Clearly, Man City could field two teams that can effectively compete for the EPL and Cups…
Although, we were close to land the trophy this year, we still fell short and many people point out our limited depth in key areas. In 2022, we missed Saliba so much in the last run-in and this year, we missed some spark off the bench to turn some games around or to finish some games off…
So what are the key areas we need to strengthen?
- We will definitely need to replace Ramsdale at GK
- We will definitely need to add a CB to really challenge the Saliba-Gabriel pair
- Partey is a very good player when fully fit and with rhythm but he has not been fully fit or game ready for many games since he joined us from Spain. We will definitely need to bring in a solid CM/DM that can play 30 games for us easily.
- RN, ESR, Vieira have not been able to contribute to our team’s effectiveness this year so we will definitely need to invest in a FW that can play on the right side, as we cannot keep on over playing Saka.
- G. Jesus and E. Nketiah have not had a stellar season by any means and we may need to offload 1 this summer so we will need to bring in a FW that can play through the center as well.
We need to invest in very strong squad players so as to match City and to a certain extent Liverpool and even Chelsea, Utd and Villa…
So that is a minimum of 5 players: 1 starter (DM/CM), 4 squad players.
Back-Up GK: Sels? Casteels?
Squad CB: Branthwaithe, Scalvini, Tarkowsky, Singo,
Starting DM/CM: D. Luiz, B. Guimares, Palhinha, De Roon, Koopmeiners, Zubimendi, Y.Fofana, Zielinski, Cook, Goretzka, Sabitzer
Squad FWR: N. Williams, I. Williams, M. Olise, L. Bailey, J. Harrison, J. Bowen, Mbeumo, Neto
Squad FWC: Zirkzee, Wind, Sorloth, Guruzeta, Gudmundsson, Solanke, Ben Yedder
The lists are long and I am sure there are plenty of other players on the radar but here are the names that come through my mind for now…
So where do you think we need to strengthen and who should join us?
Totally unrelated but the Netherlands has announced its final EURO squad and they have a very solid defense and an excising forward line…the GK and midfielders are not fantastic but if they can keep clean sheets, they have enough fire power to nick some results. A dark horse for the Euro…
Biljouw – Ake, Van Dijk, De Vrij, Dumfries – De Jong, Koopemeiners, Veerman – Bergwin, Depay, Frimpong
Subs: Fleken – Gertruda, De Ligts, Van den Veen, Blind – – Gravenberg, Wijnaldum, Simon – Brobbey, Gakpo, Malen,
+ Weghorst
It is a solid team…
how u like France chances this year RC
I don’t like France’s chances at all, Fred…
Our best GK has been injured for a while and still is…
Our defense is shaky, especially at RB but also our CB pairs are not solid enough.
Main concern is our midfield. Tchouameni is injured, Camavinga and Rabiot losing steam and we had to call back Kante who plays in the Saudi League…
Going forward, Griezmann is looking jaded, Mbappe has been sidelined and lost some rhythm in the last 4 months and Giroud is not eternal…Kolo Muani does not know what football means so we will have to hope Thuram and Dembele can provide some goals and assists as we are also not sure about Coman’s fitness level…
Deschamps will play his usual 433 but I think he should really consider a 3-4-1-2 set-up this time…
Deschamps’ starting line up if all are fit:
Maignan – Clauss, Upamecano, Konate, T. Hernandez – Griezmann, Tchouameni, Rabiot – Coman, Giroud, Mbappe
mine:
Maignan – Pavard, Saliba, Konate – Clauss, Tchouameni, Fofana, Hernandez – Griezmann – Thuram, Mbappe
If we make it to the semis, I would be surprised.
The heavy favourite for me is England and then I think we cannot discard teams like Germany, Netherlands and Spain.
what you guess think about us not renewing miedema contract
Huge mistake…
What about you? What do you think of our squad for next year and about the Euro?
for euros hopefully France can pull it off but more wishful thinking
England really has a great chance this year think there the favorite right?
as u said we need some depth
probably a new LB actually wants us to get cancelo last year
ST but not really sure who so don’t mind havertz being the man man next year
and at CM/CDM think that would depend on if partey is fit and how we intend to utilize Rice if he would be the holding CDM or the advance one
England only has a few question marks for the Euro:
Otherwise, the team is really strong and now is experienced playing together under Southgate…
Pickford – Walker, Stones, Guehi?, Trippier (?) – Rice, Mainoo – Saka, Bellingham, Foden – Kane
Ramsdale – Trent, Maguire, Gomez, Shaw – Jones, Gallagher – Bowen, Palmer, Maddisson – Watkins
+ Henderson, Grealish, Toney (or Gordon or Eze)
Can’t find a better squad in Europe. Even the second team is strong.
CL Football is a game with 22players on the pitch and in the end, Real Madrid wins…6 CL in the last 11 years…It is in their DNA…
Real was second best for about 60 minutes of the game and Dortmund missed some big chances in the first half…and then on a set-piece, Real Madrid takes the lead and then, there is really only way this final was going to end…A silly mistake by a Dortmund player and an awkward finish by Vini and the game is over…2-0 and Real brings the Cup back home…
Real Madrid Player Ratings:
CL team of the season:
yea it was inevitable, Dortmund third finals in a few recent years sigh
The official CL team of the season has been named:
Kobel – Carvajal, Rudiger, Hummels, Maatsen – Sabitzer, Vitinha – Bellingham – Foden, Kane, Vini
Players that could have been nominated too are: Kroos, Musiala, Mbappe
I think these team reflect their passion well
I am hoping Zidane signs for a club now, it has been long…Also hope to see Tuchel on a bench…
Tottenham release Perisic…He is definitely passed his prime but his attitude and work ethics can be useful in Cup Games, especially…He could be a good recruit, not for us but for a team like Fulham for example
