I am a straight talking person and I don’t beat around the bush, so let me get this one out of the way – I love Theo Walcott and I think that he is Arsenal’s player of the year. I expect many readers will be leaving this page now – good bye!
This has been a long and nerve wrecking season. Seldom did we go to games confident that the team would perform and that we would bag 3 fat points. And what was worse was the fact that we lost several games we were sure we’d win.
The first part of the season was a real rollercoaster and we needed to dig deep to rescue the season and at least finish in the top four. Many ardent supporters doubted that we could climb back from the mid table, and the real doomers predicted relegation battle for the Club; they went as far as to suggest that both Wenger and Walcott should leave the Arsenal.
Yes, Arsene Wenger and Theo Walcott are the two top names that have divided opinions amongst us for more than one season now.
Theo entered the season with knowledge that not only has he lost his captain and mentor, but that he is expected to fill the gap left by the departure of the Judas. His contract negotiations were underway; the process with all its conundrums can put strain on even much more mature professional. As all of the above wasn’t enough, Theo had to learn to play alongside 3 new key teammates. This season must have been the turning point in Theo’s footballing career.
So how did he perform given the extreme circumstances weighing on his young shoulders? He was Arsenal’s top goal scorer and had the highest number of assists (17). He signed a new contract pledging his immediate future to the Club, which given the number of high profile Arsenal players leaving for pastures new is in itself a welcome event at the Emirates. He worked hard and succeeded in forming good working partnership with Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud. And above all he showed great character strength by being completely unfased by all the shenanigans going on around him.
His speed is legendary, he can run faster than any other EPL player. Yes, it can be frustrating when his spectacular runs amount to nothing much, but in the past months we saw his technique and accuracy greatly improving and his individual and team performances growing from strength to strength. He led the way against Wigan, has scored the fastest league goal this season and had a memorable hat trick against our next opponents.
But that’s not all – he is a young gentleman with both professional and personal integrity, well spoken, polite, immaculately groomed, a shining example to all young footballers. What is there not to like about Walcott? Not much from where I am standing! And I firmly believe that he is not a finished product yet. Wenger has a knack of turning wingers/midfielders into strikers, and it would not surprise me if Theo became an outright striker soon.
Which is your favourite Theo moment? The winner at QPR, or the opener against Manchester United or perhaps the way he led the way against Wigan on Tuesday?

Arsenal News 24/7

“I expect many readers will be leaving this page now – good bye!”
Bye evonne…
A-ha, a post by the gorgeous E-va-va vonne; top stuff and a heartfelt appreciation of a pivotal player for us this season.
Young Theodore is entering the prime of his footballing career and the good guys should take full advantage and ensure he scores/assists plenty more goals for us in future.
Right, now to think about dispatching Pardew’s Nouveau Chateau on Sunday, or as I called him in my pre match “The Dancing Fool”.
The carling cup game where he scored a hat trick and pretty much single handedly won us the game from being 4 nil down
I fink he has greatly improved since paat year. He is Arsenal’s second best player behind Cazorla. Looking forward to see more from him next season
Thanks evonne, I shall respond to your excellent post next, but first I just want to log my response to LB’s comment on the end of yesterday’s post ……
…..LB, if you continue to distort my words and add a meaning that only exists in your mind, any type of debate with you is futile.
For the last time, this is what I wrote:
“And lastly, I do believe AW doesn’t feel comfortable in spending vast sums on established stars”
Let’s examine this sentence. It starts with the words “I do believe” – this means it is my personal opinion not something I am shoving down people’s throats as if it were fact.
Next I said “AW doesn’t feel comfortable” – that doesn’t mean he won’t it means he doesn’t feel comfortable. I (remember the relevance of the word I) think he has taken such a global view of the club’s finances that he cannot justify in his own mind spending vast sums of money on players – that’s my opinion.
As to the evidence … where do I start?
He and others have acknowledged a wage historic policy described as ‘socialist wage structure’ this would preclude the acquisition of £30+m players who would demand high wages.
The regular purchase of 5 or 6 players all averaging £6 approx in recent seasons to add to an already large squad in terms of numbers.
His own recognition that he doesn’t buy superstars, he creates them.
The fact that apart from maybe Reyes,Wiltord and Arshavin, we haven’t splashed out huge sums on players.
I could go on but when the historical evidence is so strong I don’t see the need.
Great post evonne, and a great time to acknowledge the progress Theo has made this season.
I agree he has been pivotal to our contention to get in the top four. However, much as I appreciate what he brings to the team, I’d look no further than Cazorla (or maybe Koscielny) for our player of the season – but maybe Theo would be 3rd on my list with Ramsey definitely getting the ‘most improved’ tag.
theo is going to be a striker greater than henry rvp combined
arsenal does want a natural holding middfielder like song vieira, flamini to compete fdor trophies strikers are a problem to Le Prof because many have been groomed into these roles with great perfection if wenger cant buy one then the captain should be groomed for the new role
You make a good point about Theo losing his mentors in Cesc and BSR, but maybe that was a good thing and led to him taking more responsibility. Whatever the motivation, he has risen to the task.
I still think he doesn’t need to play centrally to get the goals. He can exploit his pace more from out wide running on to the ball than playing a more static role in the centre and as we have seen he is equally effective on the left as the right.
to wenger strikers are not a problem he is a master groomer
So it looks like we have our first signing for the summer almost done, Wenger said a deal for Yaya Sanongo (who he?) is “in advanced stages but it is not done. He is a big talent”.
Someone for the reserves I’d guess – not a first team player as he currently plays for a Lique 2 side.
Morning chary, one for the future I’d say. He’s got impressive career stats so far…..
Senior career
Years Team Apps† (Gls)†
2010– Auxerre 19 (9)
National team
2008–2009 France U16 18 (18)
2009–2010 France U17 16 (9)
2010– France U19 9 (2)
2011– France U21 2 (0)
Did a quick search on Sanogo, he’s a tall/pacy striker who this season scored 9 in 11 appearances with 1 assist and is a France U19 international.
True Raspers – not one to take up a first team place anytime soon.
Song, song, song last season he was praised for his offensive play and his lethal combination with van persie, defensively he was shocking, slow, lazy,,unwilling to track back, really dont know why people love the past yet if it comes back they surely wouldnt welcome it.
You’ve got to laugh at old bacon faces comment about his relationship with the press “But I have never held a grudge. It is not my style.” Not much he hasn’t held a grudge !
He’s got more neck than a giraffe – does no one remember his 7 year ban on speaking to the BBC after they said something about his son ? Or him being caught on mic asking for reporters to be banned for asking awkward questions ?
Typical lying, disengenuous scrote.
I like everything about THEO WALCOTT. Am his biggest fan in nigeria.
I believe Walcott is better as a winger than as a striker in our current 4-3-3 formation due to a lack of physical presence, but he could very well play off the main striker in a 4-4-2. I also think he would be better on the left, where he has the option of cutting in to take a shot with his right foot and wouldn’t really need acres of space to run into.
Nice one, Evonne.
More to come from Theo, that’s for sure
Favourite Theo moment.
Favourite Arsenal Theo moment.
btw, apologies for putting Barndoor on your screens. 🙂
Shame on you, Chas!! 🙂
Nice Post, Evonne 🙂
I was a bit jealous at first, when you said you loved Theo, but then i realised you love everyone, and that’s OK. 🙂
Theo, before, and just after, his contract negotiations was pretty poor, and he hardly got a game, but love is blind, and you don’t mind, so neither do I.
He has been very good recently, using his pace, trying to tackle back and not blaming the blades of grass when he loses control and falls over!! 😀
He is like the parson’s nose to me, good in parts, but I do not feel any animosity towards him, and I want him to continue doing well — starting tomorrow.
Surely you mean “starting on Sunday” Redders ? 🙂
Rasper,
Your explanation seems pretty clear cut, so hopefully that puts things to bed and we can enjoy yacking about footie again. 🙂
As i know you are a keen cricketer, I watched some Test cricket yesterday, and altho I have come to really enjoy 20/20, the best I can say about yesterday’s game (in the hour I watched it) was that it was turgid, and I won’t be watching too much more of that sleep inducing cobblers. 😀
Aye, his form early on was electric and he’s just had the best game of his life (possibly) but I tthink what sticks in a few craws (mine included, if I’m being honest) is the drop in form practically as soon as he had signed on for a bigger pay packet. I do think it’s a coincidence but given our history with a certain Togloese journeyman and the more recent betrayal, it’s hard not to feel a little less well disposed towards him.
I like Theo, but if he doesn’t break into some consistency next season I think he’s going to find goodwill harder to come by, both in the fanbase and with the manager, given the moeny we’re hopefully going to spend on a little more attacking talent this summer.
Oh, technicalities, CharyB!! 😀
When you sit around most of the day twiddling your thumbs, one day becomes just like another — and I do not drink alcohol — which makes it worse!! 🙂
Come on Theo!! 😀
Thank you guys for kind comments. I wish I had more time to research Theo’s stats, as I believe he did very well compared with best right wingers across Europe. His crossing is below average, but all other stats are excellent.
Hi Redders, yes it was a strange decision to bat for England and the cricket that followed wasn’t exactly inspiring I agree. We need to put in a good performance in this series to put us in the right frame of mind to meet the Aussies.
Rasp
That is your opinion and I do not agree with it.
Reyes, Wiltrord and Arshavin are proof that when Wenger had the funds he spent them and as he did so in the past there is no reason to assume that he would not do so in the future which is my whole point.
I believe that had he had the funds more recently he would have brought Hummels and not BFG the example that I gave of Messi is just as relevant.
Wenger is too clever to complain about the lack of funds he has had available to spend so has found better ways of explaining his handicap.
Go back to the only reference I make to Le Grove and show me where I mention your name in connection?
I don’t, the vitriol you talk about is in your head
If this site is no longer about people expressing different views you should perhaps write it above and make it clear.
Great post.
Very enjoyable read from a passionate Arsenal supporter.
Ha ha Redders, I like tripping you up with little things like that.
So Jack on stand by if Arteta fails a fitness test, in fact it seems Jack will have a test too(and play on painkillers). If he can’t make it either who else, Le Coq ?
E.g. Santi, Rambo, Oxo then Theo, Pod, Giroud as the front 6 ?
Hi evonne, ;lovely post.
Yes, we all know Theo is a nice lad who loves his mum, like all good Greek boys should, but its his football that is very nice to.
I have always thought he would come good and the last 12 months he has come on leaps and bounds, This comes from experience playing at the highest level, bith for Arsenal and England.
The one quality i particularly like is not his speed but his on field sneakiness. This new found sneakiness allows him to have periods were he becomes completely anonymous and then bang, the ball is in the back of the night.
In summary then. Theo is a lovely Greek boy who loves his old mum, and is very sneaky. hahaha
CharyB,
I honestly think TV would be a good stand in for Arteta. He is committed despite his problems this season, and he will want to give it his all in our final game — and maybe his final game too.
Arsene will sort it! 🙂
Sounds a lot like you, Terry — especially when you write;
” completely anonymous and then bang, the ball is in the back of the night.”
Glic told me you are a creature of the night! 😀
hahaha, yes Redders its true. Mind you with my eye sight these days at night ime more like Mr Magoo.
How is your health my friend? It saddens me to think you are still on the treatment table. Hopefuly next season you will be up for going to a game, my offer to get you a ticket will stand until you accept
Reblogged this on alexjode.
Great stuff Evonne
Given his return this season in goals and assists I am amazed that anyone still wants to question Theo’s importance to the side.
Does he have games where he is not very effective? Of course – as do all wingers. But ultimately you have to look at his goals and assists and his return is on a par with what we used to get from Pires and Overmars once upon a time.
I also think AW handled the contract negotiations very well, showing he was prepared to play hardball (dropping Theo) until there was a commitment to signing da ting.
Ahhh. I just spotted a debating point.
If Arteta is injured then the general assumption is, I am sure, that Wilshere will come in to replace him.
But, if he does won’t that mean that he plays the defensive shield with Ramsey slightly ahead?
It will be fascinating as to see which of Ramsey of Wilshere, Wenger asks to play the more defensive role.
Trouble with Walcott is he scores a goal then goes missing for the rest of the game.
This wouldn’t be so bad if he was a prolific goal scorer, but he isn’t.
Only once has he scored more than one goal in a game this season and that was at home against Newcastle.
Redders, I’d forgotten about TV05 replacing Arteta, amnd as I was at t hegame I shoud have remembered he slotted into Mikel’s place in midfield late on.
Admittedly it waa only for about 5 minutes but maybe Wenger was tryimng TV05 out in that position in anticipation of using him there on Sunday ?
I can’t remember if Vermaelen did anything of note at DM in those 5 minutes.
Just an opinion but ….
LB vs Rasp or Rasp vs LB = Enough already!
Boooooring.
We need to win on Sunday so an attacking midfield capable of scoring goals will surely be the order of the day rather than the extremely defensive minded Vermaelen.
GN5
It’s water off a ducks back to him.
CharyB,
My view on TV is only based on what I have seen of his behaviour as an errant CB.
What I mean is that he hares upfield, either to try and bolster the offense, or to launch into some blistering tackles, and he has a fantastically powerful shot.
Nothing that commends him as a CB perhaps, but rings bells as a midfield box to box player. I happen to like TV without really knowing why — he just seems to wear his Arsenal heart on his sleeve, and I would like to see him succeed.
I still think it is a fascinating point of debate though.
Would Wenger, assuming he had the funds, spend big if the right player wanted to come to THOF?
No brainer.
how about coquelin. he is a natural DM and probably the best option
You are right about TV05 Redders yet Wenger has never tried him there at DM(for a length of time), or if he has I haven’t noticed.
I want him to do well too as there is a good player there who lost a bit of confidence in his ability.
I suspect if Jack is able to Wenger will decide to use him instead a she will probably view TV05 there on sunday as too big a risk in such an important game. However Wenger may surprise us with his final selection – a pose(u)r for Big Dandy’s Pre match.
CharyB, Are you saying Big Randy is a poseur? Well now you mention it ……………. 😀
Vermaelen has never started as a DM
Ha ha Redders, only a poseur in the best possible way 🙂
Didn’t think he had London – that 3-5 mins on Tuesday was the only example I could think of.
Jamie
Coquelin is a good call but this is a big game and experience will count for an aweful lot.
Chary
I can’t think of another example. Still, I wouldn’t be horrified if Vermaelen started on Sunday.
London, in an ideal world Arteta would be fit and we’d have no worries but somehow I don’t think he’ll make it.
Fingers crossed
Quack 😆
Good one Evonne. Someone else pointed out yesterday that we should remember that Theo played very few minutes in the beginning of the season while Arsene tried to prove a point. So his stats would be even better probably. —
Rasp, i would consider Mertesacker as player of the season. But everything he does goes un noticed anyway. Thats how i want my cb. Not flashy, super effective and consistent. Love koz also though.
lol
Rasper,
You are clearly quackers! 🙂
Evonne,
In my book, you’ve dropped rather a large one, because writing an excellent post puts you “on-call” seven days a week. Every week 🙂
I was a massive “sign da ting” man on the grounds that losing his goals in January would have been a disaster, coupled with retaining an asset.
Also, I’m no stats man, but doesn’t he compare rather favourably with yer Hazards, Matas, Nanis and whatnots?
My man of the season is half of one, and half of another, which I think is allowed. Mertecielny or his other way around brother.
The Telegraph have an update on Sanogo. Diaby could have competition in the sick bay.
“Sanogo, who would become Wenger’s third notable signing from the Ligue 2 outfit, (Auxerre) following Abou Diaby and Bacary Sagna, has scored nine goals in 11 league appearances this season, netting four in one match against Laval.
The 20-year-old French under-21 international is set to sign up for four years at the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer but doubts remain over his fitness, a problem which seems to have deterred other clubs from snapping him up.
After impressing for French under-19 side Sanogo missed almost the entire 2009-10 season after breaking his leg and a torn muscle him ruled him out for much of the following season.
The player was first tracked by Arsenal in 2009 when scouts spotted him at the Montaigu Tournament, an international competition contested by under-16 national teams but he signed for Auxerre soon afterwards.
Sanogo’s first setback was as a 13-year-old when he was rejected by the prestigious Clairefontaine academy. He instead signed for Parisian club Les Ulis, where France’s record goalscorer Thierry Henry started out and began to make a name for himself.
At 6ft 3 ins, the young Frenchman is an imposing figure, with physical strength and pace making him a scary prospect for opposing defenders.
Speaking ahead of the weekend match at Newcastle United, Wenger said of the deal: ”It is in advanced stages but it is not done.”
Very un-Wenger-like for him to announce something ahead of a confirmed deal.
I think he must have been reading AA and decided to prove Rasper right — he prefers freebees!! 😀
Micky, you are quackers too! 😀
RA – and you ain’t? ROLF 🙂
RA
Jovetic is another with a dodgy injury record.
Only one Duck on this site.
I said “Duck”, not “Ducky” RA. Honestly, what some people “might” say 🙂
Micky – I found these stats yesterday :
http://www.arsenalreport.com/statistics/scarecrow-how-theo-walcott-compares-to-the-best-right-wingers-in-europe/
but didn’t use it, coz I am not sure about accuracy or timeliness.
Interesting Evonne
And that was before this season where his stats have improved further.
I’m still far from happy about his off ball movement, but then, if he had that he’d be a City target 😦
don’t worry Micky. He signed a 3 year contract, which means that in 2nd year he will outplay any monkey. And then, sadly, at 25 he’ll be gone
Never be a Doomster on a Friday. He will improve and stay to play alongside….?
….the second of your big buys. 🙂
I’m not sure Vermaelen’s passing is good enough to play in midfield.
Also, he often goes to ground when tackling which is not ideal for a DM.
Btw evonne, I liked the opening words of your Post.
It is good to know that you are (a) straight and (b) a talking person.
Rocky 🙂
I am a) straight (why does that please you??)
b) talking (incessantly)
c) person (not always)
Here’s some footage of Peaches when she was lickle predicting that Gareth Bale would play for the spuds.
And she does not ‘beat around the bush’, Rocker.
So, with declaring she is straight — does the latter qualify as tautology? 🙂
And Good afternoon to you, my friend — I thought after your brief appearance this morning that you had converted into a hit and run merchant, like Big Al. 😀
Apologies to you, Chas, as Micky obliquely reminded me, you are the one and only ‘Duck’ on AA. All hail the Duck!! 😀
Good day Redders
I was keeping my head down in case I got caught in the crossfire 🙂
Sometimes I have time to make a quick comment before leaving home in the morning. Then it’s usually 2 or 3 hours before I can check back in again.
evonne
I am pleased that you are straight because I would hate you to be crooked…
Rasp trying to stay awake after updating his widgets all day.
Gareth Bale peels bananas with his feet 🙂 what next
Dammit, Chas, that little duckling is behaving just the same way i do, when I am bored!! 😀
evonne. A good read, particularly in your second language 🙂
I am and have been a huge supporter of Theo, not only because of his undoubted footballing talents but also because Arsenal need a “face” – Theo and JW are the face of the club for the next few years.
In that way his contract signing was hugely important
Afternoon again Lady and, errr, Lads
Afternoon Didit. Really hot here (25+) – how is the weather down South?
Have we decided who plays the Arteta role if the worst comes to pass?
Coq, Why not?
Out of Rambo and Jack. Mmmm, who could be trusted more to stay put?
Raddy,
Down West: sun, rain, sun, rain 😦
So sod off with your nasty 25+ 🙂
8 degrees in London, bees are dying again
Jack of course, he was born a Gunner, but then again Rambo has integrity. Coq’s too young
Micky 🙂
do you know the Satanist Camelot Castle in Cornwall? I was there last week; it was freezing cold, wind the force of a gale and lashing with rain – lovely! I would have hated 25 nasties. ooof far too hot
Ooo Raddy.
Nealrly forgot what with all the excitment of the DidIt Quiz, Top Scorer. Your man is one behind. One nil to the Arsenal, with a Pod goal would be a nice ending
Evonne, yes I do. Tintagel is horrible. Full of Arthurian Legendists, but the area is stunning. Boscastle just up the road knocks spots off it. We camped there two weekends ago. Superb.
Agree, the scenery, walks on the cliffs and the sea are amazing. Shame about so many people
Really beautiful the walk around the head. & no need to be Arthurian Legendists-ist
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfGpVcdqeS0
Raddy,
I think you have coined an Arthurian Legendists-ist-ism. 🙂
😀
Well done Evonne.
You know my feeling on Walcott but I admit I see a more confident player now and having been at the club for 7 years (must be one of our longest serving players) and being now 24 he is ripe to develop but what his best position is, for the team ,not his chosen position is debatable.
thank you Kelsey!
Hi all
Well done evonne, I too am a huge fan of Theo and would have been very disappointed had his contract been allowed to run down. I hate seeing our players in another shirt especially one that I think has a lot to offer.
Can’t stop to chat ……………. we will need a post for tomorrow if anyone has an idea to stop us biting our nails all day 😉
thank you Peaches! I’m off the hook for a few months 🙂
Any plans re long boring summer posts?
long and boring summer, not posts of course
Long summer? No Euro’s or WC. No Olympics. What shall we do??
GN5 has it sorted
BTW Terry, why did you say Theo’s mum is Greek? I was sure she is English
No idea Raddy, I might get another black dog. There is a gorgeous black great dane for adoption; fabulous dog with owners that have more money than sense. Anyone would like her?
Evening all, been stiluck in the back end of beyond all day with no phone signal and the client wanted to sit next to me so no time to utilise her broadband.
A very passionate read Evonne, and Theo has certainly given done stirring displays, but it is that fear that he is too easily nullified early in the season that needs addressing by coach and player. We must make better use of his assets when teams come to draw.
He still has IMO too limited a skill set to be the man we can rely on solely, but when he plays for the team and the team play to his strengths he is devastating. I would like to see him dictate the pass more though, sometimes he seems to wait for the ball to be played rather than making a run that forces him not to be ignored.
GIE,
I think you have a great point about the timing of Theo’s runs. He often goes far too early before the midfielder has had a chance to look up, meaning he has to come back onside first. Second time around he’s seems not so keen to make a run.
He doesn’t need to go early because of his blistering pace.
This is from a viewpoint of being at the game.
I think he shoots his bolt too early a lot of the time. A common problem. 🙂
Here’s sheepy
Don’t panic on sunday we get fourth
Alex jones
As you say chas….
Falcao or Ronaldo. Either would do Mr Wenger (please)
evonne and Theo sitting in a tree
K.I.S.S.I.N.G. 🙂
Lovely post evonne!
Sorry I am late to the party evonne but all the same I really liked your post. Not had time to look at other comments so if I replicate what has been said already apologies.
I am happy to admit I was pro Theo and thought he would be a potent weapon for us. I also thought that he could develop into the number 9 striker for us but am happy to admit that I am now not so sure about this. He may still develop into this role but I suspect he will be best as a wing forward.
As a wing forward / attacking wide player I feel he could be one of those that could progress to the strike rate of a central striker, not necessarily to the Messi / Ronaldo level, but quite possibly a 25-30 goal a season level. Combined with a high assist rate that means we have a game changing player on our hands and also a player that could be the difference in winning silverware across a season.
I still feel there is even more to come from him and I think he still has areas of his game to improve on. He is still a bit too frequently caught offside for me but he seems intelligent and I feel this will become less of a problem over the next season. I also think he needs to slightly improve his decision making in when to hold wide and when to drift in to the danger areas closer to the number 9, but that is an area he is improving on rapidly and I actually prefer it when he comes infield more because the boy can finish.
I think the big key to his game is to have an effective number 9 that is a goal-scorer but also links up well and can play that final pass for Theo at times. We had that with RVP and I am one who feels that him turning his back on us had a more dramatic effect than most think. His partnership with Theo was already blossoming and I feel RVP would have continued with his prolific goal rate with us but also that Theo would have been even more prolific with goals and assists this season, than he already has been, with RVP playing inside him.
Certainly we were short last season and RVP carried us but the addition of Santi and return of Jack increased the creativity behind the front 3 and the addition of Podolski and Giroud to back up RVP would have eased the goal burden. I don’t buy that tosh about him being justified in leaving us because he won the title because I am convinced That Utd minus RVP was worth 7-9 points less this season to them but was even more significant to us, possibly to the tune of 12 points more. That would have put us in the mix this season and even if we had come up slightly short, we would now be looking like one of the favourites next year with a couple of additions. That is why I feel the treachery of RVP very keenly.
He is gone though and players that can lead the line like him but also have the skills and killer pass of a great number 10 / attacking midfielder are the hardest to come by. We can hope that the Pod maybe blossoms into this role or we maybe need to bring someone in but if we do get that position right next year I expect it will bring out even more in Theo.
Peachy/Raspers – if you still need a post for tomorrow i’ll pop a short conversation starter in the silo later tonight.
Well there’s a post of sorts there now if you need it Peachy/Raspers..
Night all.
Tomorrow really really matters doesn’t it?
As much as I have told myself 5th is a “so what”, it just isn’t. St Totts Day on the last day of the season is hellishly exciting.
Do you think it is a little early for some Clash?
Tomorrow reminds me of The English Civil War in some respects 🙂
Bugger. Wrong one.

Morning Chas,
Weird vids, but sound good. Did you know The Clash were described as one of the greatest Reggae Bands. Peter Tosh I think.
ey? Clash Reggae?
Micky, tomorrow doesn’t matter. No matter what the result, you will still be cracking jokes here next season and Chas will be posting weird and wonderful vids, and we will have a little troll and big GiE, and life will go on….
Relax, why would we not win?
Now that’s Tosh ….
Morning All.
Morning People, 🙂
My ears are ringing — the Clash? passed me by – who they – ooh, my head hurts! 😀
GoonerB – great comment. You are right about Theo and the Judas partnership. It was a pleasure to watch them and could have turned into most lethal duo in the league. No point crying over spilled milk; R$P will be finished soon and Theo has years to become the greatest.
I always wondered how much of the footballing genius is a learnt behaviour and how much a natural skill? Take Rooney for example – he always looked like a finished product; has he become even better over the years? I don’t think so, he became fatter and slower, but not necessarily better
Morning all, on Eurovision day, we should be playing stuff like this 😕
lovely Bonnie Tyler representing UK in Eurovision tonight. I think I used to look a lot like her some years ago. Sadly for me she looks younger and younger every year, whereas I look older and older every day, weird
Morning
Interesting debate about Theo and it was mentioned that often he goes missing in games, especially when playing for England, yet I often got the feeling that a number of the senior players had there own strategy in a game regardless what the manager said, and were reluctant to give him the ball.
The partnership between Theo and RVP was certainly developing and then RVP buggered off.
With regards to Rooney he is one of a very few players who came into a senior PL side at the age of 16 and made an immediate impact and now 10/11 years on I personally believe we have seen the best of him,not that other clubs would possibly see it that way,but the wages he would demand makes him only a target for a very few clubs.
Not many English players really make there mark if they go overseas, even beckham was dropped by Capello but created no fuss, would Rooney act like that ?
Cop some of this lot….
Now you are talking Kelsey – Beckham…………..what a guy!! My only regret is that we can never claim him as ours.
Rasp 🙂
Rasp. Love the Finns. Proper music 😀
Morning kelsey, I agree that there seemed to be some kind of conspiracy and the likes of Lampard didn’t want to give the ball to Theo at times – oddly Rooney was one who did interact well with him and Rooney definitely enjoys playing with the Ox, they have some similarity as players.
You either don’t know Clash music, or what Reggae is 😦
Doesn’t matter at all, but Peter Tosh (The Wailers) knows both 🙂
Rasp,
Lordi? Are you trying to contact Chary via some kind of telepathy?
Hi Raddy, yes that was my favourite … pure genius, Lordi managed to take the micky out of Eurovision, rock music and their own country 😆
😆 Micky, chary must have thought he’d died and gone to heaven when Lordi won
The Rumanian song tonight is very funny.
kelsey. There are so few English players abroad – especially quality players, so there is no problem for Hodgson. I can’t think of anyone other than Becks and Liniker who were England regulars in the past few years
Eurovision Song Contest (yawn) more of a “we will vote for you if you vote for us, but on no account vote for (insert country)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=mP64EspF0E8#t=52s
See if you can work out why this UK entry didn’t do so well 🙄
They should rename it the European Camp Contest. Terry Wogan’s commentary used to be the highlight for me but maybe Graham Norton is more appropriate for the show.
Morning all
Rasp, interesting thought in your 8.31. Could it just happen? Could it work? Rooney is one of the few players with that same ability as RVP to be able to play as a conventional number 9 but with the ability of a play-making number 10 to bring team-mates into the play. Has he really had his day or could he flourish and be re-born at THOF.
Thanks Micky and Chas for a morning pick me up with the clash. I am now off to work with a massive testosterone surge. Those OAP’s will not know what’s hit them.
Romania ROLF
The Eurovision really is a Camp Fest 🙂
Wow Rasp
I hadn’t seen your Camp comment
Hi GB, i don’t know how Rooney would fit in with the chemistry of the side but I do think he is actually a football purist and revels in the company of like minded players.
If we assume that top players already have a new team in mind when they ask for a transfer, I cannot see any further than the chavs if he wants to stay in the UK. I’m sure his media loving missus would love to be based in London. I can’t see us being able to offer him the salary he demands.
Micky, its the camp part of the ESC that provides all the entertainment don’t you think?
Evonne,
“Micky, tomorrow doesn’t matter”
For today and tomorrow, nothing could matter more.
If things go tits up tomorrow, then I’ll have to find a way of joining your line of thinking, and do some of that “finding positives” nonsense 🙂
Rasp
I’m ashamed to say that there is zero possibility of me tuning in 🙂
Didit. I know both reggae and the Clash. if Tosh really believes the Clash were one of the finest proponents of reggae then the excessive weed smoking has addled his brain.
Bet he likes “Pass the Duchy”
The best Eurovision song that never was …… It was No.1 in the UK charts for 4 weeks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qnOxfT6E_Bk#t=12s
Raddy
Pass the Duchy: That’s plain nasty 🙂
He was referring to tracks such as White Man in Hammersmith, not all, or even many.
camp fest 🙂
There were some studies done on Wayne’s little brain, which revealed that he is a genius. Ok, in footballing sense only, but still a genius. He can process information around him more accurately and faster than dedicated computers. You do get a feeling about some players that they posses another sense, they seem to know instinctively how to react. Rooney is one of them, Theo probably not. But hey, success is 10% genius and 90% elbow grease
There is 100% possibility of Camp Raddy tuning in tonight.
It is one of the most amusingTV nights of the year – full of “doesn’t she have a mirror ” or “have they no shame” moments.
Micky – Citalopram is wonderful 🙂
I’m with you Raddy, its TV gold, unfortunately I’m unlikely to be able to watch, however I never wait for the farce of the political voting, its just an exercise in jingoism
Evonne
Had to google “Citalopram”. Thought it might be some terrible band you like from Poland 🙂
You know for sure there’s too much money in the world when cash is spent studying the Rooney brain 🙂
😀 😀
Rasp. I agree. The voting is crap – apparently Denmark are favourites.
Will Chary manage to pen a post without a reference to Utd?
I say “No” 🙂
You’re going to find out right now Micky …..
…. New post ….
I was curious if you ever considered changing the structure
of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
Unquestionably imagine that which you said. Your favourite reason seemed
to be on the net the easiest thing to take note of. I say to you, I
definitely get irked even as other folks think about worries that they plainly do not
know about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest
and also outlined out the entire thing without having side effect , other folks can take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
Be careful here,i thought it wise to write on this wall so you don’t get scammed just as i was here. Nobody can help you here or even suggest how you can get financial help. Any answer of a loan lender to your question, you MUST ignore, because they are SCAMS…real SCAMS…i was a victim of which i was ripped thousands of dollars…well thank God for a Christian sister who referred me to a loan organisation. They made my life a valuable one and gave it a meaning. When the sister gave me their contact, I contacted them. Then I requested for a loan with all the necessary evidence to prove that I actually needed a loan, they approved a loan of $30,000.00 USD without collateral and in 48 hours after meeting up to their necessary requirements, my loan was deposited in my bank account . Though i was very nervous with the loan organization at first due to my previous bad experiences, especially when the issue of me settling the transfer charges came up, I hold on to my faith due to the fact that my relative referred me, got it cleared, and as God should have it, little did I know that my financial shortcomings has come to a final HALT. If not for that quick referral from a christian sister to that genuine source ,I would have regretted my total life, because at that point in time i just divorced the father of my son, and my son (Kenneth) was faced with a life and death situation. I was faced with his hospital bills and i was also faced with foreclosure at my apartment.Details of this GOD-SENT organization won’t be disclose for now for fear of impersonation ( because it has been discovered that some persons are not really in need of financial help, but they just want to collect money from this genuine christian loan organization). And it is because of this reason they don,t give out loan anyhow. You must be able to convince them very well, and provide good proofs to show that you really need a loan before they can approve it for you. Their charge is very affordable and reliable compare to many out there, their interest rates is just 7%,little documentation, and no credit check. As i have earlier said, for security reasons i can only provide my email for anyone in need of more information to contact me Andrewstacy89@yandex.com to get in touch with them. Embrace this and be free from scammers.
