There was much talk yesterday of the goalkeeping position. Today’s news seems to focus upon the arrival of Chamakh (supposedly) in just 11 days time. And a French striker called Remy (now there is a drink!) begging Wenger to sign him. And then there is Sakho at PSG who we are led to believe is a Wenger target.
However, what interests me this morning is Jack Wilshere, having watched him grow at Bolton – a team that prior to the arrival of Owen Coyle was a typical kick and run side, with the emphasis on kick. Wilshere has flourished. He plays the full 90 minutes, doesn’t appear to be flustered and has become the creative force in the Bolton side. Bolton have hugely improved as a team since JW’s arrival which considering he has just turned 18 is remarkable. The fans love him, the manager has already asked Wenger to extend his loan, and there is even talk (just in the media) of a possible call-up for England. Let us hope not, the last World Cup put back one of our players developments and we do not need that to happen again!
Is Jack that good? Having watched the last 2 Bolton games, I can say that he appears to have everything bar physical presence, and sadly, Little Jack Wilshere is always going to be little. However, he is the same size as Maradona and Messi.
Can Wilshere play in the current Arsenal set-up? This is more difficult because we are awash with technical, skillful players. JW is not blessed with pace and is not a winger. He is not as good as Fab4 in the creative midfield role. He enjoys a tackle and his vision is excellent but he hasn’t the presence and power of Song. His natural position is floating behind the strikers, the role Nasri or Rosicky take at present, however if I were to be Arsenal manager (and I would love to be), I would play Arshavin in this position. So, there are potentially three players ahead of Wilshere for this position (not counting Diaby).
What is clear is that Wilshere is gaining valuable experience and I would like him to extend his loan at Bolton. Coyle is the right man to educate him, Kevin Davies is a fine role model of how to make the most of one’s talents , and Bolton are attempting to play football in the right spirit.
We have a diamond coming through, the first real English talent from Project Youth. Wenger is a patient man, he knows all about Wilshere’s abilities and is the right man to be in charge of the next England great. The last Englishman to excite at this tender age was Gascoigne and there are similarities between JW and Gazz’a game, let’s hope he doesn’t suffer the difficulties that destroyed Gascoigne’s career.
I believe some players will have to leave before young Jack gets a regular first team slot, but rest assured Jack Wilshere is the real deal.
p.s. Forza City ……
Arsenal News 24/7

Sorry about the late post. Sometimes life gets in the way of Arsenal….. sad but true!
Morning Raddy,
Thats a great read, thanks for coming to the rescue!
Before I read your piece, I would have said, no defifnitely don’t put him out on loan next season, we need a player with some grit after recent performances – but your analysis has changed my mind. If it is possible, I would like to see a loan deal up to Christmas, with the proviso that we can recall him at any point if needed – but I can’t see Bolton going for that.
I’m hoping Ramsay will be fit for the start of next season and I’d like to see him played in place of Denilson as appeared to be AW’s plan up to his injury.
he needs to startrregularly for us next season the more games and starts he gets the better he will become,he needs the same amount of starts that denilson and song got,it will take him half the time to become a better player then both of them put together.
Thanks for the comment Forza ma non sono d’accordo.
JW is not ready for the team. He is nowhere near the standard of Nasri ….. yet. He needs PL games and he is getting them. I do not believe AW would trust JW next year.
I agree with Rasp, an extended loan with a proviso for an instant return. With a fit Ramsey and JW, plus the possible arrival of a CB/DM, Denilson is history
Agree. He is a fab prospect, but I think he needs more time to grow. Owen Coyle genuinely appears to have a fondness for JW, and I have no doubt that under him Jack will flourish. There are some v good players at Bolton (wouldn’t have said that under Fat Sam) who will aid his progression.
On the subject of great midfielders, let’s hope that Rambo comes back even better. PS. AW – please buy Scott Parker – a man with guts who never loses his appetite for a scrap.
I had thought that JW should go straight into the team but reading Raddy and th14’s comments I’ve changed my mind. I like the thought of him developing with less pressure on, against the same defenders and midfielders he will play against for Arsenal.
I just noticed Rasp said the same thing – clearly great minds think alike 😉
Wenger shud xtend is loan wit bolton cos i cn feel his a potential player 4 arsenal.
Perhaps we could extend the loan and in exchange Bolton drop the asking price for Cahill.
Dont think he is ready to play week in week out for Arsenal. Another season of first team football at Bolton would be good. Plus if he is playing for them he is unlikely to get his leg broken!
Good point Vivas, welcome to AA.
I’m not sure about Cahill, he ticks a lot of boxes, but I suspect there may be someone better out there who we can afford.
Were you a fan of Nelson Vivas?
Always liked Nelson Vivas. Like a Grimandi mark II. Not too much skill but a lot of heart and passion.
Yes, I was a fan of the grimster, a hard working ‘utility player’ who never got the credit he deserved but always did a job and gave 100%.
Nice post Raddy,
Agree hed be better served at Bolton for the time being (who would have ever thought and Arsenal fan would have said that) Coyles going to go on to good things in my view and hes got them playing decent football which Wilsheres certainly seeming to enjoy, The kids a natural and will have a long long future at the Top of the game and hopefully with us so lets leave him to play regular football for the time being, And if we could get Cahill into the bargain all the better 😉
Cahill isa very good call
Afternoon all, well done Raddy really good call, cant argue with any of that. Plus the extra Bonus for us with LJ being at Bolton is Coyle will encourage his football and his players will learn from Jack, whilst a few of the hard lads there will teach Jack how to look after himself much to our advantage when he comes home.
Does AW’s latest quote suggests that Cahill or Parker are in his thinking? “It looks to me like the big teams with big financial potential like Man City, like Chelsea might go abroad. So if they move abroad the internal market will be a bit cheaper.”
OK I know Cahill isn’t English but I assume AW means players already here and not from big European leagues.
I think you are right Alfa. Or could he be referring to a GK?
One never knows with the master of Illusion. It is all smoke and mirrors!
I think we need a joke……. Robinho 🙂
Seems a hell of a long time since we beat Celtic.
Good post Raddy which I agree with but we might need JW in our squad to qualify on that new rule re. so many home/young players?
Other than that it crossed my mind that Coyle might be good for Arsenal in the future given another year & thy could both come across, unless either AW sorts our lot out this summer or we can drag Guardiola or Hiddink?
Lets hope the Spuds have been feasting on Italian food again.
I’ve changed my mind, I certainly could not live with hearing from spud chums about them being in the champs league and overtaking us.
Up the City.
You have seen the light SfH 😀
The spuds should never play in the CL – come on citeh
The chavs should never do the double – come on Pompey
Maureen should not win the CL again – come on Bayern
None of the top 3 parties deserve our vote – come on the jedi knights 🙄
Come on paddy son backed you on betfair at 44/1 to score first remember how much you hate the scum and bang one in for us 🙂 I couldn’t resist before you ask lol !
Great post Rasp.
A perfect Quadruple
Chippy, you are a brave lad with your money.
Come on Paddy indeed, he was MOTM last game for City aswell, so seems to have regained some premiership form.
Looking forward to this game.
Haha Raddy just a little fun bet nothing serious, makes the game s bit more fun and you never know 😉
SFH Yes by all accounts villa was his best game fir city so let hope he carrys it over to tonight!
I have changed my mind. It’s a womans privelage
BR,
nearly 1.18 to the GBP and still going up. Best result of the day.
Must get the cake out of the oven before my other half gets home.
Have put a post in draft Rasp and sent Peaches a copy.
Cheers dandan – we’ve got two for tomorrow now 🙂 , I’ve emailed you
It’s ridiculous, I’m feeling really nervous about tonight and we’re not even playing 🙄
Hope it is a cake and not a bun Kels. LOL
Gonna be an attacking game I think,
A game of two keepers Fulop v Gomes 😉
Come on City …..
Gomes is outstanding, I feel sick.
meanwhile there is a party political broadcast going on , on one of the other channels 😉
You were right Kelsey.
Gomez is excellent. Good game so far, and I still take City for the win
Not here 😉
Ha ha Kelsey I reckon I was involved in that 😉
As well as trying to have a debate on An other site but they ate having none of it 🙂
Gomes is back to the form he showed at PSV when he single handedly knocked us out goes to show tho maybe there’s a future for fab yet as Gomes was truly awful at the start at tottenham,
fair dos they’ve been all over city typical of them to lose now then paddy 1-0 anyone 🙂
sickener.
bellamy has no shame.. anybody see that cheeky cosy up to redknapp at the FT whistle?
he wants CL footy, and he aint going to get it at THOF or chav.manure
Spurs in the top 4.
Horrible news.
Dreadful result.
Fairplay Kelsey, you called it right. I the end it was Gomes v Fulop.
I have to say that Gomes must be a candidate for the most improved player in the PL, whilst we are flapping around with three keepers who for various reasons are either not good enough, too inexperienced or just plain not good enough.
I would argue that although we were decemated with injuries, a top class keeper would have gained us several points this season.
It’s not the only issue, but to me highly relevant.
Morning kelsey,
I’d go further than that, I’d say that based on the second half of this season, Redknapp has assembled a more balanced squad of players and got them to do the basics better than we do. I hate them, but they deserve to be where they are.
Morning all, so the doomsday scenario has come to pass – the Spuds are in the Champions league and the threat to our third spot is now palpable.
I don’t know why but I’m feeling quite angry at our team and manager – they have contrived to lower our standards down to that of the Supds and we now find ourselves in a scrap for the automatic Champions League spot (3rd place.)
The next season can’t come soon enough – the last 3 weeks have sucked all the joy out of supporting my team.
Chary,
But look on the brightside maybe just maybe The Boards claret didnt taste quite as nice last night as they cannot even sell finishing miles clear of Tottenham as an excuse for not winning anything all there excuses for next year have already bitten the dust in the last month,
In a way im quite glad the Dam has burst as we have been papering over cracks for a few seasons and just getting by but now we will see there True intentions in my View,
Morning chary,
I’ve always said that managers/players/bloggers should not make pronouncements when angry … but that’s bull – there is an honesty in the comments of an angry person that may lead to excessive exaggeration but reveals an underlying belief. We’re all angry this morning and I believe Arsène must shoulder the large part of the blame for the failings in the team.
There is no way I’m going to the Emirates Cup this year. I think I’d throw up if I saw our players parading round the pitch holding that meaningless trophy aloft again. We don’t even get to play all 3 other teams and we’ll be resting the majority of the first team after their exertions in the WC.
I’m trying to find an upside to last night’s result Chippy, maybe that the Spuds get thrashed in the pre-qualifier? The trouble is if we lose on Sunday(with the Fulham players desperate to play for their places at Hamburg) we could end up in the pre qualifier.
I’d like to think that our end of season collapse would be a wake-up call to the board and players, but no – after Wigan we got another woeful capitulation at Blackburn.
Our sorry rabble of players have had warning after warning and nothing seems to have changed.
We’ve been guilty of overcomplicating the game and ignoring the basics for 3 or 4 years now. We don’t attack at pace any more, we’ve systematically removed the players instinct to shoot and we’ve ignored the defensive frailties.
Raspers, it’s odd I’m angry today whereas I was merely disappointed after Monday. It’s the feeling that we’ve been dragged down to the level of the Spuds that’s the worst thing; scratch that the way things are going we’ll have to aspire to the Spuds level, they showed spades more guts/determination on their trip to the north west than our bunch of pampered, underachieving slackers have.
Morning Arsenal Angries
Theres a NEW POST
