Brazil cruise and Belgium stutter – England take on Colombia

Brazil comfortably saw off the Mecicanos.

The Japanese put up a sterling fight against the Belgians, just falling short at the last.

Sweden vs the Swiss is as hard to call as the England game. Any of the 4 teams could end up in the semis.

Colombia have suddenly become a great team since qualification for the round of 16 ………….. equals England fans preparing themselves in case the national side let us all down.

However, I detect a new confidence amongst Gareth’s boys. Should be interesting!

    Cheers Chas

Still trying to work out Eddie’s Shakespearean revenge comment

Anyhow, will give the first game a swerve in order to be football fresh for this evening

  2. chas's avatar chas says:

It was certainly a Shakespearean tragedy for the Japanese.

  7. Eddie's avatar Eddie says:

revenge is a dish best served cold. Germany, Italy and Japan out of the world cup. that will learn them to attack the allies

  8. Eddie's avatar Eddie says:

Gareth is a top block. Everyone loves him. Waistcoats are flying off the shelves, all want to look smart and the part 🙂

i wish the lads well, I am sure they can do it!!

  9. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    Ooops, missed the morning action.

10 mins before crypto Skype to understand Eddie, cold served revenge, the war and Shakespreare 🙂

ha ha, love the idea of a whole nation trying to look like Southgate.

30 deprees and the must have waistcoat and tie 🙂

  11. Eddie's avatar Eddie says:

micky- do you want me to draw a picture?

did you watch bbc news this morning? female presenter was wearing a waistcoat 🙂 looked good

  12. RC78's avatar RC78 says:

    – Hope England and Switzerland win today
    – Sokartis announced as an Arsenal player yesterday
    – Luca Torreira still pending
    – Nzonzi asking to move to Arsenal

    – Mahrez to City together with Jorginho (Napoli)
    – Martial to Bayern Munich as Bayern looks for Robben replacement and add options upfront. They could line up Coman – Rodriguez – Martial in support of Lewandowski in a 4-2-3-1.

  13. chas's avatar chas says:

A fellow marker…… not only a waistcoat but a top hat too.
I’m sure you approve Micky? ☺
Gareth in a top hat on the touchline. Now that would be something!

Chambers extends stay at Arsenal after signing long-term deal
    Sokratis is arriving

What does that mean for Mustafi? Or will Chambers play as DM?

CBs: Mustafi, Koscielny, Sokratis, Chambers, Holding, Mavropanos

Knowing that Monreal can also play as LCB

Sweden are laborious and horrible to watch. Forsburg has not done a damn thing to be hearing all this clamor for this guy-Shaqiri was not any better. Good with England through, but Colombia are better to watch too. Any team other than Brazil to win it all would work for me.

  21. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    Anyone?

  22. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

The pic of Sterling with his bugger grips looks like something from the Arsenal Gentleman

  23. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

Don’t know whether or not to make an incredibly intelligent footbally comment or not

  24. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    Not a cracker
Bring on Jack or su’ink 🙂

  25. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

Tense 1st half, with England having the better of chances. Just wondering if this coward ref will call anything? The guy choking Sterling 2X and one time throwing him to ground in box and no call… WTH? This coming from a guy who has a serious dislike for Sterling as he plays for the wrong squad.
See if England can knock one in.

  26. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

  30. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

he he he, if I was playing I’d be having a word with any of the Columbian players on a yellow about their mothers or sisters

  31. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

Like to see that Pickford save again
As long as England win, I’m now quite enjoying this, so don’t mind a bit more

  32. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    Where are you based Aaron?

  33. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

    US californiA.
Pickford save was the very very good. Too bad they did not box out but then again a great goal for the other team.

  34. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

England has to suck it up and use there tight passing to just get one pass through to Vardy-should be enough.

  35. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    CA, wow, very nice

  36. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

    some would disagree.lol
England needs to go wide, not through the middle.

  37. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

Ok, it’s a big state with some less good bits but…I know the good bits are awesome

Be interesting whether either side really go for the win

Well, am in Bay Area, weather is perfect and I surf, ride and hike- a paradise for my family.

  39. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

strictly long for me being an old git

  40. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    england going for it

  41. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

Older git, but been a short, and medium board guy my whole life. Will if really small will longboard.
England are going for it is second half.

  42. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

Man, typo’s. For it and in..sheesh

  43. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    brilliant
I started too late in life to ever be a short boarder. Leave that flash shit up to my son 🙂

  44. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    Pickford looks confident

  45. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    but short 😦

  46. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

    Woo Hoo!
Pickford, and all the very good penalty takers!!

  47. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    superb

  48. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

  49. Aaron's avatar Aaron says:

    Enjoy your afternoon!

  50. chas's avatar chas says:

Well, I thought that was awful.
    Shocking game of football.

The prospect of the Colombians completely losing their rags was the only thing that made it interesting.

    Just dreadful.

Anyone fancy writing a couple of lines about how we’re going to win the whole competition?

  51. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    Morning Chas

Agree. Worst game I’ve seen and only warmed up towards the end with the tension any extra time/pens a knockout tournament always has

Zero chance England winning, so no on that subject. Well, I suppose they could fluke it.

  52. Eddie's avatar Eddie says:

they can fluke it, because they believe they can fluke it.

It was a rubbish game, i didn’t fall asleep but in hindsight I probably should

  53. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    MOTD Pickford.

That fingertip save was unreal. Save of the tournament (that I’ve seen)

  54. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    Chas

If I pen a WC Feelings so far, can you post it. I know you’re at work, so forget the pics, but I can’t do it until after 9, so maybe too late

  55. mickydidit89's avatar mickydidit89 says:

    “shit a brick”

The moment you realise 50% of all comments were by one person and that person was you

    Not good. Not healthy

    POST SENT

  57. RC78's avatar RC78 says:

Well done England – extra stress for nothing but in the end, a win is a win

Sweden will be a bit less nasty to play so I expect a lot more from Sterling, Alli and Lingard.

I like Maguire – he is a real rock at the back.

Beat Sweden to earn a chance to dream

We will have it rough and tough against Uruguay

  58. fred1266's avatar fred1266 says:

What are your guys views on the penalty can was given,

Mine is a thought it was a horrible call and they keep giving England these ridiculous calls in the penalty box

  59. RC78's avatar RC78 says:

The Columbian guy is stupid – he gets reprimanded by the ref a minute before. Kane plays it well but it is a foul in my opinion and the PK was awarded fairly

  60. fred1266's avatar fred1266 says:

Ok agreed with Kane playing it well but thought that would have been obvious to the referee

  61. chas's avatar chas says:

Stop trying to denigrate our majestic victory, Fred.

Just because your part of the world is shite. 🙂

  62. chas's avatar chas says:

Soz, Micky, by the time I saw your comment about a post, it was too late.

On the plus side, we now have a post for tomorrow. 🙂

Might try to find some relevant (for relevant read – completely meaningless and pointless) pictures – especially for your last point.
