Liverpool: Title Contenders?

What do Jimmy Tarbuck, Steven Gerrard, Ken Dodd, Cilla,  Jamie Carragher, Les Dennis,, Derek Nimmo, Freddie Starr, and Joey Barton, have in common apart from the fact they are all tools? I have no idea…..

Over the years I have enjoyed many a laugh both with and at my Liverpool mates and their undying support for their team. They remain convinced LFC are still  potent and relevant in these days of domination by the money clubs. How many years is it since they won the title?

Now I realise I am on thin ice here what with our lack of a Big Ears cup, but really, they are about as relevant as a beta-max video machine.

Except, and I hate to write this, this season they look like a team who have the potential to actually break into the big boys. Alongside those miscreants down the road, who are finally learning to stand upright, they threaten not just our Top 4 place but also, dare I say it, the Champions.

Oh stop it, Big Raddy – you know as well as Alan Hansen that Liverpool will self-destruct just as they have year after year – is it 20 now? No Raddy – it is almost 24. Makes our 10 years since a title seem paltry.

Liverpool:  OK I’ll admit it, I was wrong. I thought Brendan Rodgers was totally out of his depth and would have been sacked by summer, instead he seems to be doing an excellent job. It is early days but Rodgers’ barmy management style seems to work with the dullards he has in his team. How else can we understand how Sturridge has suddenly become a top striker or how a cart-horse like Henderson is showing good form?

And much worse, they are playing attractive football!

Suarez: Had he come along with Ozil we would be probably ToTL :-D Sadly, his form is such that there is no way he will be sold in January however much is offered for him. He would look so much better in a proper shirt and playing in a decent stadium.

All over the pitch Liverpool look strong; the resurgence of Skrtelllll (a sub-orc) alongside Kolo and Sakha(s**t) at the centre of defence is solid as is their central midfield. Mignolet is an excellent signing given the waning powers of Reina. The loss of Lucas for almost the whole of last season was very damaging and his return has given Stevie M a new lease of life.

Is Stevie G a top, top player? Of course he is. At any time over the last XX years he would have walked into any team in the country – or would he? Would he get into the Invincibles?

But what is most concerning is that they are playing as a team and not just a bunch of over inflated egos like the usual Scousers.

Arsenal:  Will we ever have a full squad to pick from? Once again this is a game where Theo would have been a vital attacking force, primarily because if there is a weakness in the L’pool side, it is lack of pace in defence. However, once again we go into a series of hugely important games without key personnel.

Given the importance of today and Tuesday it was a huge surprise to see a first choice midfield take the field vs the Chavs; sometimes Mr Wenger makes decisions that I just cannot understand.

The back 5 continue to leak goals even to lowly opposition like Palace. – perhaps we should be buying the entire Southampton defence, they may not be as high-profile as our boys but they know how to keep a clean sheet (until they come to the Emirates). I liked Monreal at LB and think his midweek performance deserves a start. We have two fine LB’s and rotation is important.

It is so disappointing not to see The Flamster try to tame Suarez and he will be sorely missed but we still have the weapons to subdue him. Arteta and a disciplined performance from JW should do the job (I hope).

My Team:

arse v pool

This may be a bit attacking but we are at home. I would like to see Gnabry get at least 30 minutes and add some pace late in the game. Another who had a fine game midweek was our captain, Mr Vermælen; given the developing understanding between our first choice CB’s it is unlikely he will start, but if this continues I cannot see him staying at Arsenal – he is too good to sit on the bench.

So can we win? Of course we can. We are at home, top of the table and playing well. My fears are how our little wizards will cope with another dynamic physical midfield. If we can stop the balls to Suarez then he cannot create havoc.

Should be a great game.

    BR,
    Excellent as ever.
A little too even-handed for my liking but that just fits with the general air of expectant apprehension surrounding the game.

btw, we kept a clean sheet versus Palace. :)

“The back 5 continue to leak goals even to lowly opposition like Palace.”
I thought it was a clean sheet??

Nice post fella,I hope arsenal do attack.Because we will hit use on the break,SUAREZ STURRIDGE COUTINHO will rip use to bits.We saw how easy Dortmund hit use on the break, and we have better attackers ;-) Arsenal 1 v 4 Liverpool YNWA
SUAREZ & STURRIDGE get a brace each ;-)

    Perfect timing ↑

  7. Norfolk Gooner says:

    Good morning all,

Nice one BR, yes we will miss theo’s pace, but we’ll just have to make up for it in other ways pacy passing? Devilish dribbling? One thing I would like to see a bit more of scintillating shooting!

  8. chas says:

    No more, I promise….

  9. james says:

Luis Suarez is the first player to score three in one Premier League game this season
His hat-trick against West Brom was his fourth in England, in what was his 81st Liverpool appearance
Suarez’s hat-trick per games ratio is 1:20 and is the best out
of all the 46 players who have ever scored more than one Premier League
    treble
Suarez’s strike rate is comparable to the best on the planet… he has scored seven goals in his last five appearances at Anfield
In the current Premier League season, Suarez has scored six and provided one assis

    Sorry but comedy gold.

  12. pete says:

Oh how we thought Liverpool were cutting off their nose to spite their face during the transfer window when Arsenal bid £40m plus £1 in an attempt to capture then want-away problem child Luis Suarez. Why, we thought, didn’t Liverpool take the money and run ?

    priceless.

  13. jeffrey says:

The answer, of course, is now plain for all to see – Suarez is worth far more than £40m on the open market (would even a £100m valuation currently be unrealistic ?), but to Liverpool he is surely priceless.

  14. Big Raddy says:

    MJC :-(

    I blame my researcher

  15. Goona says:

Gnabry is out injured, and rumours has it that Jack is nursing an ankle problem. Wouldn’t be starting the game for sure, maybe bench at best.

  16. dandan says:

Super post BR will be a nail biter tonight, Hopefully we will pull through.

Saw this lovely use of words in an article about golf from Shanghai this morning.”Poulter added that his confidence had never faltered during his barren batch, and given he dresses like a Dulux factory looter, that is perhaps no surprise”

  18. evonne says:

Raddy – pull yourself together :) They are not as great as you suggested. There are still only a handfull of good players, huge holes in defence, often disjointed midfield. But they have Suarez who gives them wings, ,no doubt about it. LS has been behaviing himself lately and I think it is time for some madness. I hope he will not eat one of our players, but a potentially dangerous tackle may seen him picking up a red. That’s as technical as I get when it comes to super players and no Flammini to stop them.

Let’s not forget that we have the manager who knows how to play pool and I think we are looking for a draw at the very least

thanks for yet another great read

  19. GoonerB says:

Nice one Raddy. It is going to be difficult to win today with many of our options closed down due to injuries. We can put out a good 1st 11 but the bench may look a bit thin today so we will have few options to change how we play.

I feel the key today is our deeper midfield and controlling the midfield starting from this area. This is where they will want to close us down so if we can avoid that and bring the ball out from here, and retain effective possession as we move it through the team, then I fancy us to win. Control of the midfield should also hopefully limit how often they can get the ball up to their dangerous front men.

Wilshere and Rosicky are the best at bringing the ball out from deep and bursting past players so IMO one of them should play deeper alongside Arteta who needs to play the more disciplined holding role. If we start to play sloppy passes from the deeper midfield positions, and don’t bring the ball out from there effectively, and surrender possession too often, the ball will then find its way to their front men too often, and I think we will have problems then.

Bayonne – are you sure? I just got up, saw the result and thought i am still dreaming

  22. evonne says:

Pardew rascal said before the game that if Jose runs to the pitch to celebrate a goal, he will punch him. Seems Jose didn’t even dare to score. Te bloody riffic

  23. Gööner In Exile says:

Afternoon all. I hate playing Liverpool…. don’t know why probably a hangover from the 80’s.

But this evenings match just became a must not lose so we can sing We Are Top of The League for another week. Time for some maturity…..win the winnables and draw with those up the top and we will challenge well.

  24. Big Raddy says:

Should be a really good atmosphere at THOF today.

No knowing this season. Geordies lose to a one-point Mackams and the next week beat Chelsea!

  25. RockyLives says:

    Great pre-match BR

I expect our lads to rise to the occasion and pop the Liverpool bubble.

The BFG and Kozzer can keep ‘Pool’s dynamic duo quiet.

  26. Danno says:

Pop the Liverpool Bubble ;-) As a Liverpool fan,I wouldn’t take anything else but a arsenal 1 v 4 Liverpool scoreline lol All arsenal fans FEAR LIVERPOOL AND SAS ;-) AND USE SHOULD ;-)

  27. RockyLives says:

You might be right Danno. 4-1 for either team would not be a major surprise.

However, despite a lot of pundits predicting a goal fest I have a feeling this will end up 1-0.

  28. evonne says:

oh, just noticed Peaches’ car parked outside my house! She’s on her way to the Ems to sort out the mouthy Scoucers

I’ll take nil all tonight. I actually fear us scoring an early goal and sitting on it, thinking it was easy. Doesn’t always work for our lads

  29. RockyLives says:

    Evonne
Nil all with 10 mins to go – then we score!

  30. Big Raddy says:

Tommy starts ahead of JW, I think he will score today

  32. Gööner In Exile says:

    Jack not on bench either.

    Bench looking light:

Fab, Verm, Nacho, Corporal, Samurai Nik, Hayden, Akpom

First 11 looks fine, although if they play 3 at the back which line up suggests Ozil and TR7 need to exploit flanks and our full backs have to stay back!!!

  33. Sav from Australia says:

Nice write-up, Mr Raddy. I’m bloody nervous and more awake than anybody should be at 4.20am.

  34. evonne says:

Rocky – you certainly know how to please a lady :)

  35. RockyLives says:

Top man Sav – hang on in there – the lads will make it worth your while!

  38. mickydidit89 says:

    Yesssssssssss

But I missed the goal. Me men are all pixelled out so tried to find better stream
They all look like crimewatch crims. Harsh on one of the teams :-)

  39. mickydidit89 says:

    Happy crowd. Nice.

  40. mickydidit89 says:

    Hi Raddy
This is an excellent warm up for our little trip to Germany on Tuesday :-)

  41. Big Raddy says:

Much needed breather in an exhausting game for the spectator, let alone the players.

Could be two or thee up or 2-1 down.

Santi, Arteta and Ramsey doing well. We miss a winger because all our MF’s cut inside.

Can we get permission from the FA, FIFA, UEFA to finish this game at half-time?

  42. Big Raddy says:

“harsh on one of the teams” :-D

  43. Big Raddy says:

micky. My butler is adjusting my leiderhosen as we speak

  44. Gööner In Exile says:

Cracking volley by Santi, pretty fantastic header that led to it, the kind of header the pundits were creaming themselves about when Suarez scored last week.

Must keep our discipline. Been good to see full backs taking it in turns to tuck in and support Kos and BFG.

Two very different styles, Pool trying to get the ball to the front men and hope they can do something, while we are aiming to support and run off our front man.

Big thumbs up to BFG for commanding a very high defensive line from set plays, if they want to whip it in to six yard box Pool will be offside to get on the end of it. It’s high risk but it’s far better than allowing a mass of players to run at goal from between 18 yd box and Penalty spot.

  45. Räsp says:

Great so far – does cazorla get the assist for his own goal?

  46. mickydidit89 says:

    Fabulous PM Raddy. Thank you.

  47. Gööner In Exile says:

To prove a point about styles:

  48. Gööner In Exile says:

I’d give it to Sagna Rasp

  49. RockyLives says:

We’ve got Stewart Robson on the co-commentary over here :(

He just can’t hide his bias.

Started by saying how poor our defence was last season.

So poor that only one team had a better defensive record at the end of the season…

  50. mickydidit89 says:

Really crisp passing from the boys. Terrific to watch.

Unless the commentator is on his game, then I’m guessing who’s on the ball, but still, we look super slick.

    Crowd great.

  51. Räsp says:

    Sagna it is :)

I hope we have the stamina to keep our game going for the full 90

  52. RockyLives says:

    Rasp
I agree with GiE – Bac’s excellent cross should get the assist.

  53. mickydidit89 says:

    Raddy

Fired my butler. The arrogant so and so said I couldn’t take my new scarf.
    I am though.

  54. Big Raddy says:

Bolleuaux. I thought OG had scored

  55. Gööner In Exile says:

Have some of that!!!!!!!!!! Are we going to have every goal of the season?

  56. arnie says:

  57. mickydidit89 says:

    Any thoughts?

  58. Big Raddy says:

Get in ….. the Welsh Messi strikes again!

  59. Gööner In Exile says:

    Evonne

    Ha ha

  63. Gööner In Exile says:

Do you think the Dippers so keen to come on here this morning will be back this evening?

  64. mickydidit89 says:

    Damn, this is sooo fantastic.

  65. mickydidit89 says:

    Exile

Could be Snifferless as well :-)

  66. evonne says:

don’t know GiE, but I know of one Dipper who is watching in the pub and dreading coming home tonight :) :)

  67. Gööner In Exile says:

Haha Evonne! I’ll make sure you have some gifs later for a nice screen saver :)

  68. Big Raddy says:

I hate it when AW makes defensive substitutions.

  69. evonne says:

GiE – good idea, I will break to his machine and change the screensaver

  70. evonne says:

back of Sagna, he’d bite your head off, plastic hair and all

  71. Big Raddy says:

Muscle knack for Gibbo. Two weeks out for most teams – 3 months for the Arsenal

  72. Räsp says:

Who gets the assist for Ramsey’s goal?

  73. Gööner In Exile says:

If we keep the 3 pts will be good for the swingometer :)

  74. Big Raddy says:

evonne. Bac would make mincemeat out of the vampire

  75. arnie says:

    Rasp: Ozil assist, I think

  76. arnie says:

What fantastic atmosphere in the ground…….

  77. Räsp says:

    Thanks arnie :)

  78. arnie says:

What two moments of madness… Come on Szcz, come on defenders

  79. Big Raddy says:

We are sitting so deep, it invites them to attack .

    5 mins left …..

    Come on You Gunners

  80. Big Raddy says:

evonne. I told you we would hear the Beatles song……

5 points ahead. Sets us up for Germany

  81. fatgingergooner says:

    Shit And Shitter!

    Should be R n R, Ramsey n Rosicky!

Most complete Arsenal performance I’ve seen in years. Outstanding.

Made Liverpool look like the team we all know they are. Ramsey made Gerrard look old.

Big shout out to Arteta who was out of this world in front of the defence.

    Couldn’t be happier with that!

  82. mickydidit89 says:

    Yes, yes, yes

Superb performance. Are you ready for Dortmund Raddy? Just cannot wait for Tuesday.

Must dash. Back later hopefully, or early am.

  83. Gööner In Exile says:

Think Ramseys assist might be OG

  84. Gööner In Exile says:

Micky we at Dortmund on Wednesday?!?!

  85. Big Raddy says:

micky. Not yet …. I have to write the PM :-)

I am just so proud of our boys. One of the best wins at the Ems against a team bang in form.

Our CB’s continue to improve but Shit & Shitter (thanks FGG) were poor in front of goal tonight missing two golden opportunities.

  86. Gööner In Exile says:

Although 4-4-2 app says Özil…..Rambo confused me in post match interview saying he got ball from OG

  87. fatgingergooner says:

    Ramsey assist was Ozil.
Cazorla assist was Sagna, himself and the post!
    :)

  88. fatgingergooner says:

Thought Szscesny was outstanding too. A lot of his saves were offside or free kicks, but he looks at the top of his game at the moment.

  89. Gööner In Exile says:

  90. Big Raddy says:

GIE. I have booked for Weds, can’t speak for the surf dude. Who knows what all that salt water can do to a young fella?

  91. evonne says:

    Raddy and Beatles :)

  92. Räsp says:

Thanks guys, I’ve given the assist to Ozil – hope that’s correct.

Outstanding performance from everyone today. Ozil keeps it simple sometimes and gets overlooked, he had a good game.

The only downside now is that the idiot pundits might even begin to believe we have a chance of winning the prem, I prefer it when we are underdogs.

  93. evonne says:

ooooh, Brendan Rogers said ‘the best team won’, big man, fair play to him

  94. Gööner In Exile says:

You might have a spare Raddy…..Micky and diaries not good mix :)

  95. Gööner In Exile says:

MotM is a difficult one today.

Szczesny, BFG, Sagna, Kozzer, Arteta, Rambo, Santi, and Giroud all in with a shout.

  96. Sav from Australia says:

What a match eh? The stuff of champions, but will they say it? Fuck’em! Aaron fucken Ramsey!

  97. Gööner In Exile says:

Rasp Özil is attracting players too him and creating space for others too.

  98. Räsp says:

Absolutely GiE, I think his influence on the side is immense. He’s not flash and certainly not a selfish player, he’s just bloody good :P

  99. Räsp says:

The idiots in the studio said it was Ozil’s worst game and only gave him a 6 when most players got an 8 or 9 .

  100. Räsp says:

Ozil is already top of the assists column – says a lot. Shame he didn’t score that late chance when he weaved his way through pool’s porous defence and hit the keeper.

  101. How happy are we all? :)

  102. dandan says:

Great post BR thanks a bunch….What a magic send off, spent all afternoon packing cases, car to load in the morning, but this evening sat with my Pool supporting son who doesn’t think they will make top four and watched a master class. I wonder what ha happened to In Arsene we Rust :-)
Tomorrow off to The Great Harbour hotel Southampton for the night then board ship and away for a three week cruise round the Med. Hoping I will be able to see all the games on board, if not, am relying on you guys and AA to keep me up to speed. Holiday and an Arsenal team on their game what more can a fella ask.

  103. Adrian says:

Absolutely brilliant game. Showed everyone just how much classier our midfield was compared to theirs. Everyone player well imo, and i thought Giroud was amazing at winning headers and holding up play today. He might not have scored but the way he feeds the ball to our midfielders time and time again with those neat little flicks makes him a strong contender for motm.

  104. Räsp says:

Message from peaches who’s down the Tavern with GoonerB …. can we have a volunteer for the match report please :)

  105. Gööner In Exile says:

I’ll volunteer LB….he loves us bearing the Dippers…he’ll also love that Jack wasn’t playing ;)

  106. Big Raddy says:

Four candidates for MoTM: Arteta, AR, BFG and Santi.

    Arteta shades it for me.

  107. evonne says:

I thought Rosicky was very good too.

  108. They all played well tonight.

  109. evonne says:

GM – I don’t do ‘happy’ but I am fookin ecstatic tonight :)

  110. fatgingergooner says:

Özil was excellent today. I was astonished when the pundits said he got a 6.

People might want more from a £40m+ player, but for me, he is someone who can control the tempo and influence a match effortlessly. Some players create space by doing tricks and beating a man, Özil does it with his brain. His movement and his ability to move opponents out of position is brilliant to watch.

The fact that his performance got a 6 from the pundits tells you just how good he is! Can’t wait until he gets up to the pace of the Prem and is putting in 8’s every week!

His link up play with Cazorla is going to be a thing of beauty in the next few years.

  111. RockyLives says:

What a great spine we had today:

Szcz did everything right apart fom that one slip at the end. Hs performance included some top class saves and great decision making.

BFG: like Beckenbauer, he is The Kaiser in our team: always calm on the ball, reading every danger and transitioning the ball brilliantly out of defence. He knows when to play it and when to put his laces through it. Is there a better CB in the EPL?

Arteta: he, too, knows when to play and when to put it safe. He did not put a foot wrong and is my call for MOTM.

Ramsey: I lost count of how many times he bust a gut to get back and disrupt Pool when they were attacking. At the same time, he was always involved in our attacks. Stevie Me is the past, Super A is the future.

Giroud: could (and maybe should) have netted a couple but his hold-up and link-up play was excellent all game. He roughed up some vey big, very good CBs and they must have hated playing against him.

Many other players were outstanding (Santi, TR7, Ozil, Kozzer) but how nice to have such an assured and dynamic spine.

All told, a game in which we showed great control, concentration and commitment.

Couldn’t ask for more in the run-up to the Dortmund and ManUre games.

  112. fatgingergooner says:

I could quite happily write praise about every player tonight, but my last shoutout goes to Giroud.

Giroud’s touch and link up play is the best of any target man in the PL. You would think his lack of pace would be a big problem but sometimes it is actually a bit of a godsend for the likes of Ramsey, Özil and Cazorla, because they know that they can go beyond the striker and he has the ability to lay it off to them. When you add Walcott into the equation then our midfielders are going to have a field day linking up with Giroud and playing through balls for Theo.

  113. fatgingergooner says:

    RL,

I would argue there are 2 CB’s better than Merts in the PL, one is at Man City, and the other stands next to Merts on most weekends! :)

  114. RockyLives says:

    Fgg
Fair comment about the City defender, but to me BFG is the more important half of our excellent CB pairing.

  115. RockyLives says:

    Headline on the Telegraph website:

“Brilliant Arsenal go five points clear” :D :D :D

  116. evonne says:

ginger – you might as well start writing, happy happy peaches is on her way to nag :)

  117. fatgingergooner says:

    RL,

I agree that Merts has been a brilliant signing. To be the slowest CB in the PL yet one of the best says it all. What I like most about him though is something you’ve already mentioned which is his ability on the ball. He has definitely improved this at Arsenal.

I must say though that Koscielny has become an absolute beast. He and Merts complement each other so well. It’s such a shame we can’t get Verm in the team as well!

  118. LB says:

Sadly today’s game will have gone no where to change the minds of the media that we are true title contenders. Irrelevant that we out classed Liverpool. Criticism remains that we have only played mediocre teams to date and that our position at the top of the league is a false one. But we should not get too down hearted, these games against mid-table opposition serve as a useful build up, a way of honing our skills if you like for the games against big teams that are starting to loom on the horizon.

No doubt that Arteta was MOTM, while others shirk from time to time he always, always wants the ball.

Team selection perfect, Jack should back in the week to pack out the midfield.

  119. RockyLives says:

    LB
    Team selection was indeed perfect.

And when we add Walcott’s pace to this team, just watch us go.

  120. LB says:

    Hi Rocky

Walcott would have murdered them today.

  121. RockyLives says:

    LB
Personally I’m delighted if the “experts” keep writing us off. Five points clear at the top and still underdogs :)

If we beat ManUre next week they’ll say it’s a poor ManU side…

  122. 26may1989 says:

Hello there – am just back from Texas and have watched the game on delay.

    We have arrived.

I’m not so stupid as to say it’s plain sailing, but that was one impressive performance. Three points of course, but the manner of the win was really impressive. We completely dominated in midfield, that was the key. But the defensive game was superb too. So many great performances today.

OK, I’m going to have a quick trawl of the comments to see what nuggets there are in there……

  123. Gööner In Exile says:

I’m not so sure about Theo.

Yes we could certainly do with his pace but opposition defences wouldn’t pressure him on the ball, or try and get as tight as much as they do Santi, Ozil and Ramsey, that would mean we would be unlikely to be able to have the space we created today?

  124. Gööner In Exile says:

  125. Someone is going to love to write the post for tomorrow ……. Who is it going to be ;)

  126. RockyLives says:

    Peaches
    GIE has already volunteered…

  127. Oh well, still not good enough for Shearer ……… are we bovvered? Not this Gooner, I think we’re fab :D

  128. Has he Rocky? Fantastic, I’ll not worry about it anymore then :)

  129. Gööner In Exile says:

I’m not sure I volunteered…..I actually volunteered LB as I know how much he dislikes the Dippers.

  130. Hi GiE – I was just reading back to check that you had when I saw that you’d volunteered LB …….. I’m sure if LB wanted to do it he would say, it might have been too late a finish for him.

  131. Gööner In Exile says:

It was a cheeky suggestion :)

I will do one, will be brief….ish

  132. RockyLives says:

Oh – sorry GiE – I misread your earlier comment.

Haha – seems I’ve dropped you in it anyway :)

  133. Of course you will and you’ll enjoy writing every word ;)

Don’t forget to mention how MOTD only managed to squeeze a few minutes of the game between the top two teams into their show tonight. Discraceful

  134. Well done Rocky. How’s things with you, you’ve been very busy.

The atmosphere at the games is getting better and better each week :)

  135. Norfolk Gooner says:

I’m really disappointed, I’ve just watched MotD and my favourite pundit wasn’t on, I really wanted to see what Alan Hansen had to say.

Suarez and Sturridge made to look ordinary, Gerrard didn’t get a look in, Rodger’s tactics couldn’t have been more wrong.

Big Raddy asked if Liverpool were contenders, not if they come up against teams that play as well as The Glorious Gunners.

Two nil, two nil, two nil: Five points clear, five points clear, five points clear.

Dortmund and Man U? Bring ‘em on!

  136. r0blucci says:

Not a popular opinion, but I will give MoTM to Koscielny. To mark the top striking partner in the EPL right now out of the game is magnificent.

And he mark both of them at once.

    Unbelievable.

  137. IanRealGunner says:

    Rocky,

I know this is a bit weird but I am actually enjoying listening to Stewart Robson’s anti-Arsenal comments as it enhances the viewing pleasure when we win!!!!!!!!

  138. RockyLives says:

    Ian
You’re an out and out masochist :)

Next you’ll be wanting to be whipped with LB’s thong…

  139. RockyLives says:

    Hiya Peaches
    Ridiculously busy.

But still managing to read AA every day :)

  140. 26may1989 says:

Has Robson yet made any concession about Arsenal playing fairly well this season?

  141. dhakka09 says:

yeyyyyyyyy. good job, young guns. that mid-week loss doesn’t hurt anymore. Told ya :P

  142. TERRY MANCINI HAIR TRANSPLANT says:

    Lovely post Raddy

I took a Liverpool supporting client with me today. A bit irritating, but i made clear at half time that i would have to increase his Fee to compensate me for Suarez upsetting facial features. So three great points and extra money, fantastic.

Arteta was king today. Disrupting Liverpools attacks and ticking us over. The guys such a conumate professional.

Ramsey is such a nice boy. Just when you think he wont do it again he pops up with a wonder strike. I felt so good when that hit the net that for a moment i was transported to a Haiwaian beach drinking cocktails and having my hairy back carresed by a bikini clad Godess. Wonderful stuff

Man Utd next. That will be tough and test our resolve but ime confident we will edge it. Probably win 4-1.

The Ghosts of the Thirties are Stirring

  143. 26may1989 says:

A snippet from Sky TV’s crime series, The Tunnel:

Witness: “Live and let live, that’s what I say.”

Detective: “So do I. Except if they’re Tottenham.”

  144. RockyLives says:

    MoTD very funny.

They’ve been creaming themselves over Liverpool for weeks.

We give Pool a proper doing.

Then when they’re asked can Arse win the league, both “experts” say no.

I love it. Keep saying it, muppets :)

  145. Gööner In Exile says:

Apparently Hansen was ready not doing the show….a pre emptive strike no doubt.

Let’s hope he and Lawrenson are doing MotD2 tomorrow as they always do a Saturday round up :)

  146. RockyLives says:

Things are looking up – we’re on for a 9th place finish on the swingometer :D

  147. Gööner In Exile says:

In drafts Peaches….needs a poll adding

  148. evönne says:

already 7/2 to win the league. Bookies are beginning to worry about our Transplant’s bet

Moving forward guys – a draw today a must.

  149. chas says:

    GIE,
Can you clarify (for the last time) how the swingometer translates the difference in points between seasons to a final projected points total, please?

Ant, was saying you just add or subtact the difference to last season’s point total but i told him that would be ridiculously simplistic.

  150. mickydidit89 says:

    Motning All.

“Can you clarify how the swingometer….”,. Is that a wind up Chas? Bit like me saying “Red is straight three games, innit?” :-)

  151. mickydidit89 says:

    Evonski

    Don’t about Terry Transplant, but ’tis I with £100 at 14-1 :-)

  152. evönne says:

was it you Micky?! Excellent! Congrats!

  153. chas says:

‘Red is a straight three games’ – sounds a bit like Lawrenson won’t be playing then.

  154. mickydidit89 says:

    GiE.

Well done on MR. Also, I am bad with social diary stuff, but all is well. I’m flying out on Tuesday. That’s what I meant.

    LB @ 10:01
“Sadly today’s game will have gone no where to change the minds of the media that we are true title contenders”

Sadly? I like it. I was speeding along yesterday to get home in time, and all the chat on the radio was about Chelsea and City, and I couldn’t help but think “this is great, just watch us”.

I take the point about not having played City, Chavs or Utd, but they are still losing points to “lesser” teams. Also, chances are they will take points off each other. It has to be good news.

I’m rather hoping we can slip quietly, but politely, out of the FAC and focus on doing the PL and CL double :-)

  155. mickydidit89 says:

    :-)

  156. chas says:

Great to see GoonerB in the Tavern yesterday. :)

  157. chas says:

    Rrrrrrrrrramsey as a Kawasi………

  158. mickydidit89 says:

Do we take it that the “Henge” vid is a private joke?

By the way, Foreigners in particular, it’s rubbish. Don’t bother :-)

  159. Gööner In Exile says:

Chas you are right Ants method is far too simplistic :D

Points gained/loss (compared to 12/13) divided by 12/13 points (same games) multiplied by remaining fixtures 12/13 points add to 13/14 points so far

  160. mickydidit89 says:

Brilliant commentating. Damn English one’s are dull.

  161. Gööner In Exile says:

There is a limit built in for max poss points too.

  162. chas says:

    Thanks, GIE.
    I love it.
The MOTD pundits always refer to it when asked if The Arsenal can win the League.

  163. chas says:

    GIE,
I was thinking a weighting based on last season’s league position, but that would undermine its beauty.

  164. chas says:

    Micky,
GoonerB is the spitting image of the lead singer for the Stone Henge song.

  165. chas says:

  166. chas says:

  167. chas says:

  168. chas says:

  169. chas says:

Does the co-commentator say, ‘Oh Bugger’ when this happens?

  170. evönne says:

No Chas, he said ‘Ooo uwaga’

  171. Gööner In Exile says:

Fail? He wanted ball in hand so played a beautiful 1-2

  172. Morning all

    Just sorting the post …………………….

  173. LB says:

“But we should not get too down hearted, these games against mid-table opposition serve as a useful build up”

    Morting Micky

I was trying to funny rather than serious.

  174. chas says:

    Haha.
I’ve just realised why you have a limit for maximum points. After 7 games Southampton were predicted to get 191 points. Blows the Invincibles out of the water. :)

  175. chas says:

    Morting, LB.

  176. GoonerB says:

Morning all. Good to see you too Chas and thanks for the compliment about looking like the good looking Scandinavian fellow who is half my age. It must have been the lippy I was wearing. Without it I apparently look like a slightly disheveled Tony Cottee.

  177. There’s a New Post ………………..

  178. chas says:

    What’s bedsh*tting, BR? :)

btw, I think Rambo read what you wrote about shots from outside thearea.
