Disappointment in the NLD!

What a disappointing outcome in the NLD! It really feels like two points lost. Spurs played a good game for sure but we were the better team for large part of the game and we gave away two leads and two goals very cheaply, especially the second one…

Anyways, not too much to write about:

Raya – 7

White – 6

Saliba – 6

Gabs – 6

Zinc – 6

Rice – 6

Vieira – 5

Ode – 6

Saka – 8

G. Jesus – 7

Nketiah – 6

Subs: 6, except Jorginho: 4

One thing we have learned for sure is that we cannot cope with injuries to both Martinelli and Trossard and that Arteta is not afraid of making changes (Rice out after 45 mins…)…

COYG…We gotta go and win at at White Hart Lane now.

Man City meanwhile seems unstoppable

Some names to keep in mind from the L1 (besides the usual Fofana, Thuram…) regarding the midfielder position:
    – Ugarte, defensive mid at PSG from Uruguay;
    – Ndayishimiye, also a defensive mid but playing for Nice and from Burundi.

I won’t be surprised if clubs go after them in June. It will be hard to take Ugarte from PSG but Ndayishimiye bay be tempted by the EPL. He is very solid. He is not there but if he develops well, stays healthy…He can be someone in between Essien and Kante.

    Thanks RC,
It is hard to write a report after this disappointment.
We were below our usual self. Jesus, Øde, Jorghino, Eddie even Saka had fustrating performances in different situations. Raya also made a mistake before the first goal.
I might be wrong but I feel that the GK situation destabilizing the whole team. There is not much between Raya and Ramsdale so suddenly being out of the team without real reason could be damaging and brings out bad taste and create insecurity.
Arteta is still learning on the job.

Hi Las…right with you on the below performance…maybe also our legs were tired…we need more rotation…but how do you rotate between Dortmund and Spurs….? Tough

  4. RC78's avatar RC78 says:

    Timber has a knew injury
    Rice has a back injury
Partey, Martinelli and Trossard with muscles injuries too

5 major players missing already!!! We just started the season and the “2-3 games per week” schedule…

We also missed G. Jesus at the beginning of the season…

And finally, neither Vieira or Havertz are making a case for themselves in the LCM position…When Partey comes back, I hope we can shift him or Rice in that position OR hope that Arteta gives a chance to ESR there…

    Ode, Partey, Rice
    Ode, Rice, Partey
    Ode, Rice, ESR

  5. RC78's avatar RC78 says:

Ramsdale – White, Saliba, Gabs (or Tim), Zinc – Ode, Rice, Partey – Saka, G. Jesus, Martinelli

Raya – Tomy, Kiwior, Tim (Or Gabs), Cedric – Vieira, Jorgi, El El Neny – Trossard, Eddi, ESR (or RN)

If we miss 5 players, the team starts to look more frail indeed…

  6. RC78's avatar RC78 says:

Sorry, totally forgot Kai…He can be in lieu of El Neny…

I would like to see ESR and Reiss in the team more often as Eddie, Havertz and Viera were not offering much more than cameos. And that is not enough. We play twice a week there is a need for rotation so I hope ESR will get a handful of games.

Vieira has been good as a sub, not so great as a starter.
Kai has yet to find his rhythm with us, no meaningful contribution so far but I d play him in the upcoming Cup game to be honest.

As for Eddie, he is doing his best. It is just that his best is not as good as Haaland…but can’t fault him.

I definitely want to see more of ESR and am really hoping that Partey, Trossard and Martinelli come back very soon.

Despite agreeing with much of your assessment, RC, it must be clear that Totteringham were fitter than us ( no mid-week European game), more aggressive than us ( with a ref happy to let that aggression continue), and simply stopped us from playing OUR game. Our press did not work, except when Jesus robbed Maddison and unbelievably did not score. Their press did work, and more than once Raya’s long ball failed under pressure. Bissouma was immense and Rice not returning after half time produced the massive hole that Jorginho could not fill.
However hard it is to admit, Spursey have some really impressive additions to their starting eleven. ( The tall Dutch centre back did not put a foot wrong bar a mis-hit clearance right at the end).
Our injuries are starting to be significant. Saka may have also picked up something. But hopefully we will pick up on Wednesday and then, with a win at Bournemouth, restore the positivity for the big one.
Best news of weekend, Rhodri out for our game.

The thing is exactly that: Tottenham had a good game with its full squad and we had an OK game with some injuries. Overall, Spurs are a good and well managed squad. They will be in the Top 4 and Cup mix for sure, especially with Utd and Chelsea wavering a bit…

At the moment, Liverpool seems the closest to rival Man City and then I suppose it is us and Spurs…Newcastle finding form too and I am quite sure that Brighton won’t finish Top 4 in the end.

Let us hope we get our players back, especially Partey, Rice and either Tro or Gabi M
