in disguise. But I hope Mikel’s OK.
great start from diaby. more of that please
Already you can see the difference a fresh pair of legs is making to our ball retention. Diaby always available.
Gerv on for Benny
Well done szcz again!
is Suarez splinter in disguise?!
Of course, first mistimed pass from an Arse player and it’s a yellow card.
someone please take a crowbar to his knee so he actually has something to roll around about. How as a bloke can you sleep at night knowing you’ve carried on like that?!
*mistimed foul
Piss poor from Song, surely he knows Downing wants to come in on his left. Silly foul
Luck is on our side, it could have easily be 4:1
shit come on, riding our luck with this one. Might be a role reversal though, normally when we lose it’s against 1 or two shots on target. So now we may win won doing it
4:2 🙂
too bad the luck didn’t come off down the other one. Very lucky save, walcott should of used more power though
They’ve missed a pen, missed 2 open goals and hit the post twice. I would take a draw right now.
* end
@ slim
sounds like a victory is deserved by us then. they weren’t clinical enough haha
please please please tell me that was just precautionary! ‘tight hamstring’
Zero luck for Abou. Poor lad must be gutted
I think Adam must’ve been enjoying too much Blackpool rock because his teeth are a mess!!!!
haha well said Slim, i was thinking the same sort of thing. On a football players wage how could you not fix that mess?!
Bellamy will test Sagnas fitness
92nd minute would be “poetic justice” 🙂
8 mins ???
Ok, make that the 98th
Come on lads
6 for arteta evonne
8 minutes injury time?
92nd Micky !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
dont worry evonne it’ll prob be 13.
RVPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

What a fucking goal
92nd minute ha ha ha ha

yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss
So tell me how many passes does Song have to make like that before you lot get it?
Happy, happy, happy
I spent 6 minutes smoking I don’t know how many cigarettes after that one went in.
I’ll be back in 9 months, I’m off to have Robin van Persie’s babies
Loved Robin kissing the Song boot.
Superb ball
Massive three points
So happy
MOTM Szscesny,
But RvP, He Scores When He Wants, He Scores When He Wants, Robin Van Persie, He Scores When He Wants!!!!!!
And he scores how he wants!!!! What a brilliant volley!
Smash n Grab, baby! Wooooooofuckinghooooooo!
I’m tempted to go on a very well known (in hairdressing) bindipping photographers facebook and gloat. Wouldn’t be very professional. Fuck it might as well.
Wrong site LB 🙂
WENGER IS GENIUS D.N.A…
JUST KEEP DEFYING THE ODDS OLD MAN AND LET THE HATERS WHITHER AWAY..OH ARSENE WE LOVE YOU..

Ohh to Ooh to Be OOHH TO BE A GOOONER…
ps..serotonen levels through the roof, what a high!!
WELL DONE BOYS!!!!
Man of the Match goes too—- No.12 (twelvth man) OUR AWAY SUPPORT!!!
by far the GREATEST TEAM…. woooOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!
haha brilliant comment Irish. Tottenham we are coming!
What an awful game BUT who bloody cares!!!
Irish
I’ll take care of the breast feeding
Irish 🙂
cheeky, but done with class in true gooner style!!
Great comeback. They showed real gut today after going one down to an own goal.
The sight of Arteta injured and you would have to imagine Abou Diaby aswell must have been hard to take for them.
When was the last time we defended 14 corners with letting one in ?
Great performance. We won a battle today!
Agree Danny,
Post Inenationals are often ugly affairs, so to pick up three tough away points is just brilliant.
So pleased we got the result for Koscielny.
Goals
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xp74s6_liverpool-vs-arsenal-goals_sport
My mate just text me to say RvP’s strike was “an absolute cracker of a goal” – she is a Liverpool fan but very embarrased by the latest going-ons at the club. She wants Suarez and Dalglish gone asap
hard to imagine they’ve already turned on king kenny? wow..
Anyone notice the gooner right behind the goal in the ’89 away shirt. That’s stylish
😆 I don’t know what else to say about RvP, I think having babies is the only thing I can do that he can’t
I’m also definite he will be here next season – we stuck by him through all those injuries and he won’t leave on a cheap
Not the shirt obviously but the symbolism
I reckon they bring in benitez, spend big, go further into debt and slide down the table even more!
Come on ryo!!!
would i go into a little bit of debt to sign RVP to an extension??
BLODDY FUCKING OATH!!!!!
*bloody* haha.. delirious
Just popping out to join GiE for a victory fag
Great pre match Raddy.
So, we nicked it 2-1, thats revenge for them nicking my mates trousers in 1986.
St Totts day anyone?
Anyone notice Robin wants to take off his shirt but then he decided not to do it? Maybe he was considering his yellow card record?
ROBIN superb VANtastic PERSIE, awesome! absolute MOTM 😀
Luis “diving racist” Suarez HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…
COYRRG
Agreed RuVP, i’d give him the keys to the emirates. Well done by szcz too, he has taken some criticism lately, but he played an absolute blinder. The heart by verm is inspirational as well, you could tell he was hurting, and he got hit a few times but he continued to give it his all!
shit, 3 mins in and Man city should be 3-0 up.
I think we can do meeelan on tuesday
oz,
what a win mate.. i just woke up everybody in the suburbs!!
had the game remained a draw, youd have to consider sceszny as MOM..he was the sole reason we remained in the game…well that and coupled with liverpools 2 left feet in front of goal..kelly anyone?
Its fair because they never vdeserved their win back at Emikrates. Suarez is a cheat and RVP is God.
But we were lucky…. so what.. we have been unlucky in the past so it evens out!!! Come on MU and WBA ..smash spurs and Chelsea
RvP was given MOTM but gave it to Szczesny
Great win. Our players have come back from all over the world and were clearly knackered.
We could have been three or four down at half time. As it was, we were behind to another fluke goal (and if the pen had gone in it would have been just like last week – we’d have been two down to a fluke and a dive).
Second half we were a lot better, but still hanging on a bit.
Song picked up considerably in the second half… then it was all about the quality of the world’s best striker.
Yes, I know… Messi, Ronaldo etc etc – but they play in the Scottish Premier League (Southern Division) where most games are a gimme.
Brilliant game from Wojcech. His best yet.
fuck he just ooooozez class.. even with little things like that..signature please????
i want you to be “robbing (barclays) pursey’s for years to come!!
I thought I’d ask Kenny if he wanted to write our match report but he told me where to get off so who would like to write it?
“you lot” LB. oh dear oh dear oh dear.
Anyway why did Diaby go off.?
Anyone heard wenger he was totally honest but redknapp on sky only wants to talk about all the clubs that will offer RVP 200K a week. I think i hate daglish as much as suarez.
we rode our luck first half but came back well.
4 main men for m were RVP, Song,Sagna and Sczney with schnitzel just behind 🙂
BR
As it was a 7.45am kick off here I’ve had the strange experience of reading your prematch after watching the game.
Very enjoyable all the same. I loved my collection of Dinky Cars when I was a kid.
That was probably ‘Pool’s best performance of the season, so we did incredibly well to come away with three points, even if we rode our luck at times.
Totteringham, we’re comin’ for ya!
Kelsey
Steve Macmanaman was the co-commentator on TSN2. He was also going on and on about how van Persie would want to leave. Why is televised footy so full of ex-Scouser pundits?
When the commentary team finally realised that Suarez had dived for the pen they dismissed it with “still, any striker in the world would have gone down in that situation.”
What????
@ Kelsey
the commentators said a tight hamstring, whether or not that was pure guess work, or they heard something i don’t know. Going straight down the tunnel can’t be good though, unless it was just for ice.
@ RuVP
bloody oath it was. Our community is pretty much a retirement area so i’m waiting to be given a noise complaint, but hey after the last two weeks it can’t be helped.
It is going to be interesting to see who plays for Arteta against AC. No diaby, ramsey (so they say), wilshere, frimpong, coq.
anyone know what Arteta’s injury was?
Spuds fans will be bricking it big time now 😀
RL
He got barged but hit in the jaw and was out cold for a while, but they said later he was Ok but still going to hospital for a precaution
i would rest every “important” player against milan..
let the kids have a go.. the likes of yennaris, miquel, HELL lets start with PARK..IF he scores 5 goals we wont sell him in the summer!!
RL,
you should read Savage’s comments throughout the game on the BBC.
I ask again what happened to diaby,he was playing so well.
that’s what i heard down here to Rocky. Mark “I was the best keeper in the world because i played for Man united” Bosnich reckons that will always be a penalty because szcz left his leg out. Apparently ‘it’s poor keeping technique, and if you leave your leg out like that strikers will fall over it’.
It’s a bloody disgrace that anyone could justify that! how many times did suarez roll around and dive on the ground?! yet not one commentator says a thing. The other week verm was taken out a couple of times after he kicked it, yet the commentators start whinging saying he is looking to get the player carded, and needs to understand this is what competitive football is all about!
Spearing that little hobbit was snapping in all game, and got away with it. Verm does it once to that rat suarez and it’s a yellow. No bloody consistency and it pisses me off!
Thanks Kelsey
All I know about Diaby is the ‘tight hamstring’ comment mentioned earlier.
I doubt AW will have wanted to take him off, with only AMs to replace him, so it must have been necessary.
Oz
If you watch the slo-mo, Szczesny pulls his leg away from the contact.
Incidentally, today was a day when I felt we really missed the BFG. His composure at the back, and in transitioning from defence, would have helped us keep the ball a lot better than we did.
Yep, that’s it Kelsey
The lot that still don’t get it, there’s enough on here.
LB
It was a peach of a pass by Song. I’ve watched his assist for Theo last week a bunch of times and the skill involved in that pass is quite phenomenal.
i completely agree Rocky, just repeating Mark Bosnich. Szcz pulls it back, but Suarez does everything he can to touch it and then flips pulling off the perfect somersault, a 9.5 in technique, but the landing let him down!
Oz
That sort of diving “the Rooney” as it’s known in technical circles is one of the biggest cons in football.
It will never be eradicated until they bring in retrospective punishment for cheats like Bale and Suarez.
You’ve got problems LB
Suarez is an ugly diving wanker.
Beautifully put, Rob. Couldn’t agree more 🙂
come on WBA
GM – BTW, why don’t you book me and Peaches in for perm next match day? That way you can watch all 90mins
Redders
Hope things have gone well today… this result will hopefully add some sugar…
Good call, considering Rooney has baited us with that a few times.
I really don’t understand it, how do they get away with it?! Eduardo was nearly burned at the stake, yet these lot do it continuously with nothing said about them.
My biggest concern is how the ref didn’t see that incident (blocked by kuyt) yet he still payed the penalty. So what is that, the striker gets the benefit of the doubt in those instances?! It can change the shape of matches, titles even yet it happens continuously!
Massive 3pts today.
What a bastard my almost ex is!! Typical Pool supporter!! All the money I have given him and he hangs up on me 🙂
Irish – Robin’s babies? I thought you breed kittens 🙂
Oh, Mr Sharkey! Where have you been?
What’s wrong with RA?
Evonne
He was just going in for some tests today.
Pool..unlucky?
Come off it. Arsenal 3 Liverpool 0. It does help to win games if you score the odd goal.
Ha ha ha
I don’t care me. Three lovely points. Yum Yum 🙂
This game reminded me of so many of ours at home.80% + possession, hit the woodwork and then against the general run of play we concede and lose. Not exactly the same scenario, but maybe lady luck has finally got behind us.
Daglish is re recording Fool on the Hill 🙂
from the BBC: shots ON target liverpol 4 Arsenal 7.
RA,
Echoing Rocky’s comment.
Really hope all went well.
This is from the comments section of a Spud blog:
“Shit anyone else got that nasty sinking feeling? We will now really see what we r made of.Personally, not sure weve got the minerals. Barcodes apart weve been shit for about 6 weeks or so now.”
Great stat Kelsey
They had lots of opportunities but could still only manage 4 shots on target against our 7.
(But I’m guessing that hitting the woodwork doesn’t feature in the ‘on target’ stats)
Right, off out now with a smile on my face and a spring in my step 🙂
Catch you later, fellow arsophiles…
Haha, one more before I go.
Dalglish wants his team to “be ugly and win”.
Has he looked round the mugshots in that team of his?
They put the “ug” in ugly 🙂
Rocky 🙂
enjoy your day all
Hope all went well RA
RA – tests? On Saturday? Must be serious 😦 Take care RA xx
West Brom 0-0 Chelsea
Oooo, was that a three ko?
Oh no, Torres coming on for Chelsea
And we thought spuds is the ugliest side in the premiership..
Rob – they are.
Surprisingly, Song plays more successful through balls than any other player in the Premier League.
ZonalMarking
GOOOOOOOOalll!!!!! Well done WBA!

Can’t anybody give me the stat? GN5? Anybody?
wba 1 up
Is Mereles wearing long sleeves or he has new tattoos?
Oz
How have I got problems?
It just gets worse for the chavs
Haha evonne.
Though I believe Liverpool can challenge them on that one..
Kelsey – only 1 up, they are the better team
LB – Oz has gone to bed
Anybody heard from Harry? I hope he is ok
All over!!! Chavs have lost AGAIN 🙂 And Cashle’s injured. Happy days 🙂
Yesss West Brom
Very good day indeedy
evonne…you are awful, but i like you 😉
Amazing the chavs lost.
Kelsey – thank you, I try 🙂
LB – amazing? They were shite, WBA outplayed them today.
Micky – indeedy 🙂
P45 4 AVB?
I think it is possible to trace back exactly when AVB knew he had lost his job. Do you remember, for let’s say, the first quarter of the season how animated he was, how much every pass seemed to mean so much to him and then all of a sudden it stopped. Since then, like now, he just looks resigned to his fate of going back to Portugal at the end of the season.
Peaches
Do you have a volunteer for tomorrow, it’s write a match report or open a bottle of wine.
Did anyone volunteer the match report while I was gone?
LB – surely you’ve already composed the words to describe how The Divine Mr Song pulls those passes out of his repertoire just so Robin can score another fabulous goal. You must fancy this one surely …. 😉
Jamie Redknap starting to annoy me a bit. Why would we tie down an injury prone striker to a long term deal? It’s only in the last 16 months that RvP has become consistent and I imagine we’ve been asking him to sign for the last 6 months.
By Jamie’s method we would be clamouring to get Diaby on a 4 year contract! We would think the club was mental if that was the case.
Anyway, what a great set of results. Just need a United victory tomorrow and we are laughing!
You see evonne, I am a witch ……..
Mr LB I would be delighted to accept your offer ……..
Oaky doeky.
Looking forward to it, I love your Match Reports ……..
Lots of funny tweets from gooners asking for AVB not to be sacked
How much has abramobitch spunked on managers?
Peaches – you are not a witch, you are a cigarette thief
There were rumours (sorry RA) that Maureen was house hunting in London last week. Spectacular come back of shabby White Broken Heart Lane?
Rumours around, dont know if it is true that it all kicked off in Pool changing room after match ????? 🙂
Dandan – possible. They had very good first half and poor second. Perhaps someone knicked their Carling Cup?
Oh a lovely day, a Dipper supporting mate who i believe has been to see them play precisely once (last weeks CC final) tweeting about being a one man team, to which i replied i’d rather have one that can score compared to a team who can’t. He then followed up with preferring to have one trophy than one man, to which i replied come back win its a league title…22 years and crying with laughter 😀
And chavs lost too, almost a perfect day, now we need United to complete the weekend. 😀 I may even cheer on a Martin O’neill team too.
And as for Jamie Redknapp and spouting about RvP should have been signed up to a LT contract a long time ago, I would like to point to two things:
1) Portsmouth on the brink courtesy of his Dads lucrative and long contracts.
2) Diaby
If RvP had not recovered from his fitness problems for the last 18 months he would be part of the overpaid deadwood that everyone loves to refer to.
Dandan I think it didn’t kick off, Spearing just threw a few toys out of his pram, never has a professional footballer looked so much like he should still be in a pushchair. Toddler in a mans body.
LB 5:16.
“A” Bottle of wine?
I’m on my second bottle of red already.
ARSENAL…ARSENAL….ARSENAL
ARSENAL…ARSENAL….ARSENALLLLLLLL
OH TO…..OH TO BE…. OH TO BE A GOONER.
PREDICTED 3-1 TO US BUT TAKE A 2-1 WIN.
Thats a fantastic win for us.
GIE My pool supporting son wants to know was he throwing Suarez around 🙂
I can hear heavy breathing in North London! It is not Billy Goat Gruff, it is Arsenal breathing down scum’s necks, he he he he he

Evening all.
Cracking write up BR. Agree that Liverpool are a great advert for not spending money, that and working on your style of play is a better option
£35m on Carroll really is the ‘shit transfer’ of all time. Its just so odd because AC is so one dimensional, and his strength (aerial ability) is aligned to a style of play that is pretty much redundant these days.
Add to that Henderson (oh dear) and Downing…and you really have to wonder about Dalglish’s sanity. Normally for the Pools bigger games you don’t see any of those three starting.
30 PL goals all season..?? Same as Wolves, less than Blackburn, West Brom and Fulham. WTF..???
See the RvP clip on the BBC Sports page ? Interviewed after todays game and referring to the upcoming Milan game he said , “impossible is nothing – we´ll give it a go”.
What a guy . Watch it and BELIEVE . I do .
Hi Evonne…..
Mad mad week. Sick as a dog with flu at times, but still had two days in Edinburgh and one in Bristol. I NEVER travel for work, hence I start a new job on Monday, having only started this one in mid Jan !!
Nice end to the week with 3pts at Anfield though….
“The bad news of the day is that Diaby is injured and did his hamstring.
“Benayoun has a small hamstring problem, Gibbs has a problem.
“We look decimated after the game. I don’t know who will be available on Tuesday night.”
Arsene Wenger
poor Diaby, he had a great game. We finally can keep hold of the ball when he came on.
“Impossible is nothing”
Bloody hell that’s good. Thanks onehappygooner
Hi Sharkey,
Long time
Actually, I really hope we rest people against Milan.
Alright Mickey….
I’m in a real quandary over the CL too.
I’m leaning towards giving it up. Stick RVP on the bench and see how we get on by Ht, then use him sparingly.
Great pics Chas. Did you see Robin kissing the Song right foot?
Sharkey,
Although things are looking good in the league, we still have a very fragile team and there’s a long way to go. I simply cannot see us winning the CL, let alone doing that and finishing top four. I think the likes of The Ox, Coq, Miquel etc are possibly more likely to do well against Milan anyway. Most of today’s boys had overseas midweek games on top of today. I would take the three points against the barcodes any day.
Super shot of the disdain on the Verminator’s face.
Haha Micky.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE-pnNnxomY
Having said all that, I am convinced Arsene will play his strongest side against Milan.
He’ll probably lead us to the CL Final and St. Totterigham’s Day 🙂
So cool Chas 🙂
Robin really knows how to show his appreciation to players as well as fans. Absolute Top Gunner.
Sharkey,
…”plain f*ckin embarrassing” 🙂
Eh?
Just Sharkespeare being naughty on another site, Micky.

Ah, that’ll be LG I’m guessing.
If so, I went over about a week ago for a first read in ages. Their leader has completely lost the plot. I think that to justify a rather large hole they’ve dug for themselves, Arsenal losing is preferable. I saw some bloke booted off for coming on apparently “gloating” because Arsenal had won!!!
Sharkey was reacting to the description of Song’s pass as ‘average’.
Peaches
Job done, it is in drafts ready for Rasp’s magic.
Did Sharkey call Song’s pass average, that’s really funny, still I suppose it is a weekly event.
Nice one Sharkey, you know where I am coming from.
Ah, the thorn that is Song 🙂
I imagine there must be issues over Koscielny as well!
Right, this is goodnight from me.
Cheers Chas.
Supporting Arsenal is just sooo damn good, thanks Dad 🙂
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17244582
It’s so funny that Chavs don’t realise the board want them to move because they need better corporate revenue. 18000 seats does not bring that much revenue, but good boxes all round a ground do. That was the master stroke in our stadium, even if it cost some atmosphere.
GIE
What is your guess at the price of an average box per season at the Emirates?
Lol Chas.
I don’t ever post anything there unless something really gets my goat and that really did.
F***ing Wizard of Oz hiding behind a blog curtain and red carding all naysayers. He then starts making out like I’ve disappeared even though my only response to him was to thank him and wish him a good evening.
Alright LB..£6k ??
“Average pass unbelievable finish”
Oh dear or Lol..I’m not even sure any more
Somoene lese sui
Sharkey
Is that a comment from LG?
I would give any of those Sunday League warriors a hundred attempts to make that pass in the time Alex had. I guarantee they would not do it once.
http://www.arsenal.com/platinum/executive-box/executive-boxes-2011/12
LB it states these boxes are for the 11/12 season. And start from £74k + VAT I guess for the ten seater with no hospitality at about £3k +vat per game assuming that’s a whole season price. If it’s for the rest of this season it’s something like £10k + VAT per game which seems too much.
*Someone else said* it was RVPs movement and quality that turned it into a good pass…”anyone else it would have rolled out towards the corner flag.”
Oh the irony.
They completely miss the point that every misplaced pass that they kill Song for could also be down to the lack of anticipation and/or movement on the part of the receiver.
Funniest thing is that Song was always going to have a difficult afternoon after his travels this week, and thats what I absolutely love about Alex…he just keeps trying to play the right way, no matter how ‘his game’ has gone so far.
Its as if he never feels/realises he’s not having a good game. Some do, and then change their game, by simplifying it, avoiding the ball, and generally hiding.
Song is a marvel. He always shows and always wants the ball, and hence he can pull out passes like the one that put Gibbs(?) in round the back, or the masterpass for RVP.
Nice cameo from Diaby today…..
Saying that £15k + VAT for the 12 seater against Milan
http://www.arsenal.com/hospitality/events/champions-league-hospitality-ac-milan
£12.5k + VAT for Chavs for the 10 seater
http://www.arsenal.com/hospitality/events/matchday-hospitality-chelsea
£6.5k + VAT for Villa for the 10 seater
http://www.arsenal.com/hospitality/events/matchday-hospitality-chelsea
All includes 4 course meal, drinks, tea coffee a programme and a corporate gift.
£780 inc vat per person that’s got to be some meal and gift 🙂
Cameo 😀
It’s such a shame but he had some good touches, then when Sagna was down he came over to Lewin and you could see him say something (probably “I hurt somewhere”), Lewin almost double takes. Then a few seconds later he is pulling out of a challenge, then he is off for Ox.
He could have been such a great for us, comparing to RvPs history and current form, would you persist with Diaby?
Loving this :
Too much Seaman see you all later
Ok one more
Sharkey
Apparently Song didn’t get back from Cameroon until yesterday. He can certainly be cut some slack if he was a bit leggy to start with – although it’s a measure of the man that he upped his game in the second half.
The haters just want to hate, they’re not interested in any kind of objective assessment of players.
Come to think of it, most of the players who struggled to recapture last weekend’s form were the ones who had travelled: Song to Cameroon, Benny to Israel, TR7 to Czech Republic…
Agreed Corky…makes todays 3pts all the sweeter.
There’s someone on here (GiE?) who once said that Song sometimes/often seems to start slow and finish strong. When I think of some of his ‘less spectacular’ moments, they usually are in the first 10-15mins.
To clarify, there was no sarcasm intended re ‘Diaby’s cameo’. I genuinely was glad of the reminder of just how good he can be.
Keep or sell….no brainer for me. Keep 100%
There was a vid on 101GG of his individual perf against Bosnia. In the clip the whistle went and I thought wow, what a game he had. Oops,..that was half time. He was incredible that day…he simply ran the show from start to fionosh, going from box to box like a souped up hybrid of Vieira and Cesc.
Its on 101 Great goals .com…but I couldn’t see a search bar.
Night all
It was me Sharkey who said that about Song.
I just get the impression he is a very laid back guy, it kind of works for him tho as he gets through 90 minutes at that pace. Whereas Adam ran round very quickly at the start but tired legs led to tired passes, whereas to play that pass in the 92nd minute of a tough game you need to have some fitness.
I have no problem with Song playing those kind of passes, if we lose possession there it wouldn’t be a biggy, where he can infuriate me is taking too many touches and not moving the short ball quickly enough. Altho as I said a few weeks ago it comes with confidence and players around him offering short options quickly too.
I’d keep Diaby if the management are sure it’s not a mental thing which now I really am starting to wonder. He quickly got into the game today and I was excited to see it.
I’ve just read the pre match (superb as usual) I’m in the process of watching the game on football first. It sounds like matt le tissier co commentating and he says it’s a dive. I love the way suarez pulls down his sock to emphasize he’d tacken a knock on the shin. I don’t think he’s any more of a cheat as rooney or gerrard though they are all dogshit filth. I think there are some good performances in this game although they,re not playing as a team as much as they did on Sunday. I’m beginning to really dislike the scouse bastards. I don’t even read the haters anymore. Most of them are retards anyway.
Diaby will take time to get a consitsent, injury free period. He’s a great player when he’s on song. I think Robin will sign. I couldn’t imagine him going to anothert English club.
Alex Song is hands down brilliant, and if there are muppets on LG dismissing him, that’s just one more reason for me not to bother visiting. Well done to Sharky for righting the wrongs though!
Diaby. Blimey, what a conundrum. Rob Lucci was on the button, saying that our midfield really stabilised when Diaby came on today. But these injuries are beyond a joke. It’s undeniable that Diaby has used up a valuable, well-paid slot in our squad; what have we lost in terms of developing the squad while we’ve persisted with Diaby? That’s impossible to judge, but just picking one player for comparison: Walcott is three years younger but has already played 50 more games than Diaby.
I really hope I’m proved wrong, because Diaby has real talent and at 26 there’s still time for him, but watching him go off after 25 minutes in his first match for six months had me shaking my head. I just think we should wish him luck and cut our losses.
I’d like to challenge the idea that we were that lucky, winning today. Yes, Liverpool dominated in the first half but they failed to translate that into enough really clear chances. Their goal came from a poor cross from Henderson that Kos screwed up and they won a pen from a dive. Kuyt hitting the post was good, but despite Suarez’s brilliance in his slaloming run through our defence, he ended up with an opening that he was stretching for. And his post-strike was from a very tough angle. Liverpool had 14 attempts today but only four on target and also got 13 corners (to our zero). Yes, Szczesny was awesome today, but those figures suggest a lack of a killer instinct. And if you want to see what they were missing, what better evidence is there than Sagna’s cross, Song’s pass and van Persie’s finishing?
We didn’t play well today, probably as others have said due to tiredness, but the better team won.
Song is a very good player who could. Ecome a great with a pacey partner at DM.
I was talking to my Brother at half time. He was fuming that we were playing poor again to which I disagreed.
There was so many things going on off the ball and late challenges which Halsey turned a blind eye to. I said to my Brother these things make it almost unplayable against an opponent who are allowed to get away with it.
I wouldn’t be so annoyed if it went both ways but our players were conceding free kicks for nothing.
There was a foul given away by Rosicky right on the half way line, his studs were up bu the clearly got ball only, fair enough a foul was called.
The real bummer was that within minutes Shearing studded Rosicky in the shins. Halsey was a couple of yards away and clearly sighted.
Guess what? Not even a foul given. I can’t stand cheating and to see their players diving around just as the Spuds did last week then them getting away with coming in late and shoving elbowing and off ball incidents really gets me wanting to call it a day watching football.
Great result, brilliant goals from RVP and outstanding keeping from Chessers.
Still angry about the Refs.
Diaby should be sold.
He looked great in the few minutes he has played but imagine someone like Goetze or Gourcuff in that role. The wages would be similar and you will get a far more potent and consistent player.
Even if we didn’t sign anyone I would rather see the Ox and Rambo than Diaby.
agree El Tel and 26. He was out for 4 months with a hamstring injury and then it happens again. Yes when he came on he was quite good, but at those wages when is it time to just call it a day. He is just blocking a spot for another player or even someone like lansbury. The kid has be playing really well in the under 21’s for quite some time now (somehow in the under 21’s tournament he wasn’t a starter, yet when he came on he always changed the game).
I feel bad for him because it’s not his fault, it’s a lot on money to be paid for not playing.
Morning all agree with El Tel about the decisions, Halsey should be a good guy for us, I seem to remember it being publicised that when he was suffering his illness Wenger contacted and visited him, the club did stuff for him too. Maybe he doesn’t like to appear to favour us?
But what I noticed with the Liverpool players more than the wreckless challenges was the “hands on and let go” I think this comes from their coach Steve Clark as Chelsea were also masters. When an opponent is set to receive the ball and during first touch they put hands on the opponent, pushing or pulling not with enough force to pull them over but enough to upset balance/pace it gives their teammates enough time to gather round and rarely draws a free kick. Kelly got penalised for this on Gibbs because he held on too long, and Carra tried to do it to RvP for the first goal, you see him pull RvP then try to push him forward. Adam was at it all game in the centre of the park.
Those 3 points were absolutely huge.
I wonder how Kuyt feels today as he definitely took resoonsibilty for the penalty as Adam looked like he wanted to take it as he marched to the spot ball in hand pointing to himself. 😀
Morning all, I can face Match of the Day again 🙂 Love the programme after a win 🙂 come on you Gunners
Alen Hansen has given Arsenal 10 out of 10 for digging in and trying!!! Bloody hell, I thought I’d never see the day 🙂
Nice day 4 a post!
…nice day to stay in watching footy 🙂
Hodgson at WBA vs Dalgleish at LFC
Dalgleish has spent how much and his team lie 4 points above Hodgsons WBA who have hardly spent anything.
I think the players at LFC never took to Hodgson but you have to wonder what he could do with a team of talent who respected him as he has always got more than expected from
solid pros.
Morning GiE – you don’t like Kenny, do you? Lying naked in central circle 🙂
Yeah, Roy Hodgson is a good manager and a terrific guy. WBA were by far the better team yesterday.
AVB’s nose is getting redder and redder, he must be drinking heavily waiting for his marching orders
That Polak Szczesny did well yesterday, but Southhampton’s goalie Kelvin Davis was absolutely unbelievable. They’ll be in EPL next season and he is the one to watch out for, would like to see him versus Boy Wonder
…come on dogs, walkies, nobody talking to mum
Haha Evonne, Szczesney is a Gooner Szczesney is a Gooner Na Na Na Na Oi Na Na Na.

OK GiE,
That is just plain weird
Morning.
Here’s an interesting post I found last night.
“To all those who support dalglish: Kenny has won just 1 more game in his first 26(10) , than roy did in his first 24(9). We’ve got 13 points in our last 16 games, just as much as roy got in his first 13 games, yet one got axed, one gets unwavering support.”
Makes me think that Liverpool fans have a case of Messiah Syndrome, ala Newcastle and Kevin Keegan.
I’m not sure the owners will give him more than another year without CL footbal
As good as a goal…..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B31AqV1kjE
Kelsey interesting numbers there, do you think the FA Cup will buy more time if they win it?
To me he looks like someone beginning to realise why he left football in the first place.
Think Hodgsons numbers will be skewed by Europa too which they weren’t really going for. But for me LFCs football (as I said earlier) has more to do with Clark than Dalgleish not just the dark arts its the kind of direct football that did for Chelsea so well, unlike Liverpool Chelsea had a very clinical and efficient front man in Drogba.
Possibly GIE,
Hodgeson wasn’t the right man for a “big club” he admitted himself. Liverpool have spent 109 million since KD took over and two of those buys were gambles in Adam and Carroll. They need a bigger stadium and more investment. Many clubs think that former players that were idols will automatically make good managers,.Does that actually happen these days.Liverppol are not Chelsea and I think KD will be given time.
Another interesting fact with our defence is that we have used 26 different combinations this season, which is remarkable.
I want to talk about RVP and his future but will leave that until later on today.
Kelsey I think its a debate for a whole other day, perhaps you could write a post on it
I have been thinking about it myself, its a finely balanced situation, 28 now, 29 when contract ends, how long and how much should we offer him? Arguably if its about money we’re going to need to throw him £200k per week. But on top of that he is going to want his last big set up for life contract….so how many years 3/4? Is that a good decision having a 32 year old centre forward on £200k per week?
Morning Happy Happy People 🙂
