Carabao Cup – a potential trophy or a playground to learn?

How will Arteta approach this Cup this season? Does it see it as a potential trophy or more of a playground to learn and give minutes to squad players? Based on his pre-match interview, it seems he is leaning towards the second option..I think he needs to find the right balance in any case…

Brentford away is not an easy tie in the EPL and I d say even worse as a cup tie so we are in for a tough game.

Here is my preferred line up:

Ramsdale – Tomy, Kiwior, Gabs, Cedric – El Neny, Jorginho – RN, Havertz, ESR – Eddie

Most likely line up:

Ramsdale – Cedric, Kiwior, Gabs, Tomy – El Neny, Jorginho – RN, Vieira, ESR – Havertz

Predicted score: 3-1 for Brentford

So a hard fought win in the end, courtesy of a goal from RN assisted by Eddie…

A well managed first half and then just shoring up the defence and trying to contain the Brentford waves…

Outstanding performance from Ramsdale and a very good performance from RN too. It was nice to see ESR as a starter and he did well for 50 mins, can’t wait to see more of him. Was a nice surprise to see Sagoe start as well. Only downside is that Havertz struggled again to make an impact and he appeared to slow our attacks down and also lost the ball more often than usual.

    Ramsdale – 8.5
    White – 7
    Kiwior – 7
    Gabs – 7
    Tomy – 7
    Jorginho – 7
    ESR – 7
    Havertz – 5
    Sagoe – 6
    Eddie – 7
    RN – 8

Another positive note was to see El Neny on the pitch again.
