Spain vs England in the final?

The annoying Spanish team will take on the disappointing French team tomorrow evening while England will face the resurgent Dutch on Wednesday evening.

Spain has been the dominant team in this Euro, playing an attractive brand of football with great wingers in Yamal and Williams and a solid midfield spearheaded by Rodri, well accompanied by Ruiz and now Olmo (Pedri is out). Overall, Spain is the favourite to win the tournament but the good news for the rest of the pack, and especially France, is that Spain concedes chances so it is a matter of putting these chances away when you get them. So France will not only need to block the Spanish team ability to create chances but also have to do something they have not done so far, which is to score from open play….Given the above, I think that it will not be a bad idea to change our shape again OR to drop Griezmann and eventually Mbappe to the bench and bring in Barcola instead:

  • Maignan – Kounde, Upamecano, Saliba, Hernandez – Ngolo, Tchouameni, Rabiot (or Camavinga) – Kolo Muani, Mbappe, Barcola OR
  • Maignan – Kounde, Upamecano, Saliba, Hernandez – Kolo Muani, Kante, Tchouameni, Rabiot, Camavinga – Mbappe

The idea is to block Yamal (Camavinga, Hernandez), Williams (Ngolo, Kounde) and to put some pressure on their right back and Laporte…Let us see

The other semi final will see the Three Lions take on the Oranje! The English should have enough to beat the Dutch. The Dutch main danger man has been Gakpo so it will be interesting to see how England blocks that Dutch’s left wing and they have also been dangerous through the middle with bursting runs from deep but I think that England is just the better team overall and is more solid. This England team really reminds me France 98, with the quality, belief and also even the way they are qualifying:

  • France 98: Hard extra-time game against Paraguay to qualify for the quarters, then beat Italy on penalties…
  • England 24: Hard extra-time game against Slovakia to qualify for the quarters, then beat Switzerland on penalties…

In a perfect world, England would face France in the final but it seems that we are heading towards a Spain-England and I am really joping for an England win, especially for our Starboy and Rice-Rice baby…

Allez les Bleus! Come on England!

Even if it is just at the PK session…I don’t care, I just want to see this game through and set up a final with England so that I can have one of my teams win the EURO but ideally, it has to be France 😛

The main thing is that Deschamps (like Southgate) sets up the team to be hard to beat and then expect us to score on the counter, set piece…We really have to be careful against this Spanish team, they are a well drilled machine…

Meanwhile, it seems that Calafiori (Riccardo Calafiori Football Statistics | WhoScored.com) will join us. He will come in most likely as a replacement to Kiwior and basically as a very strong back up to Gabriel…so our defensive line up will be as follows:

White (RB, CB), Tomyasu (RB, CB)

    Saliba (CB-R), Gabriel (CB-L), Calafiori (CB-L, LB)

    Timber (LB), Zinchenko (LB, CM-L)

We may not be looking for another CB as White and Tomyasu could step in but I would not mind us grabbing Wilfried Singo and then loaning him out back to Monaco. He has huge potential at RB and CB-R and should be closely closely monitored – he is a real force of nature. Calafiori has a good passing range and is also strong in the air so he could help us shore things up at the back but also with his long passes and on corner kicks. I was looking more at Scalvini but Sclavini suffered a serious injury so Calafiori seems like a good option.

In midfield, we should be looking at Koopmeiners as he would also be a very good signing, meeting Arteta’s philosophy and requirements. Hard working midfielder, a good passing and shooting range – big engine. He would be a very strong addition to our midfield but here are other players to be considered like Douglas Luiz, Guimares, Fofana, Onana, Gallagher, Gibbs-White, Simons, Lovric,

    Jorginho, Partey, Rice, Koopmeiners, Odegaard

    + ESR (?), F. Vieira (?)

Anyways, this is for another post…

    Allez Les Bleus!

Nketiah to join Greenwood (maybe Auba as well) in Marseilles…?

Come on England! Remember the danger is Gakpo…There is scope to annoy Dumfries, De Vrij and Ake…

    Stay with a back three…

Play: Pickford – Walker, Stones, Guehi (or Konsa) – Saka, Mainoo, Rice, Trippier – Bellingham – Palmer, Kane

I think Palmer should start, he is in a good place right now and Foden can come in, as required.

Dutch will play usual team, except maybe Malen may start instead of Bergwin

2-1 for England with Kane and Palmer on the score sheet and Van Dijk or Depay for the Dutch…

1 assist for Trippier and 1 for Bellingham
